A/n: Ever since the game of Rune Factory 4 special came out I want to do a fanfiction for my favorite pairing in the game Leon x Frey. I will include the events from newlywed mode cause that itself is cute on its own. Anyway I don't know if you rescued Venti or not so until I get to that point that this fanfiction is when Frey defeats the Sech Empire and Venti disappears. Anyway I hope you like this and it will be from a third person point of view unless the chapter say otherwise

Chapter 1

Spring 4th

Spring, at of all the seasons the was her least favorite. Frey didn't know what day it was nor bothered looking at her calendar all she knew was the spring would never be the same again. The girl was currently at Dragon Lake watching the fish going about their day like nothing happen at all. It wasn't even day out, she was here at an extremely late hour so no one at the castle knew she was even here well except for one person. That person was one of her butler's Vishnal he had gotten up to well use the restroom but as he finished and left he saw that princess was not in her room. He looked at door and saw her walking toward the lake, 'Is she going to do some fishing? Why so late at the hour?' He wonder why she would go there and so he followed. He didn't go to the lake because he thought it be rude but he watch a bit, trying to figure out why in the world she was not sleeping in her bed. In his mind the princess always seemed happy even after Lady Ventuswill disappeared even though the princess was the closest one to her well besides Leon of course. Frey would tell everyone in the town that she was alright and that Ventuswill was not gone forever. He was about to finally go ask what was wrong until he felt a hand on his shoulder. "It's best if I go talk with her Vishnal I think I know why she is up as this hour for it's why I'm up this late."

The man didn't have to turn around, he recognized the voice, it was Leon the last guardian the princess saved. Vishnal turned to male who was taller him almost as tall as Dylas but he believe Dylas was a bit shorter than Leon but would not voice those thoughts to both parties. Leon could see the worry on his friends face, "Just leave this to me I'll have her back in bed in no time and I will refrain from teasing her you have my word." At his words Vishnal did believe him, he smiled he knew that his fox friend loved teasing the princess and sure the two would argue some but for some reason her closest friend was Leon. The two truly did get along get together it made him a little jealous since he had some feelings for Frey for quite some time but he'll still keep them to himself. "Please do what you can Leon I'm not sure what is troubling her like you say but if you know of a way to help then please do help Frey, um the princess I mean." Then Vishnal watch as Leon walked off and then went back to the castle to get some shut eye. He knew the princess would sleep later than normal but he was okay with that, he believe she would need it after today.

Even for being so dark out his eyes could still see everything, even her. Of course he could Leon was part fox so anything a fox could do he could do. He watch the girl he had come to call as a close friend. Someone he loved teasing to no end, seeing her blushing face warm him up. Some would say he was smitten by her, no he knew what the problem was he knew what he was feeling anytime they would speak. Damn he hated that he felt this way because the other half of him scream to stay away but he couldn't no matter how hard he tried. Leon was in love with Frey, he knew he was but he would never reveal his true feelings. He couldn't, heck if a day ever came when she was confessing her feelings to him and ask to be her boyfriend he would have to say no all because of his past. Even though of part him would love to say yes but until that day came his feelings would never be known the only person who knows that he likes her is Lin Fa. The women is smarter than she always appear and she would ask him everyday about Frey. The women would always tease him which he hated but he couldn't tease her back, always respect your elders. After removing his thoughts Leon finally approach her. Her green minty hair sparkling in the moonlight, the clothes she wore were her pajamas, her beautiful eyes that he loved oh so much. She was definitely beautiful.

"You know you shouldn't be out this late it's bad for your health." Leon just casual spoke then sat next her. He was not his nightwear for he didn't go to his bed at all. Frey sighed, "I know but I could be saying the same to you." Leon looked at the sky, "I couldn't sleep no matter how hard I try so I decided to clear my head and usually staring at the night sky helps." Frey looked up too, watching as the stars shimmered in the sky. "So care to tell me why your here Frey." She knew what he was doing and was grateful, there's no one she rather voice her true thoughts than to Leon for she knew that Leon was always willing to listen. As much as his teasing would sometimes bugs her Leon became a close friend one that she relied on a lot for her troubles. Before she could say anything Leon beat her, "Your here because today is Day 4 of the spring season which means today is Venti's birthday." Venti that name, her first best friend. A friend who she loved and cherished as friend more than anything in this world and was willing to help save the guardians and save all of Selphia from the Sech Empire, well they were corrupt because of the Emperor because the man was a lunatic but it's was all because of her love to save a dear friend. Leon watch her carefully and saw how her body shook, he sighed, he knew it. He knew why she was out here, out of everyone the one who has yet to cry her feelings out was Frey. She was trying to stay positive for all the townsfolk but deep down she was hurting.

Just like he thought Frey began to cry, tears steaming down her face. As much as Leon wanted to never see a single tear on her face this needed to happen, no matter how much it pain him to see the one he loves cry. Then Leon felt her wrap her arms around him and began to cry into his chest. "I miss her so much Leon I...it so hard to sleep in the castle knowing that she is gone." She just kept crying and all Leon could do is comfort her placing his hand on her back and rubbed it. He didn't care if his chest or parts of his clothes would get wet from her tears he would be there for her, always protect her no matter hard life might get. Eventually her shaking stop and she finally parted from him, her nose really red and eyes puffy from crying so much. Small tears still escape them but Leon just smiled, "Are you alright now?" "Yes I...*she bit her lip* needed that." Leon wipes the rest of her tears with his thumb causing her to blush some, "Try not to hide your feelings Frey I know your the princess and all but all of the townsfolk not just me worry about you." Frey sighed, he was absolutely right, "Your right Leon I just...didn't want any of them to see me in agony even though she's been gone for 5 months now. I guess I'm not used to it I guess." Leon looked at her, "Nor will you. The town will never truly recover unless Venti returns and one day she will but right now because I was close to Venti like you. You know as well I that she would hate for you to be like this she would call you a moron for crying like this. She would tell you to live your life and still think about her from time to time." Once again he was right, Leon knew exactly what to say when the moment was right, she really was truly an idiot for keeping all these feelings in let alone not talk to her friends in awhile. "I hate that your right she would call me a moron." Frey laughed at that then sighed, she then stood up knocking off the dirt that was on her skirt.

Leon stood as well and smiled, "I shall walk you to your room princess." Frey blushed, "Leon..." but smiles none the less. Once in front of her door she turned back to Leon, "Thank you Leon I really appreciate your words that help made me realize just how ridiculous I was being." "Your thanks is not necessary Frey you just finally need to let all your emotions out and I was just there to comfort you that is all." Frey just poke his chest, "I don't care you really help me out Leon and thanks is necessary." She blushed slightly she too had a crush on him, she then smiled. Frey then closed her eyes and gave his lips a quick peck before going into her room blushing very heavily. Leon just stood there for moment until he walk back to the inn, his cheeks tinted with pink. The women was going to be the death of him, 'Damn it that's it I want to break my promise to you Maria Frey means everything to me and I don't want her to belong to anyone else but me.' Then went to bed hoping that fate would be by his side.
