Rin ran as thunder rumbled overhead and the rain started pouring down on him. He continued to run almost blindly, tears and rain water blocking his vision. He felt hurt and betrayed, but he didn't know why. 'Why am I- feeling like this? Shiemi and I are just friends, right? I don't, LIKE her, like her- right? but then, why won't my chest stop hurting?' he thought as memories of Shiemi flashed through his mind, her smiling at him, helping him, saving him the second time he went berserk. Rin remembered how he always tried to protect and save her, how terrified he felt whenever she was in danger, and how much it hurt him when she pushed him away after the truth about his heritage came out to the rest of the Cram School. 'It's true. I like her, maybe even more than that, but-' Rin thought, his memories now returning to seeing Yukio kissing Shiemi. And his heart broke even more. "DAMN IT!" he screamed, blue flames exploding out of him and evaporating the rain pouring down on him, drying him instantly. Rin began punching the ground in front of him, smashing huge holes in the concrete, "WHY!? WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME!?" he demanded, beating the ground with both hands.
"WHY IS IT THAT EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME I FIND ANY KIND OF SLIVER OF HAPPINESS, IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE RIPPED AWAY FROM ME! FIRST DAD! THEN MY FRIENDS! NOW HER TOO! WHY GODDAMN IT!" Rin screamed in a furious heart-broken rage, sobbing uncontrollably. Eventually his anger calmed and he just knelt on the ground with tears streaming from his eyes. After a moment, a familiar voice caught his attention, though he didn't move, "well, if it isn't my dear little brother, out here all alone! You're looking much better physically than you were before, I'm glad" the overly boisterous voice called. Rin was torn. A part of him felt like this person was the last one he wanted to see right now. But the other half just wanted to have some kind of family to talk to that he felt hadn't betrayed him. Well, not recently at least. He slowly looked up, meeting the clown-like Demon's gaze with his broken one, "it's you" he muttered weakly, making Mephisto blink in slight surprise. What, no 'clown' insults today?
But one look at his dear younger brother's face, and the older Demon knew that something was very wrong. Usually he would brush off the boy and leave, but it had been so long since he got to actually care for any of his younger brothers that he felt his heart stir at the sight. "What's wrong Rin?" he asked gently, very much unlike how he had been talking before. "I-I- *sob*" Rin tried to speak, but was cut off by his tears. He would have been furious and humiliated at crying in front of Mephisto, but right now, he was in too much emotional pain to care. The King of Time frowned, something had hurt his younger half-brother very badly. Scooping the boy up, Mephisto immediately transported them to his office, while simultaneously sending Amaimon somewhere that he wouldn't cause trouble. Once there, the Demon set his younger brother on a couch and made a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate appear for the boy. Once he was wrapped in the blanket, and sipping the hot beverage, albeit without much enthusiasm, Mephisto sat down before the boy, "what happened?" he asked softly. "Why do you care?" Rin muttered, but didn't move from his spot, and he didn't put down his drink. A part his mind wondered if he'd had Ukobach make this in the future or something then brought it back in time.
After all, the last time he'd eaten something the clown had made, it had nearly killed him. But he had neither the energy or the desire to ask about it now. "I care, because, I'm your big brother" the older Demon replied calmly. Rin nearly choked on his Hot Chocolate at that, "wh-what!? are you serious!?" he demanded, staring at Mephisto with more emotion than he'd had since he'd seen, it. "Yes, that's right, my dear little brother. Did you seriously think I was just a human? The pointed ears and fangs didn't give it away?" the older Demon began. "You and I share the same Father, making us half-brothers. Even if you reject me as your brother, I still care. I care about all my siblings in one way or another. That's why I want to help you Rin, alright?" Rin narrowed his eyes in a glare, "yeah right. "Brother" or not, why would that make me trust you? Especially after you abandoned me to that damn bastard before, huh?!" he demanded to know. He pulled his legs up so that his knees reached his chest and wrapped his arms around them, burying his face in them, "the only 'brother' I have is Yukio. Or at least, that was what I thought before" Rin muttered, trying to hide his tears.
"Did something happen between you and Yukio?" Mephisto asked softly, trying to find out what happened. He may be very powerful, but even he didn't constantly watch everyone all the time. The Indigo-haired teenager sniffed and clenched his fists, "he, and Shiemi, they- th-they-" he tried to say it, really he did, but the words just got stuck in his throat and made him want to throw up. "So, something happened between Yukio and Miss Moriyama that upset you" the King of Time nodded. Rin felt more tears come to his eyes. He needed to say it, damn it! just get it over with! "they k-kissed!" he sobbed, breathing harshly after he had finally managed to say it. "I see," Mephisto replied after giving the boy a moment to calm down again. "And you're so upset because-" he prompted. He already knew the reason of course, but he wanted to give his young brother a chance to say it himself. But Rin's response wasn't what he expected, "I don't know damn it!" he cried, clutching his head. "Huh?" Mephisto asked in shock- he didn't know what was going on? Then the older Demon felt like slapping himself, because, of course Rin wouldn't know what was going on. He hadn't been a Demon for long enough to know.
