Wasabi fangirling was adorable and GoGo teaching little kids is making me rewrite Moving Too Fast and some people have the audacity to say Season 3 is bad?
Anyways, this hellsite is apparently working again so go read Love Languages! I'm super proud of it!
As for why I wrote this story? I just thought that Wasabi going out with a member of 4 2 Sing would be adorable. It's the cheesy I dated my celebrity crush fanfic that I never wrote when I was twelve so we're writing it now and, miraculously, not about real people.
But surely this is a one-time thing? No. This ship is adorable and you can pry it out of my cold dead hands. Wasabi is good with pretty much anyone you ship him with. (I'm hesitant to include Chris in this list because evil clone)
Also please go check out the song I'd Rather Dance With You by the Kings of Convenience obviously it's where I got the title of the fic and it's so good.
"This is the height of summer romance," Fred squealed, barging into his best friend's immaculate apartment and flopping down on Wasabi's couch, "other than Olivia and I."
"What are you doing here? What did you hear?" Wasabi crossed his arms.
"Oh come on everyone knows about your date with Sun-Kwan."
"Kwan-Sun."
"See, you know his name!"
"I know his name because he's on that poster over there," Wasabi said, gesturing towards the wall opposite Fred. Fred dashed over, reading the names on the poster. The blond was Dae, his red-headed twin was Hyun-Ki, and the purple-haired and blue-haired twins were Ye Joon and Kwan-Sun respectively. They'd each signed their names, but Kwan-Sun's signature was different.
"To My Dearest Wesley, Kwan-Sun. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, you have a blue-haired boyfriend and I have a blue-haired girlfriend! We should double date!"
"He's not my boyfriend! We're not dating!"
"Why're you wearing that shirt?" Fred peered at Wasabi critically.
"What shirt? I'm just wearing a shirt. I wear shirts."
"No, you wear sweaters. This… This is a button-up. A very nice button-up, Wasabi. Or should I say, Dearest Wesley?" Wasabi wore a very clean, plain white-button up, with the sleeves cuffed to show off his biceps. He did not wear this on casual occasions. His normal green headband had been swapped out for a navy blue one, perhaps to match his date's hair.
"You should not say that. Why are you even in my apartment?" Fred placed his hands on Wasabi's shoulders.
"I'm here to get you pumped! I wasn't kidding, everyone who's anyone knows about your date with Kwan-Sun."
"Fine. So we're going out tonight. It's nothing. I'd barely even call it a date."
"You have to tell me everything, how'd you guys formally meet? Outside of Big Hero 6?"
"We met because of Big Hero 6."
Fred frowned, "He doesn't know…?"
"Of course not, nobody knows. Except for Granville, and Megan, and a lot of the police force, and Krei, but none of that was my fault."
"So how'd you meet Kwan-Sun because of Big Hero 6?"
"I hung around after we made our appearance at their concert, in my civilian clothes, I wanted to get a signed poster, and I asked Kwan-Sun if he really knitted and told him that I made the sweater that I was wearing at the time and- Well. Yeah."
"Oh my gosh, you're knitting soulmates. I'm gonna think of so many knitting puns I just have to figure out the difference between knitting and crocheting."
"Oh well, knitting- actually I'm not going to tell you. You can't make a big deal out of this, Fred."
"It is a big deal! I'm happy for you, Wes."
Wasabi allowed himself the smallest smile, "Thanks. I'm kind of worried about it. I don't want to call it a date if he doesn't want to call it a date but I have to say, it feels like, like…"
"Like fanfiction? Like oh, I got a date with the cute pop-singer!"
"I was going to say fantasy, but yeah."
Fred looked Wasabi square in the eyes, "Don't worry about it, Wasabi. You're the coolest guy I know. You're probably Kwan-Sun's fantasy. You deserve this more than anyone I know. Go get 'em, tiger."
Wasabi checked his watch, "Yeah, I should probably be heading out."
Fred flopped down on the couch, "Don't worry, I'll wait up."
"Fred, get out of my house. And don't tell the others about this!"
"Fine." Fred made his exit and Wasabi psyched himself up for a few minutes, before heading to the club where he was supposed to meet Kwan-Sun.
