Author's Note: I am following the Percy Jackson writing setup and the Olympians series by Rick Riordian. I will also be making a version of this story from a third-person perspective AFTER I FINISH THE FIRST-PERSON series.
Chapter 1: I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher and Summon a Monster From a Trading Card (Part 1)
My name is Percy Jackson. I am a demigod (as you will see in my discovery). I never asked to be one. Oh well, at least I got cool powers from the deal. Shame I have to fight monsters for them, anyway, on with the story. You will get to see how my twelve-year-old, superhero-obsessed self became a "superhero," also known as a demigod. I will be continuing here using present-tense terms.
I am a Yancy Academy student, a private school in the North Riverdale area of New York City. My group of friends that I have made there are Grover Underwood, a youthful boy (though I highly suspect he isn't a boy but a young man based on his acne and beard) with beautiful antique bronze eyes that are brought out even more by his lightly tanned skin with his face being framed by his chestnut hair that in his back reaches to his nape; Autumn Kaiba, a beautiful young woman (since she is nearing the age of 16) with her cherry blossom pink eyes which are slightly brought out by her slightly tanned Japanese skin tone that's framed with her honey-blonde which is highlighted with copper, cedar chest, and carnation pink stripes that reaches to her waist and is the upcoming heir to Kaiba Corp; and Vivian "Viper" Kyogo is a pretty fifteen-year-old (nearing sixteen) girl with shocking cerulean blue eyes that are highlighted by her pale skin which is highlighted by her Hawaiian blue (1) hair which reaches the middle of her back. Grover and I had been casually dueling in the game Duel Monsters before Autumn and Viper came over to us during lunch a week into the school year and began to tutor us in the game in exchange for our help in Latin.
My current deck in Duel Monsters is entirely based around the Water attribute, while Grover's deck is based around spirits. Autumn says that she has a ton of decks, but the most common deck type I see her use is Magical HERO. Viper uses her brutal but effective deck of ice and snakes, which she calls Freezing Venom. I have a decent win/lost ratio against both Autumn and Grover, but Viper kicks both Grover and my asses every duel. Autumn's the only student I have seen in the Academy that has been able to go up against her with a decent win/loss ratio. The only staff member I have seen play Duel Monsters is the Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner. He doesn't have a single deck type, but he has the third-best win/lost ratio of the entire Duelists in Yancy Academy.
Mr. Brunner's classes are AWESOME; he has this massive collection of trading cards, armor, weapons, and tomes in his office and classroom. I couldn't even begin to list off the types of weapons and armor that he has. He has many degrees in archeology, history, English, Japanese, philosophy, religious studies, and geography. His classes are brain-tasking but entertaining. He rarely uses a textbook and has us take notes. At the same time, he tells us myths and legends from the Ancient Roman and Ancient Greek eras before he has an open discussion of the meanings and various interpretations of them. Then he has these tournament days where he then challenges us to a duel where we fight him chalk to swordpoint. The winner then has to go up to the chalkboard and then list every single Ancient Greek and Roman person and every deity that they worshipped. Seriously, what the hell does he expect from us?
I am currently sitting on a school bus next to Grover with him being slammed in the head by, the class bully of the sixth graders, Nancy Bobofit's peanut butter, ketchup, jelly, and Nutella sandwich chunks. So slightly off-topic, that's a disgusting sandwich. Seriously who eats that kinda crap! Ok, back to the story. Grover getting that 'sandwich' pelted into his hair. I was beginning to get ticked off and began to mutter to myself death threats to Nancy. Honestly, the only reason I was holding back was that I would lose my freedom to do club activities due to in-school suspension by the headmaster for anything that was 'mildly entertaining.' Stupid past… (2)
1: To look up Hawaii Blue, I just like Hawaiian blue better for writing.
2: Just using the reasons for Percy's expulsions from the first book.
