Judy awoke to the sound of her alarm. She threw her paw a few times on the nightstand beside her bed until she caught her phone and shut off the incessant beeping. She hopped out of bed and began to get ready. It was only five in the morning which gave her plenty of time to get dressed and pick up Nick at seven.

Her apartment was small with very little light from the street lamps peering in through the windows. Luckily for her, her neighbors were not up yet so she at least had some peace and quiet. This was her time to think. She loved to wake up early and sit in the nice warm shower thinking about anything that came to mind. It was soothing and relaxing.

Being honest with herself, she was very worried about today. She was going to the Hopps Harvest Festival which she does every year, but this time she was bringing someone along. For the most part, she was worried that her family would not accept Nick. He was an amazing guy and truly cared about her. She just hoped that they can see past his species and see the loving and thoughtful soul she knew.

As she sat in the shower and began to shampoo her fur, she started chuckling. She was thinking about how odd he was yesterday. It was unlike Nick to watch such a "girly" movie and it turned out he enjoyed it. He even saw a deep meaning to it that she herself did not realize. Was it really that odd to be in love with someone who is not your species? Of course I'm not sure I would ever do that. It might kill my parents. But is it really as bad as they make it out to be? Judy had a few questions for Nick's roommate who apparently fancies vixens.

Before she could really put much thought into it, she heard her phone beeping again. This was her cue to shut off the shower and finish up. She tended to get lost deep in her thoughts and did this to keep her on time. Judy then used the myriad of towels at her disposal to begin drying off. This caused her fur to fluff up and stick out at odd angles. Now came the long part of brushing every inch of her fur until it was neat and manageable. It might have been tedious to clean up every now and then, but it gave her time to think and most importantly, smell better.

It has been a while since she has been back to Bunnyburrow. She hasn't seen her parents in quite some time, almost a year now. She was excited to catch up with all of her friends and family as well as see those that she hasn't spent time with since high school. She loved Zootopia, but something about the rural burrows is just so peaceful and relaxing. Even though it was only one day off, she needed this time to get her mind off of work. She loved her job, but she did not enjoy the ZBI agents coming into the ZPD and acting like they owned the precinct. She let out a small yelp. Her anger towards ZBI translated into her brushing and she nearly ripped off her leg.

After staring at her closet for a few seconds, she decided to wear jeans and a red blouse to the festival. She wanted to keep as much of the rustic charm that she grew up with. However, she decided to leave the country music CD at home and thought the Gazelle albums on her phone would suffice. She grabbed her keys, locked her apartment and hopped into her car. It was an old white sedan that she bought from the impound lot at the ZPD. She didn't drive it very much so she did not feel a reason to buy a brand new car.

After a few minutes of driving, she arrived at Nick's place. He was already standing outside, leaning up against the wall looking down at his phone. He hadn't noticed Judy yet. She grinned and rolled down her window, "Hey fox, do you want a pawsickle?" He looked up excited to see a grey bunny smirking at him. His excitement faded.

He got into the passenger side, "My mother always taught me not to accept candy from strangers in weird white vehicles."

She chuckled, "Who said I was a stranger?" She noticed that he was still upset. "What's wrong Nick."

He looked up at her with wide and glossy eyes, "For a second there I thought you actually had a pawsickle." He wiped his imaginary tears and continued, "I haven't had one is such a long time. I think I'm having withdrawals."

She rolled her eyes and drove off. "You had me worried for a second there you dumb fox." She turned and punched him in the arm.

"Ow," he joking rubbed his arm, "keep your paws on the wheel. I don't want to go driving off a cliff." He relaxed then returned to his usual casual and smug self, "It's just a hustle sweetheart." It truly impressed Judy how he could switch his personality so easily. She assumed it was from his years of hustling and conning various patrons of Zootopia.

Nick began fumbling with the stereo trying to play some music. The stereo was on producing weird static and Spanish commercials no matter how many times he banged it. Judy laughed at his inability to understand the car and she handed him her phone. "Here, I have some music on my phone; you can just use the aux cord." She pointed to the cable protruding from the stereo.

He plugged in her phone and stared at it, "Hey I'm gonna need your password to get the music going."

She smiled, "Sure thing its –"

"Never mind I got it," he interrupted. "Honestly I'm honored you chose that as your password. When did you change that?"

Her ears started to turn pink, "What? It has always been carrots. You know us dumb bunnies." She let out an awkward and nervous chuckled. He only chuckled back. "Why are you laughing Nick?"

"Oh no reason," he turned and faced her, "you're pretty adorable when you get flustered."

Her ears turned redder and she stammered, "What . . . I" He only laughed harder. Sly fox, she thought. They continued down the road towards Bunnyburrow; Judy was singing along to a Gazelle song and Nick was scrolling through his phone. Suddenly the music stopped. It turned into a ring and Nick checked her phone.

"It's your parents, Fluff," he said. She waved a paw at him and he answered the phone, sending them into the car speaker system.

"Hey Mom, hey Dad," Judy said waiting for their reply.

After a shuffle with the phone and a bump she heard her father answer, "Hey Jude the Dude. How is the drive coming?"

"As well as you would imagine," she took a deep breath in, "driving for hours on a straight road into farm country is not the most interesting of drives."

"At least there isn't traffic," her mother was speaking now, "I'm sure it doesn't compare to anything you would have in Zootopia." Her mother was right. Zootopia was a lot more interesting in both things to see and do. However that also meant there was a lot more animals crammed into one location. She was used to being crammed together coming from a large family.

