Chapter 8

Precious stones and Battles won

With both Trevor and Gary gone, me and Grace headed off into the city, we didn't really want to battle first thing in the morning so I decided to get my rock checked out while Grace on the other hand headed off to go look at the clothing shops and the many jewelry shops.

I firstly headed back to the Pokémon center and went back to mine and Grace's room which we would be checked into for another day. Inside I shrugged off my bag and placed it on my bed then I called out Masa.

He swiftly appeared in a bright flash and he glanced around curiously. With him out I pulled out my stone and I quickly inspected it. Masa's bit mark was easy to see and when I flipped it over I noticed that it must have broken a piece off because the bite mark from his bottom jaw was revealed as a glistening gem. It was mostly clear with a mix of black and soft brown fog to it.

"Masa could you please clear away all the stone on this gently." I said as I presented it to him. Gingerly took it and I watched as he slowly applied pressure to the stone. Slowly the stone shell began to crumble and break off until all of it was off revealing a large gem. In the middle was a recognizable mark. In the middle was a large swirl of solid black and red with bits of dark orange mixed in.

It wasn't a key stone but a mega stone. I wasn't sure of what it was but I had a faint idea. I picked it up and put it into my bag, "Thanks Masa, now we just have to get it cut, I bet one of the rock shops here has a cutter willing to do that."

With that I returned Masa and left the room. I headed straight to Main Street where all the main shops would be. I quickly glanced around and found a nice shop called Ricks Rocks and I went inside.

The place was filled with beautiful gems and stones, some carved and cut and others in their natural form. They also had a few evolutionary stones, I saw a sun stone, a shiny stone, water, fire and thunder stones and lots of leaf stones.

I could spend all day in the shop if I wanted and I was here on business so I quickly went to the counter where a man was polishing a fire stone.

"Excuse me sir do you have a moment?" I spoke up grabbing his attention.

"Ahh yes how may I help you young lady?" He asked as he looked at me with deep blue eyes.

"I'm actually here to see if I can get a piece of stone cut."

The man gave me a surprised look. "I usually don't cut gems for people… what are you looking to get cut?"

I smiled and took my bag off and pulled out the stone. His eyes lit up and he leaned over to inspect the gem. "Did think I'd ever see one of these again but this one is a bit different in color." He said.

"You've seen one before?" I asked stunned.

"Yep, a young man came to me about ten years ago with one but it was almost rainbow in the middle and a DNA like mark in the middle. Here could you hand it to me, I'd like to take a closer look." He said as he held his hand out.

I hesitated for a moment but handed it to him and he pulled it close to his glasses. He slowly turned it and smiled, "I'll tell ya what kid, I'll cut it for you but you have to let me study it for a bit." He said as he looked at me for confrontation.

"Ok you have a deal."

The man smiled wider and we shook hands. "How do you want it cut?"

'Usually their cut round but can they be in different shapes? I was a bit Pokémon geek and I actually read about them but I never saw anything that said they had to be spherical in shape'

"Surprise me sir, when do you think I can pick it up." I said finally, I guess I would find out soon.

"You can come by tomorrow morning to pick it up."

"Ok thanks." I said as I was about to turn but I stopped, "also do you have the name of the man that had the stone similar to mine?"

The man looked thoughtful for a moment then he took out a book from under the counter and began flipping through it. After a few moments he stopped. "Yes his name was Riker Lark of Celadon City."

"Thank you sir, I'll be taking my leave then now." I said before taking my leave. With that done I headed out to the gym to wait for Grace. By the time I got to the gym it was twelve in the morning and I waited for a good hour before grace appeared.

"Hey looking good Grace!" I said as she came up to me. She had her auburn hair in a French Braid with a white ribbon braided into it. She also now wore a bright white blouse with black swirling details. Over her blouse she had a red long sleeved dress shirt that had silver buttons and she had red shorts with white leggings and black boots.

"Thanks! I worked hard on this but I also got you an outfit!" She said as she waved a bag at me.

"What! I don't need new clothes!"

"Yes you do! You look like a boy and it's a shame to hide your beauty!"

I groaned, there was no use fighting with her. "Fine but only because you bought it and I don't want it to go to waste." I grumbled.

"Yes! You'll wear it tomorrow!" She said with an excited jump.

I rolled my eyes at that and gave a nod, "sure now let's go, I've got a gym battle waiting for me."

I quickly stood up and together we walked into the gym. Walking in you came right into the battlefield and bleachers.

"Hello! Is anyone here?" I called out causing a slight echo.

I waited for a moment then I heard a door open and a boy peered at us from around a corner. "Aye you guys gym challengers?" He asked from across the building.

"I'm here to challenge the gym but my friend is just watching." I answered back.

"Ok I'll go get my brother, in the meantime you friend can take a seat and you can take your side of the field!" He said before disappearing around the corner.

I glanced at Grace and she nodded before going to the bleachers and took a seat while I stepped forward onto the battlefield in my sides trainer box.

I was waiting for a good five minutes before the boy appeared around a corner along with Brock, Brock quickly took his spot on the battlefield while the boy ran to the referee box.

"So you're here to battle my gym, in guessing this is your first battle."

I gave a nod, "I'm Sabian Volkova from Pallet town, you are my first gym battle." I said introducing myself right away.

"You're the fifth person I've had from Pallet town, all the others were very impressive. I look forward to our battle."

'Fifth that means either Leon or Lira hasn't challenged along with Ash of course.'

