Legolas's POV
As we walked to report to Ada in the throne room, I couldn't help but think of possible offspring. The first one that came to mind was Tauriel. I didn't know her that well and it wasn't certain if she could lie and manipulate others as well as Tarion could.
However, she had the same odd, wavy, flaming red hair. The same hazel eyes, the same curious glint in them.
Even the same smile.
I shook my head. 'There was no way that Tauriel is Tarion's daughter.' I reasoned although deep down, I believed it.
Faron elbowed my arm. "Legolas. Take one for the team and report to the king." I sighed and answered, "You owe me."
I walked in, Ada sitting on his throne. His eyes slowly traced over to me. Nearly choking on my words, I spit them out quickly.
"A groups of orcs came with the mission to kill Tarion's bloodline. Captain Raindir and his squads were successful in killing the orcs." Ada seemed intrigued. "So Tarion betrayed the orcs too? That fool really outdid himself."
I nod along with him. "This means that his child is in danger-." I got cut off. Ada held up a hand. "We do not need another burden. You already took in Tauriel." I bit my tongue. "Yes, Ada."
As I walked out of the throne room, Faron and Raindir were waiting for me on the outside. "So it will be a forbidden quest?", Faron questioned, Reindeer elbowing his gut. "Shut up, Faron. His lordship needs not to get in more trouble."
"Legolas! Faron!", a childish voice exclaimed. We turned to see Tauriel waving to us, sitting atop of Dagnir's shoulders. A brown-haired elleth walked beside them. They looked like a complete family- maybe they could take in Tauriel.
Faron grinned at the red-haired elfling. "Hey, Tauriel!" She patted Dagnir's head as if to tell him to put her down. He kneeled a bit, the small red-head getting off, running over, hugging one of Faron's legs. "Guess what! Guess what! I made some friends!"
She dragged Faron away, talking about a class she went to. Dagnir followed behind her as if he was her father. The elleth laughed, bowing before me before running to catch up.
I chuckle a bit, Reindeer smirking. "I guess you did not realize that Dagnir and Duvaissel are not together-." I stare at him, shocked, "Wait-. What?"
[ One Hundred Years Later ]
Tauriel's POV
"Ada!", I call out, holding a few flowers. Dagnir turned around, smiling at me. "Tauriel! I thought you were out flower-picking with Eilianther." I laugh nervously. "Well, I found some really pretty flowers and Ramon found us- you know how much he likes her!"
Dagnir gave a closed eyed smile. "What about Byrion? He always looks at you with such a longing stare!" I gave him a pat on the back. "Good joke, Ada!" I continued to laugh as Dagnir raised his eyebrows before shrugging. Wait. Was he serious?
My face turned a bright shade of red.
"So! How is training going?", he asked, changing the subject. I shrug. "Well, Eilianther quit since she wants to become a healer and Ramon says he wants to become a merchant and venture to Dale." I chuckle. "It just sounds really stupid. His parents forced him into resuming training but all he does is make these little gifts for the love of his life!"
Dagnir patted my shoulder. "Dreams aren't bad to have, Tauriel. Neither is love."
"So anyway, Byron is like- really strong! He is really talented with the bow- I think it is all his time playing around with those perfect stitches."
He nodded understandingly. "What do you think of your teacher? Your final test is today, so you might as well get it out of your system." I thought about the captain. Dochanar was quite a cold and calculating kind of elf. Often, Ramon, Byron, and I often got in trouble whenever we would slack-off. Despite being strong, he was not a very good teacher.
"We learned a lot-."
Legolas's POV
Faron leaned against the wall, exhausted. "I have no idea how Dagnir does this! How did he raise Tauriel of all elflings and I can't handle a single kid!" I laugh a little at my friend. A several years ago, both him and Raindir had gotten married, having adopted a son who aspired to become a healer.
"My back is sore…", he continued to complain, my attention going elsewhere. Duvaissel was walking down the hall, a group of elfings following behind her. Several of them clutched woven baskets, others carrying objects one would take for a game of tag or ball. A flower crown of camellia hugged her head.
I look at Faron. "Isn't that Dagnir's wife?" The General looked as if he were gonna laugh. "It has been years! How many times do we need to tell you that Dagnir and Duvaissel are not lovers?"
After a long while of silence, Faron broke the silence by asking, "Do you remember the first time you met Tauriel? I heard that Dochanar is taking the trainees on their first expedition today as a final test."
I raised my eyebrow. "How long has their training been going anyway?" Faron shrugged. "I guess- like ten years?"
My friend laughed, patting my shoulder before getting grim. "It has been nearly a hundred years and we still haven't found Tarion's offspring." I paused before nodding my head slowly. "The leads have led to nowhere. I have a certain suspect but I have watched her for most of her life."
Faron stared at me. "I get you are single, Legolas, but stalking an elleth you like?" I pinch the bridge of my nose. "No! Why would I stalk Tauriel?!"
He gasped slightly. "Tauriel? Why would you ever suspect Tauriel?" Legolas shrugged a little. "I don't know. She just… reminds me of him." Faron nodded as he replied, "True. Tauriel does represent him in numerous ways."
"If only we had saved her village in time. We could have questioned her parents.", I sighed, crossing my arms.
"I have an idea that you may not like…"
Tauriel's POV
I walked over to Byrion, looking around for Ramon. "Byrion? Where is Ramon?", I questioned, tapping the black-haired ellon's shoulder. "Ramon quit earlier today. I think he is packing to go on a journey or some weird stuff."
"Ah. So he is running away?"
"Probably. He is honestly the type to get banished anyway."
A chuckle left my lips before I resumed proper composer as Dochanar arrived. "Listen up, trainees. You are going to go scout the forest in squads as your final test. Come back here at sunset. If you encounter any orcs or spiders, come reporting back to me. As a safety precaution, we will be using proper weapons."
"Now. I will be announcing the squads.", he called out. Byrion and I glanced at each other for a bit before looking back at the teacher.
"Melrion, Tauriel, Byrion, and Caldaer.", he stated as I learned my team. Melrion was a rather odd ellon despite having light brown hair combed to perfection and the most beautiful green eyes. Calder was a simple fellow, as short, chestnut-brown hair curled against his face, bringing out wondrous bright brown eyes. Of course Caldaer was Duvaissel's brother. How else would any two elves look so similarly perfect.
"Now. Your test begins.", Dochanar called out. My squad eventually found each other as we entered the woods.
Little did I know of what was to come.
What is Faron's plan? How will they find out that Tauriel is Tarion's daughter? What will happen to Melrion, Tauriel, Byrion, and Caldaer? Will Dagnir finally get some guts and ask for Duvaissel's hand in marriage? Find out in future chapters!