"I actually think the view is quite pleasant," Nick interrupted, "I have never been this far out of Zootopia before. It's strangely beautiful." He was staring out the side of the car looking at the hills and the large areas of crops.

Judy's parents were whispering to each other and she was not able to make out what they were whispering until her dad came back on the phone, "Who's that with you Jude?"

"Hmm? Oh, right! Nick my detective partner is here with me," she looked over at Nick and smiled, "I managed to convince him to come along to the Hopps Harvest Festival."

Nick sat forward and talked almost directly into the stereo, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Hopps. I look forward to seeing you both in person." Judy began laughing. "What's so funny?"

She smirked at him, "You have no idea how the stereo works do you? You don't have to talk directly into it. I know you are old, but I thought you would at least know how to use a stereo."

He backed up and put a paw on his heart feigning pain, "You wound me Carrots. I'll have you know, I never had a car until I joined you at the force." He shrugged, "Finnick always drove us in his van. That thing never had a stereo. Ever wondered why you drive the cruiser?"

She put her eyes back on the road, "That's because I'm your senior officer."

He leaned back into his chair, "At least I can manage the police console. I'm not totally incompetent when it comes to technology." She rolled her eyes not entirely sure of that last statement.

Judy had completely forgotten about her parents until her mother chimed in, "Don't worry Nick; Stu isn't that great at technology either."

"Excuse me?" Her dad made a few huffing sounds before continuing, "I'll have you know that I am excellent with technology."

"Whatever you say honey," her mother said consolingly. The sound of a kiss was also heard. Judy couldn't see her parents, but she knew exactly the dumb grin her dad had on right now. Her mother continued, "You both will make it here in about two hours, right?"

"Absolutely," Nick said with his ears perked up high, "and I would be happy to lend a paw." Judy looked over at Nick and judging from his posture, he meant every word of it.

"Glad to hear that Nick, we need as many bucks as possible to put up the fox gate. It's quite heavy," her dad stated. Nick's ears flattened and Judy nearly choked.

"DAD!" Judy exclaimed.

"What?" Her dad asked bewildered, "We need to put up the gate to make sure that no foxes can get in and eat –" Judy ripped the aux cord out of the stereo and the Spanish commercials immediately resumed. She fumbled with getting the phone up to her ears while trying not to drive off the road. She said, "we will talk about this later," and hung up the phone. She let out a massive sigh and laid back into the seat.

Nick looked at Judy slowly, his ears still splayed. "They have no idea that I'm a fox do they?"

Judy shook her head, "Not at all." Judy put a paw to her muzzle. "They can be so close-minded sometimes."

Nick looked at his feet. "Did you tell them I was a rabbit? He called me a buck."

Judy looked at him warily, "No I didn't tell them you were a rabbit. They kind of just assumed that. I was afraid that if I told them you were a fox they might have freaked out."

Nick turned and glared at Judy, "So you are ashamed to have me as a partner then? Not willing to tell your parents about me just because I am a fox?"

She looked at him worried, "No of course I'm not ashamed of you. I just never told them because they never asked." Nick got closer to Judy still glaring at her. "I'm sorry Nick." Tears began to well up in her eyes. Obviously being sensitive of her feelings, Nick began laughing.

She looked at him confused when he said, "I'm just pulling your tail Fluff." He gave her his signature smirk, "I find it funny actually. The look on their faces when we arrive. I can imagine it now," he changed his stance and tried to mimic Judy's father's slow and southern tone, "Ah! Bonnie a fox!" He made little screaming noises and puffed up his chest acting like a giant monster. "Get the fox spray, the fox spray!" He shifted and switched to a deeper voice, "I, Nick the Evil Fox, am going to eat you all! Beware!" Immediately after, he picked up a blue berry from his handkerchief, made a little screaming noise, and plopped the berry in his mouth. The only thing that worried Judy now, was that his grin was only getting wider. What was that fox planning?

His mood might have lightened, but Judy's did not. For the rest of the drive she sat in a half scared state while Nick imagined eating her entire family of blueberries. He only stopped when he finally ran out of blueberries to eat. Luckily for him, we grew plenty on our farm and she knew he would be in heaven in a blueberry patch. She then imagined Nick with Gideon's figure due to overexposure to blueberries. Maybe letting him loose on the patch was a terrible idea.

After a couple more hours, they finally made it into the burrow. They rode along a paved road up until this point when she pulled off onto a dirt one. Nick held onto the arm support and tried not to get thrown around as she drove down the bumpy, dirt road that was flanked on both sides by wheat fields. Eventually after a bit of driving, the field opened up and a small white farmhouse was visible.

"What is that building?" Nick asked.

"That is the Hopps family home, where I grew up." She said smiling and reminiscing her childhood.

Nick glared at her, "There is absolutely no way your family can live in that tiny thing." He shook his head.

She chuckled, "Of course not. The rest of the house is underground in a burrow. Dumb fox." She made sure to emphasize the word burrow. Nick's mouth formed into a large "O". She could only assume what was going on in his thoughts. As they approached Nick slowly slid down his seat until his ears were not visible.

Judy did not seem to notice this, "Oh no, Pop-Pop is here too." She saw three bunnies standing by the road talking. It was her mother, father and her rather speciesist grand-father Pop-Pop. The car drew near them and she pulled over onto the side. "Are you sure you are okay Nick?" Now finally realizing he was hiding from her family. He simply nodded. She rolled her eyes and stepped out of the car.

