Soulmate AU in which the first words your soulmate ever says to you is tattooed on your body somewhere.
This is based on something I saw on Reddit. I randomly googled Soulmate AU and I went to images. The first image was this. It was epic. Therefore, I wrote this because this was something that needed to happen. Hope you like it. Have a beautiful day and stay safe, darling readers ❤️
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all related series. Why? I'm not Uncle Rick nor do I have his talent. This also contains spoilers for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Also, this takes place in the 2010s and Harry Potter has just been released then. Not earlier.
Who is he and how did he die?
Every person is born with a tattoo somewhere on their body. The tattoo is the first words their soulmate says that they hear. The words could be addressed to them or anybody else as well. This is a fact. Some people don't have tattoos because they're aro ace. Some people ignore theirs because they don't want a soulmate. Whatever you do regarding your tattoo is your choice.
Annabeth didn't necessarily believe in soulmates. When she was 7, she found out that the woman she had called her mother all these years was not her mother but instead, her stepmother. Apparently, her mother had left her and her dad a few months after her birth because she found her soulmate. Later, her father married his soulmate, a woman named Helen.
She was shocked that people who weren't soulmates could still be together because she had grown up under the illusion that people always ended up with their soulmate and never anyone else and never even were attracted to other people throughout their life.
Still, Helen loved her like her own child and cared for her. She was more her mother than Amanda, her real mother was.
Annabeth was born with a tattoo on her right arm. It was on the side, between her bicep and tricep and was facing inwards. She always covered hers because she didn't want people seeing it.
It said, 'Man, I can't believe Dumbledore died'.
Ever since she could read, she spent her whole life wondering who this Dumbledore was, when he died and how he died. She wanted to know who he was. She, after she turned 13, along with the help of her parents, scoured every book she could find in search of a person named Dumbledore, who he was, when and how he died, but she never found answers. She came to the conclusion that it would happen sometime in the future after nearly a year of searching.
It was torture, being spoiled for something that didn't exist, worrying about this Dumbledore guy for her while childhood, not knowing who he is. She knew about Dumbledore's death before the author/writer (she came to the conclusion that he was fictional) even thought about killing him/her.
Annabeth was worried that an entire franchise has been ruined for her solely because of her soulmate. Now, she wouldn't even have the joy of reading the book/watching the movie and being shocked by it for the first time.

"Annabeth, come on. Read the book." her best friend Piper McLean asked her. She was trying to get her to read Harry Potter.
"I'm sorry, Piper. I can't." Annabeth replied.
"At least tell me why."
"I'll tell you later, okay?" Seeing Piper's expression, she held out her right hand. "Pinkie promise." She said.
"Fine." Piper grumbled but nevertheless hooked her pinkie to Annabeth's.
Piper's parents were like Annabeth's. They weren't soulmates. They were in a relationship and loved each other, but they just weren't meant to be. For one thing, Piper's mom was already married to a person who wasn't her soulmate. She and her dad didn't know this until her mother had already left them with only a note explaining her absence.
Secondly, her mother had met her soulmate a few months after leaving Piper and her father, and is now actively cheating on her husband because she is apparently too lazy to divorce him. Plus, her mother also has children with her soulmate (three) already and this all occurred 18 years ago.
Piper also has a step-brother (is that what you would call him?) from her mother's husband, who had decided to cheat on Piper's mother because he had fallen in love with another woman. The woman later died in a fire but that's not important right now.
The point was that Piper understood what it was like to have parents who didn't know each other anymore and aren't soulmates. However, Annabeth was hesitant about telling Piper about her tattoo because her best friend loved Harry Potter and she didn't want to spoil her for what would happen next, even though it was technically in the future.

Annabeth didn't tell her about the tattoo for a long time. Every time Piper brought up the topic, she would skillfully change the topic and get her to forget it.
A few years later, Annabeth was fresh out of college. She and Piper rented a flat in New York City. That's when Annabeth finally told her about her tattoo.
