Author's Note - So I'm not sure what happened with this chapter and the last chapter when I posted them. I showed them as posted, but not everyone could see them. Attempting to post them again. This may be a repost for some of you.
New Year's Eve
Life went on as Jason and Kellie's family adjusted to the addition of Kelsey. Kellie was looking into providing self-defense classes when she was ready to go back to work. The idea was prompted by Sasha and Willow who had asked her to show them more about her techniques beyond anything they had been able to find. She continued getting requests to consult on cases from law enforcement agencies.
Lorenzo took over as the executive director at the Crossing Into Dawn foundation while Charles was reinstated as legal counsel. Kellie decided not to work directly for the foundation, but rather chose to consult or help as needed.
Lorenzo did buy the fancy ring Alexis wanted and proposed by the riverbank where he took her in, Bridgette, the Dodge Viper on their first official date years ago. Rather than tell everyone they were engaged, they planned a New Year's Eve party in the afternoon.
When the guests arrived at the home Lorenzo and Alexis purchased, they found the living room ready for a wedding. Lorenzo and Alexis were standing at the fire place waiting for the guest to arrive and sit down.
The priest welcomed the guests and began the ceremony.
"Do you, Alexis, take Lorenzo, to be your lawfully wedded husband, for better for worse, in sickness and in health, to love, honor and cherish as long as you both shall live?" The priest asked.
"I do," Alexis said, slipping a ring on Lorenzo's finger.
"Do you, Lorenzo," The priest continued, take Alexis to be your lawfully wedded husband, for better for worse, in sickness and in health, to love, honor and cherish as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Lorenzo said, putting a ring on Alexis's finger.
"Then by the power invested in me by the state of New York," the priest said, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Lorenzo kissed Alexis as Sam, Kellie, and Sage got everyone cheering.
"Did you two know about this?" Sage asked Kellie and Sam afterwards at the reception
"Not a clue," Kellie said, "But it explains the black tie nature of the dress code."
"And why both of them were really subtly adamant they wanted us to come," Sam said.
"It's about time," Kellie said, "I am really happy for them. I have to track down Jason and my daughter. I need to feed Kelsey before she gets hangry."
"Hold on," Sage say, "I had an announcement, actually Milo and I have an announcement. We were going to make here, but I don't want to steal Uncle Lo and Alexis's thunder."
"We already figured out you're pregnant," Kellie said as Sage's jaw dropped.
"We noticed the lack of alcohol in your drinks lately," Sam said.
"Congratulations," Lorenzo said, having overheard the conversation, "And no, you announcing a new addition to the family is not stealing anyone's thunder."
Sage's eyes teared up and she hugged Lorenzo.
"I can't believe you pulled this off without telling anyone," Sam said.
"We wanted it simple and hopefully a good surprise," Alexis said, joining them.
"So am I surprised you didn't do your own vows," Sam said.
"Short, simple, and only mildly sappy," Alexis said, "Your father and I have said everything else we wanted to say to each other."
They were interrupted by a herd of the kids coming through. She overheard Jared yell something about Jamie scaling a wall like spider-man.
"By the way, baby sitters were a brilliant idea," Kellie said, "But I hope you paid them enough. Excuse me while I go figure out what my daredevil son is up to."
Kellie was making her way after the kids when she heard Kelsey's cry. She turned around and saw Jason following her.
"I'll go get Jamie off the outside of the house," Jason said, "While you feed Kelsey."
"I'll take that since I'm only on that has the milk right now," Kellie said, taking Kelsey, "That boy is just begging to lose his video game privileges."
When Kellie finished feeding Kelsey, she ran into Sonny and Carly with Donna on her way to look for Jason and the kids.
"Hey, let me take a look at this little princess," Sonny said.
"You didn't happen to see if Jason found Jamie," Kellie asked, handing Kelsey to Sonny.
"They got a ladder and got him down," Carly said, "Jason and Sam are with him and Danny in the kitchen. Danny apparently dared Jamie to do it."
"Jamie is enough of a daredevil without anyone egging him on," Kellie said.
"Sounds a lot like your mom, doesn't it, Kelsey," Sonny said.
"If I'm climbing an outside wall," Kellie said, "Somebody probably needs saving or I'm trying to get away from someone."
