A/N: And here, this is where Googie's friends from State University are introduced (you might recognize some of them). Enjoy. :)
Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost (Rewrite)
Chapter 1: To Believe or Not To Believe
At the exit of the ride, bat wings opened up in front of a goblin's mouth, making room for the coaster to arrive at a dead end and stop before the restraints opened up as Ben was waiting outside before he spoke up.
"So, how was the ride?", Ben asked.
"Jeepers. That was seriously scary. Come on, let's go again!", Daphne spoke in excitement.
"Count me in!", Moon grinned.
"No need to ask me twice.", Googie agreed as she caught up with Daphne as did Moon, Scrappy, Jay, Dilla, Damien, Rowena, Willow, and the Hex Girls.
"Well, that's one ride I'm looking forward to.", Thorn smirked.
"Ditto.", Dusk agreed.
"No argument here.", Luna smiled.
"With you all the way, Googie.", Scrappy concurred.
"I'll say.", Jay agreed.
"That ride was amazing!", Jay grinned.
"My favorite part was the vampire in a coffin.", Damien added.
"Eh. It's okay.", Rowena shrugged.
"I like the ghosts.", Willow added cheerfully.
"Ugh... let's not and say we didn't.", Velma groaned, holding her stomach.
"Agreed.", Marcie agreed, holding her own stomach as well.
"I'm with Daphne. The Ghost Coaster is by far the scariest ride at the Halloween Carnival.", Fred stated.
"And the most surprising at that.", Crystal added.
"I'm surprised you gals wanted to ride with us.", Lena admitted.
"Well, we have some free time before the big concert at midnight tonight. Besides, it really gives us some inspiration for the song we're writing.", Thorn stated.
"A new song? You girls are writing a new song?", Rowena asked in surprise.
"Yes, they are, but it may take some time before they're ready.", Ben responded.
"Good point.", Googie understood as Shaggy and Scooby were now bouncing in the spooky bounce house.
"Are you kidding? Like, that ride put the 'easy' in 'cheesy'.", Shaggy chuckled.
"Yeah. Easy.", Scooby agreed as he bounced as well before he laughed.
"Well, how about that? My Uncle Scoob finally livin' up to his image.", Scrappy smiled.
"You mean he didn't before?", Googie puzzled.
"It's complicated, all right?", Scrappy responded as Daphne placed her head in front of the hole where it showed her head just where the wicked witch is in the art as Fred did the same for the vampire and Velma for the werewolf.
"Are you sure you weren't just a little bit scared?", Daphne asked with a smile.
"By all the bloodsucking vampires?", Fred spoke in a Transylvanian accent.
"Howling werewolves?", Velma added with a smile.
"And wicked witches.", Daphne spoke with a slight witchy tone before cackling.
"My favorite monster's the werewolf.", Moon stated.
"Really?", Googie asked.
"What? I like the cute ears and tail.", Moon explained with a slight giggle.
"Well, I suppose they'd make great costumes for you.", Ben guessed as he chuckled slightly.
"He's right. I mean, you were those things last year.", Scrappy agreed.
"Nice try, gang, but Scoob and I aren't scared of any of those phony old frights.", Shaggy laughed.
"Yeah, phony frights.", Scooby agreed.
"Come on.", Fred responded.
"Not even on Halloween night?", Daphne added.
"Are you guys sure you can handle it?", Jay asked.
"Ha. Are you kidding? Like, Halloween is the one night when you know everything is fake. Just take a look around. It's nothing but wannabe witches and goofball ghosts as far as the eye can see.", Shaggy commented, not knowing that two familiar ghosts named Weerd and Bogel were watching as they popped up.
"Hey, I think he's talkin' about us, Weerd.", Bogel spoke to Weerd.
"I can't believe he'd call us goofball ghosts after what we put them through, and we even came close to winning just one time.", Weerd spoke in an appalled tone.
