It was a quarter to twelve in the town of Duckburg, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie were running downtown as if their lives depended on them not stopping. Louie, lagging behind his brothers, looked like he would fall down and collapse at any minute.

"Tell me again why we can't take a break for just a few minutes?," Louie asked, almost completely out of breath.

"Because, Llewellyn, it was you who lost your permission slip for martial arts classes at the Lou Jitsu dojo; you had the whole week to find it, and now, because of you, we have to hand in your permission slip before it turns midnight and the deadline is reached," explained Huey, exasperated from the running and because of his younger brother's negligence.

Louie stared daggers into the back of Huey's head due to him addressing Louie by his full name.

"First of all, do not call me by my full name, or there will be consequences, Huebert. Second of all, they were airing a week-long marathon of the Ottoman Empire, and there was no way I was going to miss out on that."

Huey turned his head around and glared at his brother for the response he gave, causing Louie to roll his eyes in response.

"What I don't understand is why we have to go with Louie to turn in his permission slip when it was his fault," Dewey questioned, frustration clearly in his voice.

Huey sighed, "Because, if we had let Louie go by himself, he would most likely have gotten sidetracked and ended up not turning the permission slip in on time."

"Why did Mom want us to take to self-defense classes anyway? We've never needed them before, so why would we need them now?," Louie asked.

"I don't know, she never really gave a reason why, she just kept insisting that we take some type of martial arts class. However, I think it might be because recently, the adventures that we have been going on have become more and more dangerous, and Mom wants us to have at least some way to defend ourselves," Huey theorized.

Dewey scoffed at his older brother's notion, "Oh please, it's not like the adventures we've been going lately have been any more dangerous than all the other ones we've gone on."

"Are you serious right now; we all almost got burned alive by a dragon five times, got turned into vampires, almost got killed by a mob with wooden stakes while looking for the cure to turn us back, had to fight three minotaurs at once, and almost died by a clan of ninjas, and that only happened on one adventure," Huey recalled.

Before Dewey could retort, something caught Huey's eye, "Guys, look, the dojo is right over there," Huey announced, pointing towards the dojo up ahead.

Once Louie saw what Huey said was true, he started to slow down, "Finally, I thought we were never going to make it in time," Louie admitted.

When the triplets finally made it to the dojo, Louie plopped down onto his back on the sidewalk. He reached into his hoodie's pocket, unfolded a piece of paper that turned out to be his permission slip, and reached his hand out so that one of his brothers could take it, "Hey, do you guys mind taking this and submitting it for me while I recover?," Louie asked Huey and Dewey.

Huey sighed in frustration before slightly reaching down and taking the slip out of Louie's hand, "Fine, but don't think for a second that Dewey and I are going to carry you home."

"Yeah, yeah," Louie grumbled before motioning them away with a wave of his hand.

Huey and Dewey rolled their eyes before walking inside the dojo. Once they walked inside, they noticed a receptionist sitting at her desk before walking over to her.

Once Huey and Dewey started making their way over to the receptionist, she noticed their presence and turned her attention to them.

"Hello, how may I help you two?," the receptionist asked.

Huey reached his left hand out towards the receptionist, which had Louie's permission slip in its grasp.

"Hello, we were wondering if it was too late to turn in this permission slip for our brother?," Huey asked the receptionist.

The receptionist took out her phone so that she could check what time it was. She then took permission slip from Huey's hand, set it down on her desk, and then turned her attention back to Huey and Dewey, "You two are in luck, you made it five minutes before the deadline," the receptionist told the two brothers.

Both Huey and Dewey sighed in relief, thankful that they made it just in time.

"Thank you, and I hope you have a good night," Huey told the receptionist before him and Dewey made their way out of the dojo.

"I hope you two have a good night as well," the receptionist told Huey and Dewey before they exited the dojo.

Once outside, Huey once again sighed in relief, before turning his attention to Dewey.

"That was such a close call, we're lucky that dojos that are owned by Lou Jitsu all hold classes until midnight," Huey pointed out.

Dewey nodded his head in agreement, "Yeah, we're definitely lucky we made it in time; it took forever to find a dojo that Uncle Scrooge was willing to pay for us to take classes in, finding another dojo would be the absolute worst, right Louie?"

