Eijirou had just finished sparring with Ojiro in the gym, and his whole body was sore. He knew Ojiro was good at hand-to-hand combat but man he hadn't expected that. He had decided to not use his quirk during the spar, hoping he'd gain some more experience. But shit, maybe fighting Ojiro was a bad decision on his part.
They had parted ways after about two hours of straight sparring with few breaks in between. Ojiro had stayed behind in the gym to do an after-sparring workout, which is wow dedication and really manly. Eijirou had skipped the workout in favor of a shower. His body was sore and sweaty, and he desperately needed to ease the pain in his shoulder from where Ojiro had flipped him over onto his back.
The boy's locker room was just outside the gym to the right. He made his way over but stopped just before the door. There was a sound coming from inside. It sounded almost as though someone was singing. Sure enough, when he placed his ear against the door, he could clearly hear someone singing inside. The shower was on, so it was hard to tell what exactly was being sung or who was singing.
Eijirou never really liked eavesdropping, it just wasn't the manly thing to do. But he just couldn't help himself. On one hand, he wanted to hear more but on the other, he really didn't want to spook the singer. He considered his options quietly but was about to leave when whoever was inside started singing louder, as though he wanted to be heard. It was still a bit muffled by the water, but he was sure it wasn't Japanese. He didn't recognize the song or the voice, but there were very few people he knew for a fact spoke at least some English. Although it could be the radio, he was sure it wasn't. He listened a little longer before quietly turning the doorknob. As carefully he could he slipt inside.
He stood there for a minute just listening to the singer. He was still a bit confused as to who it could be, it didn't sound like anyone he knew. But then again, he'd never heard any of them sing before. Well except Jirou and Mina once. They had spontaneously started a duet of some TikTok song. But obviously it couldn't be either of them, as this was the boy's locker room. He considered Shoji or Iida at first but quickly dismissed them. Maybe someone from 1-B? Both hero classes had access to the gymnasium for sparring and after school training purposes.
Carefully he crept closer, walking as quietly as possible. Well, as quietly as he could manage. Stealth was never really his forte. He rounded about to the other side of the lockers to set his stuff down, but out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something. Oh. That was Bakugou's bag. Was he- no surely not. Eijirou knew the sound of his friend's voice very well, and this while similar wasn't quite it. It was too soft and dare he say... sultry. And whoever was singing was too good to have been the loud exploding boy from his class. Sure, maybe Bakugou could sing, but Eijirou always imagined there would have been more yelling.
He sat on the bench below his locker and just listened. He could only make out some of it, but it was pretty all the same. It reminded him of some of the old big house music his mother listened to while she cooked and his mama did her work at the table. It wasn't his favorite to listen to, but it was nice. He could only really make out the words New York and something about shoes. His English really wasn't any good, even with Bakugou tutoring him. The singer had been getting progressively louder before he ended on a long drawn out note that sounded a lot like York. It was...impressive to say the least. How he was singing that well and that loudly with water dripping down his face was a mystery to Eijirou.
But he didn't have time to figure it out. The water had turned off, and whoever was in there was drying off and getting out. Eijirou promptly looked down and tried to look like he had only just got in. Unfortunately, the odds were not in his favor.
"How much did you hear?" It was quiet, but it was definitely Bakugou. He sounded genuinely worried. So wait…It WAS Bakugou singing? Bakugou's face was slightly flushed, and his hands were twitching. Was he? Embarrassed?
"Hmm? What do you mean Bakubro" Eijirou tried to play it off, but clearly Bakugou wasn't buying it.
"Don't play dumb Shitty Hair. How. Much. Did. You. Hear?" He slowly drew his words out. Ah, there was the anger.
"I-um, well I think pretty much all of it."
"Fuck." Bakugou quietly cursed. He was definitely embarrassed.
"You know Bakubro there's nothing to be embarrassed about! You sound really good! Like really good." He tried to sound reassuring, but it probably sounded like teasing to Bakugou.
"Fuck Off Shitty Hair! Listen if you mention this to anybody, and I mean anybody, I will rip your voice box out through your ass. You hear me? And I'm not embarrassed."
Eijirou giggled lightly. "Yeah alright man, whatever you say."
"Shut the Fuck up Shitty hair I'll kill you!" Bakugou yelled back clearly pissed off at Eijirou's teasing. Small sparks were already coming off his hands despite just showering.
"Aww come on Bakubro! You really were good. You should sing for me sometime!" Eijirou teased lightly before sprinting off to the nearest shower. Small explosions and lots of yelling were all that was heard.
Man, I'm glad I didn't turn around. Fuck! I should have recorded that. Oh well, maybe next time.