Her parents jogged over to her and gave her a massive hug nearly squeezing her to death. If she hadn't been exercising for her job, she might have just perished. Stu looked around and Judy followed her gaze. Nick was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey Jude, where is your partner Nick?" He asked.

Judy shrugged, "Honestly dad I have no –"

As if on cue, a fox pounced from the other side of the car landing on top of Judy knocking her onto the ground. Bonnie screamed and Stu pointed at the red monster that had just pounced on top of his daughter, "AH! Bonnie a FOX!" He stumbled backwards, "Get the fox spray! We need to help Judy!" The fox shot daggers at the three rabbits staring at him in horror. He puffed up his chest and raised his front paws in the air trying to look massive. It had the intended effect and Stu fell on his behind tripping over himself.

"MWAH HA HA! I, the Evil Fox, will dev – ACK! Carrots." Before he could finish a sentence the bunny cop from below kicked the fox directly in the stomach and he keeled over holding his abdomen. The rabbit crawled onto her feet and punched the fox in the arm.

She glared at Nick, her pupils the size of pin points. She yelled, "NICK! YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE THEM A HEART ATTACK!" She finished her sentence with another punch to the arm.

He fell onto his side holding his paws up to protect himself from further police brutality. "Have mercy. I couldn't help it" He sputtered. She placed a paw over her eyes and put the other on her hip. Why did she feel like a mother disciplining her kit?

Judy turned towards her parents who seemed still on edge, but a lot less afraid now that the threat was cowering in an orange fur-ball. "Sorry about that Mom and Dad," she shot another glare at Nick, "but it seemed my partner wanted to try and scare you." They both just blinked at her.

"Your," they stared at the trembling fox, "partner is a fox?" Her dad asked.

Judy sighed, "Yes he's a fox. No he's not going to eat anybody." This didn't seem to calm them down much. "He is a really great mammal. You just need to give him a chance. Please," she looked at them with wide and longing eyes, "for me."

Both her parents smiled at her and Bonnie gave her a hug. "Anything for you Judy," she whispered. Nick's cries of pain caused them to jump. When they looked over they saw an elderly rabbit beating the fox with his cane.

"Begone foul creature!" The old rabbits relentless assault continued, "You are the workers of the Devil and need to return from where you came."

"Pop-Pop NO!" Judy ran over and pulled the rabbit away from Nick. "He's not going to hurt anybody."

The old rabbit tried to squirm free from her hold, "I just saw him eat Trudy. You have to banish him"

Judy pushed him back, "Pop-Pop I'm fine, I'm right here." After fixing his glasses, and saw the she was okay he calmed down. Glaring at the fox and walking slowly back to the house.

Nick stood up and brushed the dirt off of himself and his green shirt. He fixed his tie into his usual offset style and walked toward the Hopps. "Sorry about that, I just couldn't help it." He held out his paw to Stu. Reluctantly Stu returned the pawshake. "I'm Nick Wilde. Judy's partner as you already know. And yes I am indeed a dumb fox." He showed a big toothy grin that almost made matters worse.

Bonnie began laughing, "Honestly Nick, looking back, it was pretty funny. You had us for a second." He presented his paw to her which she responded immediately with a pawshake. He looked at Judy as she was standing behind her parents with a huge grin on her face. She was excited to see her parents accepting Nick. Albeit a little, but a little goes a long way.

"As I said on the phone, I am happy to help out in anything that you need. Especially if it's something you need a big scary fox for." Nick said smiling.

Stu stuck his thumbs between his overalls and lifted onto the balls of his feet, "Well if I knew that we would have a fox here, I wouldn't have had to hire a bouncer."

Nick looked shocked. "You hired a bouncer? For the festival."

Stu nodded, "Sure did. You might not know this since it is your first time here, but our festival tend to get *ahem* wild."

Nick shook his head, "That not possible, I've never been here before it cannot have been Wilde." He gave a stupid grin that was responded by the slap of Judy's paw on her muzzle.

"Ignore him." She said. "I'll help you out with the food mom." Judy and her mother walked into the Hopps family home, leaving Nick and her father to setup the fences and tables. She just hoped that nick would survive while she was with her mom.

After entering the home, they walked down the stairs in the middle of the room, deeper into the burrow. The family home was a large area that had tables and connected to the kitchen directly. To get to the kitchen you had to pass through large doorframes in the shape of bunny heads. Large balconies surrounded the main area and had multiple branching paths that span in all directions. The framing and molding on the walls were all pink and the walls themselves were a nice vanilla color. Judy was pretty sure that her mother is the one who chose the color pallet.

They made their way down the hall and onto the bottom floor heading towards the kitchen. Multiple of her siblings stopped by and gave Judy a hug as she passed them. The kitchen was very large and contained multiple stoves, ovens and other important appliances. There was also a large screen on the wall that connected to cameras on the sides of the house. This essentially acted like a window even though they were underground. The current camera they were looking at was pointing at the large open field next to their house that had a large red barn at the far end. This was the area that the festival was going to take place in a few hours.

Without much thinking, Judy, her mother and her sister Julie, a cream colored and playful rabbit, all began working together preparing the meal for tonight. Other families that would be joining them were also preparing food for the potluck. Judy has done this every year in her past and it did not require much talking for her to subconsciously prepare food with her family.

Her mother broke the hardworking silence, "It was nice to finally meet Nick. I always heard so much about him over the phone with you, but it is finally nice to put a face to the name."

Julie chuckled, "You of all people I did not expect to bring a boy home with you. You have always been so focused on your career that you never made time for relationships."