"I mean, I like Shiemi as a friend, but I don't, like her like her. At least I don't think I do. So I have no idea why seeing them, k-kissing made me feel like this!" the boy replied. "I see, I understand what's going on now." The clown-like Demon replied. The Indigo-haired Demon wiped his eyes, "you do?" he asked hopefully. "You've never liked someone romantically before, have you?" Mephisto asked. Rin blinked, "uh, no. I never really liked anyone that way, and no one ever felt that way about me before. I was kinda a trouble-maker in School, so no girl was ever attracted to me like that. Why? What's that gotta do with what's happening now?" he asked in confusion. The King of Time laced his fingers together and lay his chin on them, "let me tell you about what happens when one of our kind reaches maturity, or in other words, the Teenage years" he began, a grin on his face. Rin gulped, not sure that he would like this new information.

Rin was blushing a bright red after listening to the information that his 'big brother' had given him. "So you're saying, that I actually do like Shiemi romantically and that when I first met her I- imprinted on her like animals do. And because of that, now I consider her mine, subconsciously, so that when I saw her and Yukio kissing I felt betrayed and that's why I feel this way," he repeated, "is that about right?" he asked. "Basically, yes" Mephisto replied, trying to keep himself from laughing at the look on his younger brother's face. After a moment, Rin sighed dejectedly, "so what if I feel that way, it's not like Shiemi feels the same about me. She only likes Yukio. I'm not gonna fight him for her, he's been through a lot too, so-" the boy bit his lip and hid under the blanket his 'brother' had given him, trying to keep from crying. It hurt, so much that he couldn't stand it. Did he really love Shiemi that much, that now it feels like if Gahena were to really swallow Assiah, that he wouldn't even care? And how had he not even noticed before!? Rin sniffled, clutching the blanket harder.
He wondered if he could convince the older Demon to let him stay here for- around, forever. Suddenly the door to the office was flung open and both Yukio and Shiemi rushed inside, "Rin!" the girl cried. "Brother! oh thank God you're here" Yukio sighed in relief. Rin froze, before a low growl sounded from deep within his throat, "get out, both of you" he ordered warningly. Both stopped at the sound, before Yukio bravely stepped forwards, after all, he was immune to the blue flames now, while Shiemi wasn't "I won't leave Rin. Not without explaining what-" but he didn't get a chance to continue before Rin screamed and threw a wave of flames at both of them, "I SAID GET OUT!" he screamed. His younger brother quickly shielded Shiemi with his own body. Why wouldn't he? They were dating behind his back, weren't they? When the flames died down, Shiemi stepped up, "Rin please, it's not what you think. Yuki explained what it had looked like, and I swear, we're not dating! I- I don't even like him like that. No offence Yuki, but maybe I had a little crush on you before, but now I just see you as a friend" she replied softly. "It's fine. Rin, I promise you, that what happened earlier wasn't Shiemi's fault. I- I-I kissed her. I just, *sigh* I don't know what I was thinking. In fact I don't think I was thinking at all, I just did it" Yukio sighed again, "please, I'm sorry Brother. Can you ever forgive me?" he asked softly.
Rin sniffed, still feeling heart-broken, but beginning to realise that what had happened had just been a result of an impulsive moment on Yukio's part, and that he really hadn't intended to hurt him. He sighed, sitting up slowly. Both Shiemi and Yukio watched the half-Demon nervously. Rin sighed again, before turning to face the other two. "I understand what you're saying, but forgiving you may take a bit longer Bro" he replied seriously. Yukio looked down and nodded, "I understand, thank you for giving me a chance" the brown-haired half-Demon replied seriously. Then Rin turned back to Shiemi, who had tears in her eyes, "I know that you didn't kiss him now. Don't worry, I don't blame you Shiemi" he said seriously. She looked down, "I'm still sorry Rin. I should have been more forceful" the blond girl replied. "You'll get there. Let's just, put all of this behind us" the Indigo-haired boy replied, standing up and putting the blanket down on the couch. He turned to look at the grinning King of Time, and scowled, "don't get any ideas ya damn clown" Rin muttered, walking past him and towards the door, "let's go, I'm exhausted now" he replied. After a moment, the other two began to follow the older boy.
When the three of them were gone, Mephisto grinned, making a tea pot and cup appear out of thin air, "things are starting to get a little more, ehem, 'heated' around here" he chuckled to himself.

After getting back to their dorm, Shiemi bid the brother's goodbye, using Yukio's key to the Supply Shop in order to get home before handing her teacher and friend the key. Once she was gone, the twins pretty much collapsed where they were standing. "Well, this certainly is one 'exciting' day that I definitely don't want to repeat" Yukio muttered from his spot on the floor. Rin groaned from where he'd practically slammed into the couch. Looking over at his twin, the brown-haired Demon sighed, "I am sorry Rin, really. I swear, I'll do whatever I can to make it up to you, okay brother?" Yukio asked. Upon getting no response, the younger boy got up to check on his twin, only to find him sound asleep. 'I'd better go let Ukobach know to make something that doesn't need to be hot for our dinner' the teenager thought, beginning to head downstairs. 'I really hope things start to get better tomorrow. The last few days have been pretty bad' he thought warily. Unfortunately, 'better' would not be the word used to describe the next day.
More like terrifying and stress-inducing. Yukio was about to find out just how hard being a son of Satan really was.
