Sitting down in the infirmary, allow one of the SHIELD Agents to attend to your injury which you had received from assisting Spider-Man, Flash Thompson aka Agent Venom, and the Hulk in the apprehending of The Rhino aka Alex or Alexander O'Hirn a previous student from Midtown High, turned into a large hulking humanoid rhinoceros after ingesting a vial of animal serum he stole from Oscorp. Which permanently transformed into his current form.
Your uncle sent you, to help bringing smarts and craftiness to the rough housing of brawl between the guys. You tired to reason with Alex, which ended up with you getting injured, though luckily it was not bad. Just a contusion on your forearm and leg, as well sprain in your wrist but nothing really bad. Still injuries, which would take some time heal, but that did not mean you could not still be active. Going over your now wrapped up injuries, double checking for your uncle. With everything checked out, you where free to go.
Getting off the table, landing on your injured ankle, the pain shot up. Almost you almost stumble if not for the person who caught you. Looking up, it was Iron Fist. He holds onto you firmly, looking you over worried to make you where in fine.
"I'm fine..."you reassure him.
He gives you one last quick look, before helping you up. Shaking your injured ankle just a bit, you stand right up just fine.
Iron Fist takes hold of your forearm gently. Observing it. Though he knew you where alright still did not ease the young monk. Holding your hand in his. He takes off his mask."You shouldn't take things to lightly."
Knowing what he meant by that, a bit of anger filled your eyes hiding your own pain of sadness. He saw this, this whole transition was still new for you, even after you came back. And with the amount of training you went through to help give you, what you lacked now and to contain the rest. Iron Fist could see how much it angered you greatly.
Sighing, he could not fully understand what you yourself where going through. But that did not stop him from being there for you, supporting you throughout the whole ordeal. He takes your other hand, squeezing it sympathetically. Making you look up at him, he gives you a understand smile, you where about to smile when you both hear someone come in. Quickly you both let go of the others hand, Iron Fist puts his mask back on, and steps away from you just a few inches.
Popping his head in, Spider-Man was a bit shocked to Iron Fist in here. Expecting no one really, but he plays it off scratching the back of his head awkwardly. While holding something behind his back. There was a bit of uncomfortable tension in the air, if he had a collar Spider-Man would be pulling at it by now.
Behind his mask, he looks from Iron Fist to you. Wondering why, but pushes that back behind him. When he heard you address him, asking if needed something.
Looking back to you. He points to himself."Oh...well...I just came to check up on you. After well...you know."he mumbles the last part. You look to Iron Fist who looks to you confused by his incoherent words. Turning back to the teen, you finally walks over to you taking off his mask he hands you, what he had behind his back.
A small bouquet of colorful flowers, which surprised you. Sheepishly he smiles at you."Here..."
Touched by his token, inside you felt yourself sink. Though outside, not wanting to rude, and since you did find them lovely. Take them from him, sniffing them. You thank him with a warm smile.
"Thank you, they are lovely."you tell him.
Seeing your reaction relaxed Peter."I know you would!"he explodes thrilled, realizing this, he coughs and says it again calmly. He nervously scratches the back of his head. Thumbing over his shoulder."So...ummm...I was wondering if maybe...I mean..."
Realizing where he going with this, you stop him from talking."I think we should...all head back to class."you tell him, and quickly walk passed him with regret on your face. Iron Fist follows you the same time as Spider-Man, making the two almost collide with one another.
"Oh, sorry."Spider-Man apologizes to Iron Fist, who smiles at him. And allows the web head to go ahead.
Outside in the hall, Spider-Man looks around for you but did not see you. Bummed that he missed his chance, Iron Fist comes behind him looking around quickly for you as well. But did not see you either. Wondering where you went, sliding his eyes over to Spider-Man, feeling a knot in his stomach but still kept his calm composure, excusing himself Iron Fist walks off to the next class. Spider-Man does one last look, with no sign of you he goes to the next class.
Class with the Whizzer started, everyone was in their seats everyone except you. Spider-Man looks around wondering where you ran off to. Power Man saw the his distracted friend. Before the lecture started, he gets the web heads attention.
"What's on your mind?"he question.
Spider-Man looks at Power Man."Nothing...nothing at all."
Raising an eyebrow, Power Man didn't believe it but decided not to pressure it. Turning back to the front of the class, the Whizzer starts up class. With everyone on their holocomputers, you still did not come into class. Starting to worry the bug head, wondering if he was to forward with you or maybe your injuries where still not as good as you put it. Thinking back to the battle with Rhino, he did happen to notice your moves as you fought, he didn't see you use any of your powers at all. Which he knew would have easily subdued the ragging mutant. But you didn't bother to use it.