"You look incredible, I feel underdressed," the pop-singer confessed when he saw his date. Kwan-Sun ran his fingers over the buttons instinctively, and Wasabi let out a shiver. The white and blue suit that Wasabi had grown used to seeing on stage and in front of super villains was swapped out for a white and blue varsity jacket and a black t-shirt with the 4 2 Sing logo on it.
"No, you look great. I just feel lucky to be here with you tonight," Wasabi admitted, studying his shoes.
"Chin up, dear, I'm the lucky one." Wasabi met Kwan-Sun's eyes and his heart started to race, and he was pretty sure it wasn't because of the loud music.
Kwan-Sun grabbed Wasabi's hand, grinning, "Come on, let's dance." Wasabi definitely felt out of his element here, though he was by no means a bad dancer he was no professional, and to be dancing with someone as breathtaking as Kwan-Sun? It was nerve-wracking.
"You'll never believe how hard it was to convince Ye Joon to let me have the night off," Kwan-Sun said, half drowned-out by the music.
"What?" Wasabi asked, pointing at his ears.
"I said you'll never believe-" Realizing that it was frivolous and that his date was taller than him anyway, Kwan-Sun reached up and put his hands on either side of Wasabi's face and pulled it toward him so that Wasabi could hear him better. But Wasabi's brain kind of short-circuited, and something got lost in translation, and he was kissing Kwan-Sun, quick but electric. Now Kwan-Sun was the one who was breathless.
"Oh. Oh!"
"Sorry," Wasabi blurted, but Kwan-Sun was grinning from ear to ear.
"Can I kiss you?" Kwan-Sun asked, but the music was too loud so he just did, a bit longer than the first kiss. When their lips were mere centimeters apart they made a quiet agreement that talking could wait, for now, they'd just dance. Though anyone with a Krei-phone could prove that Kwan-Sun and his mystery date did a little bit more than just dancing.
A few hours later, as night was approaching morning, they left the club, feeling dizzy with excitement at the start of something new. Kwan-Sun was wearing Wasabi's headband and Wasabi's dreadlocks fell in his face a bit, and Kwan-Sun was really trying hard not to swoon.
"Let's go to my place," Wasabi suggested, clutching Kwan-Sun's hand. It seemed like he hadn't let go of that hand for several hours, and the celebrity wasn't complaining.
"Absolutely. We'll finally be able to talk, and," Kwan-Sun glanced at a girl taking pictures of them, "have privacy."
"You were trying to tell me something in the club before we decided talking wasn't important," Wasabi mentioned as he unlocked the door to his apartment, hoping that Kwan-Sun wouldn't find any of the 4 2 Sing merch lying around tasteless or cheesy.
"I was just saying that Ye Joon wasn't too excited about our date…" Kwan-Sun said as they sprawled over the couch together, still holding hands, still staring deeply into each other's eyes.
"I get that, I have brothers too. It's hard not to be overprotective. I hope he'll like me, though. If this isn't…"
"Isn't what?" Kwan-Sun asked, cupping Wasabi's face in his hand.
"If it isn't a one-night thing. I understand if it is, we're from different worlds-" Kwan-Sun silenced Wasabi's worries by kissing him deeply, undoing the buttons on Wasabi's shirt. It was enough of an answer. Even if this was a one-night thing, it would be a wonderful night.
There was a knock on the door. Kwan-Sun's hair was wet and he'd raided Wasabi's closet, wearing a very comfortable and very large sweater, since he and his hot date were not matched in muscle-tone. Wasabi was still sound asleep on the bed, looking so peaceful. So Kwan-Sun opened the door to a very excitable blond.
"Wasabi I brought muffins tell me about your date-" Then Fred realized who he was talking to, "Never mind I don't have enough muffins."
"If we don't wake sleeping beauty, we can share the muffins," Kwan-Sun said with a conspiratorial grin, "I'm Kwan-Sun."
"I'm Fred, your new biggest fan. I assume the date went well?"
"Better than I ever could've imagined."
"Good, because Wes is a good guy. Don't hurt him, okay?"
Kwan-Sun took Fred's muffin, "I won't. I promise. People like him don't come around all the time. I don't want to lose that. I don't want to break his heart and mine in the process."
"Good. I think we're going to be excellent friends, Sun-Kwan."
"It's Kwan-Sun."
"I'll work on that..."