Piper was sitting on the couch, watching TV when Annabeth burst into the house.
"Woah! Why are you all happy?" Piper asked.
"I finally landed an internship in an architectural firm!" Annabeth exclaimed.
"That's amazing! We have to celebrate. Let's go out and watch a movie. The Prisoner of Azkaban's in the theaters."
Immediately, Annabeth's smile melted off her face. Piper looked at her questioningly.
"Would you care to tell me why you hate Harry Potter?" Piper asked.
Annabeth sighed. "I don't hate him or the series per se. It's…. It's about my soulmate. My tattoo to be more specific."
"Care to elaborate?" Piper asked softly, as if Annabeth was a scared animal who would flee or attack if she wasn't careful about what she said and did, which was funnily enough exactly how Annabeth felt.
Annabeth took a deep breath and began recollecting everything that had occurred like Piper was her own personal therapist. She told her about her fears, her doubts, how she was afraid that her tattoo would be shown to someone and so on. She told her about all the work she had done, all the research she had done to find out who this Dumbledore person was before giving up and resigning to the fact that he must be fictional. She talked about her feelings and emotions for probably the first time in her entire life.
Not only stopping there, she told her about everything, even those which were not related to her soulmate and the tattoo. She told her that she was afraid of meeting her soulmate. That she wanted to be her best when she finally meets him or her. That she was a mess and her life was a mess and that everything was falling apart. That she was constantly doubting herself because she might do something wrong and everything she worked for would go horribly wrong.
After she finished, Piper engulfed her in a hug and started wiping her tears. She hadn't even noticed that she was crying. She sobbed into Piper's shoulder, probably ruining her shirt, but neither of them cared. Even after her sons had turned into sniffles, Piper held her. They both fell asleep like that on the couch that night, cuddling while watching old, cheesy rom-coms which made absolutely no sense but still had a happy ending.

3 years later, when Annabeth was 25, Piper laid out a very convincing case about why she should watch that movie aka Piper wanted to watch the movie with someone because she wasn't in the mood of watching a movie alone but she didn't have anybody to watch it with, so she asked Annabeth.
"Annabeth, will you watch the Half-Blood Prince with me?" Piper asked. Annabeth cocked her eyebrow at her and answered, "What do you think my answer will be?"
"I know it will be no, but listen. Please?"
"Fine."
"Well, if you watch the movie with me, you might find your soulmate."
"No."
"Let me complete! That's not the only reason. It's just an added benefit."
"Okay."
"I want to watch the movie and I have no one to watch it with. I don't want to watch the movie alone for obvious reasons. Plus, it'll be fun to watch the movie. Along with that, you also owe me one."
"I do?"
"Yes. You do. Remember all those days when I comforted you when you had existential crises? Oh! And when you freaked out about all the classes you were taking and about the lack of time you had and therefore weren't able to complete all of your work on time. And the time when—"
"Okay. No need to call me out like that. I'll watch it. I'm still apprehensive though because this stupid tattoo has ruined an entire franchise for me."
"Thank you so much!" Piper squealed.
Still, Annabeth couldn't but feel like there was an underlying reason for this and she really wanted to know but didn't want to at the same time.

An hour later, they were at the movie theater. They had gone to watch the movie 15 minutes earlier. In order to kill time, they bought a bucket of popcorn, which they (read: Piper) completed in like, 5 minutes. Annabeth suspected that Piper was stress eating but for what, she didn't know, which was frustrating because Annabeth hated not knowing something.
After the popcorn was completed, they went and bought two more buckets of popcorn (Annabeth thought that it would be safer to buy two buckets due to Piper's stress eating, which was probably caused by something or someone? Maybe that's why she called Annabeth! She needed moral support! But, for what?).
They finally went into the theater and chose two seats only after nearly 5 minutes of Piper searching around the hall for two seats before choosing one near the middle even though there were plenty of seats throughout the hall.