"It's not like that Julie," Judy said while waving a batter covered spoon, "he's my partner and I thought he might enjoy a relaxing weekend."

"Sure thing 'partner'," her sister said while making air quotes with her fingers. "Please tell me all about him. I want to make sure he's the right fit for my younger sister."

Judy rolled her eyes, "I told you it's not like that. He's sweet, hardworking and frankly rather annoying." She continued methodically stirring the batter, "But no one said that was a bad thing."

"He's also quite handsome."

"Mom!" Judy looked at her mother incredulously.

She only chuckled, "What? It's true."

Judy rubbed her eyebrows trying to make sense of what she just heard. Her sister strolled next to her and began husking corn while she pestered her sister. "So," Julie hip bumped her sister, "How did you two meet?"

Judy wanted to say that he used her to pull off a con and make money, but that would probably ruin their first impression of Nick. Although she wasn't sure how good of an impression by him pouncing and scaring them half to death was either. "Honestly, I tried to give him a ticket. Parking violation."

Julie laughed, "So romantic."

"We started working the night howler case after that. I eventually convinced him to join the ZPD afterwards. I almost scared him off too." Judy said dropping her ears.

Julie put a paw on her sister's shoulder, "Hey it all worked out in the end. Don't fret over that kind of stuff. He's your partner now and Mom thinks he's hot. What is there to complain about?"

Judy pushed her sister away, "I can complain that my mother thinks my partner is handsome. Don't ever tell him that, it will go straight to his head."

Julie moved in close to Judy, "But is she wrong?"

Judy's ears turned pink, "Well . . . Uh . . . No?"

"Is that a question or an answer?" Julie smugly asked.

"Both. But he is completely intolerable so that cancels out any attractiveness." Judy stated.

Julie laughed, "But that doesn't stop you from – ya know." She looked at her sister and just raised her eyebrows a few times and winked.

Judy rubbed her muzzle trying to forget what she just saw. "I told you Julie, It's not like that! We are just partners."

"I don't know about that," her mom chimed in, "he literally pounced on top of you and I saw that look on your face."

Judy was sure that if she didn't have fur, she would be beet red. Her ears were hot and turning red. She folded her ears behind her head trying to hide the obvious color in them. "I - I have n-no idea what you are talking about."

Julie's ears perked up, "What on Earth did I miss?"

Not skipping a beat Bonnie responded, "When Judy and Nick first arrived we gave Judy a hug and looked for Nick. He was nowhere to be seen. Then suddenly, a red blur flew over the car and landed on top of Judy, knocking her on her back. Nearly scared us half to death he did." Bonnie threw lasagna in the oven and set a timer, "Initially Judy just sat there with this dumb grin on her face. It quickly turned into a scowl before she kicked him off of her and scolded him. It was kind cute if you ask me."

Judy had both of her paws covering her eyes at this point trying to disappear from the room. Kill me she thought. Julie laughed, "That is one weird rabbit. I don't think I've hear of one with red fur."

Bonnie gave her a serious look, "Who said he was a rabbit." Julie just sputtered and opened her mouth to speak. No words came out and she just continued husking the corn with renewed vigor. "Speaking of, there he is. For goodness sake Stu. . ." Bonnie was pointing at the TV on the wall.

Both Judy and Julie looked up at the TV and saw Nick helping her father to put up the fox gate that was meant to keep foxes out of the Harvest Festival. Judy chuckled. In all honesty it made her happy that her dad was doing this. In a weird way it showed that he did not see Nick as an evil fox, but just as another mammal. Eventually Judy swore that she would remove this fox prejudice from her parents. So far, it seemed that she did not have much work to do.

Julie looked back at Judy astonished, "You are banging a fox?" Judy smacked her sister with the wooden spoon she was using to make a cream. Judy then gave her sister a dirty look. She took the hint and continued to husk the remaining corn cobs.

"The only thing I'm banging is you in head with a pan if you don't shut up." Judy was a lot more hostile now and shaking a little. Her sister constantly butting into her business was not something she appreciated.

"Now, now girls. Fighting will get us nowhere. Julie, keep the conversation PG please," their mother scolded. Julie chuckled then began seasoning the corn. She still had a slight horrified yet curious look on her face. Judy just rolled her eyes and began cutting carrots for a carrot cobbler.

She looked back up at the TV and saw her father and Nick putting the fox gate away. Maybe Nick convinced him to take it down. She thought. That's truly a feat to convince my father. She started smiling. Maybe, just maybe they would like Nick. Judy wasn't sure why she cared about her parent's opinion so much. It wasn't like he was her boyfriend. But would that really be so bad? She shook her head trying to shake off the thought. Of course it would! We would get into trouble with the law, which is not great considering I'm a detective, and if he didn't feel the same way then it would completely destroy our relationship. He's a fox. I'm a bunny. He's a predator. I'm his prey. He's sly. I'm dumb. We are complete opposites. Judy sighed. I can't risk losing him.

She threw together the ingredients and left it on the countertop for her mother to handle. One of her brothers stepped into the kitchen and that meant Judy was relieved of kitchen duties. She waved to her mother and got a nod in return. Julie simply put her fingers up to her eyes then pointed them at Judy. Judy just waved her off and continued out of the house.

When she emerged from the burrow, she saw that all of the tables were already setup. She saw Nick and her father sitting at one of the tables relaxing. This put a smile on her face as she walked over to the two of them.

