Blood Ties and Demon Eyes
Hermione sat in the back seat of her parent's BMW. She was in shock. For a 17 year old girl, she'd had a fair amount to deal with over the past 2 weeks, and it was starting to appear that she hadn't actually been dealing with it at all. Unlike other people in shock, her body didn't shake, she didn't cry, in fact she didn't really do anything. She became a statue, stiff and inanimate. Her mother was the complete opposite, she was curled up on the backseat next to her, sobbing her heart out in fear for her own mother's health. The trip to the B.R.I felt like ages, when in reality it was little under an hour.
They parked in a nearby street, and wandered over to the ginormous building with its lollipop-like statue outside. Asking at reception, they were directed to the I.C.U by a passing doctor who happened to be heading that way. On their way there they bumped into Evie, who had driven her own car to the hospital, who was also making her way to see her sister. She appeared to be in the same state of distress as Miranda was; barely keeping it together.
Upon entering the ward, they were guided over to Valerie's bed by one of the resident nurses. The room was heavy with silence, the only noises to be heard were the heavy breathing of the patients, and the gentle beeping of their heart monitors. They wandered over and sat around her. The nurse that had guided them over informed them that she was in a medically induced coma whilst her body recovered from the stroke. Hermione, stood awkwardly to the side whilst Evie, Andrew and Miranda crowded around the bed. Miranda, upon seeing her mother unconscious in a hospital bed, with tubes coming out of her throat, and a life support machine buzzing away beside her, broke down into near hysterics. Andrew guided her to a chair that sat next to the bed, whilst Evie sat down heavily in a chair on the other side. Hermione watched on as Miranda slipped one hand into her Mother's and the other wrapped around her head as she face-planted the blanket, sobbing uncontrollably.
They spent the next couple hours sat next to Valerie, all bar Hermione sending out a prayer to any god that would listen, that she would be okay. Eventually the visiting hours were up and they all had to leave. They meandered to the cafe on the ground floor, neither Evie nor Andrew felt they were in a fit state to drive. At least not until the shock wore off. They grabbed strong coffees, Hermione opting for a mocha.
Two hours later, they finally decided it was time to go home, with Evie staying over, as the Granger home was closer to the B.R.I than her own home. Upon arrival, Hermione wandered up to her room and collapsed on her bed, fully clothed. It had been a long stressful, and emotional day. All she wanted to do was sleep.
Two weeks later, there was still no change in Valerie's condition. Hermione had visited the Burrow on many occasions, just to get away from the emotional turmoil of her own home. Harry had been invited to stay at the Burrow by Mrs Weasley, in an attempt to keep him away from the horrible Dursley's that he would have had to stay with. This meant that the entire group was together when she would go to visit. They talked of Dumbledore and the secret mission he'd asked Harry to go on, although Ginny was always somewhere else when these conversations happened. They also discussed Valerie's condition, much to the confusion of all the Weasleys, who had never heard of a stroke before.
In the end Hermione decided she needed a night away from all the insanity of the last three weeks. She asked Ginny if she wanted to go out for the evening to the muggle/wizarding nightclub that Ginny had mentioned to her previously. Ginny leapt at the idea, being surrounded by her brothers 24/7 had led to her being a bit snarky with everyone. The idea that she'd be able to let her hair down and drink 'til she was 'pissed as a fart', made Ginny giggle with delight. She handed Hermione an incredibly short scarlet red dress. It barely covered her butt. It was a gorgeous lacey number, with one long tight sleeve that sat comfortably at her slender wrist. The other shoulder was sleeveless. Due to protection charms on the Burrow, the Ministry couldn't detect underage magic. Therefore, Ginny fixed Hermione's hair and make up with a quick flick of her wand. Something, much to Ginny's shock and amusement, Hermione had no idea how to do. Her own was fixed in a similar fashion. Hermione's eyes were lined with kohl black liquid eyeliner, in beautiful swooshes, that made her mascara'd lashes appear even longer. Her full pouty lips were the exact shade of her dress and seemed even plumper. Ginny's make up was far simpler; which gave her a more etheral look that complemented her stunning emerald green playsuit that worked fantastically with her vibrant ginger hair. They both had 6inch black peep-toe stilettos that made their long legs, look even sexier.
Waiting until everyone was safely in bed, they snuck downstairs, and grabbed some floo powder. Hermione didn't want to risk splinching Ginny, who at sixteen, was too young to apparate herself. Hermione chucked a handful of the powder into the fire, clambered in, and carefully called out "Spiders Nightclub, Hull". Two minutes later she was whisked across the country from Ottery St Catchpole to Hull, directly into the back room of the nightclub. Because the club was for both Muggles and Magical Folk, the room was only visible to those with magic in their blood. Once Hermione stepped out of the grate, Ginny appeared, grinning like a Cheshire Cat. The loud music accosted both their ears. Although it wasn't the kind of music Ginny typically listened to, this was the exact type of music that Hermione did. They wandered over to the bar and ordered two Malibu and cokes. The barman gave them both a peculiar look, unsure of their age, until he recognised Hermione as Harry Potter's best friend. Thinking that he was in with a shout at bedding the witch if she was plied with enough booze; he chose to serve them anyway.