"Well, if I'm being honest, Weerd, we are ghosts, and, come on. We're also kinda goofballs.", Bogel exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know that, but that's not the point! Who does that guy think he is, talking about us ghosts like that? Well, I think it's time to show him how wrong he is. Dead wrong, that is.", Weerd stated.
"You got it, Weerd. And, uh, exactly how are we gonna do that?", Bogel puzzled.
"What do you think?! The Chest of Demons, you dolt! Rumor has it that it's hidden somewhere at some sort of Magic Shoppe near the carnival and that's where we're headed, but first, we can't do it alone.", Weerd explained.
"Oh. Now, I'm getting it, because we're gonna go find someone else foolish enough to open the chest and release the other 12 ghosts that were already inside.", Bogel grinned.
"And we'll get to it, but first, we need to find Fairy Princess Willow. Word is, she snuck out. If we can snatch her, we can get our hands on her light magic and then take care of the rest. Who knows? Maybe we'd even find the Chest of Demons along the way.", Weerd assured.
"But weren't we supposed to go after it first?", Bogel asked in confusion, frustrating Weerd as he groaned.
"Just get on with it.", Weerd sighed before he led the way with Bogel following him.
Meanwhile, Scooby was already eating some Cotton Candy before getting his head out, revealing that it's wrapped in cotton candy before Scooby began licking it off his head and then eating it.
"Yum, yum.", Scooby spoke before he chuckled and then saw Shaggy walking near him with a lollipop.
"But I got to admit, a holiday invented just to eat candy can't be all bad.", Shaggy commented before he bit into his lollipop, moved it to the point where it was vertical, and then bit into it before it was finished quickly.
"How about that? Even with candy, you guys eat anything.", Jay commented.
"Never a dull moment.", Marcie added before Fred saw a poster of the Amazing Krudsky.
"Hey, check it out.", Fred spoke to the group.
"Who is that?", Luna asked in wonder.
"Apparently, he is known as 'the Amazing Krudsky'.", Ben replied.
"Halloween spectacular. The Amazing Krudsky, Master of Magic.", Velma read.
"Like, I guess we could give it a try.", Crystal guessed.
"This ought to be good.", Daphne commented.
"I'll grab tickets before they sell out.", Fred assured.
"Good plan, Fred.", Damien grinned.
"And while you do that, we've got a concert to prepare.", Thorn stated as she and the Hex Girls took their leave to get ready.
"See you then.", Luna waved.
"Bad dreams, girls!", Googie waved with a smile as Shaggy was bobbing for apples before he was shown to have three apples in his mouth before he but into them, ate them, and swallowed them before laughing while Moon and Rowena spoke to Googie.
"I still can't believe that the Hex Girls are your distant relatives.", Moon spoke in surprise.
"Yeah. Neither can I.", Googie agreed.
"I'm...actually a bit jealous about it.", Rowena added before Shaggy spoke to Googie.
"Like, beat that, Googie.", Shaggy goaded.
"No problem.", Googie agreed before she reached in the barrel and popped back out with 6 apples in her mouth, surprising Shaggy before she chomped them and swallowed, surprising Moon and slightly worrying Rowena.
"Should we be...worried about this?", Rowena asked.
"No. I think it's fine.", Moon assured.
"Your turn, Scooby.", Googie spoke.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!", Scooby howled before he then prepared to splash in the barrel.
"Uh, Scooby? I wouldn't...", Googie began warning before Scooby only hopped in the barrel with a splash, splashing her, Shaggy, Scrappy, Daphne, and Velma, not to mention Marcie, Dilla, Rowena, Moon, Willow, and Jay.
"Aw, come on!", Jay exclaimed.
"Scooby!", the 7 girls groaned.
"All right. Maybe a little bit worried for Scooby's case.", Moon sighed as Scrappy shook the water off himself.
"Okay, Uncle Scoob, that was too much of a cannonball, even for me.", Scrappy commented before Scooby popped up and laughed before he then ate the rest of the apples in his mouth as Shaggy gave a sour look before he then grew slightly surprised and then gave a nice smile.