"Are you two already slacking off?" She asked pointing that the glasses of lemonade in their paws. Judy checked the time and realized that there was only a few more hours, before the guests would start arriving.

Her father took a sip of lemonade and shook his head, "We aren't slacking off Jude; we are already done. Nick was a huge help, he could carry nearly ten times as much as myself."

Nick shook his head, "I think you are exaggerating a bit there Stu." Nick then took a sip of his lemonade which was about half of the glass considering it was a rabbit size glass.

Judy looked around and saw that all of the tables were already in place as well as the temporary fence. All that was left was the fox gate and the table settings, which just consisted of just a table cloth. "Are you guys not going to put up the fox gate, I saw you trying to put it up earlier?"

Nick chuckled, "It kind of defeats the purpose of a fox gate to keep foxes out if there is already a fox inside the fence." Stu placed his paws over his eyes and slouched onto the table.

"I didn't even realize what I was doing at first. Asking Nick to help me put up the gate was rather stupid if I say so myself." He lifted his head up and looked at Nick who laughed. "It wasn't until he made a joke that the fence was not very effective considering he was still here. It felt like a bag of carrots slapped me in the face."

Nick was still laughing, "Don't worry about it. I'm honestly honored that you saw me as Nick before seeing me as a fox." Nick then finished the rest of his glass which was not very difficult for him. "What about you Carrots? What have you been up to?"

Judy leaned up against the table, "I was helping my mother and sister prepare some food for the festival today." Judy started giggling, "I was also watching the two of you through the camera. You two are so cute."

Nick's ears shot up. "What camera?" He looked around wildly. Judy just pointed to the side of the house. Nick squinted before he saw the camera. "So you were spying on us then?"

She laughed, "No Slick, it acts like a window since we do not have any natural light down in the burrow. I just looked out the window and saw you both." She made air quotes around the word window.

Just when she had finished talking about the camera, her mother over the loudspeaker next to it called out. "Judy can you please start setting up the tablesettings? We are running out of time."

Judy got up get the table cloths and Nick stood up as well insisting that he come along. They walked over to a small shed behind the white house and opened it up. Inside there was a plastic container that contained a few pale red tablecloths. Nick picked up the container and they carried it back to the main festival area. As they arrived, they also saw a few bunnies carrying electronic equipment with them. Nick gave them a quizzical look and Judy answered his thoughts, "They are setting up the music. I don't think you should help them out, you might blow something up."

With his tail, he flicked Judy on her left side then rolled his eyes when she looked at him. They eventually put down the container and began spreading out the table cloths on all of the tables. Most of the animals attending will be standing, but they at least needed somewhere to sit. The last table that they set up was the one Stu was sitting at. He stood up and helped them setup the last tablecloth. Nick was panting.

"Geez Fluff," Nick began rubbing his ears to remove his sweat, "no one told me it was so hot out here." Stu poured them both a glass of lemonade, which Nick happily chugged before asking for another. Judy just chuckled.

Stu peered around Nick, "Well it looks like our bouncer has arrived." Stu said before putting a paw up in the air and waving. Judy followed her dad's gaze and saw a grey wolf waving back at him. He let out a huge toothy grin. To Judy this wolf seemed rather small compared to other wolves she has seen such as Officer Wolford. His bright blue eyes rested on Nick before he started laughing.

Nick's ears shot up and he spun around. This was followed by a look of disbelief, "Wolfe? What are you doing here?" Wolfe trotted over to them, huffing a little bit from having to run.

"The Hopps," he paused to take in a few breaths, "hired me as security. I mean I'm not cops like you two, but I at least look scary." He was probably the least scary wolf Judy has ever seen. Although, most rabbits will probably want to stray as far away from him as possible.

Judy gave Nick a befuddled look. How does he seriously know everyone? Nick saw this look and immediately introduced each other, "Right! Judy this is Wolfe my roommate and Wolfe this is my partner Judy."

Wolfe extended a paw out to Judy which she gladly shook, "It's a pleasure to meet you Judy, Nick has told me so much about you." Her ears started to turn pink. They have only been roommates for a couple of days and he has already talked a lot about me? She thought.

She smirked, "Likewise Mr. Wolf, the only thing I remember Nick mentioning about you is that you fancy foxes." He stopped shaking her paw. He looked at her completely shocked, confused even, before letting go and rearing back into a booming belly laugh.

He slapped a paw on Nicks shoulder, "My, my Nick. You are quite the detective. I'm honestly shocked you figured that one out." Nick's eyes were wide and his ears splayed. He looked like he was trying to make himself invisible. Judy would take any opportunity to embarrass her partner. "Well if that's the case, then I bet you wouldn't mind me telling Judy here that you fancy –"

Before he could finish his sentence Nick punched him in his stomach. Wolfe however, did not react to the punch at all and just gave Nick a confused and sad look. "That's not very nice Nick, I was only playing around." The look on Nick's face made Wolfe break out into another belly laugh.

"Any who, we'll leave you two be. Wolfe and I are going to go get setup for tonight." Stu said before he and Wolfe then walked off towards the red barn behind the newly setup music station.

Judy raised an eyebrow at Nick, "What was that all about? Why did you punch him?"

"He contained information unsafe for dumb bunnies' ears." Nick said with a straight face. Judy gave him a curious look, but decided to drop the subject. It was probably something personal. This only made her more curious and want to know even more.

A few of Judy's siblings hesitantly approached them. Most of them were whispering to each other and pointing at Nick. "Didn't Mom teach you that pointing is rude?" Judy asked with her paws now on her hips. Their ears fell behind their heads. Nick raised a paw to wave and that caused a few of them to jump and stagger backwards.

