A/N – Yes, it's been a while since I updated this, and this 'chapter' is short. Life has happened and I can't seem to get things done. As I've said, all the tracks are planned out so it WILL get finished.
10. Do I Love You?
Ianto doesn't know exactly what it is that he and Jack have. He knows it's more than just sex. But how much more? For him it's always been just Jack and Ianto is pretty positive that it's been the same on Jack's end.
When Jack was away with his doctor the first time, there had been no notice… no goodbyes. Ianto had been left wondering. Then when the captain returned, everything had changed between them. He'd asked Ianto out on a date and, albeit several weeks later, they'd actually done. It was some blockbuster sci-fi film that they'd both giggled at to the consternation of the guests around them, followed by a delicious dinner at a nice restaurant on the Plas.
And so it went. They'd go out on dates or stay in together. Jack became a regular fixture at Ianto's flat. They'd cook dinner in Ianto's kitchen or order takeaway. They'd have crazy sex in the bedroom or just as often lounge together on the couch watching a DVD.
But it could never be a normal relationship. Torchwood wouldn't allow that.
Jack was leaving again. There were daleks around the world… different planets hovering in the sky. Jack was going to find the doctor.
But this time it was different.
"I have to go." Jack said, hefting the gun in his arms. "I'll be back." He added with a grin.
Ianto stood steadfastly next to Gwen and returned the smile. "We'll be fine."
Jack pressed a button on his wrist strap and vanished.
Ianto knew that even though they never dared to use those three certain words, and would never proclaim it to the world, the meaning was the same.
Jack would come back and Ianto would be waiting for him.
