This time we have quite a few reviews to go through, which is nice. We'll start by taking a quick look at those made by my newest reviewer, Tia13Tia.

(Referencing chapter 5) Holy fudge, even though I'm Jewish, I actually quite like the take on Israel. It's funny.

I'm glad you enjoy it, for a while I was worried that if any Israelis found this FF they'd get super triggered.

(Referencing chapter 7) I wonder if your opinions match that of the main character. This does appear to be a self insert.

Some of my opinions match that of Christian Atarashimono, and some don't. The very earliest "iterations" of his character were basically a SI with some Light and Lelouch mixed in, but during the pre-release development process that changed quite a lot.

(Still referencing chapter 7) I also wonder if you'd be interested on discussing/pointlessly bickering about/debating/trying to kill each other over the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

Yes, please.

(Referencing chapter 8) Best description of modern news ever.

In 2016 when I wrote that chapter, it seemed a lot more satirical than it does now.

(Referencing chapter 11) I love how this fanfic just spits in the face of and laughs at almost everything in existence.

What can I say, that's one of my best skills. If you can even call it a skill.

(Still referencing chapter 11) Also, the fandom doesn't only consist of people that think that Light is evil and L is not.

Well, it almost does. I'd estimate between 80 and 90 percent.

Next up we have AV reviewing chapter 52.

"'And that's the other thing, Rugo. We live in an age where you can build an entire culture around anal sex and venereal disease and then parade in the streets with giant dildos and call it pride. But say you're proud to come from a people who gave the world Aristotle, Shakespeare and Beethoven, and they call you a monster. And with this power-'"

And I'm back with another review for the gay in your life who has been really really gay this year, whether that's your gay child, gay brother, sister, or just your sister's gay child who has been your brother this year.

I mostly put that bit of dialogue in there to reinforce the fact that the decoy Kira is an asshole.

Also, an update in 15 days? Make the chapter title a meme if you're being kidnapped-oh wait.

Actually, this is either the third or fourth meme-related chapter title. But this reminds me, if the next chapter isn't out by Christmas… well, merry Christmas.

"'Ne ne papa-'"

You know what, I wouldn't even be mad if I got cockblocked by a Hetalia ringtone.

Keeping the ringtones consistent is surprisingly hard. Well, not hard, just time-consuming.

"'Our decisions at our previous meetings became reality last week, it's definitely a fact that one of the seven here is connected to Kira, and this person has decided to use that connection not just for himself, but for the company and for the seven of us. How great is that?'"

So it's the yotsuba arc again? Well I can't say I didn't expect this seeing that the previous segments have also closely followed the original storyline, but still...

Well, kind of. In Death Note the Yotsuba arc was the main thing happening at that part of the story, in fact it was the only important thing happening. In here, it's mainly just to set Luci and his minions on a wild goose chase, to get them out of the country and distract them long enough for Team Sydney to finish the latest Kiran hardware/equipment, and for Team Tokyo to find the other DN owner.

Also, I see that you've gained a new reviewer. Congratulations.

I hope he/she becomes a regular reviewer.

Finally, shoutout to triazatriborinane for following and favouriting both myself and 私は、キラ / I, Kira.

(Lauren's POV, 12:35, September 5)

'You know something I was thinking the other day? Nazism is illegal in Germany. Using Nazi greetings and flying Nazi flags is illegal in Germany. Why isn't the KKK unconstitutional in America? Why aren't white hoods and white supremacist propaganda illegal there? Why?'

'Because Germany is ashamed of their bigotry, Connor. America is proud of it.' Chris answers.

'Whoop, there it is.'

'So Con, what are you planning to do with the money?'

'Can't tell you two yet. It's a surprise.'

'You're doing something for Lauren and I?'

'Of course. You guys are my friends, plus the idea of someone profiting of your personal relationship is pretty dumb to begin with. You know, to a disturbing number of people, friendship means money these days. I don't ever want to become one of those people.'

I'm glad we have this kid on our side.