He thought maybe you where trying something new, not wanting to rely on your powers so much. Yeah, that had to be it, thinking it was that when he felt something was a miss inside him about that. Brushing it back in his mind, he noticed Rhino was looking in the empty that you had the row infront of him. Looking closer, Spider-Man saw the sorrow and guilt Rhino had on his hard face. Feeling eyes on him, Rhino turns and looks at Spider-Man. He grunts looking away.
Curios as to why Rhino acted like that. But left it alone, when Whizzer called upon the bug head asking what was more important than today's lesson. Which caused everyone's eyes to fall upon him. Tongued tied, Spider-Man freezes with not witty remark.
It was break or lunch now and still no sign of you. In the lunch room Spider-Man looks around for any sign of you, he again noticed Rhino also seeming looking around for you as well. Curios as to why, he inches his way over to the big guy. Startling him in a some way.
"Hey! Don't sneak up on me."Rhino snarls at him for a second.
"Sorry."Spider-man apologizes to him."So, whatchaya looking for?"
Rhino stiffs up, looking away, noticing the tight grip upon his tray. Spider-man saw it was something on his mind. Worried now about to say something, Rhino sighs long and hard."I...just wanted to make sure...Kylie was alright..."he mumbles a bit, he then scratches the side of his cheek."After what...I did...and to thank...her."
"Oh."Spider-man saw the regret on his face. He had been carrying this around for sometime now. Smiling under his mask at the change of heart and care Rhino was showing ever since he came here. Feeling eyes upon him Rhino turns to him, grunting embarrassed. Spider-man heartily chuckles lowly, with a friendly pat on his shoulders. Which seem to ease the big guy.
Embarrassed still, Rhino just grunts. Looking up still not seeing any sign of you. Slumping down giving up any sort of chance of him apologizing to you. Thinking about you as well, though seeing how Rhino was Spider-man turns to him."Hey, why don't we eat now. Next class tells me, we might want to let our food settle."
Looking to the hero, Rhino nods his head agreeing. Following him, the two take a seat with Agent Venom, Power Man and Squirrel Girl. Lifting up his mask just to his nose, Spider-man starts to eat, while Power Man talks joking with everyone. Though he laughs at it, Spider-man's mind was still on you. Wondering where you had gone off to, he also noticed that Iron Fist not around either. Assuming he was just mediating like always, so he paid no mind to his absence. But yours kept stained on his mind.
After lunch, everyone was called into one of the training rooms. Where Fury was there, looking around Spider-Man spots Iron Fist had return along with you. Relived to see you where alright, he slowly inches his way over to you, hoping that Fury did not spot him. Not paying any attention to what Fury had to say nor noticing who came in, that is until he almost got hit with one of Black Widow's stingers. Stopping in his tracks, the web head throws his hands up in panic turning to the spy. Who was not the least bit amused by his actions. Seeing she had his attention, she finishes talking, calling you up to the front to demonstrate what everyone would be doing.
Doing as she said, everyone watches you. Standing a few feet away from her, she turns her attention to everyone."Always be ready for anything unexpected, your adversary will always have a trick or two up their sleeve. Keep a clear mind, and stay focused, once you lose focus. You lose everything. Be mindful, at times you might just a split second to make your move either to escape or finish. Get in get out. Plain and simple...again..."she unexpectedly turns to you, and fires her stingers, which surprised everyone. Quickly you manage to dodge her attack. She kept her fire up on you, pushing you back or so it seemed.
Seeing an opening, you duck down jumping up all at once, holding in your core spinning around to strike her. But she saw you coming a mile away. Countering it, by grabbing hold of your wrist, she throws you. But to her surprise, you grab hold of her wrist just as quickly, taking her off guard. Landing on your feet, and thrust her over you. Throwing her, which being the best spy there is quickly regains herself. She smirks at you with pride and thrill.
Focused, you didn't let your guard down. Seeing she was about to move, you charge at her. Her smirk became bigger, when you realized she had an ace up her sleeve. But it was to late, the second you try to stop she presses something on her gauntlet.
Before you knew what was happening, small floating droids came out at least four and shot electricity at you. Luckily you manage to avoid it, but they did not let up, they kept on you in a hot purist. Making you run, while trying to avoid them.
Black Widow turns to the others, pressing her gauntlet, as more droids came out followed by SHEILD'S Life Model Decoy robots, that changed into different villains, surrounding everyone."Now, like I said before. Move quick and fast, expect the unexpected."pressing her gauntlet again, the droids attack along with the robots.
Everyone moves out the way just in time, Widow steps back watching the class. Pressing her gauntlet once again another surprise comes, the floor shifted.
"Whoa!"Nova takes to the air. He looks to you."HEY! KYLIE..."he gets your attention, which you give him after you manage to kick one of the mini droids back into the wall. Looking to him, he gestures with his thumb upward.
