"So, Kylie...I was wondering if maybe...Naw." Miles threw out, tried again. "Hey Kylie, how about...Nope." He sighed shaking his head, swinging through the city towards Kylie's place. Trying to think of what to say.
His mind devising a plan or plans on how to get her and Peter together. For the longest, he'd been trying to get the two of them together. Coming up with any plan he could, sure it was sneaky, but he had to do it. They're meant to be together. He just knew it. Webbing to the next skyscraper, he could see her place just a few more buildings ahead. He enjoyed coming over to her place, just as he did back on his Earth. Back on his Earth, her living conditions were pretty great. Though compared to now, which was much better. Well in her younger years. Noticing an open window swung right in, straight into the living room. He never really used the door, preferring to just come in. Kylie never seem to mind, always leaving a window open for him, as he would stop by unannounced. And each time he did his thing. Take off his mask, then...
Go through the fridge, making himself something to eat. Always a huge sandwich, with some Sour Cream n' Onions chips on the side or pretty much any kind of chips. With a can of soda, and anything else. Her fridge was always stock, mainly because of him. She had everything any teenager could want. After making his sandwich he would prop himself at the island to eat. Give a holler of his presence. But, since his mouth was full he would have to wait till he swallowed only to nearly choke from the shocking surprise he discovered.
Hearing a noise, assuming it was Kylie he should at least let her know he was here, he takes another bite of his sandwich and gets up to greet her. With his soda in his hand, opening it, drinking it to wash down his food. To spit it out all over Ben and you. Though more so Ben, than you. He moved you behind him just in time to spare you from the soda spray. Miles had to do a double take, making sure his eyes were seeing what they were. Making sure it was registering in his mind. Pointing from Ben to you, then back. Outside his Scarlet Spider attire, in nothing but sweatpants while you dressed in pajama shorts and tank top. Both of you holding empty plates, and holding hands. This wasn't...didn't seem right. Maybe it was a prank or something. Miles's mind processing this.
All of this!
He was...was...just in utter shock!
"W-What..."he stammered."W-What..."
This was unexpected, then again Miles had a habit of just stopping by unannounced. Which you clearly didn't seem to mind, but right now you kind of wish he didn't drop by and would have called. The look on his face, complete shock and he seem to be slightly angry, you weren't sure. Shock was the most prominent expression on his face. There was nothing neither you or Ben could say to explain this or try to make it seem like it wasn't what he was seeing. The cat was now out of the bag. Guess it was better him than anyone else. Then again, he seem rather crushed. Whatever idea he had just blew up.
Ben on the other hand, not fond of having Miles's spit on him grunts and quickly puts his plate away, then goes to the bathroom clean himself."Close your mouth." he grunts Miles, who's mouth still remained wide open, closes when he hears the bathroom door shut.
Miles still looked at you. Waiting for some sort of explanation. Sighing, you put your plate away. Miles follows you, arms crossed the whole time. You look away rather embarrassed, though try to act like you didn't care."...There's nothing too surprising about it." you said like it was nothing.
"Ah! What? That's all you have to say!?"Miles exclaimed a tinge upset, pointing at you. Then behind him."This whole time! The two of you have been...are a...Serious!?"Raising his voice."Come on!"
"You're blowing this way out of the water. Two people get together, is it a crime?" you said in your defense.
He slams his hands down on your island, cracking it. "Yes! Especially when two OTHER people are suppose to get together!"
"That's in your world." You said with an eyeroll. "Here, in this time and age. It doesn't matter. Besides-"
"I thought you were with Iron Fist?"
"Oh, that, well...it sail long ago. Jumped off that right away." You flip your hair back, keeping your eyes busy at other things, that weren't Miles.
It didn't stop him from getting in your face. "So you're cheating?! What the heck Kylie?"
"Enough!" You shove a hand over his face. Hushing him. "I'm not cheating on Iron Fist, okay? Like I said that ship sailed a long time ago. So, this is completely okay with me and Ben. So, it's fine and it's fine by you. Right?"
With you ahnd muffling his mouth it couldn't respond. Good, your ears could rest. Wiggling out, he smacked your hand away. "Wrong! Kylie, look I came over here to well, well..."
You wait for him to say it, kind of already knowing felt something fall in your stomach. "Look, give it a rest. I never had any intentions with Parker. Spider-Man. Peter. Whatever."
"Whatever?!" Miles repeated. "Whatever?! You two have a child together! How is that whatever!? Huh? What will Jewel's think when she comes back and Fur-"
The second the name of your daughter left his mouth, your head spun around like a typhoon, silencing the next word that might have come out his mouth. Miles quickly hushed, under your hard glare. Swallowed every bit of word that lodged in his throat. Slowly stepped back with his hands up.