As Dewey and Huey turned their attention to where their younger brother was laying down before, they noticed that he was no longer there.

"Uh, Louie, where are you bro?," Dewey called out as he started looking around for Louie.

"Louie, if this is your idea of a prank, then it isn't funny!," Huey yelled as he began feeling nervous that something happened to his little brother.

"Louie, come on bro, stop messing around, Huey's starting to get freaked out and I want to go home!," Dewey called out to his brother again. Dewey's shouting garnered no response, making him feel nervous.

"Do not worry young ones, you will be joining your brother momentarily," a voice that came from behind Huey and Dewey reassured.

Before Huey and Dewey could turn around, they felt someone chop the back of their necks, causing them to get knocked unconscious.

Dewey slowly opened his eyes and groggily looked around the room that he was in, before noticing a few things. The first thing that Dewey noticed was that the room that he was currently in was not his and his brothers room. The second thing that he noticed was that he was inside some weird laboratory with many strange looking machines. The third thing that Dewey noticed was that across the room from him there was a man chained to the wall who had black feathers and long hair that was tied into a ponytail. He wore a white t-shirt, white pants with red stripes on the side of both legs, and white elevator shoes. There was something about that man that seemed familiar to Dewey, but he didn't know what. The final thing that Dewey noticed was that he was also chained to the wall, and his brothers were also chained right next to him. Dewey tried breaking out of the chains, to no avail.

"I don't know who did this, but once I break out of these chains, you are so gonna pay for this!," Dewey yelled as he continued to try and break out of his chains.

"You can try breaking those chains as much as you like puny earthling, but you will never be able to break free. Do not worry though, once you have fulfilled your purpose, I will release you," a voice that came from the dark corner of the room told Dewey.

Suddenly, the person who the voice belonged to stepped out of the shadows to reveal themself. Once the person revealed themselves to Dewey, Dewey saw that whoever was in front of him was no person, but a monster. The monster was large and muscular, with a blue facial mask with gold horns that stuck out from both sides of the mask. He wore dark teal gloves, a dark teal top that covered his neck and had two shoulderguards that resembled two small gargoyles, a blue belt with a gold trimming, and a teal waist trail with a long blue-green loincloth.

"What are you, and what do you want with me and my brothers?," Dewey asked in an aggravated tone.

The monster chuckled at Dewey, "My name is Baron Draxum, but you may call me Draxum, and my plans for you three will be revealed very soon, but first, let's wake your brothers and our other guest, shall we?"

Draxum then clapped his hands together, which caused the two small gargoyle armguards to fly off his shoulders, revealing themselves to be actual gargoyles. The two gargoyles looked almost exactly the same, except for one key difference: one gargoyle had a smaller tail than the other

"Huginn and Muninn, please wake our sleeping guests up," Draxum commanded his gargoyle henchmen.

The gargoyle who had the smaller tail between the two, known as Muninn, saluted his boss, followed by his companion Huginn who also saluted their boss before the two of them flew over Huey and Louie. Muninn and Huginn both took a deep breath before yelling, "WAKE UP!", in the faces of Huey and Louie, causing them to wake up.

"What's going on, where am I, why am I chained to a wall, and am I seeing things or are there two small gargoyles in front of me?!," Huey questioned, scared due to not knowing what was going on.

"Hey, what's the big idea?!," Louie asked, angered due to being woken up in such an annoying manner.

Muninn and Huginn then flew over to the man on the other side of the laboratory that Dewey noticed when he first woke up. They then yelled into both of his ears to wake up, causing him to wake up in shock.

"Ahhh! Where am I, and why am I chained to a wall?!," the man with black feathers asked.

Draxum turned his attention to the man and smiled sinisterly, "Oh, don't you remember our agreement Yoshi? You said that I could do whatever I wanted with you as long as I got you out of that cage you were rotting in."

Huey looked at Yoshi in disbelief, "Why would you agree to a deal like that; how did a literal monster telling you that he would free you from your cage in exchange for your freedom seem like a good deal to you?! All he did was free you from your cage just to keep you locked up again!"

"In hindsight, I probably should have thought it through a little more before agreeing to that deal," Yoshi admitted.