Which caused you to freeze for a second. Nova waited for you take to the air like him, when he noticed how you looked. He questions himself when, he sees you distracted, he yells to warn you, diving down to save you. Hearing his warning yell, you turn around seeing the Life Model Decoy robot as the Destroyer come charging at you. You freeze, during that split second, which was not a good idea. Telling your feet to move, which they became lead.
Iron Fist who managed to knock back his attacker, heard Nova scream for you. Turning he sees you, had not moved. Frozen with fear he could see it. Finishing off one more, he races to you. Spider-Man also heard Nova's panic screams, he turns and sees you.
"KYLIE!"he shoots his web and swings to you, noticing the droids flying to you getting ready and release electricity on you. Hearing that sound, you turn around, your heart thumping hard. Forgetting everything, putting up your arms to block the incoming attack.
Expecting an attack, instead you hear a aggressive roar as something heavy jumps behind you and like an armadillo covers you taking the attack. They held you carefully, like a piece of china. Smelling the huskiness, and feeling the hard muscles and roughness of their skin. You knew that all to well. With a swing of their mighty forearm, roaring bashing the Life Model Decoy to pieces also destroying the floating droids.
Coming up still in their protective hold, you find Rhino aka Alex. With a snarl on, looking at the robots to make sure they where really down. Snorting he turns back to you, his look changes to a embarrassed apologetic. Realizing how he was holding you, he lets you go.
"..."he looks away from you."A...are you alright?"he asks, finally looking at you.
Seeing how he just took the blow for you, without a second thought and the way he looked. You smile at him, placing a hand on his arm."Thank you."he flinches from your delicate touch. Looking away sheepishly.
Sractching the back of his head, he swallows hard. Finally looking at you."S-sorry...for what..."
Seeing he was trying to apologize, you brush it aside."It's alright..."He was surprised at how you did not hold it against him. Smiling at him, patting his arm.
He smiles back."Kylie!"Spider-Man lands down next to you, just at the sametime Iron Fist and Nova came."Are you ok?"He holds you by your shoulders, making Iron Fist stand down. Looking at him quickly then to Spider-Man, who waited for your answer.
Discarding what you wanted to say, you smile at him nodding your head."Yes, I am. Just daydreaming that's all."
Spider-Man still was hesitant, but you just smiled at him. Looking you over he relaxes."That's good."He looks to Rhino with a pleased smile for his action."Thanks, you really are getting the hang of his hero thing."
Rhino scuffs but smirks at him. The training soon ended, and Black Widow dismisses everyone, but you. Having to stay back to talk with her, but you did asks everyone if they could meet you in the dinning room. Which they didn't mind.
Leaving you with Black Widow, Nova curios as to what happen with you just now in the training. He wondered why you didn't fly at all. And the look of terror on your face when he told you to. Puzzled him, wanting to tell the others he thought against it.
Doing as you asked, everyone went to the dinning room waiting for you. Which seem to be like forever. Squirrel Girl was starting to get ancy. Groaning, when you they hear come running in. Apologizing to everyone, going right passed them, they see you into the back of the kitchen. Out of their sight, fumbling through things.
"...Do you need help?"Dagger asks.
"No!"you yell back to her."Someone cover Rhino's eyes!"
"Huh?!"Rhino was confused, but Cho does as you asks and covers his eyes. Much to Rhino's dislike."HEY!"he growls.
He grabs hold of Cho's wrist, scaring the boy who yells for you hurry up. Just as Rhino was about to throw him, you come out carrying a tray of chocolate cupcakes with grey icing with really mini what look like ice cream cones and grey jellybeans like ears looking rhino cupcakes. There was enough for everyone to have two. Placing the tray down infront of the brute, who was speechless at what he saw.
He looks to you, you just smile at him."Sorry, these are a bit late. It's your welcoming present. To the group."you tell him.
Stung by your act of kindness. Everyone was, though Squirrel Girl complained that she didn't get a gift like this. Holding up a cupcake, for him Rhino gently takes it from you. Looking at it, in the palm of his hand. He smiles warmly at it, then to you.
"Thank you."he tells you, popping it in his mouth. Licking his lips, he gets another one. Soon the others grab theirs. Seeing how fast they where going, you go to the back to fetch some more trays. Coming out with more, everyone ate your cupcakes enjoying the small little party. Spider-Man bit into his, with chocolate frosting on his lip, not noticing, until he felt someone gently wipe it away. Freezing he looks to find you had used your finger to do so.
Blushing, he smiles warmly at you. Which you quickly advert your eyes and go to the others. Spider-Man watches you mingle with Ka-Zar, Cloak and Dagger. He smiles while he watched you laughing. When Iron Fist made his way over to you. Standing close, which made him just slightly jealous, though he moves that in the back of his mind. Taking another bite of his sweet cupcake, not realizing how bittersweet things seem to become.
