Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost (Rewrite)
Chapter 4: The Ride of Our Afterlives
Later, the group is now outside at the back porch with Shaggy holding a deck of spell cards while Vincent gave Daphne a special potion.
"I wish there was more I could do for you all, but take these. They should serve you well on the other side.", Mr. Gibbles assured.
"And this little item should assist you as well.", Vincent added.
"A deck of cards?", Shaggy puzzled.
"And a potion?", Daphne puzzled.
"What are those for?", Phantasma asked.
"These are magic cards, and that potion, Daphne, will turn you into your very own monster based on your current costume. All you have to do is drink it and then read the spell at the back of it to activate it.", Mr. Gibbles instructed.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?", Rowena asked.
"Well, what have I got to lose?", Daphne sighed before she drank it whole and then notice a distinct taste as she smacked her lips a little.
"Huh. It tastes like grape soda.", Daphne critiqued.
"So, how do you feel right now?", Mr. Gibbles asked.
"Oddly enough, nothing yet.", Daphne asked.
"And now, for the magical part, the spell.", Mr. Gibbles spoke as Daphne then turned the bottle around to see the inscription in the back.
"'Oh, powers of Halloween night, transform me with your magic tonight.", Daphne spoke before she suddenly felt a strange feeling as she moaned while inadvertently dropping the potion bottle, much to Mr. Gibbles' worry.
"Hey! Be careful with that!", Mr. Gibbles shouted as he quickly hopped over to the potion bottle and caught it before it could hit the ground and break into pieces.
"You break it, you buy it.", Mr. Gibbles warned before Flim Flam and the others gasped in awe at the impressive magic at work.
Meanwhile, Daphne was groaning as she felt a headache while her nose grew just as long and pointy as a witch's before she was shown to be in a wicked witch's outfit with hat and had longer hair as well as green skin, although fortunately, no warts there, as she laughed in a wicked tone.
"Zoinks! It worked!", Shaggy exclaimed in surprise as Scooby hopped into his arms.
"Yeah, worked!", Scooby whimpered in agreement.
"Really? It did?", Daphne puzzled.
"See for yourself.", Mr. Gibbles responded as he got out his hand mirror from his left ear and handed it to Daphne, who was quite surprised by her witchy appearance as well as the fact that she now has her own broomstick.
"Jeepers. It did work. I even look just the way I did as a witch last year. I even have my own broomstick and everything.", Daphne grinned.
"Yes, but that potion doesn't just change your appearance, it also gives you certain magical abilities based upon the costume you wear when you drink it.", Mr. Gibbles stated.
"You mean, I've already learned how to make potions and cast spells on people?", Daphne asked.
"Well, what do you think your brief headache was about?", Mr. Gibbles responded.
"Huh. I guess that answers that question.", the witch shrugged.
"Now, on to the magic cards. All you have to do is hold one out like so and read the inscription.", Mr. Gibbles spoke.
"All right. Sounds easy enough.", Flim Flam grinned.
"As long as it isn't a potion.", Rowena agreed as Shaggy got one out and read its inscription out loud.
"Like, demented disguises.", Shaggy spoke before he, Scooby, Googie, Scrappy, Marcie, Dilla, Jay, Damien, Rowena, and Willow both suddenly transformed in a puff of purple smoke before it cleared, revealing Shaggy as a sort of goblin-dragon hybrid without the tail while Scooby was now a sort of sea-creature with a fin on the back of his head and a chameleon-like tail, Scrappy disguised as Frankenstein's monster in the similar way he appeared in the TV world from the encounter with Zomba, Flim Flam as a vampire, and Googie as a ghost with a similar dress, skin color, transparency, and hair color as Phantasma.
In the meantime, Marcie was now disguised as a female humanoid demon with elements of a gargoyle, a succubus, and a serpent marked by her massive leathery wings, curled horns, a sinuous devil tail, and scales down the front of her throat as Dilla was disguised as a Siren/mermaid hybrid who looks more amphibious than human, Jay was disguised as a Minotaur, Rowena as a Griffon, and Willow as a black cat girl as she is covered completely with black fur and has cat ears as well as a tail, a cute nose, and whiskers.