"Confounded mutt! Look what you've done! I'm soaked!", Krudsky reprimanded before he then took off his top hat and wrung out the water from it before putting it back on and then smelling an unpleasant odor.
"Ugh! Wet-dog smell.", Krudsky spoke in disgust.
"Oh, wow. We know you. You're the Amazing Krudsky.", Fred grinned.
"We were just on our way to catch your act.", Daphne added.
"But I have a feeling that this act of yours isn't just that, is it?", Googie guessed.
"Of course, not, young lady. The Halloween spectacular is no mere act.", Krudsky responded.
"Even I can already tell it's going to be quite a spectacle.", Ben guessed.
"Not in my book, it isn't.", Googie growled through her teeth.
"Indeed. Now, if you'll excuse me. I must go blow-dry my cummerbund.", Krudsky stated.
"Ooh. Can we come?", Willow asked.
"Of course, young lady. Only one thing. Three magic words: 'no dogs allowed'.", Krudsky warned, flicking his finger on Scooby's nose with contempt, puzzling Scooby.
"But why?", Willow asked.
"Because those are the rules, not that I made them.", Krudsky responded as he walked away.
"Ugh, the nerve!", Googie growled, her hand growing claws.
"Like, I know! Can you believe this? 'Master of Magic.' Please. Like, what a bunch of Halloween hooey. Even Vincent Van Ghoul does it better than him.", Shaggy commented.
"Yeah, hooey.", Scooby agreed.
"Speaking of Vincent, I wonder how he's doing.", Daphne wondered.
"Yeah. You and me both, sister.", Scrappy agreed.
"Hooey or not, you gotta give him a break. True he can't help being a self-centered phoney, but at least he's trying hard. Not that I like magicians that much. I'm just saying.", Rowena spoke.
"Hey, that gives me an idea.", Shaggy spoke up.
"All right, what is it?", Googie wondered.
"Like, what do you say we get in on the act?", Shaggy stated before Scrappy spoke up.
"All right. I'm liking what I hear so far. So, what's the plan?", Scrappy asked before Shaggy whispered the plan to them.
"Look, whatever you guys have going on, just do me a favor and leave me and my friends out of it.", Googie requested.
"Out of what?", Rowena asked.
"Let's just say we don't want to be here at the carnival when it happens. It'll be less risky. I'll explain later.", Googie assured.
Later, at the magic show, the curtains open up, revealing a sort of spooky landscape with a crescent moon in the sky.
"Once a year, on Halloween night, the powers of the dark meet the powers of the light.", Krudsky spoke before a poof of purple dust popped up and cleared, revealing the Amazing Krudsky, earning cheers from the crowd as he bowed.
"People of Coolsville, fix your slack-jawed gaze upon my dazzling powers.", Krudsky spoke before he then caused magical firework explosions to appear with a wave of his wand, astounding the crowd before the purple smoke cleared.
"From the elegant parlors of Vienna to this unglamorous backwater, I, the Amazing Krudsky, have come to astound you. Abra-cam, kalabazam!", Krudsky chanted before Scooby suddenly popped up from the bottom of the hat.
"Ta-da. Scooby-Dooby-Doo!", Scooby howled before he laughed, perplexing Krudsky as the audience laughed, only making Krudsky angry as Shaggy entered, laughing as well.
"Like, check it out. That's not magic. This table has a hole in it.", Shaggy spoke as he took the hat and purple cloth off the table, which is revealed to have a hole as Scooby lifted his paw through the hole, shocking the audience and angering Krudsky as he shouted.
"Confound it. You're ruining my...!", Krudsky exclaimed as he fell through his trap door.
"And would you look at that? A trap door built right into the floor boards. That must be how he magically appeared 'on-stage'.", Scrappy stated.
"Oh. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.", Scooby agreed.
"Well, there's no mystery here, guys. The Amazing Krudsky is just a make-believe magician.", Scrappy spoke before the audience started booing Krudsky and leaving as the fake magician tried to get them back, but to no avail as he got himself out of the trap door.
