Barley and Ian were playing Quests of Yore on a late Saturday afternoon for a campaign. Funny enough, the campaign was based on their adventure last year
"With Sir Iandore Lightfoot's arcane lighting and Accelior spell, the school was saved from the horrid curse of the Phoenix Gem," Barley said in his majestic voice moving his wizard figurine toward a dragon one.
"And along with fixing the school so we won't get into trouble" his little brother sheepishly replied by putting a tower piece behind the wizard.
"Oh come on dear mage, that was a fun experience"
"Yeah.." Ian chuckled scratching the back of his head. He knew he always had a father figure in his life which was Barley and that the journey helped him realized that.
Then a loud rumbling noise filled the room.
"Whoop must be hungry" Barley waltzed into the kitchen, which turned into jumping when their pet dragon Blazey had to run around his legs
"Whoa easy girl" He petted the dragon's head and opened the fridge to find nothing but leftovers.
"Hey Ian, where's mom?" asked the elder elf
"She said she had a shift on Saturday at work" Ian replied
"Can you called her" Barley then closed the fridge
"What, why can't you"
Barley then held up a fist. Ian grimaced knowing what this meant. They played Rock Paper Scissors and obviously, Barley won and gave Ian a smirk.
"How come you always win?" Ian asked getting his new phone
"Well the secret is to not think about it," Barley said still smirking making his way to his room.
Ian then dialed up his mom.
"Hey mom, uh can you go to the grocery store, we are out of food?... Thank you"
"No problem sweetie," Laurel said as she hung up the phone on the other line. She was in the middle of driving in her lime green car in the freeway getting off of work and the traffic was pretty much free for a Saturday afternoon. She slowly got off of the freeway and went to the nearest grocery store.
She pushed the cart around the aisles getting a lot of groceries for her growing boys. She got items from cereal to hot dogs to getting protein powder for her smoothie after her workout.
Then, she turns to see a young elf girl entering the store. She had half blonde half blue hair, the blonde was on the left, blue on the right. She dressed in a light brown plaid shirt with a black tank top exposing her belly ever so slightly and blue jeans and black laced up boots, she also carried a messenger bag and wore sunglasses. She read a magazine on the way inside. Laurel then carried on with her shopping. Then a burning smell came in.
"What the..." she murmured
"Hey, I think something is on fire, you may want to check it out," the girl said.
Then as if on cue, The sprinklers came in and rained down on the customers. All of the customers ran around with the sprinklers wetting them and the employees trying to put out the fire in the back.
Amid the chaos, Laurel saw the girl running away and starting to steal a few items. She stole pads, soap, Chips, chocolate, and butterscotch chips and she went up and down every aisle
"Hey!" Laurel yelled. It caught the attention of the girl and she began to flee. Laurel tried to catch up to the girl but she was too fast and she stole a few more items before fleeing.
Laurel then picked up her phone and called her new husband Colt.
"Colt there's a robbery at the grocery store and please be quick!" Laurel yelled hanging up the phone
The girl then stole a large bag of dragon food and finally stuffing her messenger bag with cereal. She began to scurry from the store. Laurel saw then and she tried to find a control that can shut down the store, and she finds a switch and she pulls it.
Then the girl noticed that the doors were about to shut on her and she made a bolt for it. She tried her best not to slip and tried to make her way from the chaotic crowd and she escapes just in time before the doors can shut on her.
She then walks away from the store and toward the alley
"Set it and Forget it, they fall for it every time" she whispered to herself. With that, she escapes
The police arrive a few minutes later. They turned off the sprinkler system and they put out the fire from the back Colt tried to break the store trying to get to his wife
"Laurel are you okay?" He frantically asked
"Yes, I'm okay...but a few stuff has been stolen"
"By who honey?"
"It was this girl,"
"What did she look like"
"She had her hair half blonde half blue and she wore a plaid shirt over a black tank top, jeans and the boys… they must be worried about me!"
She quickly got her phone and she called them.
"Ian, Barley, I'm at the store and there was a robbery, I'm okay and the police are here, they didn't catch them but I just want to let you know that I'm okay" She hung up and turned to Colt. "I hope that girl gets caught"
"Don't worry hun, she can't have gone far" Colt replied
Meanwhile, the girl was in an alley. The city she was walking in was dark and there was no one around. The atmosphere was pretty quiet since she heard no one else.
She then came towards an abandoned apartment building. She crept towards the building and saw that the ladder was out of her reach. She went to a pile of leaves and uncovered a black rope and she threw the rope toward the ladder and she pulled it down to a point where she can reach the ladder by her blue fingertips
She jumped to reach the ladder and she began to climb it. She reached to a certain window and she heard whimpering on the other side of the window
"Guess who's here Shadow" then there was barking
"Yeah, the supply run was successful," the girl said back
She opened the window and pulled up the blinds only to be met with lots and lots of licks
"Okay Shadow, down boy, I'm coming in" the girl chuckled. She puts the messenger bag of food and supplies inside first and then she entered in and she saw that the sun had just set and the moons were going to rise
"And I'm right on time," she said to herself before closing the windows and drawing the blinds.
She turned on the lights to the apartment she lived in and a purple and yellow dragon was aggressively wagging its tail and yipped a little
"Yes shadow, I brought dinner" She walked over toward a popcorn bowl and then poured the dragon food into the bowl. The dragon whined a little
"No shadow, I didn't steal it" It was a lie. She looked around the apartment and checked everything
"I don't think I need more supplies for a while"
The dragon then chowed down on the food while the girl then took out a box of cereal and began to eat the colorful and sweet cereal as the girl and the dragon peacefully ate dinner together in harmony