"Hey. Check it out, Scoob. Like, our very own monster mashup.", Shaggy grinned.
"Well, I guess part of me always wanted to be a mermaid, but I don't think that's what I meant.", Dilla commented with a blush.
"Well, I guess it certainly beats drinking a potion any day.", Rowena spoke.
"Well, at least you don't have horns stuck on your head. It's kinda hard to get them unstuck at this point.", Jay responded before he tried to lower his head to get his horns out as they were apparently stuck on top of the wooden ceiling before the horns came off in one piece, making Dilla giggle a bit.
"Well, how about that? I'm a vampire.", Flim Flam grinned.
"And I've just turned into a ghost.", Googie smiled in surprise.
"Oh, I forgot to mention that. Some of these disguises are modeled after the Ghoul School kids. They did, after all, pitch in to help with the magic cards in the shop.", Mr. Gibbles explained.
"Huh. I've always kinda wanted to fly like a ghost.", Googie admitted.
"Way to rock that frankenteen look, Scrappy.", Flim Flam grinned.
"Huh. Sweet.", Scrappy grinned.
"That's...actually not bad.", Rowena grinned.
"Cool.", Scooby smiled before he laughed.
"Yay! I'm a cute kitty cat.", Willow grinned.
"How about we get in on this?", Crystal suggested before she and Amber touched their necklaces, causing them to glow and reveal their true alien forms, astounding Mr. Gibbles, Vincent, Flim Flam, Damien, Dilla, Jay, Moon, Marcie, Rowena, Willow, and the Ghoul School kids.
"Woof! Looks like you already know a few tricks of your own, huh?", Mr. Gibbles grinned.
"You could say that.", Crystal grinned.
"Marvelous. You'll have no trouble blending in now, eh?", Mr. Gibbles smiled.
"Wow. So, that's what you two look like as aliens?", Moon asked as she eagerly wagged her tail.
"Well..., yeah.", Crystal responded.
"Those are our natural forms.", Amber added.
"Not bad.", Moon grinned.
"If you think that's something, wait until you see this.", Damien responded before he then changed his skin color to red right before growing claws fangs, pointy ears, wings, and a snout while one of his eyes changes to green, surprising Shaggy and Scooby.
"Zoinks!", Shaggy exclaimed as Scooby helped and landed in Shaggy's arms, making Googie giggle a bit.
"Calm down, Shaggy. It's just Damien.", Googie assured.
"Yeah. That's just how I look sometimes.", Damien assured.
"So, like, you're not gonna scare us?", Shaggy asked.
"No.", Damien responded.
"And you're not gonna attack us?", Scooby asked.
"No, I wouldn't dream of it.", Damien assured before Scooby sighed in relief as he got down.
"Let's try another one, Scoob.", Shaggy spoke as he shuffled the deck and then opened it up a bit.
"Okay.", Scooby responded before Vincent and Mr. Gibbles spoke against it.
"I should say not.", Vincent spoke.
"Vincent's right. You have to save them for emergencies. Each card can be used only once and be careful. Unlike Daphne's magic potion, each magic spell lasts but a short time.", Mr. Gibbles warned.
"What? How long am I gonna be like this?", Daphne asked worriedly.
"Oh, just until sunrise. Why do you ask?", Mr. Gibbles responded.
"Phew. That's a relief.", Daphne sighed.
"Never a dull moment.", Winnie commented before the ground suddenly started shaking, puzzling the group as the ground even broke apart with a green mist oozing out as the crack expanded left and right, literally, before Mr. Gibbles got out his portable stopwatch-like clock and spoke.
"Speaking of time, you've got a flight to catch.", Mr. Gibbles spoke.
"And not a moment too soon.", Vincent added before, out from the hole, came Vincent's jet, now custom-fitted for Underworld travel with the turbines roaring as they revved with the cracks corresponding to the wings' size perfectly as it then landed gently on the ground near the back porch before the bottom hatch opened up, revealing a sort of garage space for additional vehicles and an airplane seating at the top.