"No! Please! Come back! I can explain!", Krudsky pleaded as the unhappy crowd left and the last kid in a ghost costume with a hoodie and blue eyes and a blue mouth at the front of it only blew a raspberry at him before turning and walking away, leaving Krudsky angry as he growled at Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy.
"I'll get you for this!", Krudsky threatened before he pulled the red curtains together to the point where they closed only to open them slightly again.
"And your big dog and little puppy, too!", Krudsky added before closing the red curtains again.
Later, outside the festival, Fred spoke to the group of four.
"Way to go, you guys. You got us kicked out of the carnival.", Fred commented.
"Thankfully, not all of us", Googie assured.
"And that was why you had us leave earlier, wasn't it?", Rowena guessed.
"Yeah. That's right.", Googie responded.
"Thanks. There's still a few hours before the show starts. So, what can we do until then?", Rowena puzzled before they heard a bell rolling at the stroke of 7, PM, that is.
"Don't sweat it, gang. There's still one Halloween hoax we do believe in.", Shaggy assured.
"And let me guess. That would be...", Googie began before later, Shaggy and Scooby were seen in an octopus and squid costume for the 1st house, a sultan and harem girl with a veil over his mouth for the 2nd, and finally, a space alien and a spaceman for the third house as Shaggy and Scooby spoke.
"Trick or treat!", Shaggy and Scooby spoke together at the first house.
"Smell my feet.", Scooby began.
"And give us something groovy to eat.", Shaggy finished.
Then, at the end of the hour, Shaggy and Scooby opened the bag and poured so much candy in it, it was practically turning into a tub of sorts with Shaggy in his own ghost costume and Scooby dressed up as a vampire with both in their own candy bags.
"Hey, Scoob. Like, check it out. The world's first candy hot tub.", Shaggy laughed as he reveled in the fruits of his labor.
"Yeah.", Scooby agreed before he laughed as he lifted up some of the treats.
Then, Daphne, who was in a witch costume, minus the makeup, while Fred is dressed up as a mummy, Velma is in a pumpkin costume, Moon is in a black cat costume, Jay is in a mummy costume, Damien is in a Frankenstein costume, Rowena is in a costume based on Thorn from the Hex Girls, and Willow is in a small ghost costume, spoke to the others.
"Okay, I think that's enough trick-or-treating for one night. It's getting late.", Daphne spoke up first.
"If we don't hurry back, we could miss the concert.", Googie added.
"They do have a point. Besides, you guys have practically amassed enough sweets to last the whole night, much less a whole year.", Scrappy agreed.
"Oh. One more? Please?", Scooby begged.
"Yeah. Please?", Willow added.
"Oh, all right.", Daphne and Rowena agreed.
"Really?", Googie and Willow asked.
"You're coming with us?", Scrappy puzzled.
"Well, I at least want to see if the next house is better than the one we just visited.", Daphne explained.
"Are you sure?", Moon asked.
"It might be haunted.", Dilla added.
"For your information, I've dealt with a lot of Haunted Houses before. This is nothing.", Daphne assured.
"Well, I guess it's worth a look.", Marcie grinned.
"If it is haunted, be careful, okay?", Velma asked.
"I will.", Marcie assured.
"Okay, you guys go ahead. We'll grab the van and meet you back here.", Fred spoke up.
"Well, I guess one more trip couldn't hurt.", Googie shrugged.
"So long as it doesn't take too long.", Rowena responded.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo.", Scooby howled as he hopped from one leg to another in celebration before laughing a bit, not knowing that a sort of red demon from the past was watching among the house's shadows with a growl before taking off as he leapt up and then flew forward as two more eerie shadows were seen as one had messy hair and four arms while another resembled a big potato with bones as the latter decided to follow the demon with the former riding on top, not knowing that a bright, magical glow was passing by.
A/N: I know not much had changed here, but things will be different in the next chapter. And won't you be surprised.