Nick looked crestfallen and put down his paw. Judy started shaking her head, "Everyone this is my partner Nick. He is not going to hurt you." A few of them still looked afraid. "We all are working with Gideon, you guys aren't afraid of him."

One of the rabbits in the back chimed in, "Well Gideon isn't exactly . . . fit." This caused Nick to smile.

Judy put a paw on her muzzle, "Please don't compliment him it only boosts his overinflated ego."

Nick put a paw on his heart, "I'm insulted Carrots. How could a dashing fox like me have an ego problem?" He paused for a second pondering what he just said. "Oh, I see what you mean."

A few of the bunnies started to chuckled. The few in the front seemed a lot more curious than afraid. Judy glared at a few of her sisters. A little too curious. After they saw her glare, they only giggled.

"Where can I get one?"

"Does he have a brother?"

"The math ain't adding up here." A few of the rabbits said, now peppering the two of them with questions.

Nick only laughed, "I'm a limited edition handsome fox only found in Zootopia. I do have a brother and the math works out if you don't think about it hard enough. That's how I passed algebra anyways." Judy stared at Nick. She had no idea he had a brother.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a brother?" Judy asked. Nick merely shrugged.

"You never asked."

"I'll have to meet him someday." She said.

"Yes," Nick paused looking down, "someday." His mood had changed. He wasn't his normal goofy self. But only for a moment. Within a second his was already back to his old self.

Nick and Judy sat around with her siblings as they talked and got to know Nick. Over a bit of time they became a lot more accepting of him and seemed to be getting along. As they were talking a few cars were arriving.

The cars parked out in the dirt lot on the other side of the street where Judy had parked her car. Bunnies arrived in droves and made their way to the festival bringing food items and freshly harvested goods to share.

As they made their way to the main gate, they were stopped by Wolfe who checked the guest list and allowed animals in. They had to limit the number of mammals otherwise it got to unsafe levels of craziness.

Judy and Nick were sitting at one of the tables closet to the main gate. Her siblings had run off to grab some food. Nick and Judy were already eating some of the carrot cobbler. Nick also had a side of blueberries, no surprise there, and Judy was enjoying a slice of pie for dessert.

She turned to Nick, "Do you want something to drink I'm going to go grab something?" He nodded his head. "Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic? Now that I think about it I've never seen you drink."

"That is because I don't normally. Only when I am upset, worried or on special occasions. It isn't the healthiest way of going about things, but I digress."

She smiled and trotted off, "Non-alcoholic it is." She returned later with a red fruity punch drink and one of their larger cups for Nick and a smaller cup for herself. Nick was fairly certain he was the only mammal here that could finish this cup.

"This is a lot of fun Fluff. Thanks for inviting me." He said between intermittent sips.

"Don't mention it. I'm glad you were able to come, I really enjoy having you here." She smiled at him. Every word she spoke was truly. She wished that she brought him a year earlier.

Eventually the music changed to a rock song about embracing your wild side. Literally called Wild Side. Nick's ears shot up, "Aw, this is my Jam! I'm not really into your country stuff." He stood up from the table, "I'll see you on the dance floor Carrots, and I can't miss this one." He sauntered over to the dancing area wagging his tail along with the music. Judy was entranced by what she saw. She laughed as she saw her partner move in extremely odd ways, scaring some of the patrons who did not yet realize a fox was at the festival and drawing quite a bit of attention from her siblings. She couldn't help but smile. This gave her a warm fuzzy feeling that she couldn't put a finger on.

A bright white light appear in her peripheral vision. She looked over and saw an extremely luxurious car making its way to the front gate. It was a large black sedan with dark tinted windows. Judy didn't know much about cars, but she knew this one was waaaay out of her budget. The car pulled over and a large black wolf in a dark suit stepped out of the front seat. Judy stood; they weren't expecting any other predators to come to the festival.

She made her way to the fence and crouched behind it to hide as much of herself as she could. It's rude to assume he is up to no good because he is a predator. What would Nick think? She sighed. The dark wolf made his way to the back seat and opened the door to let the passenger out.

A silver rabbit with black stripes on his head and ears stepped out of the car. He brushed off his suit and made his way to the main gate, leaving behind the wolf to park the car. I completely forgot he was coming! I remember that he messaged me yesterday that he was in town, but I completely forgot! She saw him make his way to the front gate trying to walk into the festival, but Wolfe put his paw down and stopped him from entering. Judy turned her ears in their direction to hear the conversation.

The rabbit looked up in disgust, "What do you want?"

Wolfe cracked an awkward smile, "Well sir, uh . . . you see there is a guest list." Wolfe pointed at the list in his hand. "You have to be on the list to get into the festival. So what is your name sir?"

The rabbit raised an eyebrow, "You don't know who I am?"

Wolfe shook his head as he grabbed the pen resting by his ear, "No sir, otherwise I wouldn't have asked you."

The rabbit scoffed, "I don't need your sass wolf; the name is Jack. Jack Savage. I am certain that I am on the list."

Wolfe searched the list and flipped a few pages before he shook his head again, "I'm sorry sir, but I don't see your name anywhere on this list."

The rabbit looked like he was ready to debate before Judy stood up, "It's okay Wolfe he's with me." She said.

Jack looked towards Judy and smiled, "Judy! Long time no see. It's so good to see you." He walked over and gave her a hug. Judy loves hugs, but this went on a little long before she pushed off.