'That's very mature of you.'

'Yeah… so, what was it like?'

'It's a little to private to go into details.'

'Fine, fine. Just, from my experience, sex is like pizza. When it's good it's good, and when it's bad, it's still pretty good!'

The three of us take our seats outside at the table. Kallet's already waiting for us.

'You guys need to learn to walk faster, I've been waiting for like two hours!'

'Lunchtime started six minutes ago.'

'Whatever. By the way, in science class I was wondering, if humans weren't so helpful bringing whales back into the sea, would they eventually grow legs due to the evolutionary process?'

'Well your mother managed so I guess you're right.'

'Oh, don't be jealous, Connor. I could win America's Next Top Model, I bet.'

'There's an animal category?'

The three of us erupt into laughter. This guy's got some serious balls to say that to her face. After quieting down, I pull a miniature pizza out of my lunch bag.

'You keep eating like that and you'll get fat.'

'I see you speak from experience.'

Oh god, now I'm doing it. She doesn't say a word, just packs up her things and storms off. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.

'Got a little love letter?'

'What? Oh.' I see a small torn-out piece of paper next to my bag, which wasn't there before. She must've dropped it on her way out. Turning it over I see what she's written.

Roses are red, violets are blue,

If you touch him again, I'll kill you

'Aha. Ahahahaha! …Connor, is she still behind Chris and I?'

'Yup, she's watching us half-hidden behind a tree.'

I quickly grab Chris by the top of his shirt and pull him toward me, pressing our lips together. I'm not afraid of you, Kallet. I have the power of Kira and anime on my side!

A gust of wind breezes through, taking the paper with it, and out of the corner of my eye I see Connor steal a slice of the mini-pizza. I'll let him have it.

Pulling my lips of, I ask in a soft voice,

'Be honest, Chris… will you ever love another girl as much as me?'

'…Yes, and she will call you mum.'

'Guys, I like seeing you two happy and all but flirting right in front of me is a bit embarrassing.'

'Oh, right, sorry.'

(Kallet's POV, 12:39, September 5)

Lauren Blackheart… what shade of red will your blood be?

And I just got a text… it's from Luci.

'Look at this. They're making out. I want them dead.'

(Yatsuk's POV, 15:29, September 5)

I enter through the front doors of the recently-upgraded headquarters building, trying not to get distracted by all the new fancy equipment. Walking over to an input panel about the size of an Ipad I enter a four-digit code, before placing my right index finger on a scanner. It analyzes it, and projects a copy onto an attached screen. I then take one of the metal tubes and place it over my right eye, and a laser or something quickly scans my retina, the results are projected onto the screen, before a picture of my face appears behind them. The next door unlocks, and I walk into the metal detector room. I take out my phone and place it on the table next to everyone else's and pass through successfully.

A minute later, Aivenawa comes in.

'Morning. Fingerprints, eye scans… it's a pain coming in here. Where's Luci?' He grumpily questions.

'In his room, on a date with Kallet. He thinks he can get some more information out of her.'

'Well, considering she could still be connected to the Kiras, I'm not surprised Luci would do that.'

'Wanna watch?'

'Can we?'

'This building has cameras set up everywhere. So it shows up on these large screens…'

'Any audio?'

'Nope. No microphones, just try to read their lips or something.'

(Kallet's POV, 15:31, September 5)

Something's definitely up with Luci today. I'm barely wearing a thing and he hasn't even mentioned it. He looks like he just saw a squirrel get run over or something.

'Umm, this doesn't feel like a date at all. You have this great facility now, yet you don't seem very into it, or me for that matter.'

He sags deeper in his position.

'Into it? Not really, I'm actually kind of depressed.'

'Depressed?'

'Yes. For the longest time, I thought that between you, Chris and Connor, one of you was Kira. I'm a little shocked that I was wrong. Well, I still suspect the two boys and Chris' girlfriend of some kind of involvement, thus the cameras and microphones in their clothes. But Kira could control people's actions, meaning he could've controlled them to make me think they were involved with the Kiras. All four of you may have been controlled by Kira, everything fits in my mind if I assume that to be fact. The only thing I don't understand is why none of you were killed.'

