Chapter 7
Separate ways
I woke up with a growl as our alarm went off and I could hear Masa grumble angrily at being woken up by the shrill device.
Begrudgingly I got out of bed and stopped the alarm as Grace herself sat up in her own bed with a yawn. "Good morning Saber." She said while stretching.
"Morning to you Grace." I said as I sat back on my bed and pulled off my pajama top and neatly folded it before doing the same with my bottom. Quickly I got dressed into my traveling clothing.
"Come on, the boys are probably waiting for us." I said as I slung my bag over my shoulder and picked up Masa.
"Right then, let's get going before they die of old age." She said with a chuckle.
I smiled at that and opened our room door. Quickly we headed downstairs into the lobby we're the boys were waiting and eating breakfast.
We waved before getting our own breakfast and joined them at the table. "Morning guys, hope you're ready for today."
"Definitely, we're really excited to go through Mt.Moon, it's one of the best places in the world to get a Clefairy."
"No! Not one of those demons!" I cried dramatically with a fearful shiver causing the others to laugh.
"If anyone runs into one it would be Saber of all people, the one that despises fairy types." Gary said with a smirk.
"Not funny!" I said as I got him on the head.
"Ow! Ok, ok I get it no more talk of fairy types." He said as he tinderly rubbed his head. We all laughed at that.
"Gary this is a good chance to find a moon stone though so you can evolve your Nidoran."
"It's Nidorina now and I was thinking the same, I'm hoping to find two though so I can get a Nidoking eventually too." He said.
"Nice! I'm guessing she evolved in the gym battle, what about Squirtle?" Grace asked curiously.
"Not yet, but I can tell he's really close to evolving, hopefully another battle or two and he will. What about you guys?"
Grace and Trevor shook their heads, "were in the same boat as you." They said together doing their creepy twin thing.
"At least your pokemon are close to evolving." I said as I glanced to the floor where Masa was eating. He still had a ways to go before he evolved and the same went for Darya.
"You'll get there eventually Saber and remember slow evolutions are part of being a dragon type." Trevor said as he took a drink.
"Your right but I feel like I'm being left behind, I won't be able to do the water gym yet or even when I get there I'll have to train like crazy to get them ready for the battle." I sighed, it was going to be difficult, neither of my Pokémon were effective against water type but at least Darya didn't have such a big disadvantage as Masa.
"Masa will be my biggest problem, his attacks won't do much damage and the water types can easily keep their distance and dive under to dodge all the attacks he can use." I said as I looked down at my partner, he had stopped eating and was now staring at me with his bold and challenging eyes like he was telling me we could do it.
I looked back at my friends and they all seemed to be deep in thought. Being the good friends they are they were definitely thinking of a way to help me with my problem.
After a few moments Graces eyes lit up and she picked up her bag and began digging through it. "I know it's in here somewhere." She said as she dug through and after a moment her eyes lit up and she pulled out a small clear case with a small disk inside.
"My mom gave me this because she knew I was getting Thorn but he can actually learn this move naturally so I don't really need it." She said as she handed it to me.
I examined it for a moment before my eyes went wide. "Grace! I can't take this, Technical Machines are expensive as is but this? With its power it's got to cost a lot."
"It's fine like I said Thorn learns the move naturally. Think of it as a gift for starting your journey." She said with a bright smile.
"Mind telling us what attack it is, you two are confusing us." Trevor said.
"Well it's the Technical Machine for Solar-Beam." I said as I glanced at Trev
"Can a Trapinch learn it?" Gary asked curiously.
"I guess we'll find out." I said as I pulled out my Pokédex and typed in Trapinch and selected possible moves and there I scrolled. "Yep it's in the dex so Masa can learn it. It will definitely come in handy but because it takes time to charge it will be a last resort for the water gym." I said as I put my Pokédex back into my pocket.
"Well then now you'll have a long ranged attack that goes farther than scorching sand, speaking of that have you got it down?" Gary said, we had practiced a few times in Viridian forest and he had done the attack once or twice with success.
"Three out of five times he gets it, I know that it's not perfect but we'll get there." I said with a smile.
"Well it's a new move so it will take awhile to master but I'm glad he's getting it down." Gary said.
"So Trev what about you, are you going with Pidgeotto and Poliwag?" Grace asked her brother.
"I'm not to sure, I used Charmander and Pidgeotto against Brock but I don't think Charmander should go against water typs so it might end up as Poliwag and Pidgeotto unless I get another Pokémon with better type advantage."
"Well Trev if you want an advantage then you need a grass type or an electric type." Gary explained.
"Yea I know and you can't be talking, we're in the same boat." Trev said with a challenging spark in his eyes.
"Well actually I was think of teaching Nidorina thunder or Thunderbolt, it will depend on what I find at the stores or online." Gary said with a challenging smile.
"Well Gary, Trev could get a T M for thunder-punch for his charmander." I said smiling at the boys.
"Ha! You see that I might be able to use Charmander!" Trevor said in victory.
A wicked smile formed on my face, "but remember you can only buy technical records at certain stores or online and technical Machines online or you actually have to find them from a collector and they're pretty expensive."
Immediately Trevor and Gray crouched down together with an anime depressive air acorns them.
"We'll be broke if we actually found them." Gary cried
"I don't want to be poor!" Trevor sniffed sadly.
I couldn't help but burst into laughter along with Grace. "I.. hahaha, think we broke them! Haha!"
After a few moments I calmed down, "don't worry boys, mane if you beat up enough trainers you'll have enough by the time we reach Cerulean City."
That seemed to cheer them up because they both turned around and held each other's hands, fingers intertwined and they cried.
"Well do this together! We'll beat up all the bug catchers and hikers!" Trevor cried dramatically.
"We'll destroy all the school kids and rich boys! Take them all out!" Gary cried with him.
"My god what have I created." I muttered to Grace with a shake of my head, they were absolutely ridiculous.
"Monsters, monsters that will beat all the poor bug catchers, stupid rich boys, annoying shchool kids and bothersome hikers. There will be nothing left for us when we go after them." She said with a sigh.
"Ok you two off the floor and get yourselves together." I said in amusement.
After that dramatic moment we quickly finished up our food then headed out to say goodbye to Gary and Trevor.
We walked out together than continued to the edge of the city.
"You two take care now and no beating up innocent bug catchers and school kids on the road." Grace said
"Definitely not promising that." They said.
"Stay safe and don't get into stupid." I added.
"No guarantees!" The started walking off
"By, we'll see you at Cerulean!" We yelled and waved and they turned and waved back.