"Don't you dare!" your voice matching your harden gaze. Growl. "Don't you dare, Miles use my own child against me like that! Or my uncle! You have no right!" Take a step towards him, he backed up feeling the rising tension and anger from you. That slowly started to change you into your other form, the dark markings...the works. Even your voice changed to a darker one. "She has nothing to do with this!"
Miles tried to speak. "Kyli-"
"Don't!" you hissed, slamming a fist into your island nearly breaking it. Miles jumped back. He could hear the sound of his heart thrashing in his ears. You seem to have noticed and calmed down. Just a bit. Turned your back to him, so he couldn't see your trembling chin.
Miles remained stilled. A heavy silence presented itself for a few minutes. "What's going on here?" Ben entered, cleaned and dressed. His normal wear now, a simple grey hood jacket, with blue jeans, dark blue sneakers, and a dark grey shirt underneath. He looked from you to Miles, neither of you looked at the other. Faces turned down to the ground. "Umm, okay?" He stepped in stopped for a moment from the thickness of emotions. Pushed himself through went over to you. He studied you for a moment, before clearing his throat.
You notice him and walk right by. "I'll be in the shower."
Miles flinched from the words, but kept quiet, even when you slammed the door down the hall. "So," Ben turned to Miles, "want to tell me what that was all about? Even though I could sort of most of it."
Shifting where he stood, Miles lifted his head and eyes to Ben. Who stood there arms crossed with brows knotted. Despite the calmness his face held. "I-It was nothing." Miles lied a bit. "We were just talking, is all."
Ben grunted. Miles kept going. "Fine," he sighed. "don't get mad, I just don't think you two should well..."he held up two fingers and crossed them. "not saying your not a good guy or anything, it's just well..."
"Look,"Ben sighed, relaxing his arms to his side. "whatever choice Kylie made, it's her own. Alright. Mine too, I sort of understand a bit..about what you want. But, it's clearly not her choice. Either accept it or not."
Miles furrowed. With his voice. "Will Peter except it?"
His question came and hit like a ton. No words came from Ben, except a soft grunt and look to the side. "Well?" Miles pressured. "What about Peter? Huh? Dude has been trying hard to get her back, trying to make it work and stuff. They've got a kid together," his voice dropped. "he loves her. Even if he's been giving her space. Which personally he shouldn't, cause..." Miles bit his lip. Did his best to hold down his rising frustration that transferred into his a clenched fist that shook.
He was taking this...hard. Ben saw, saw the hurt that slowly rose itself in Miles's eyes and wrinkled on his face. If he could shoot heat vision from his eyes he would. "Are you mad at me?" Ben asked.
A question Miles didn't expect. Looked to his teammate. With nothing to say. Only put on his mask. Grunted, muttered he'd see them there and left out the window he came in.
Not even finishing the food he had prepared himself. So Ben threw it away, a few minutes you came fresh, cleaned, and dressed. For this special occasion. A simple casual sleeveless light blue dress with dark green and blue designs. And brown wedges. Your hair was thrown back into a pony tail with dark sunglasses resting on top.
"Ready?" you asked Ben walking over smoothing out your dress. Notice someone was gone. "Where's Miles?"
Ben came to your side, gestured to the window. "He left. He'll meet us there, um.." his voice dropped a bit. "are you sure you want go? I mean..."
You knew what he was getting at and hushed him. "I don't mind, besides, it'll be fine. They are dear to me so I wan to go. Besides they know so it's cool."
Ben shifted a bit in his stance. "Yeah, kind of figured that out, I mean...how are we going to act?" He gestured between the two of you. "With the others and everyone? Especially Peter?"
For some reason your heart dropped and stomach too. "It's fine, we'll just..."you try to think of something. With your mind swirling and heart racing. You weren't sure what to do...you really weren't.
Peter was sure, walking down the street to his aunt's house. Hurrying, he had the most important item for today. He couldn't be late or too late. Holding it in a sack, he knew his aunt was going to be glad. Peter was too...despite...the tragedy that still inflicted him. If Jewel, his mind began to wonder, if she was here she'd be hoping up and down pulling on his arm. Pointing towards Aunt May's house telling him to hurry, then getting frustrated and run off with her gift she had wrapped (no doubt badly) held close.