"Wow. Now, that's a private jet.", Marcie commented.
"Like, I never thought I'd be happy to see that freaky plane.", Shaggy commented.
"Yeah, freaky.", Scooby agreed.
"But how did it get underground?", Daphne asked.
"I was installing the upgrades for the jet to better suit it for underworld travel.", Vincent explained.
"Guess those upgrades are coming in pretty handy, eh?", Scrappy grinned.
"Indeed. Now, the first place that we have to arrive at is at the Halloween bar. Word has it that there's a certain pumpkin head who could point us in the right direction to go from there, and if all goes well, Asmodeus and Revolta won't have a ghost of a chance.", Vincent responded before chuckling as lightning struck.
"Scoob, old buddy, I think we're in for the ride of our afterlives.", Shaggy spoke.
"So, you wanna ride on top of me, Willow?", Rowena asked.
"Mm-Hmm.", Willow nodded.
"Just be gentle...", Rowena responded before Willow leapt up on top of her sister.
"Well, gang? Come on! We're burning moonlight!", Daphne shouted to the Shaggy and Scooby while hopping into her broomstick as the rest of the group were getting inside the ship.
"Oh, one last thing! Whatever happens, you all must return by sunrise or be trapped in the spirit world forever.", Mr. Gibbles warned.
"Back by sunrise, trapped forever. Got it.", Shaggy spoke.
"But how do we even get back?", Googie asked before Mr. Gibbles realized he forgot something.
"Oh, dear! I haven't thought about that.", Mr. Gibbles realized, worrying Shaggy and Scooby as they grew puzzled.
"I'm sure we'll all figure it out along the way, Mr. Gibbles.", Vincent assured as the hatch closed before both the plane and Daphne started taking off as they flew up with the latter speaking.
"Riding on a broom like this works just as good, anyway.", Daphne stated as she, Marcie, Damien, Rowena (with Willow in tow), and the jet ascended high into the air and took off.
Meanwhile, at the carnival, Thorn noticed Daphne, Marcie, Damien, Rowena, and a sort of jet flying beside them as the witch cackled.
"No way. Is that Daphne up there?", Thorn puzzled just as Dusk, Luna, and eventually Ben noticed, too.
"Could be.", Dusk guessed.
"Yeah, I definitely recognize that voice from anywhere. And I think I see Damien, Marcie, and Rowena up there, too.", Luna concurred.
"You really think that's Rowena?", Thorn asked.
"Could be wrong.", Luna responded.
"That might be the Goblin King's magic at work. You girls can go see what's going on up here if you like.", Ben spoke.
"Are you sure, Ben?", Thorn asked.
"We still have a few hours before your big show tonight. I'm sure there's enough time for that.", Ben assured, making Thorn give a surprised smile before she nodded and turned to Dusk and Luna and got out her own magic dust left to her sometime ago.
"All right, girls. I think we all know what to do here.", Thorn spoke.
"That's right.", Dusk agreed.
"I'm getting excited just thinking about it already.", Luna concurred.
"You know? So am I.", Thorn grinned as she finished drawing a circle made of the magic dust around herself, Dusk, and Luna before they joined hands and started chanting a sort of spell.
"By the full moon's light, by the strike of midnight, until the sun rises, we shall become immortal and take flight!", Thorn and the Hex Girls spoke as the magic dust circle then began glowing and then quickly turned into the same swirl of smoke as it swirled around the Hex Girls before the Full Moon's light then began to shine down on the Hex Girls, changing their appearance as the Hex Girls each hissed as they grew pointy ears, fangs, claws, and feet resembling the Wildwind Vampires', and finally, wings on their arms as their skin grew pale as Ben was filled with awe at the sight before the swirl had ceased, revealing that the Hex Girls are now transformed into vampires, although their eyes remained the same.
"It's a good thing Googie gave us some of her magic dust for the show tonight.", Thorn commented.
"Just be sure you all come back before midnight.", Ben urged.
"We will, Ben. And thanks.", Thorn grinned in response.
"Don't mention it. Now, hurry on now, before you lose her.", Ben urged.