The boy seeing Brock done with talking raised two flags. "This will be a two on two battle between Brock the gym leader and the challenger Sabian of Pallet town. In this battle the gym leader is unable to substitute Pokémon but the challenger can, when either sides Pokémon are unable to battle the battle will be over are we clear!" The boy announced and he glanced at us.

We both gave a nod, "then lest the battle begin!" He shouted as he lowered the flags.

"Geodude! Let's rock and roll!" Brock shouted as the rock Pokémon appeared on the field.

"Masa aid me at the battlefront!" I called out as Masa formed with a snap of his jaws.

"You as the challenger have the first move." Brock said.

I gave a short nod, "Masa start up with Laser Focus!" Masa gave a low grumble and his body had a slight glow just barely noticeable.

"Geodude use tackle!"

The rock Pokémon immediately went into action and charged forward at Masa.

"Masa use Mud-Slap"

Masa opened his jaws wide and spit a ball of mud into the eyes of the charging rock type dealing a critical. Sadly it was too late to make the Pokémon miss and he rammed into masa pushing him back a foot or two.

"Geodude use defense-curl!" Brock called out. The Pokémon quickly drew its arms into itself and the a metallic sheen flashed over it.

"Masa use bite and grab ahold of it!" I commanded. Masa quickly attacked it and latched his jaws onto the rock Pokémon's arm where a clampdown like a vice grip. The rock type tried to pull away but masa swung his head slamming the Pokémon into the ground below and released it.

"Geodude tackle once again!"

Geodude now in close proximity slammed into Masa. The ant pit Pokémon skidded a couple of feet before he gained his footing.

"Masa Scorching-Sand!"

Immediately Masa opened his jaws and his mouth glowed a soft orange and he took aim before hot sand shot from his maw hitting the rock Pokémon leaving small burns."

"Geodude Rock throw!" The rock Pokémon picked up and chucked a small rock at Masa hitting him but thankfully it was a rock type attack and didn't do much damage.

"Masa Laser focus once again!"

"Geodude Tackle!"

Once again the rock type charged at Masa but this time there was a good distance between them and the Pokémon was still had a bit of mud in its eyes reducing the accuracy a bit so Masa seeing the attack tucked and rolled to the side easily dodging the attack as the burned rock type passed him.

'Masa I'm counting on you to do this once more, I know you can do it' I said to myself. "Masa end this with Scorching-Sand!" I called out. Once again Masa opened his jaws and they glowed slightly as hot sand shot at the rock type getting a critical. I watched in satisfaction as the rock Pokémon fell to the ground unconscious.

"Geodude is unable to battle!" The boy announced.

"Geodude, return and get a good rest." Brock said as he recalled his Pokémon. "I'm impressed, your Trapinch is very well trained."

"Thanks, me and Masa have been working hard."

Brock nodded and then tossed another pokeball into the air. "Onix your up next." He said as the rock snake appeared with a roar.

"Masa it's Darya's turn!" I called out to my partner, causing to look back at me. He obviously didn't want to stop fighting but I could see he was tired and I knew once his Adrenaline ran out he would feel the hurt and exhaustion. We glared at each other for a moment before he gave a growl and begrudgingly walked back to me.

"You did great Masa but let's have Darya finish up." With tat I grabbed her pokeball and released her onto the Field where she formed with a trumpet of excitement.

"Begin!" The boy announced telling us we could start once again.

"Darya use smokescreen then follow up with water gun!" I called out.

Darya gave a trumpet once more then a thick black inky smoke shot from her maw engulfing her and the rock snake.

"Onix find it and use bide!"

I could easily hear the rock snake shift and move in it's search and I also heard water hitting its target in the smoke but I couldn't see it. After a few moments I headed Darya crie out.

"Darya use twister!"

At my command I could see the smoke wove and twist as it was drawn into the twister of air and soon a large black twister was formed and slammed into Onix causing him to drop Darya and cry out.

"Onix use tackle!"

With an angry roar Onix slammed into Darya sending her flying back where she landed and rolled a few times before she stopped and after a moment she had her balance on her tail.

"Ok Darya let's give it our all, Use water gun!"

Darya gave a trumpet before she shot a strong water gun and it hit the rock snake dealing a critical and with the help of her ability snipe her critical was far more powerful than the average critical and I watched in amazement as the rock snake crashed down onto the field.

"Onix is unable to battle so the winner of this match is Sabian of Pallet town!" The ref announced as he raised a flag towards me.

"You did it! You both did it!" I said as Darya hopped towards me and I scooped her up into my arms along with Masa which was a bit of an arms full. After a good minute I let them go and pulled out their pokeballs. "You both did great, now get a good rest." I said as I recalled them.

"You did a great job Sabian, I can tell you've raised your Pokémon well. Anyway as Gym leader it's my job to give you your badge as proof of winning against me so here is your Boulder Badge." Brock said as he walked to me and stopped with his hand out towards me. In his hand was a small silver badge.

Gingerly I took the badge into my own hand and I quickly took off my bag and pulled out my badge case. Gently I placed the silver badge into the case before I put the case back into my bag. With it now safe I faced Brock.

"Thanks you for the battle." I said with a slight bow of my head which he returned. With that I turned and ran to Grace who was waiting for me with a bright smile.

"We did it Grace! Now we're both one step closer to the league!" I said as we hugged each other in excitement before we separated.

"Come on let's get something to eat to celebrate." She said and I nodded.

Another chapter done and posted! Thank you all so much reading this far once again, I'm glad there are people out there that can understand my bad writing but anyway 39 followers as the time I post this and that's one step towards having enough followers to dominate the world! It's still a long way but one day we will dominate the world and no one will be able to stop us!