Yeah, Peter smiled to himself at the thought. If Jewel was here, that's what she'd do...his face fell at the thought of his missing daughter he had yet to find. On top of that Nick Fury was still missing. Both family members that belonged to Kylie. The weight of failing the two people most dear to Kylie was heavier than even the Hulk. He'd get them back...if only..his mind lamented she...Kylie would look at him with assurance that he would. But, she barely as much gave him a glance, even so from that glance his heart raced.
It always did every time she crossed his mind. Hopefully, she'll be there.
Arriving to Aunt May's home, Peter knocked and opened the door. Finding the room filled with laughter and his Web Warriors. Amadeus Cho, Iron Spider. Miles Morales, Kid Arachnid, Flash Thompson Agent Venom. Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider, and his Aunt May who was playing a game of charades. But, Peter noticed there was no sign of, Kylie. Of you.
Just the guys and that was all.
He tried not to make it show his sadness, put on a smile. When Aunt May greeted him with a hug and kiss. Welcoming him. The others do the same. He greeted her back with the same affection, even the kiss in front of everyone. The guys laughed, Peter didn't mind. Leaving them he went to the kitchen to put what he had in the fridge. Ben got up and followed him.
"Did you get it?" He asked. "You bought the cake, right?"
Peter smirked. "Bought it? I fought crime with it. We had a team-up together." Opened the bag to show it, find a sack full of money instead of cake.
"I'm not even going to ask." Ben shook his head.
While Peter remained shocked and confused. "What? But-but...if that's here...okay." He realized what happened. "I'll get this to NYPD as soon as possible. Think they'll give the cake back, or will it be impounded into evidence?"
"Does it matter." Ben ignored Peter's humor. "Cause based on the fact that I actually know you. I expected this." He walked to the fridge, opened it and took out a pink sized cake box. Walked back over and presented to Peter.
"Back up cake?" Peter smiled.
"Back up cake," Ben confirmed.
Peter threw himself on Ben hugging him. "Dude! Thanks for being someone I can count on." Ben smiled for a moment, it fell from what Peter said next. "Have you seen Kylie? Do you know if she's here or that she showed up?" He asked realizing Ben.
It took ever ounce of Ben to keep his face from cringing and falling. Shook his head. "No, can't...can't say that I have. Not that I would know where she is, I mean...we're not that close or talk to each other outside of work and stuff. Yeah," he chuckled nervously a bit.
"Umm, okay?" Peter chuckled softly. "Weird thing to say, but alright. I was hoping she'd be here or something. Cho said he sent her an invite and May invited her," he sighed long. Running a hand through his hair. "I know we're well...we're not really.." his voice lowered. "close. I know she's mad at me and everything. I'm doing what I can to make it up, I just want her to see that well...I was hoping she'd be here. At least we still have one person we both love."
Referring to Aunt May, Ben caught on. Cleared his throat. "I-I'm sure she'll show up soon. You know how she can umm...be."
His words put a small smirk on Peter's lips. "Yeah," he agreed fondly. "I know. That's what I love about her, even if she's believed she's changed. I'll love her." His eyes started to get misty, he quickly wiped them away. "Look at me?" He chuckled. "Getting emotional at a time like this. It's my Aunt's birthday so can't show any tears or-"
"Kylie!" Flash exclaimed from the living room. "You're here! You made it!"
Racing from the kitchen Peter hurries back to the living room, Ben following. It was true, Peter stopped the moment he stepped in the room. Eyes and mouth wide. There as clear as day, greeting everyone with a smile, that grew larger when their eyes landed on May. He watched the two of them hug, his heart thumped rapidly he felt his chest began to swell and cheeks heat up. A smile formed itself on his lips.
You.
Kylie Fury.
Going be well...Fury. As a codename. There was something behind the name, Peter was sure. But that didn't matter right, he was glad to see you here. He wasn't sure if you'd come, but here you stood...in Aunt May's home. Looking, his eyes took notice of your attire, you looked beautiful, almost if you were glowing. Or it could just be his own imagination. You looked beyond any words he could find.
He began tugging on his collar. Ben standing behind him, did his best to just slip quietly to the side. Not making any sort of eye contact with you. And you did the same, it was better this way. Miles despite it all put on a face too. To your surprise, he had come and gave you a hug. With a small whisper in your ears. Cho wasted no time hugging you, and Flash gave you a fist bump. Besides May who you greeted right after getting everyone, well, almost everyone there was still one more person.
Peter waited heart pounding it wanted to burst, he waited for you to turn his way...you were almost done. He...he...trembled when you moved from May and slowly (in his mind) around in his direction and...burst! It happened so fast and unexpected. The whole room hushed, Ben held himself down from shooting up from where he sat, Miles swallowed the yelp that rose in his throat, you remained frozen from what Peter did. His arms just wrapped themselves around you, pulled you close and held you close. Both your chest and his touched, you could feel his heart beating rapidly. It overpowered your own, that desperately wanted to sync with his heart's rhythm. But, with ever bit of strength held it back.
