Hello gals, guys and non-binary pals! I'm back! This is the last chapter of the story, so I hope you like it.
Random question of the day: Have you listened to SIX? It's an amazing musical about the six wives of King Henry the 8th and it's really interesting and the songs are such bops.
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians because if I did, why would I be writing fan fiction?
Now, the story. Enjoy!
Third person POV
To say that everyone was confused would be an understatement. Their heads swiveled around between Thalia, Percy and Hylla, watching them like a boxing match.
"Do you know Hylla before, Percy?" Hazel asked.
"Yes. I did. My memories are returning." said Percy. "I met her when I was in the Sea of Monsters."
"The gorgon's blood must be healing your mind"
"Are you telling me that you've had amnesia?" Hylla asked.
"Afraid so." Percy said.
The other Amazons had only gotten more confused as time went on. Hylla saw their faces and commanded them to leave. Thalia did the same with the hunters.
"Gorgon's blood, huh, Kelp Head?" Thalia asked. "Where did you get that?"
Percy then began recounting everything that had led up this moment with Hazel and Frank adding in their own commentary, thoughts and what was happening before Percy came and what happened while he was sleeping, or elsewhere.
"You saw Nico?" Thalia asked. "Wait until I see him. I'll bash his head in for keeping something this monumental and important from me. And Annabeth. And the whole camp."
"You know Nico?" Hazel and Frank asked at once. They looked at each other, blushed and looked away.
"It's a long story. I'll tell you later. Plus, you should've seen 12-year old Nico. He was adorable."
"Wait." Percy interjected. "I remember him now. I'm going to wring his neck once I find him."
"And I'll join you."
"You can talk about killing this Nico person later." Hylla said before they could come up with more creative ways to kill Nico. "But, let's first discuss the matter in hand. I could help you but I can't until I defeat Otrera in a duel to the death."
"That won't happen because Thanatos has been captured and now, she can't die." Frank said.
"Well then, what do we do?"
"Maybe we could create a distraction." said Thalia.
"Maybe, Otrera's soldiers could be put on guard duty." Percy said. "Then, the Hunters begin to attack them and retreat after defeating them"
"They will be blamed."
"And security will be doubled." Hylla said.
"We will come back in regular intervals."
"And we'll be so busy that Otrera and I won't have time to fight together."
"By then, we would have probably gone to Alaska and freed Thanatos" Hazel piped in.
"And you'll be free to kill Otrera in a duel and win." Frank said.
"We'll stop attacking when you give us a signal". Thalia said.
"And we'll IM you after we free Thanatos."
"It's that simple."
They all looked at each other and nodded. Their plan would be set into motion.
"Wait," Hylla said, "Reyna sent you here, right? Did she give you anything meant for me?"
"Well," Percy said, sliding the ring off his necklace, "Reyna wanted me to give you this. She hopes you can help for the battle that will happen on the Feast of Fortuna."
"I know about that. Polybotes wants us to help him. That will only happen if Otrera wins the duel. If I win, I'll rush to Reyna's aid.".
"We might have a slight problem," Hazel said. "If you let us go that easily, the other Amazons will get suspicious."
"Well, we'll just have to arrest you, won't we? Not all of you though."
"Good. Let's hope that this works out. Otherwise, it's game over for all of us."
With that, Hylla called the Amazons and commanded them to arrest Percy and Frank. She told them to leave Hazel and Thalia though, saying that she wanted to talk to them - one woman to two other women.
—- POV change—-
Hazel's POV:
The Amazons followed her orders and carried them out. Hazel looked at Arion in his cage. She remembered who he was. It was that horse she met all those years ago in Alaska, the one she chased around on the last day she was alive, and how she was late to go home that day. She remembered that he liked gold nuggets.
"Do you like the horse?" Hylla asked. "That's Arion. He's an immortal horse, the son of Ceres and Neptune.".
"How did two gods have a child who's a horse?".
"Trust me." Thalia interjected. "You don't want to know.".
"I'll take your word for it.".
