Danny was just finishing his notes on his current case when Steve barrelled into his office.
"What the hell are you doing here? I told you to make yourself scarce." anger bubbled underneath Steve's threat.
"Fine you want me gone." Danny reached into his top drawer and pulled out a transfer notice."Sign here and here." Danny pointed to the two spots his superior would have to approve a department transfer.
"Fine." Steve took Danny's pen and signed both spots with flourish. "I expect you out by.."
"I'll be out today. I'll turn my keys into the motor pool and as soon as I get my new ID I will send through interoffice mail. Good enough for you?" Danny looked at Steve.
"It will have to do. I'm going to the hospital." Steve turned and left his office and headed out the main office.
Danny pulled out a box and packed the last of his office. Over the past few months he had been slowly packing up his office with things he wanted and throwing out paperwork he didn't need. He was glad Steve was happy to sign the transfer paperwork because he was ready to leave Five-0 for good.

Within hours Danny had turned his car to the motor pool and reported to the Chief of Detectives.
"Have a seat." COD Ken Kalama pointed to the metal chair.
Danny sat down.
"I'm surprised McGarrett let you go. You're a damn fine detective." Kalama held up the transfer paper.
Danny shrugged, not surprised by the turn of events.
"Lucky for you we just had a detective retire. You'll be taking his desk and his cases. You're sure about this." Kalama asked again.
"Yah, I'm sure. Thanks for not asking the next question. I have my stuff in my car. I switched out to my car at the motor pool. The sooner I start working the better. Oh and I'll need my I. D. replaced. I need to give McGarrett my 5-0 badge and ID."
Kalama reached into this desk, giving Danny a new HPD police badge and some paperwork.
Danny signed and then was directed to personal to get a new ID card. In a few hours Danny was officially a detective in HPD and had a new ID to prove it. He found an interoffice envelope and put his old ID and badge in it, along with the requisite paperwork, signed and dated in triplicate. He didn't want to deal with McGarrett unless he had too and knew McGarrett was stickler to go "by the books."