"Hey Jack, it has been a while. I see you have been doing well for yourself."

He straightened up his collar and fixed his bowtie, "Thanks Judes, you actually became a cop? Can't say I'm not surprised." Just as he finished speaking he looked over her shoulder, "Bonnie!" Jack strode behind her and gave her mother a hug.

As she went to follow him, she saw Wolfe. He was staring intently at Jack. Wolfe had the most serious expression she had ever seen. It even rivaled Chief Bogo. Once Wolfe noticed her looking at him, he snapped out of it and gave her an awkward smile and rubbed the back of his head.

She turned and walked over to her mother and Jack. They had just finished their greeting and Bonnie began walking away as Judy caught up to him. He smiled and they made their way to the table that Judy and Nick were sitting at.

Jack sat next to Judy, "So tell me what exactly you do Jack, that you make so much money."

He raised an eyebrow, "Why do you want to know officer? Am I being audited?"

She laughed, "That's not my job, besides I'm just curious if I chose the wrong line of work."

He smiled, "Well I'm a businessman. I took over the company from my father and grew it to new heights. Honestly the company is just a collection of real estate. Shop owners pay us rent to use our store fronts. I own quite a few in downtown Zootopia and Savannah Central."

Judy's eyes were wide. It's amazing what he has accomplished. The current song that was playing had stopped and switched to a country song. "I wonder what would have happened if we stayed together in high school," she said.

"It's still not too late to find out," Jack reached his paw over and placed it on top of Judy's. She looked up at him and he gave her a warm smile. Judy's ears started to turn pink. Would I have even become and officer? Or would I have just ended up as a stay at home rabbit?

The sound of panting interrupted her thoughts. "Phew, Carrots that song always –" Nick stopped dead in his tracks. He looked at their hands then looked at Jack. Not once did he look at Judy. His ears fell behind his head and his tail sagged onto the ground. Judy couldn't tell what his emotions were. If she had to guess it looked like something between being hurt or upset.

It wasn't until Jack turned around and looked at Nick that his expression changed. First it switched to shock then immediately it switched to something else. Something more sinister. He looked pissed. A snarl was forming on the front of his muzzle.

Jack leaned in towards Judy, "Judy, I don't mean to frighten you, but there is a fox at the festival." He swallowed, "I think he wants to eat me." Judy closed her paw around Jack's.

"Don't worry Jack this is my partner Nick," she waved her paw at Nick, "he won't hurt you. I've got him under control." She gave Nick a wink and he did not respond. Her smile faded. At first it was kind of cute, him being a little protective or maybe jealous, but this was ridiculous.

"Nick, this is an old friend of mine Jack." Judy said, but Nick still didn't respond. "Nick," still nothing. "NICK!" Finally he turned towards her and looked at her as if he had just realized she was there, "This is an old friend, Jack. Jack. Nick."

Jack raised a paw up to the fox, "How do you do?"

Nick merely scoffed. He made a quick glance at Judy then he turned his back and walked away with his paws in his pockets. She knew that look. It was his signature "Never let 'em see that they get to you."

Jack turned to Judy, "What was that all about?"

She shook her head, "Honestly I have no idea. I'm going to have to confront him about that."

For the next couple of hours, Judy spent the night with Jack. They danced, talked and caught up with each other's lives. Telling stories about what they accomplished since they separated back in high school. Judy was worried about Nick. Since he left, she did not see him for the majority of the festival.

The truth is, some of the feelings that she had for Jack were slowly coming back to her. They had dated for a brief moment in time in the past. They were rather enjoyable, but he broke it off when he moved to Zootopia. It was heartbreaking.

She really did care for him. Judy was still not able to shake the thought of Nick. He acted so strangely. She had never seen him act that way. He is probably just being protective. Well it's not his business anyways. She basically blamed it on him being a territorial predator. That is to be expected, but she's not his to claim.

Jack grabbed Judy's hand, "Hey Judy, the party is starting to wind down. How about you and I head to my place. I have a driver that can take us there right now, it's a small mansion just outside of Zootopia." Judy smiled. She has never been to a mansion before. Besides it might be nice to let loose for once in her life. She remembered Nick.

She sighed, "I'm sorry Jack, I came with Nick. I am going to need to take him home."

Jack waved his paw, "Nonsense, I'll have one of my other drivers come over as soon as possible to take care of him. He won't owe me a cent."

She considered this for a bit. Nick's a big boy; he can take care of himself. He'd understand, besides Jack is will help him out. "Sure thing Jack," she answered. They walked around the festival and said goodbye to her parents as well as a few of her siblings.

Just as they started making their way to the main gate, they were intercepted by a fox. He stumbled over with red, half-lidded eyes. He smelled like alcohol and his speech slurred, "The hell do you think you're doing," he tried to poke Jack, "you filthy rabbit."

"Nick!" He looked at Judy and squinted trying to see her better, "Are you drunk? I thought you didn't drink."

He hobbled, "Only on special occasions Flarrots." He put a paw to his chest they pointed exasperatedly at Jack before turning to Judy, "I'll ask you then. What. . . Are you doing with this," he waved his paw at the stripped rabbit, "f - *hiccup* - king maniac." Judy's eyes widened with anger at his sudden increase in colorful language.

She looked at him incredulously, "I was going home with him, but that's none of your business Nick."

His eyes widened, "I've made it my business so that I can –" Wolfe suddenly appeared with his arm around Nick interrupting him.

