Bianca Silena Jackson P.O.V.
"Mom!" I yelled. "I can't find my shoes!" It was the first day of middle school, and my parents were ANNOYINGLY jittery. "Coming!" Mom walked in the room. "Did you check under your bed?" I ducked under her bed. She pulled her shoes out. "Yes. Yes I did." her mom cracked a smile. "Wise Girl!" A shout came from downstairs. "What do I make for lunch? I packed the blue cookies!" Mom rolled her eyes. "A sandwich Seaweed Brain!" She called back down. "Your father is an idiot."
After I pulled my shoes on, I walked downstairs. I wouldn't admit it, but I was as nervous as my parents were. I ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast. We only have cereal on special occasions. My dad always said that you should only pick flowers after eating cereal. He said it was to "keep Great-Aunt Demi happy." There was always a rumble of thunder after he said that, even when it was completely clear outside. It was strange but I never questioned it. "The bus is here!" Mom cried. Dad yelped and threw my backpack at me. As I ran out the door, I saw my parents throwing toast in the fireplace, softly murmuring something that sounded vaguely like "Tyche.*"

I walked home from the bus stop with my little brother Luke. Luke was in fifth grade and one year younger than me. Though he was a few inches taller and he reminded me of that every day. We were one block from our house when we spotted a girl standing on the sidewalk staring at us. "Hello legaciesssss." She hissed. Hissed? Legacies? Then, the girl began to transform. She had glowing red eyes, one donkey leg, and one bronze leg. Luke screamed. The girl took a step forward. I pushed Luke behind me and yelled, "RUN!" We sprinted off into the forest with the creature close on our heels. It was getting closer. And closer. I could feel it's hot breath down my neck. Something whipped past my ear. "DUCK!" Someone yelled. We did. The whistling noises stopped. We turned around and the creature was gone.
A red-headed girl, around twelve, stepped in front of us. She raised her hand and a girl grabbed Luke. "Hey!" he protested. She held a knife to my brother's throat and he immediately shut up. Another girl walked out of the shadows. She looked around sixteen, with spiky black hair and electric blue eyes. Hmm... She looked familiar. Like I'd seen her in a photo somewhere. Weird "Who are you?" Redhead asked. She stared at me with silver eyes, the shape and color of the full moon. "Beryl." I said. It was the first name that came to my head. A bit old-fashioned but I really didn't want to tell them my real name. Blue Eyes stiffened at the sound of my alias. "Last name?" Redhead inquired. I remembered Mom talking about her half brother. Malcolm Pace, she had said. "Pace." I told her. "Beryl Pace." Blue Eyes sat down in shock. "And your brother?" Redhead cocked her head to the side. "Jason Pace." I replied smoothly. I'm getting good at this! Blue Eyes sat up in a rage. "WHAT!?" She exploded. I cringed. What did I say? I wondered. "Phoebe," Redhead closed her hand into a fist. Phoebe, the girl holding my brother, cut a little into his neck. Luke gasped in pain. Redhead leaned in closer. "It would be in your best interests not to lie child," She told me. Who was SHE to call me child. She looks about as old as I am! But I REALLY didn't want Luke to die. "I'm Bianca Zoe Jackson." I told them in a rush. "And my brother is Luke Charles Jackson." There were gasps all around as the watching girls started to whisper among themselves. "Children of Percy and Annabeth Jackson?" Blue Eyes asked, almost slyly. "Y-yes." I replied shakily. "How do you know?" Redhead opened her hand again and Phoebe let go of Luke. He sat down, gasping. Blue Eyes smiled at me. "Because I'm your Aunt Thalia."
A/N: I'm sorry about switching back and forth between 1st and 3rd person P.O.V's. I originally wrote this in 3rd person but changed it to first. I guess I didn't get everything. The next chapter will be a little longer. Ciao!