'Maybe because, as far as Kira knows, none of us have done anything deserving death?'

'Still, if you were being controlled without being conscious of it, then you're nothing more than victims. I have to start the investigation almost from scratch, we're back to before Pearl joined the case. If Kira took interest in Chris because of his support of the fictional counterpart and ideological similarity, Lauren because of her connections to the police, you because you're rich and used to killing, and Connor for whatever reason, and then controlled some or all of you to be suspects in my eyes, that's a pretty big shock to me. Very frustrating.'

'Luci, with that line of thinking, it means that while we were being controlled, we were Kiras…'

'Not necessarily, but it's certainly possible. When you were all confined, the killings went on just as normal, remember. And don't forget that Kira saved those three from their execution, making it impossible that he's one of them. Or you, for that matter. And during the confrontation he implied that the second Kira is still around… but there's no reason the Kiras couldn't control someone else to do the killings for them.'

'That's an interesting theory, but if that is the case, then catching the Kiras will be difficult.'

'Yes… that's why I'm depressed. You control someone and use them to kill the criminals, then when that person is caught, you transfer the power to someone else, and the first person loses all their memories… that would make capture impossible.'

'But that's not definite yet. There are too many things we don't understand about Kira's powers right now. Come on, show some energy.'

'Energy…? I'm just not feeling it. Why even bother?'

I gape at this confession. Is it a confession? I don't know, but whatever it is…

'Don't be ridiculous! Just because none of your suspects are the true Kiras… just because you were wrong, you want to give up?!'

'I may have worded it poorly but… today I'm just in a bit of a bad mood. I do, however, have something else we must discuss. As the old saying goes, you never know what you have 'till you lose it. And once you lose it, you can never get it back.'

Luci gives off a soft laugh, but I can immediately tell there's something sinster on his mind.

'What's so funny? Do I have something in my teeth?'

'Oh, Kallet. You think you're so clever, don't you? "Oh, look at me, I hide dark secret no one will guess because of my sweet face". But you underestimate my power.'

Oh god…

'During your confinement, the truth serum ensured that all the answers you provided were honest. However, it appears Pearl and I were asking the wrong questions. Last night, I talked to a friend of mine on Skype. She told me about the… collaboration you two did.'

My eyes go wide in fear.

'Needless to say, Vimerica, she's pretty pissed off at your absolute failure.'

'Please, I can explain!'

'Let me talk. So, as I was saying, she requested that I hand you over to her, and she didn't hide the fact that if I did, she'd kill you herself. She went into quite some detail as to how she'd do it, too. I won't spoil anything for you, but I'll let you know that her plan is slow, painful, and honestly quite creative. Even I was disgusted when she told me about what she had planned for you. Of course, while I could hand you over to her, I have other options too. She sent me quite a lot of stuff, everything from recorded conversations to-'

'Okay, I get it. You have all the evidence to prove what I did. What are you thinking of doing with it?'

'Well, I could show it to the Task Force.'

'They'd kill me.'

'Yes, yes they would. Alternatively, I can leak all the information to the public, and let Kira have his way with you.'

'So that's now three ways that you can ensure I die a horrible death. Why are you telling me this?'

'Because, I need you to know the fact that I now effectively have you at gunpoint, twenty-four-seven. Just do everything I order you to and I won't pull the trigger.'

'For how long?!'

'When the Kiras are defeated I'll take their power and effectively have everyone held at gunpoint, so… forever, I guess.'

The rest of my life as a slave. I should've seen this coming. I'm an idiot.

'But what about… Chris…'

'Chris is my enemy, and therefore he is yours too. Forget you ever liked him. He banged Lauren, remember, so he won't miss you.'

I can't handle this. I cannot handle this.

I collapse onto the bed, soaking the covers in tears.

'Are you… are you going to trick and betray people like… like this until the very end?!'

