Chapter 10
Training
I must say that traveling is boring, boring beyond belief and your feet hurt like hell with all the walking. I mean seriously in my other life travling didnt look so bad in the pokemon anime but then who is going to watch ash walk for hours in silence or bickering with his friends about stupid things.
Grace and I have been walking for hours with only small breaks, we've been on and off with conversation and now here i find myself so bored that i'm thinking about what Wither is thinking because he is bordly trudging alongside me in my misery.
"What I would give right now to have a pokemon I could ride!"
"I know right, i think my feet are going to fall off at this point." Grace groaned miserably.
"Why don't we set up for the night? I know its a bit early but at this point my feet are going to fall off."
"Sure, I'll cook any you can set the sleeping bags out, it's warm enough where we shouldn't have to have the tents." She said as we started to walk off the main path. Grace led the way till she found a spot that looked decently clear and we got to work. My job was simple so I quickly finished.
With my job done I pulled out my two pokeballs. "Come on guys! Meet your new teammate!."
With two red flashes Masa and Darya formed, Masa with a snap of his jaws and Darya with a trumpet.
"Guys I want you to meet your new team mate Wither, Wither this is Masa and Darya." I said glancing between the three. Masa seemed indifferent to Wither, instead the ant pit pokemon gave a grumble at me. Darya on the other hand was glaring daggers at the dark fire type who was returning the look in kind. After a moment Darya gave a snort and turned her snout upward.
"Wither, Darya please behave. Now i've called you out for more than introductions, we're on our way to the next gym and we have a lot of work to do to prepare for the battle. Now first up is you Darya." I said to the water type.
"Darya you need improvement of your long range attacks and your speed, our next gym will be a water gym and those water types are sure to be swift moving in the water we want to make sure you can keep up. For this I want you practicing with Wither. Wither you both are going to play tag, Darya will use water gun to hit you and you must dodge and in turn you have to use Ember and she must dodge. Do you understand?" I asked them both.
They looked at eachother and I could see their determination to beat each other. "Alright go over there and stay in sight… also don't go overboard." I said as I pointed to my left where they could train and not bother the camp. They both gave a nod and made their way to the spot I indicated so I turned to Masa who was looking at me expectantly.
"Masa, it's me and you, as a ground type you'll struggle in this gym so you need to learn at least one move even if it's a last resort or not." I said as I took off my bag and pulled out the T M. I gently took the disk and used it on Masa (I have no clue on how to explain the process, I've seen most people can't either.)
With the T M used and now useless I put it back into my bag then pulled out my pokedex where I scanned Masa who seemed a little confused.

Moves: Astonish, Laser focus, Bite, Mud-Slap, Scorching Sand, dig, Solarbeam
Egg Moves: Quick Attack, Gust
Note: egg moves have yet to be unlocked
"Well it says you know the move, i guess we'll give it a try then." I said to my starter. Together we walked to the edge of camp opposite of Wither and Darya.
"Ok Masa, I want you to use Solar beam."
Masa being a trapinch wasn't able to make many facial expressions but I could see a slight shine of anticipation in his little black eyes. With my command he seemed to concentrate and i waited a good few minutes before he opened his maw and green particles started to form a small green ball a few inches out of his maw. But the little green ball wasn't there for long because with a small flash it exploded on the ant pokemon.
"Masa!" I quickly rushed to his side as he steadied himself in a foot wide hole in the ground. I quickly picked him up and examined him, thankfully he only had only a few scrapes and bruises from the small explosion. With his health confirmed I placed him back down and rubbed his head.
"You up for another try Masa?"
The ant pit pokemon snapped his jaws and stepped a few paces forward making a little distance with me and he once again concentrated before opening his jaws and collecting the solar energy into a small ball but just like before it exploded on Masa. The ant pit pokemon was very determined and continued with the same results until I finally called it off.
"Masa, that's enough, you're hurt and tired." I called out as I approached my panting partner. He looked up at me and glared before turning away. I sighed and grabbed him where he struggled to get free.
"Enough Masa!" i yelled angrily causing him to freeze, after a moment he hesitantly turned his head to face me and I could see his frustration with himself and me.
"Masa I see you're frustrated but you've got to stop, you'll get nowhere if you collapse from exhaustion and hurt yourself to the point you have to turn in for a few days."
Masa glared obviously not agreeing with me. "Look we've got a lot of time to get this right so we haven't a need to rush, if we do rush we'll never get it so take a breath and rest a moment so later we can practice a bit."
Masa seemed hesitant but he gave a begrudging nod so I carried him over to where Wither and Darya were. Both pokemon were tired and a little beat um, especially Wither but i had expected it, he wasn't only a dark type but also a fire type so even a little water gun did a good amount of damage.
That was the point though, Houndour also needed to get faster, I had already decided speed and special attack would be his build especially if I had what I had then training him now in that area was the best bet.
Darya was on a similar path but i wasn't going to focus on speed, instead she would specialize in health and Special attack. For now though I wanted to build up a base in her speed and when I am satisfied we'd focus more on her health and special attack.
Finally my plans for Masa. Because he's a trapinch I can't really work much with speed till he evolves but attack was different. We would work on that and soon I will start EV training him and the other two.
I gave a sigh, I had lots to do to get them ready for the elite four and Lance. I also planned on partaking in the Indigo League but that wasn't too important to me. Winning the tournament did not make you a champion but it did get you some status but I wanted more, I wanted to Rip Lance from his throne and show him the power I had.
I shook my head to clear the thoughts away, I didn't need to stress over it all just yet. With that I gave a sharp whistle drawing Darya and Withers attention. "That's enough for you two, lets get some rest and eat."
Wither seemed glad it was over for he immediately padded to my side and took his place next to me while Darya hoped along towards graces pokemon how had gathered, waiting to be fed by their trainer.
Grace still had only her three pokemon. Thorn a large Bulbasaur who looked like he was a hair away from evolving. Then there was petal her shiny Butterfree who was looking as beautiful as ever and finally Tora her female Pikachue.
Grace looked at me from her cooking and smiled, "foods about done so why don't you call your team in before they destroy the forest.
I rolled my eyes before giving a sharp whistle. Immediately Darya and Wither stopped and came to me, both were exhausted and they didn't seem to have the energy to even glare at each other. The two tired pokemon joined the rest and Grace and I gave them their share of food before feeding ourselves.
After dinner we both cleaned up the dishes and then headed to bed after talking about our plans for the next day.
