Playing His Game
Summary: Josslyn begins her plan.
Josslyn reached out to grip Dev's hand, linking their fingers together as she tugged him along the docks and onto the boat. Her ponytail bounced as she released his hand and ran over to the wheel, immediately taking a seat behind it. She could feel the boy's eyes on her as he moved closer. It took everything in her not to cringe away from his touch as he knelt beside her, their shoulders brushing.
"I'm glad you finally agreed to come out with me, Joss." He said, reaching out a hand to brush some loose strands of hair from her face. His fingers trailed over her cheek and he leaned in close, as if he was planning on kissing her.
She moved her face away so she faced the wheel again. "I've got to pay attention to what I'm doing. Wouldn't be good if I wrecked." She told him in a low voice, thanking god that that was indeed true.
He moved away from her at that, still sitting much too close. She could only hope that her plan was working.
Cam sighed as he parked his car and came over to the guards of the Corinthos residence who immediately allowed him inside. He was a bit hesitant about all of this, specifically with the fact that Josslyn was by herself with Dev, especially knowing all he'd done. However, he knew he had to trust her instincts and inact his part of the plan they'd come up with.
"Cam?" Carly asked, look of confusion on her face, so much like her daughter's. "What are you doing here? Joss and Dev are on the boat."
He gave her a smile, one he hoped that she couldn't see past. "Joss told me that I could borrow a book of hers. I was wondering if I could go up and get it."
Her brow furrowed. "Of course." She said, slightly suspicious. She had a feeling that Cam wasn't being completely honest yet she couldn't quite figure what he might be hiding.
Cam felt relief wash through him as he stepped past Carly and headed upstairs, bypassing Josslyn's room to head for Dev's. He pushed the door open slowly and walked inside, taking in everything. Carefully, he began to look around for places where he might've hidden something, finding nothing in the drawers of his desk, he headed over to the bed and knelt beside of it. He narrowed his eyes as he spotted a shoe box, pressed back into a far corner and reached out an arm to pull it out. Lifting the lid, he let out a sharp breath as his eyes landed on the stack of photos, all clearly of Josslyn, taken when she wasn't paying attention. Shakily, he flipped through them, seeing the pictures of her sleeping, of her talking with Trina or her volleyball friends. He slammed them back into the box when he came upon one of her wrapped in a towel, not wanting to go through anymore in fear of what he might find. The entire thing was so horrific. Worse than he'd imagined, which didn't seem possible. He felt bile rise in his throat, especially as he thought of her alone on the boat with Dev.
Standing up, his gaze caught a piece of paper sticking out from under a pillow. He swallowed hard as he pulled it out, eyes scanning over the torn out page of Josslyn's diary and then piece of paper under it that showed how he'd practiced forging his letters to look as if they'd been written by Joss. Anger filled him at the sight as he quickly began to fix everything, put it all back in it's original place after taking some photos. He had the proof that he needed. Now all he had to do was tell Josslyn what he'd found so they could decide when to tell her mother, father, and stepfather what was going on.
He headed into Josslyn's room and grabbed the book of greek mythology that she'd set on her bedside table before hurrying back down the stairs, waving the book at Carly and giving her a grin. "Sorry it took me so long. I ended up reading a few pages of this and got a little caught up."
"So what did you find? You sounded worried on the phone when you said that you needed to meet me." Josslyn said the next morning as she took a seat at the counter, sipping her cup of hot chocolate as Cam placed her plate of strawberry waffles in front of her.
Cam bit his lip. "It's even worse than we thought." He admitted, reaching into his pocket and fishing out his phone. He handed it to her and watched as she clicked his photo album with lithe fingers. He saw the way her hands shook as she got to photo after photo.
"He's been spying on me." She said, voice trembling with anger and a tinge of fear. "I've trusted him and he's been taking these pictures. He's been reading my journal and using the things I used to do with Oscar against me, he's been using it to manipulate us."
"I know. I know." Cam throwing the rag he'd been using to wipe off the counter across one shoulder before squeezing her hand gently. "But we know the truth now. He can't do this to us anymore. We can show your parents what we found and you won't need to deal with him anymore."
Josslyn shook her head. "That doesn't change the fact that he took these pictures." She answered. "It makes me feel so gross. I can't go back home. Not while he's there."
"Well then, we'll figure it out." He replied. "We'll go to your dad's house and ask your mom and Sonny to come there. We'll show them the proof. He's not going to get away with this."
Jax opened the door to his house, eyes filling with worry as he came face to face with his daughter, Cam by her side like a guard. Her head was lowered, blonde locks covering her face from view. "Joss?" He asked, immediately moving forward to take his daughter into his arms. "What's wrong." His eyes widened in alarm as he heard the sob that escaped her lips as she collapsed against him, arms wrapping around him tightly. He threw Cam a questioning look as the boy shut the door behind himself.
"We found out something about Dev. Joss doesn't feel comfortable being around him anymore, but Carly and Sonny need to know about it. I figured this would be the best place to do that."
The sentence made Jax even more worried but he nodded before saying, "I'll go call Carly now and get some water." He led his daughter over to the sofa and sat her down, watching for a moment as Cam immediately went to set beside Josslyn, arms wrapping around her comfortingly. Then, assured she was in safe hands, he hurried into the kitchen, putting his cellphone to his ear. "Carly? Joss is here with Cam. You and Sonny should be here. There's something they need to tell us."
Next Part: Josslyn and Cam tell Carly, Jax, and Sonny what they've found.