'Kallet, I don't want this to depress you.'

'You… clearly… do…'

'No, I don't, however this is a necessary step in the process. In order for us to defeat the Kiras and rule the world together, I need to make sure you belong to me and me only.'

'Wait, what do you mean "together"?'

'As a reward for all you've done for me, and all you're going to do for me, I want you to be my second-in-command when I take over the planet. You can be a queen, an empress, a goddess, all those things rolled into one.'

'Could I keep Chris?'

'No. Seriously, I don't understand, what's up with your obsession with Chris? You could get any boy or man in Sydney, and you choose that average-looking freak. What is it about him you love so much?'

'I'm a little embarrassed to say… he fucks better than other boys.'

'That's it?! Not because he's ex-mafia, not because he could be Kira…'

'You wanted an honest answer and you got it. Now can we please not talk about this again?!'

'Fine, whatever...'

We hear a knock at the door.

'Luci, are you two done in there? I need your help with something.'

'Sorry Kallet, Pearl needs me.'

And just like that he leaves, and I'm left sitting here, alone. He didn't even give a kiss.

And he's back to Pearl. What kind of a name is that anyway? It's like how ghetto people name their kids after stuff they can't afford. Pearl, Silver, Belntley, Child support…

(Indy's POV, 16:00, September 5)

'So, I've read through the script Chris gave us before his capture. I can see just a couple things we should change. Here on page three he says, "Why doesn't Santa bring all the needy children toys? It's the same reason that Jesus doesn't feed them. Imaginary characters don't work that way." I think we can cut that bit out entirely, since that seems more suited to a Christmas thing. Actually, the entire section about the religious aspect of the event can probably be halved without missing anything too useful. And a page before that he said, "America needs to change. So put down the donkey and elephant finger puppets, turn off your TV and discover that rarely visited and highly underrated place called reality." I get that this all about an American event, but our audience is global and it feels a little out-of-place, I guess.'

'Long story short, is it going to be ready in time?'

'Of course. And Dimina's already written up her part in her personal Death Note, so it looks like we're fully on schedule. In any case, it's almost time. Alice, Tom, you two there?'

The two laptop screens on my desk light up, and a pair of familiar faces watch as I load several miniature smart bullets into my AR-15.

'Alice, before I do this… are you absolutely certain nothing can go wrong?'

'Affirmative. The samples of Death Note paper I injected into myself a month ago haven't decayed at all. If anything goes wrong, it'll be because of you.'

'Well thanks for the honesty I guess. The bullet's pretty small but it'll still be several times as painful as a wasp sting for each of them-'

'And with the smart bullets reprogrammed to target non-vital body parts, the chance you'll kill either of them is slim.'

'But there's a chance.'

'Yes. Just… don't think about it, okay?'

'I'll try not to. Of course, this isn't the first time I've wanted to shoot my brother. Katashi, the EMP grenades?'

'In position. The abandoned warehouse should be entirely within the blast radius.'

'Is "blast radius" the correct term here? I mean, it isn't really a bomb so…'

'Look, what matters is that it works. Let me see if the three of them are there yet…'

I whip out my phone, to be greeted by a text from Lauren.

'Chris is missing, can you find him?'

I quickly type up a reply.

'What, do you think I have him microchipped or something?'

'…Well, do you?'

'…Yeah, hang on.'

'Tom, where is he?'

'According to the tracker… he's on his way to the warehouse, should be there in three to five minutes. So go on, Indy, we don't have much time!'

Without accelerating into a full sprint I briskly walk out of the house and around the block with my assault rifle, leaning behind a tree diagonally across the road from the abandoned warehouse.

'This is Indy to Katashi. I'm in position.'

'Do you have a clear shot?'

'Yes. I can see all three of them. As predicted, Kallet isn't even showing up to this L case meeting.'

I can't say I don't feel bad about this. They seem happy without their memories, never having to worry about the entire world. But this has to be done.