Wait. Was Piper stalking someone? If so, who? Is it that dude? The one with the blonde hair? Or is it the other one? Wait. Is it that girl with the brown hair? Piper is bisexual so maybe she's stalking her. It can't be her though. She came in after us. Or is she stalking Piper? Why am I overthinking this?! Ugh!
She pushed those thoughts away because soon, the movie started. The mofi itself was quite enjoyable. She liked it to some extent even though she knew literally nothing about what happened earlier on in the story, which was caused by her aversion.
Towards the end of the movie, Dumbledore died, which was surprising to a few people (they probably haven't read the books) but the remaining were relatively unfazed. Annabeth though, was quite surprised because she wasn't expecting this Dumbledore person to die like this. Heck, she wasn't sure what she was expecting about his death.
After the movie ended, Annabeth was ready to exit the hall.
"Come on Piper. Let's leave." Annabeth said.
"Yeah, sure. Let's go." Piper replied.
As they were leaving the hall, two people brushed next to her. They were the people who sat a few rows in front of them. They both were tall and one of them had black hair while the other had blonde hair.
"Man, I can't believe Dumbledore died." said the black-haired one. Annabeth stared at him in shock for about 10 seconds before exclaiming,
"You! You're the one!"
He looked at her with wide eyes. He glanced at his wrist and back at her again. He continued this moment multiple times but stopped when Annabeth impatiently cleared her throat and looked at him with a cocked brow.
"You know, I imagined this happening, but not like this. My name is Percy Jackson." he said, stretching out his arm for her to shake.
"I'm Annabeth Chase." she said, shaking his hand.
"I think that we're going to get to know each other very well in the future."
"I think so too."
"Well then, hope I see you around."
"Me too"
As Annabeth turned to leave, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to the side. He slipped a piece of paper into her pocket. He then let go of her hand and waved as he exited the hall. She removed the paper and looked at it. It was his number and name.
'(635) 538-7357
Percy Jackson'
She smiled at the piece of paper. She would now have to thank Piper for dragging her to watch the movie because she wouldn't have found her soulmate otherwise. She also needed to interrogate Piper about her not-so-subtle ogling of Percy's friend. Not for the first time, she wondered what her tattoo said.
Maybe, she would like her soulmate a lot. And maybe, everything would fall into place. It might not as well, but Annabeth was okay with it. She could figure things out on the way and maybe, just maybe, she could be spontaneous every once in a while. Or not.
Whatever she chose to do in the future is not important because right now, she needed to rub the fact that she found her soulmate in some people's faces. Maybe she should start flaunting her tattoo as well. It would make sense because this has already occurred and she wouldn't be spoiling too many people.
Piper came to her side. "What are you doing inside? I was looking all over for you outside!" she exclaimed. "Wait. What are you looking at? What's on that paper? Show me!" "Is that his number? Wait till Octavian hears about this. We can run it in his face. He apparently hasn't found his soulmate yet. I suspect he doesn't have one. Who would ever want to be with him?"
She then dragged Annabeth out of there, still chattering about how horrible Octavian is and various methods for murdering him.
Over 2.2k words y'all (in the story, excluding the A/Ns at the beginning and end) My first one shot as well. Yay!
*celebrates but does not put emojis because the site messes them up :(*
I had so much fun writing this. I spent like two days to finally complete this. Should I write a sequel? If so, I'd probably do it with Piper or Percy because I have so many ideas about them. I also had to upload this like thrice because the site is glitching so hopefully, this time it works. *crosses fingers*
Random question of the day (yes, I still have many): Have you listened to Beetlejuice? The musical is amazing and I love it.
I'm working on the next chapter of my story and will update soon, so hold on. If you haven't read it, go read it though it's not very good. Also, I'm working on another one-shot which is kinda angsty.
Give me constructive criticism about the story I've written. Is it good? Bad? Tell me what you think, your suggestions and tips in a review.
Thank you for reading. Hope you have a beautiful day and are staying safe.