"Come on Buddy," the wolf said, "let's go sit down." Nick tried to protest but Wolfe cut him off, "Not worth it." The two of them walked over to the nearest table where Nick just laid on top of and passed out. Wolfe shook his head then walked back over to the main gate. Jack tugged on Judy's arm beckoning her back to his car. She followed.

As they made their way past the main gate out towards the parking lot, a large paw stopped Judy from advancing. "What do you think you are doing Judy?" The wolf asked.

She rolled her eyes, "Not you too. I'm going home with Jack."

Wolfe raised an eyebrow, "But you came here with Nick. Shouldn't you take him home?" Wolfe looked over his shoulder at the sleeping fox that was being poked by a few of her siblings. "Especially the state he's in."

Jack chimed in, "I am going to call one of my drivers to pick him up. Besides it's not Judy's problem or fault that the stupid fox decided to get drunk."

Wolfe glared at Jack then turned to Judy, "Maybe so, but it's the right thing to do. He's your partner. You know he would do the same thing." Jack's car just pulled in front of them and the driver stepped out to open the back door.

Judy sighed, "Maybe another time Jack, I feel really bad leaving Nick behind like this. I am going to take him home. Keep in touch." She let go of Jack's hand and walked back towards Nick. As she was walking she perked her ears up and listened into Wolfe's conversation with Jack.

"What the hell dude?" She heard Jack say, "Did you seriously do that. She's not his mother. He's a grown ass fox and can handle himself."

"Not in that state. You underestimate how much Judy cares for others. You should give it a try."

Jack just scoffed then spit. She could only imagine what he spit on. A few seconds later she heard the door to the car close. When she finally reached Nick she heard a yelp. She turned around and saw Wolfe crouched on the floor with both of his paws covering the check of his left eye. It was too dark to fully see that was happening. At that moment the car also drove off.

She sighed then stirred the sleeping fox awake. He mumbled a bit then got to his feet. Judy supported his as best as she could and walked him towards the main gate. As they slowly approached she got a better view of Wolfe and saw that he had three large claw marks under his left eye. She looked at him in concern and when he noticed this he just waved her off and mouthed the words "I fell."

Eventually they made it back to her car. After struggling to get him in the passenger seat and buckled in, she hopped over on the driver side. She turned the car on and looked over to check on Nick. He was already fast asleep. She began driving home. Without the annoying fox making jokes and talking to her, it felt like this trip back took a lot longer.

She was still surprised of what happened today. Nick was acting weird and ended up getting drunk. Jack seemingly wanting to rekindle their relationship. It was all very confusing and stressful. She was going to yell at Nick tomorrow when he is sober.

The only thing she knew was that Nick's snores were hilarious. After every bump or so he would snort and smack his lips before snoring. And every time it made her chuckle. He might be a dumb fox, but he had his moments. Tonight was not one of them.

After a few hours of driving with only Nick's snores as her entertainment, they arrived at his apartment at 1955 Cypress Grove Lane. She woke him up and dragged him out of the car. She supported him and tried to make their way up the stairs to his apartment. After nearly falling a couple of times, they arrived at his apartment number 32.

She then realized that she did not have a key to his apartment. Judy stuck her paws in Nick's pockets trying to find the apartment key. Nick started giggling, "Little paws tickle." She rolled her eyes and shifted him onto his other side. She pulled out his wallet and grabbed the key that was inside. She couldn't help herself and she looked at a few of the other contents in his wallet.

He had a credit card, driver's license, a few hundred dollar bills, and most significant, the ticket stub to the movie that they saw yesterday right next to a picture of the two of them at Nick's graduation from the police academy. She smiled before quickly shoving all of the contents back into the wallet and in his pocket then opened the apartment door.

She has been in his apartment a few times, but it was just a clean as always. Nice beige walls and dark oak cabinets and molding. There was a large and comfortable blue sofa in the middle of the room facing the TV on the wall. In between the TV and the kitchen there was a door that led to Nick's room. She walked him over there and into his bedroom. It was very minimalist in the bedroom that only contained the bed with black and silver sheets and a dark wooden nightstand. She plopped Nick on his bed, turned him on his side and slowly walked out of the room. Before she even closed the door his snores began again.

She looked out into the cozy apartment. She sat down on the couch and leaned her head back. THAT was a long and rough drive. I'll rest my eyes here for a minute to make sure I am able to drive safely back to my apartment. And with that thought, she immediately passed out on the couch.

She shot her head up and looked around. She was still on the couch and she let out a sigh of relief. Then something moved and she jumped. Looking down she saw a large red vulpine head lying on her lap. The fox looked up at her, "Everything okay Carrots?"

She blinked a few times, "Yea I'm fine, I'm just wondering how you got here."

He looked at her confused before yawning, "How I got here? You dragged me here."

She shook her head, "No Nick, how you ended up on the couch, I dragged you on your bed."

He raised an eyebrow, "Hey you are the one that asked me and wanted to sleep on the couch. It's not that weird sleeping in my bed after we had sex."

She choked, "We what!?" She looked down and saw that she was not wearing any clothes. She moved her paws trying to cover herself up. She then looked at the fox and realized he too was not wearing any clothes. He was just looking at her with a confused and scared look.

Judy then woke up breathing heavily. She was sweating and extremely warm, especially around the ears. She looked around; she was sitting in a bed that she had been previously sleeping in. She had no idea what bed she was in, or what room she was in. The last thing she remembered was sleeping on the couch, and then . . . doing promiscuous activities with her partner. Now she was in an unfamiliar location all together.

This week just keep getting weirder and weirder.