"Right. Let's follow her, girls.", Thorn spoke before she took off first.
"You got it.", Dusk and Luna spoke before they then took off into the air and caught up with Damien, Marcie, Rowena (with Willow on top of her), and Daphne, who was cackling with excitement.
"Hey!", Thorn shouted to Daphne, attracting her attention.
"Thorn? Dusk? Luna?", Daphne asked.
"You three?! What are you three doing up here? Not that I mind, really. Because after all, I'm your biggest fan!", Rowena added in slight jittery excitement.
"That's what we'd like to know about Daphne. Also, thanks?", Thorn responded.
"Okay. I can explain, but's it's gonna be a very long story.", Damien assured.
"By all means, please do.", Thorn insisted as she, Dusk, Luna, Daphne, and the jet flew higher to the point that they're now above the clouds.
Later, the Hex Girls were surprised about the recent events since they last met tonight as they rested on top of the jet.
"Whoa. Trippy.", Dusk commented.
"Tell me about it. First, there was Chronos the Grim Reaper, then the Yowie Yahoo, and to top it all off, Asmodeus, the King of Demons.", Luna spoke in surprise.
"Yeah. It's starting to be quite a thing, isn't it?", Daphne responded.
"Yeah, but we'll still help you guys out. I just hope that Vincent doesn't mind some extra help.", Thorn assured.
"Oh, I'm sure he wouldn't.", Willow assured.
"If anything, the more help we get, the better.", Marcie agreed.
Meanwhile, inside the jet, there was a sort of purple Halloween-themed skull chandelier in a restaurant, airplane, limo themed setting with Scooby as a sort of sea-creature stewardess rolling down a cart of airplane snacks and drinks, mainly sodas, as Winnie, who was next to Sibella while Elsa was next to Tanis, Phantasma was next to Flim Flam, Googie was next to Scrappy, Crystal was next to Amber, Jay was next to Dilla, and Vincent was next to Moon, spoke up to Scooby.
"Uh, cranapple, please.", Winnie requested before Scooby handed her a cranapple soda can and Winnie then opened it.
"Peanuts or cookies?", Scooby asked in a slightly girlish voice as he held out the two snacks in question.
"How about one of each?", Winnie replied, slightly appalling Scooby.
"Oh, my.", Scooby responded before he then dropped both the cookies and peanuts onto Winnie's lap and scoffed before moving forward as Winnie then handed the cookies to Tanis.
"Here you go.", Winnie spoke to Tanis.
"Thanks, Winnie. That jet sure is in spooky shape, Vincent.", Tanis smiled.
"Thank you, Tanis. You'd think I paid dearly for it, but you'd be wrong. Dead wrong.", Vincent responded before chuckling as lightning struck in the sky.
"Uh-huh. Say, have you met the pilot yet? You should introduce yourself.", Daphne spoke through the window to Tanis.
"Okay, fine.", Tanis spoke before she hopped out and then walked in through the curtains before knocking on the door.
"Like, come on in.", Shaggy spoke to Tanis, surprising her.
"Could it really be?", Tanis puzzled before she opened the door, showing a mobster-disguised Shaggy at the wheel, surprising her as she squeaked in surprise.
"Shaggy!", Tanis exclaimed.
"It's 'Captain Rogers' up here, young lady. Not for vanity, but because when you've got 10 tons of steel and the lives of every passenger in your hands, it's best to think of yourself as the office, not the man. Also, a little bit for vanity.", Shaggy responded before Scooby walked in as Shaggy cleared his throat a little.
"Uh, stewardess?", Shaggy asked.
"That's 'flight attendant.'", Scooby responded.
"Whatever you say, toots.", Shaggy responded as Tanis then dropped her mouth in surprise before she backed away and then sat down and buckled up before Winnie spoke up.
"Uh, Tanis? Are you okay?", Winnie asked.
"Yeah. What got you so surprised like that?", Moon asked.
"Holy rabies! Our gym teacher's flying an airplane!", Tanis shouted with a smile.
"Really?", Dilla spoke in surprise.
