"Oh, Nico you're up too." Percy said.
"Um... yeah. I'm hungry." Nico replied.
Leo was awake.
Half an hour ago, he decided to sleep. Or was it five minutes? Either way, when he woke up he was trembling harshly, shaking like a a flag in a hurricane, and hyperventilating. He almost cried. Almost. But now he had stumbled onto the deck and was so lost in thought, he didn't hear three monsters land on the deck. Before he knew it, his body was paralyzed and up in the air. He saw scenes from hist worst nightmares. Not what most people see. He didn't see spiders. Nor clowns. He didn't see a phobia. He saw his past.
"Did you hear that?" Nico asked.
"What?" Percy replied, confused.
"Nothing... 'Night." Nico mumbled and began to walk back to his room. Then he heard in again, but shock it off. Maybe he's tired?
The pain was excruciating and Leo could hardly breath. He was submersed into his mind so that the visions were all he could see or hear. He couldn't move. But he tries to scream. He knew it must have sounded pathetic but to him it sounded like a frightened 5 year old on the fastest, most dangerous roller coaster in the world. He tried again. Then he tried something different.
"NICO!"
It was gurgled and hard to hear but Nico heard it. It wasn't his imagination. And it sounded like... Leo?
"Per-"
"Yeah. I heard it too." Both boys began sprinting to the deck.
Oh my...
Holy
GODS!
Shit.
"Nico... go sound the alarm." Percy whispered... Hehe, sound the alarm.
Nico ran and hit the button that would wake everyone on the ship. In only a minute of two the reaming demigods ran onto the deck.
"Wha-" Anabeth's voice faltered. "These monsters... forget what they're called but they're very dangerous. They paralyze you and torture you. Mentally and physically. For some, they see their biggest fear. But some see past memories." Nico frowned at this. Who knew how much Leo had been through? The nightmares seemed so... horrible. Worse than regular nightmares. Worse than demigod dreams. His were real. They'd happened.