Peter held you close, it was quite clear he was more than overjoyed to see you and you...you had to think fast with eyes on you. How to react, you needed too or...either hug him back or push him away. If you did then...why did he have to put you in such a spot. Your arms remained frozen and still. Yet, your fingers moved wanting to rest on his back...you..you..
"Geez, Parker," Cho snickered, breaking the moment. "let her breathe." Came over and elbowed Peter back playfully. Laughing.
Thank goodness, you sighed, stepped back just a bit but kept your smile on. Giving a small laugh at what Cho said. "S-Sorry," Peter apologized sheepishly. A small blush on his cheeks. Cleared his throat. Smiled warmly. Took your hands tenderly in his. Held his eyes to yours. "I'm just glad you came."
It hurt. It so bad and...yet you simply gave a nod. A light one, took your hands back flashed him a small smile. Took a few steps back, thumbed over your shoulder. "Why don't I go and get the refreshments and cake ready? Okay?"
Before anyone could say anything, you turn and head to the kitchen. Though set May's gift down next to Ben. And leave. Once in the kitchen, you take a deep breath and exhale. Hold a hand to your chest, feel your heart racing and flipping.
"Calm down, calm down," you whisper to yourself. Walking over to the fridge. Open it, find the cake. "it just for a few hours." You take it out and open the box. It was still good. Smiling, you slip it out and take down some plates. Get some forks, you just needed some cups.
Now where were they again? Looking around find the cabinet they were in, walk over, open and take a few down. One after another, felt something strange for a moment that you hadn't noticed a hand raised behind you, came down on your elbow.
You jumped and swung back. "Whoa!" Flash blocked your strike.
"Flash!?" You gasped, bring your hand back. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Are you okay?"
He nodded. Looking up at you from his wheelchair. "You okay?" He asked tilting his head. "Something wrong?"
"I'm fine, why do you ask?" You turn back around and get the rest of the cups down.
Flash waited a second before answering. "Well, I don't know," he shrugged a bit. "your dismissive attitude towards, Parker. And the fact you looked like you wanted to cry back there when he hugged you. That's why."
You almost dropped the last two cups. "Oh." You softly said.
Flash noticed your eyes fall to the side and your movement slower. He sighed long. "Look, I know it's really none of my business, but I feel it is my concern. By the way, you can stop with the cups and stuff, the guys left." You stopped and looked to him. "Got a call to head back to the Academy. Anyway, back to what I was saying. About it being my concern, I know you're upset with Parker about Jewel. Heck," his voice began to crack. "I miss the little kid." He chuckled sadly. With a smirk to match. "I know it's hard for you not having her here or Fury. I'm sorry you lost them both and everything. I know Parker's sorry too. And I know he's trying to make it up to you, and he still loves you too-"
Your heart stung.
Flash kept going. "I get why you icy and distant. A bit harsh, I get it, but...acting this way doesn't do anything. You're not just hurting yourself, but, Parker too. You're both trying to act like neither of you are affected, but the truth is that you two are and well...I just think it needs to stop. It makes no sense."
If only Flash knew, it made perfect sense. What choice did you have? After all?
"What do you mean by that?" Flash asked. You lift your eyes to him. "You just said, What choice did I have? What did you mean?"
You hand flew over your mouth, did you just...spill it? Fear and sorrow filled your eyes, it formed into tears in the corner of your eyes. Flash saw it, even if you tried to hide it. He rolled closer, took your hand. Held it.
"Kylie," he spoke softly. "what is it? What's wrong?"
Swallowing the tightness in your throat, shut your eyes. You couldn't say it...you wanted to but...squeezing your eyes tighter. That smile..that evil smile...on those red thin lips. What choice did you have...what...choice did you really have? Squeezing Flash's hand, squeeze your eyes further, see a flash of light. For a moment felt something was wrong, you weren't sure what but...opening your eyes find Flash waiting. Still holding your hand.
A hand you took back. "Nothings wrong," you tell him dryly, turning around, putting the cups back. Choking silently on your words. "nothing at all. I'm okay really."
Though you spoke those words, Flash didn't believe them. Even if you tried to force them to be believable. So he left you alone, when he was gone completely, you stop and stare out the window. Something didn't seem right...your skin crawled with goosebumps and this pit in your stomach grew. Just as those dark clouds miles away started gathering and coming closer.