With their drinks in their hands, Hermione led Ginny onto the dancefloor. Swaying her hips hypnotically to the sound of a song she didn't recognise. Ginny stood open-mouthed watching Hermione in shock. She'd never seen her dance like that... ever! She decided to let her have her night instead of bring it up and potentially pushing her friend further into her shell. Ginny shimmied closer to her through the crowd and danced against her, pretty soon the song changed to another one Ginny didn't recognise, but clearly Hermione did. The heavy beat pulsed through those on the dance floor while the hypnotic words ran through Ginny who found herself entranced by the most amazing voice she'd ever heard.
'I'm scared to get close, I hate being alone I long for the feeling, to not feel at all. The higher I get, the lower I'll sink, I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim...'
Before Ginny knew what she was doing she felt the unusual urge to bang her head along to the bass, Even stranger still was the fact that Hermione already was. She got caught up and found her hair whipping through the air along to the music. Entranced like a cobra to a snake charmer. All of a sudden, a loud crash resounded through the nightclub and the music stopped. Then the screaming started. It jerked both Hermione and Ginny from their hypnotic trances. The screams weren't screams of fear, they were screams of pain, agonising, mind numbing, excruciating pain. Both girls instinctively ducked, they had their wands, that they'd hidden up their sleeves, in their hands in an instant. They scrambled over to a nearby table and hid under it, trying to work out what was causing all the screaming.
That was when she saw it... a flash of silvery blonde hair. The next sound that hit Hermione's ears turned her blood to ice. She could recognise that deranged cackle anywhere. There was at least one death eater in the building, more specifically, an incredibly dangerous and highly psychotic death eater; Bellatrix Lestrange. The sounds of screaming intensified as more screams joined the original one. There obviously weren't many wizards or witches in the nightclub, or the death eaters would've fled long ago. Hermione quickly realized that both herself and Ginny were recognisable, and cast a glamour spell over them both to appear like regular and uninteresting muggles.
The one thing she hadn't counted on, was for none other than Draco Malfoy to look directly at her just before she cast the spell. 'But it's dark, right? I mean it's a nightclub, and let's face it I hardly look like I did back in Hogwarts! Maybe he didn't notice me?' she thought to herself. If he had recognised her, he pretended not to show it, as his feature never changed from the ice-cold smirk that sat upon his lips. Avada Kedavra's were being cast left, right and centre, with flashes of green light, the bodies were quickly piling up. Not all were killed, some were just crucio'ed until they were unconscious. That was when Bellatrix noticed two muggle girls cowering under a table. She was impressed with how beautiful they were even for filthy muggles, and decided she wanted to play a game with them.
"Come here little pretties, it's okay. Bella won't hurt you... Why don't you come out so we can have a look at you, eh?" She had a psychotic glint in her eye that made Hermione gulp audibly. Malfoy's eyes didn't betray him, as he just smirked at the two girls creeping out from the table. Hermione timidly grabbed Ginny's hand and pulled her close to her, to stand before Bellatrix.
"Good little pretties! Now why don't you tell my darling nephew here your names, hm?" Hermione had no idea where this was going, but had to think on the spot to stop the death eaters from becoming suspicious.
"Well... I-I'm Harriet, and t-this is Gwen" It was the best she could come up with under the circumstances, she just hoped it was believable. Ginny nodded at being announced. Memorising the name, just in case she was addressed as such later.
"What do you think little dragon? Do either of these tickle your fancy... You need to get your first kill out of the way, you know our lord is waiting... Maybe you can even have your way with one of these interesting women... I'm sure dear old Lucius would applaud you!" She cackled maniacally and a shiver ran down Ginny's spine. This was so not going the way she'd hoped it would.
Hermione looked at Draco with fear in her eyes... at that point she knew she was going to die, and only one person could stop it.
"I'm afraid aunty dearest, I have far higher expectations than you believe I do. I wouldn't sully myself with any of these filthy maggots. However, they could be something for me to play with? Maybe we should let them be the only ones to leave... think of the fear we'd instil in them. They'd spend the rest of their days wondering and waiting, when I'm going to swoop down and kill them. They could tell anyone they wanted about us and no one would believe them!" A cruel and revolting grin of malice and pure evil spread across his lips. Bella cackled again, delighted at Draco's sheer viciousness.
"Fine, as you've been such a good little death eater tonight, I will allow you to have your fun with them! Go now you pathetic little wretches. Just leave, and live in fear of the dragon that will come for you..." She cackled maniacally again, grabbed them by their hair and shoved them through the door roughly.
Once outside, Hermione grabbed Ginny's hand and ran as fast as she could away from the wretched place, before she pulled her into a nearby alleyway, and disapperated, with Ginny against her.
A/N: ANOTHER UPDATED AND FIXED CHAPTER, NOT THAT I HAD TO CHANGE MUCH TBH.
Disclaimers first! I don't own BMW! I don't own Spiders nightclub, it's a genuine nightclub in Hull! It's epic. I also don't own the Cheshire Cat, it's a character from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll - which was a pseudonym of Charles Dodgson.
I am aware that the music referenced in this isn't from the correct decade for the story, but I really have no idea what the musical equivalent would have been back then, as I would have been a baby XD so I apologise for the inaccuracies. :)
Also the B.R.I really does have a weird lollipop statue thing outside of it... I can't really describe it very well. It's because the children's hospital is right next to the B.R.I, so it makes it less daunting for kids, to see a colourful and fun statue-thing. :) Check it out on the internet maybe?
Song Lyrics are: Can You Feel My Heart - Bring Me The Horizon. This song is literally my jam 3 :3
Reviews are my bread and butter, and believe me they're needed! Also we're over 500 reads, which makes me ecstatic that people ARE actually reading this :D So thank you