"How many times did you sneak out of the house when you first came to town," Sonny asked.
"I was an adult. Not a kid," Kellie said, "Nor did I scale any walls…never mind."
"Mom, Jared and Mateo are teaching Clare and Avery to play poker," Alyssa yelled.
"Are they gambling anything?" Kellie asked.
"Dares," Alyssa said.
"Dares?" Kellie asked.
"Jamie lost and had to climb out the window," Alyssa said, "Since he and Danny are in trouble, they need Clare and Avery to play."
"I think I"m going to take my kids home now," Kellie said, "And get them changed to go over to the Quartermaines for their new years sleepover"
"We can keep an eye on Alyssa and Kelsey while you get the rest of the kids," Carly said.
"Thank you," Kellie said, rushing off.
Kellie & Jason's House - Evening
The twins and Alyssa had been dropped off at the Quartermaines for new year's sleepover with Jake, Danny, Scout, Leo, and Rocco.
Kellie came downstairs, carrying a baby monitor, and found Jason playing pool. Jason missed his shot as he watched her walk in the room.
"She went out like a light," Kellie said, setting the monitor down and grabbing a pool cue, "And we have a few hours to ourselves before I have to feed her."
"Did you have anything specific in mind to pass the time?" Jason asked, leaning over Kellie as she lined up her shot.
"You did miss your shot," Kellie said, taking her shot and sending a ball into the corner pocket, "I believe the rules of strip pool require you to take off your shirt. Boy Toy."
"I thought you were letting that nickname die," Jason said, taking his shirt off. Kellie went to line up another shot.
"Seems appropriate for what I have in mind," Kellie said, lining up her shot. Jason leaned over her again, moved her hair away from her neck and kissed her along the neck, causing her her to miss the shot.
Jason dropped his pool cue, turned Kellie to face him, and lifted her up on the pool table. He kissed her before taking her shirt off.
"Damn, I've missed this," Kellie said, kissing him back and then stopping, "Wait, your test results haven't come back yet."
"Monica called me earlier today," Jason said, "She checked them herself. I don't have any swimmers. But if you still want to use something else until you can have your procedure."
"Monica's absolutely sure," Kellie replied.
"Yeah, she had the tests run twice," Jason said as Kellie kissed him and pulled him back with her as she laid down on the pool table. Jason moved any balls out of her way in the process.
Kellie and Jason's Bedroom - After Midnight
Later they made their way upstairs when Kelsey cried, letting them know she was ready to be fed. After Kelsey was back asleep, Kellie and Jason ended up in the bedroom. They were curled up against each other, unaware of the time, when fireworks went off letting them know it was midnight.
"Happy New Year," Kellie said, running her fingers along Jason's chest.
"Are we supposed to like toast champagne or something?" Jason asked, kissing her.
"I'd go for tequila," Kellie said, "But that would require getting out of bed. I've got everything I need right here. Why would I want to leave?"
"I like the way you think," Jason said as they heard Kelsey wake up, crying
"Hold that thought," Kellie said, going to check on her. A few minutes later, Kellie came back in the room with Kelsey.
"I don't think she likes the fireworks," Kellie said, "She'd immediately start fussing as soon as I put her back down."
Jason took Kelsey and Kellie crawled back into bed. Jason held Kelsey with one arm and put his other arm around Kellie.
"There's nothing to be scared of," Jason said to Kelsey who promptly fell back to sleep.
"She's definitely a daddy's girl," Kelsey said, "I will say that. She definitely settles down and goes right to sleep when you're around."
"I'd say she gets that from you," Jason said.
"I can't really argue with that," Kellie said, "When I was having all the nightmares and stealing your shirts to sleep in when you weren't here."
"Don't you still steal my shirts?" Jason asked.
"That's my prerogative," Kellie said, yawning, "It's only ones you've already worn."
"I don't mind," Jason said, as Kellie drifted off to sleep against him.
The End
Author's Note: Well, everyone this is the last chapter of "Nothing Left To Prove" and the end of the story arc that came to me almost three years ago now. It's definitely been a journey. Thank you for coming along for the ride. I know the question when I end a story is usually what's next, is there another story for Kellie, for Jason. I don't know exactly when the next story will come. I do have some ideas, but need to spend some time contemplating and planning the stories. There will be something...stay tuned.