'Okay, detonating EMP grenades in five, four…'

(Connor's POV, 16:14, September 5)

'Hey, Chris, you finally showed up! Lauren and I were getting-'

*WEIRD LOUD SOUND*

'Wha-'

*BANG* *BANG*

WHAT THE FUCK?! GET BEHIND A CRATE! THERE, I'M HIDDEN BUT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! WHO SHOT AT US?! I'M DEAD, I'M FUCKED, I'M-

'Hey, Connor, you can come out now.'

I very carefully peek around the corner. Indy, Lauren and Chris are quietly talking, the former with an assault rifle in her hands and the latter two with something red in their legs. Tiny gunshot wounds?!

'Indy? What the hell?'

'I know this must all be very confusing for you.'

'Yeah, why are you trying to kill us all of a sudden?'

'I'm not killing anyone. Just had to… reactivate these two.'

'Reactivate?!'

'Chris… it's good to have you back.'

'Yeah, me too. The plan's working, I assume?'

Plan?! What's he on about?!

'So far, yes. Now, let's see if you were right about Connor.'

'What about me?! What's going on?!'

'Connor, a few days ago you said, and I quote, "I'm not scared of Kira at all, I know he's just doing his best. If I knew who he was, I'd think of ways I could help him".'

'You guys are helping the Kiras?! Oh my god, that's awesome!'

'Not just helping…'

'You… holy shit… holy shit that's crazy! But then, why are you confessing to Luci right now?'

'I'm not. When the EMP grenades in here went off right before my sister started shooting, Luci went blind. Until we get changed into different clothing, he won't be able to see or hear a thing.'

'But… why did she shoot you two?'

'Each bullet contains fragments of Death Note paper, by shooting us she injected us with it so it's now permanently in contact with our bodies. So we can now permanently keep our memories-'

'Death Note? Seriously? Now I know you're bullshitting.'

'If you aren't convinced, let us show you a few things…'

'Even if all you're saying is true, why get shot just to have some paper injected into you two? Why not, I dunno, eat cupcakes that have scraps of paper baked into them?'

'It would just pass through their digestive systems and come out the other end, leaving us back at square one. This will keep it in them permanently.'

'Why not just inject it into them with syringes?'

'Because… we… didn't… think of that?'

'That's pretty dumb. If my sister were here she'd know how to fix up those wounds, but I don't have a clue.'

'Oh, right, Alice! Do you want to call her?'

'Wait, you're in contact with my sister? Can I speak to her, please?!'

'Sure…'

She takes out her phone, opens up an app I don't recognize and taps on something with my sister's face, before handing her phone over to me.

'Hello, is this…'

'Connor!'

'Alice, it's you! Oh my god, I've missed you so much! Where are you?'

'On a very important mission in St Louis.'

'St Louis, isn't that a suburb down near…'

'America.'

'Oh, that St Louis! Well, it looks like there's a lot to get me up-to-date on…'

'Connor, while you're being watched by Luci there isn't much you or the original Kiras can do, but I need to know, are you willing to join our team or not?'

'Yes, if you're in it and my friends are in it, then count me in too!'

'Great! I can't wait to come back when this mission is done. I really missed you, Connor. I'll return soon, I promise!'

'I look forward to it.'

'Anyway, I hate to cut things short but I gotta go now. Until then, bro.'

'Okay, see you soon sis! Bye!'

-Beep-

I hand the phone back to Indy. My little sister is okay. After more than a month I'm… I'm so fucking relieved I don't even know what to say.

Meanwhile, Chris starts tugging on his sister's sleeve.

'Come on, Indy, we need to get started on dinner. It's Tuesday, remember.'

'Actually, I got it prepared earlier. Let me see if mum liked it.'

She taps open her phone again, and I shuffle around behind the two of them out of curiosity to see the texts she's received.

This fish is so raw, it's still looking for its son!

You've put so much rose on here, the tenth doctor might come back to save her!

This mushy stuff is so chewy, it could co-pilot the millennium falcon!

'I'd say it sounds like you did above average.'
