Chapter 2

Panic

Synopsis

Sonic panics, forgets his tablet, calms down, goes to grab his tablet, and panics again.

Chest heaving, fur ruffled. Sonic laid spread eagle on the metal desk, gasping for breath. He pushed himself up, sliding off the desk, landing on his unsteady feet. His whole body ached, and he winced as he bent to grab his discarded clothes. The hedgehog wrapped the unbuttoned shirt around himself, shivering even though he wasn't cold. Sonic pulled his pants on, hissing in pain. His fingers fumbled with the buttons of his long sleeve shirt, and he hopped as he put his black shoes back on.

Smoothing his quills and fur, he glanced at his reflection in the metal desk. A young, foreign hedgehog gazed back at him, emerald eyes dead and haunted that were accented by a thin dark ring, red bite marks hiding the freckles splattered on fawn cheeks. He inhaled sharply, looking away.

Deeming himself acceptable, Sonic swiftly left the room, wanting to get as far away as he could. The lecherous grin was burned into his mind, and no matter how fast he walked, he couldn't escape it. It hurt to go faster, but he did. The panicked hedgehog breezed through halls, and when he tripped and scraped his palms, he didn't even notice. All he could think about was him. He swore to protect him, but instead he hurts him! Sonic didn't understand, it hurt, it hurts, get it out!

Taking a deep shuddering breath, the hedgehog closed his eyes. He didn't mean to hurt him. The Doctor would never hurt him on purpose. The Doctor says it's just a way to show how much he loves him. Satisfied with the answer, Sonic stood, still taking deep breaths. He smoothed himself down again, adjusting his collar. Regulating his breathing, he set off, noticing with a scowl he had left his tablet behind in his mad, silly rush to escape.

Sonic turned on his heel, storming back the way he'd ran. His palms stung and little cuts littered them. It looked like he'd be wearing gloves for the next week or so. The hedgehog's shoes clicked when they hit the ground, the sound amplified and echoed by the empty hall.

Despite knowing that it was love, Sonic still felt dread curling like a dragon in his stomach. He cautiously stepped forward, allowing a laser to scan his eye. The door slid open with a silent woosh, and he crept through. The hedgehog spied his tablet on the floor next to the throne and quickly sped to it.

He jumped when the throne spun around, showcasing the human that sat upon it. He trembled in fear as Robotnik stood and kneeled to grab his tablet. The round human walked to the shivering hedgehog, each step heavy. He stopped barely a metre away, beckoning for his secretary to come closer. Timidly, Sonic obeyed, shuffling closer. Once he deemed the hedgehog close enough, Robotnik extended the hand holding the tablet, which was quickly snatched away and hugged close. Robotnik struck out, grasping the hedgehog's clothes and tugging him into the doctor's gut. Pressed against his Lord's body, a hand tightly gripping his waist and another gently scratching behind his ears. "Oh, you're freezing! This is terrible!" Robotnik exclaimed. Sonic squeaked as he was held tighter. "I want you to go to your room and warm up."

Sonic nodded, attempting to move away. The human leaned down, his hot, putrid breath hitting the inside of the hedgehog's ear. "I do this because I love you," he whispered, and the hand on the hedgehog's waist moved lower to grope his backside. As soon as he was released, Sonic backpedaled, giving a short bow before retreating from the room.

"Thank you for your benevolence Lord Robotnik!" He called over his shoulder as he left.

"Just remember, I do this because I love you." Sonic was incredibly aware of the unseen eyes on his waist as he left, and his face flushed at the appreciative murmur. The hedgehog rushed through the white, sterile labyrinth, barely noticing anything.

When he stepped into his room, he locked the door behind. Pressing his back against the wall, he slid down, sitting on the soft carpet. His lower half still ached. Taking deep, stuttering breaths, Sonic began to mumble amongst his near hyperventilation. "He loves me, this is fine. He loves me, this is fine…" His attempt at self comfort didn't work, to his dismay.

Pushing himself to his feet, Sonic stumbled to his bed, collapsing onto the soft mattress. Kicking off his shoes, the hedgehog dove under the covers, curling into a ball. He swiftly uncurled, feeling vulnerable. His quills were far too short, having always been sheared close to his face. Shivering, Sonic managed to fall asleep despite the mounting panic.