"Now, that is fangtastic!", Sibella grinned.
"He's really flying the plane?", Elsa responded as she inadvertently started squishing her by pressing her hands down against the top of Tanis' seat as it folded down toward Tanis.
"Ah, yes! Stop squishing me!", Tanis spoke in a muffled tone, making Elsa notice that she was inadvertently squishing her.
"Oops. Sorry.", Elsa apologized as she moved away from Tanis' seat, allowing it to go back up and give Tanis room.
"Relax, Elsa. I'm sure you were just really excited to hear about it.", Tanis assured.
"No wonder his lessons stuck so well with us.", Phantasma commented.
"Well, as impressive as it is, I don't think him flying the plane has anything to do with...", Scrappy began before Tanis noticed that her cookies went missing.
"Hey, wait a minute. Where's my cookie?", Tanis asked before Shaggy spoke over the PA.
"Hello, like, ladies and gentlemen. This is Captain Rogers. We are now entering Halloween Bar airspace. If you look out to the right side of the plane, you'll see a small boneyard with a small, spooky house at the center.", Shaggy spoke before he chuckled nervously and turned the PA off.
"That's it. That's exactly where we should go.", Vincent spoke.
"We'll help find a spot where we can land it.", Daphne assured before she then zoomed down to the graveyard bellow.
"'We'll?'", Vincent puzzled before the Hex Girls flew downward just behind Daphne as Shaggy noticed them.
"Hey, don't we know these girls?", Shaggy puzzled just as Tanis noticed the Hex Girls just behind Daphne and gasped in joy.
"Oh, my gosh, it's the Hex Girls! They're here!", Tanis squeaked excitedly as she pointed to them before the gang then looked out through the window, except Shaggy as he was driving, and saw them.
"The Hex Girls?", Sibella puzzled.
"Wait. They're really here?", Dilla puzzled.
"How did they get here so fast?", Winnie puzzled.
"I don't know, but it sure is surprising to see them catch up with us, even with the magic dust I lent them.", Googie responded.
"You could say that again.", Scrappy concurred.
"I like their style.", Scooby commented as the jet started following them as they descend into the clouds and then toward the boneyard before both Daphne, the Hex Girls, and the jet eventually landed on the ground safely.
"Well. This is the place, all right.", Damien spoke.
"Might be, at least.", Marcie added.
"Funny. That graveyard seems strangely familiar. Of course, we were trying to get proof of real ghosts at the time.", Daphne spoke.
"Oh, yeah. I think I saw that in your show once.", Thorn remembered.
"Yeah, me too.", Dusk agreed.
"It was 'Coast-to-coast', wasn't it?", Luna concurred, surprising Daphne.
"You guys actually watched my show?", Daphne asked in surprise.
"We had a bit of free time that day.", Thorn replied.
"Get out. You girls watch it, too?", Rowena asked as Willow got off while the hatch opened up with Googie, Scrappy, Flim Flam, and the Ghoul School kids walking down the hatch first.
"What are you girls doing here? What about your show?", Googie asked.
"We noticed Daphne and the others flying with that jet so we had to see what's going on.", Thorn responded.
"Yeah, and Daphne told us what's going on.", Dusk added.
"Plus, we still have a few hours left before the concert starts as it stands now. Good thing you got us vampires with you right about now, huh?", Luna grinned.
"Yep. And not a moment too soon.", Flim Flam spoke as he went down after seeing the whole thing.
"You're Flim Flam, right?", Thorn guessed, surprising Flim Flam.
"What the? How did you guess? I thought you wouldn't recognize me.", Flim Flam puzzled.
"Growth spurt or not, I know a face when I see one.", Thorn responded.
"Oh. Fair point.", Flim Flam understood.
"Let's go, Shaggy. We have our whole adventure planned for us.", Tanis spoke to Shaggy.
"Like, I wish I had your optimism, Tanis.", Shaggy spoke as he and Scooby worriedly head back down.
"Yeah, optimism.", Scooby agreed just before a sort of grave keeper with a red shirt and blue overalls stepped forward in front of the group and spoke up, making Tanis gasp in surprise.