Suddenly, Yoshi felt a sharp pain coming from his right arm. He turned to see what was causing the pain; Muninn had used a needle to extract a blood sample from Yoshi while Hugin held a vial underneath the needle so that the blood would go inside the vial. Once enough blood was extracted, Muninn crushed the needle before eating it while Huginn handed the vial of Yoshi's blood to Draxum.

"A little heads-up before stabbing me with a needle would have been nice!," Yoshi yowled.

Dewey and Louie rolled their eyes at Yoshi's complaining while Huey contemplated why Draxum needed Yoshi's blood. Huey's question was almost immediately answered as Draxum walked over to a table that had a beaker filled with some type of blue ooze and poured Yoshi's blood into the beaker. Once the blood came into contact with the ooze, its color changed from blue to orange.

Draxum grinned with excitement due to his concoction changing color, "Yes, after years and years of research and experimentation, my plans can finally come to fruition!," he exclaimed.

Draxum grabbed the beaker filled with orange ooze and walked over to Huey, Dewey, and Louie, once again dawning a sinister smile on his face. The look on Draxum's face caused Louie to tremble in fear, while Huey and Dewey glared at Draxum while trying to hide their anxiety.

"Now that my mutagen is finally complete, all I need to do is test out its effects on some lowly surface-dwellers; guess which lowly surface-dwellers have the honor of being the test subjects of Baron Draxum's experiment?," Draxum asked rhetorically.

As it dawned on the triplets what Draxum was implying, they all tried struggling and screaming for help, but it was to no avail.

"Scream and struggle all you want, but it is futile, the chains are made up of a synthetic metal that is stronger than steel; just relax, it won't hurt, well, at least not at first," Draxum told them.

"No, I will not let you hurt those innocent children!," Yoshi shouted before he began tugging on his chains in an attempt to break them.

"As I said before, trying to break free is futile Yoshi. Like it or not, these children will be my test subjects for my mutagen, and no one can stop me!," Draxum turned his head to tell Yoshi.

No longer delaying the inevitable, Draxum walked over to Dewey and poured some of the mutagen on top of Dewey's head, and then proceeded to do the same thing to Huey and Louie. A few seconds after the mutagen was poured on the triplets' heads, Huey, Dewey, and Louie started crying out in pain. The sound of the triplets screaming out in pain caused Yoshi to close his eyes and tug on the chain with all his might, which caused the chains to crack. As Huey, Dewey, and Louie continued to yell, they didn't notice the transformation that their bodies were going through; they grew at least one foot taller, their torsos became a bit wider, and their arms, legs, and stomachs became incredibly developed.

As Yoshi tugged his chains harder and harder, more and more cracks started appearing on the chains until the chains finally cracked. Once the chains finally broke, Yoshi fell flat on his face, causing him to groan in pain. When he got off the floor, Yoshi saw that he was too late; Huey, Dewey, and Louie's mutation was complete, and now they had incredibly developed bodies. He then noticed that three brothers had lost consciousness, which he concluded was most likely due to them not being able to handle the pain. Yoshi's attention then turned to Draxum, who was standing in front of the triplets; once Yoshi met Draxum's gaze, he glared at the horned monster.

"You were able to break out of the chains, impressive, I wouldn't expect any less from you Yoshi," Draxum admitted.

"What did you do to these children, and how did their muscles get so developed?!" Yoshi asked Draxum in a demanding tone.

"The answer is simple really, you see, all I needed to complete my mutagen was a sample of your DNA; once I poured your blood into my batch of mutagen, it was finally complete. Once it became complete, I poured the mutagen on top of those children, causing your DNA to splice with theirs, which in turn gave them some of your physical prowess," Draxum explained.

Draxum's explanation confused Yoshi, "There's something that's not adding up here; what is the point of all this, why did you go through all this trouble?"

Draxum chuckled, "You see Yoshi, now that these children contain your DNA, I can imprison them until I come up with a concoction that forces them to obey my every command. Once I do that, I will train those children to become strong soldiers, use my mutagen to create more soldiers, make the children the generals of my mutant army, and enslave the overworld and all its inhabitants!"

"I will not let you do that Draxum, I'll die before I let you brainwash those children and mutate more of my people," Yoshi declared before getting into a fighting stance.

"Now that can be arranged," Draxum told Yoshi before getting into a fighting stance of his own.