"He doesn't like to be restrained." Hylla said. "Since nobody can tame him, we keep him in that cage because he is untamable.".
"I wonder…" she said and walked towards the horse. She knelt on the floor in front of him and sensed a gold nugget in the ground. She willed it to come near her. She then offered the nugget to Arion with her hand.
"Don't put your hand in the cage!" Kinzie exclaimed and rushed forward, but Hylla restrained her. Arion ate the nugget out of her hand. She tentatively put her hand on his snout and he nuzzled her hand.
"The last person who did that—" Kinzie started.
"Now has a metal arm." Hylla finished.
"He likes gold." Hazel said. "I knew him….. back in Alaska."
Hylla nodded, not pressing any further. She was relieved because she didn't want to elaborate and talk about her past. She didn't know who she could trust and whether they would trust her once they knew her secret.
"You lived in Alaska before?" Thalia asked. "When?"
"Uh…." Hazel replied, grasping for words.
"You escaped through the Doors of Death." Hylla said. It wasn't a question, it was a statement. "I lived with Circe long enough to recognize an escaped soul when I see one. You wouldn't have recognized me back then. I was like a Barbie, all dressed up with fake smiles."
"Yuck." Thalia said. She then turned to Hazel "It's okay if you're an escaped soul, I once died too."
"You did? Then, how?" Hazel asked.
"I wasn't exactly dead, you see. My dad, Zeus," she said his name as if he was something sour she was being forced to eat, "turned me into a pine tree before I could die. I was then revived when Percy and Annabeth found the Golden Fleece. Of course, that wasn't their primary objective."
"So that's why they were in the Sea of Monsters." Hylla said.
"Yup" she said, popping the P. (Sorry. Had to use that cliche at least once)
They all looked at each other and nodded. We then awkwardly looked around the room, not knowing what to do. Hylla, however, looked at them in a calculating manner, as if she was thinking of ways in which they would be useful for a plan which she was thinking up.
After a few awkward minutes of silence, Hylla looked at them and smiled.
"Why are you smiling like that?" Thalia asked. "You're smiling like how Annabeth does when she has a plan and wants to use us as - oh, no."
"Use you as what?" Hazel exclaimed.
"Bait." Hylla answered instead of Thalia. "But don't worry. You aren't bait. Kinzie," she said, turning towards Kinzie, "who are guarding the prisoners?"
"Otrera's guards." Kinzie replied.
"So, it will be their fault if the prisoners escape."
"The people on our side can just turn a blind eye to them."
"Wait. Are we planning a jailbreak?" Thalia interjected.
"Yes."
"Can I join?"
"I don't think you can." Hazel said. "You just need to stay here while we escape. Then, you can leave normally."
"Fine."
And with that, they planned the first jailbreak in the history of the Amazons. Hazel, Frank and Percy went to Alaska and freed Thanatos. Hylla defeated Otrera in two consecutive duels (Otrera stayed dead after the second one), earning the name Hylla Twice-Kill, and went on to help Camo Jupiter during the battle. The hunters went their way but that wasn't the last time they met. They met multiple times. In fact, the next time they met, they combined forces against Orion.
The End of the story, my beautiful readers. I have been working on this story for quite a long time-two years, can you believe? I finally completed the story. Maybe I'll write something more like an epilogue or something but, I might not as well.
So, did you like it? Or not? Do you have any tips or suggestions that you want to give me? Any writing advice? Constructive criticism?Thoughts? Leave a review and tell me anything and everything that you want to tell me.
Feel free to give me any prompts that you want me to write about. You can give me a prompt by PMing me or in a review in any of my stories.
Hope all of you in the U.S who are of age have voted and those in countries where elections are occurring or will occur and if you are of age, please go vote because it is important that you vote.
I am currently working on another one-shot which is slightly angsty (or maybe a lot, I dunno. I haven't decided how angsty it should be). In the meantime, go check out my other stories that I've posted and I hope you enjoy them. Feel free to leave reviews on them as well.
Thank you so much for reading! Hope you have a wonderful day which is as wonderful as you are and stay safe ❤️