"You there. What do you think you're doin', eh? Tryin' to sneak into my boneyard while my back was turned?", the grave keeper asked.
"Sorry. We didn't mean to trespass here, but we kinda have an emergency right now.", Googie responded.
"Oh? And what sort of emergency is that, lassie?", the grave keeper asked just before the disguises wore off as most of them poofed back to normal, much to the gang's shock.
"Does that answer your question?", Thorn spoke to the grave keeper.
"I think our disguises have lost their charm.", Shaggy spoke as he and Scooby noticed it as well.
"Aw. I'm not a kitty cat anymore.", Willow groaned.
"Oh, great. Not the best timing.", Flim Flam commented.
"Yeah, I don't think 'not the best timing' does it justice.", Jay responded.
"Well, at least I don't have to slither on ground all the time now.", Dilla added.
"Oh, a lot of wiseacres, eh? Believe me, laddies. You don't want to see my bad side.", the grave keeper warned before his apparent transformation began.
First, his arms bulked up, grew hairier, grew claws as nails, and turned light blue before he grew sharp teeth and fangs as his skin turned blue while he snarled before he grew hairier and tore through some of his shirt to rip open, even causing one of his overalls to break apart before his shoes were ripped apart as well before the wolfman snarled and then howled, frightening Shaggy and Scooby the most.
"Zoinks!", Shaggy exclaimed as Tanis and Willow backed up with the latter screaming before Tanis fell backwards a little while Scooby hid inside Shaggy's shirt in the back before the werewolf moved closer to him quickly before Googie guessed what it was.
"And let me guess, this is your bad side?", Googie guessed before the werewolf roared in response, puffing out some wind from his mouth.
"Uh, what do you think?", Winnie responded.
"Not much of a talker, is he?", Luna asked.
"Nope.", Googie answered before the werewolf spoke.
"Time for a late-night snack.", the werewolf spoke before raising one of his clawed hands to strike only for Googie to stop him.
"Stop right where you are. You wouldn't eat a fellow werewolf, would you?", Googie asked with a smirk, puzzling the lupine creature.
"Huh?", the werewolf puzzled.
"Observe.", Googie spoke before her arms grew hairier as did her legs while her nails were growing into claws, her ears were becoming pointy, and her nose was turning into a wolf nose before she grew a muzzle as her legs even became more like wolf legs for greater speed and she even grew a wolf tail before she then howled, astounding the werewolf as the very sound of her howling caused his fur to stand on end shake up in surprise before Googie then stomped toward the wolfman a few steps closer and then gave a warning.
"Now, you listen to me, Buster. Trying to eat those humans is one thing, but if you try to eat one more monster, just one more monster, you'll be in trouble.", Googie warned before the wolfman only laughed.
"Stone me, it's one of me own brethren.", the wolfman grinned.
"Yeah, that's right.", Googie responded as Tanis then sighed in relief.
"All right, you check out, and, uh, apologies for frightening ya, ya little lassie.", the wolfman apologized to Tanis.
"Oh, it's all right.", Tanis assured before she realized what he called her.
"Hey. Who you callin' little? I'll trip you.", Tanis warned, puzzling the werewolf.
"Uh, right. But who are these unturned?", the wolfman asked.
"They are my plus one, Mr. Wolfman, and I can assure you, they're all with me.", Vincent assured as he joined the others before lightning struck behind him, astounding the werewolf even more.
"Flippin' 'eck! Even the famous Vincent Van Ghoul is here? I thought I recognized that jet from anywhere.", the wolfman spoke.
"Yeah. We're all friends of his.", Googie explained.
"Oh. I understand. I thought they were stowaways. But any friend of Vincent Van Ghoul is my friend, too. Now, come on, then. Come on.", the wolfman spoke as he patted Googie in the back and then walked them over to the house.
"Uh, okay.", Googie agreed puzzlingly.
"He seems kinda friendly, doesn't he?", Crystal guessed.
"Yeah, but at least we're getting in.", Damien responded as he and the others arrived a the entrance to the house.
