The guilt of the pasts was breaking her apart and she could feel it. Just as much as the madness that is taking over her veins she could feel them looking down; they had become a dark purple on her hands and had started to bulge even Xander noticed. "Hey Alice, are you alright? You are starting to become quire veiny. I'm a little worried." They were fast approaching a castle that could be seen in the distance.
"It's madness...when one who is guilty enters Hell especially one who can not die...It makes it worse until one goes mad." She looked at him out of the corner of her adding that her guilt, what if she hurts him. "Don't worry Alexander we are almost there." Nodding up to the castle.
"Okay, well one thing missy? I noticed your change in conversation. Another thing is it is exactly our destination." She deeps gulp and inhales through her nose. It's Belphegor-Lord of the gap." Xander shook his head.
"Lord of the G.A.P" Alice looked at him clearly confused.
"No he is one of the seven princes of Hell. He lends a demon hand, you can people to make great discoveries and seduces them to make riches...he also tempts people by laziness and is Prince of Sloth." She keeps walking, shaking her hands. "By meeting him he will be able tell me of way to kill myself." She closes her eyes.
"You know just because you can't be human, doesn't mean you have to die. I Understand the thing about dead people staying dead. But being Human does not mean what we've made it to..mean. I'm not sure I'm coming across how I should. " Xander deeply sighs. Well I haven't told you about my friend ..my Best friend Jessie. When we met Buffy a bunch of vampires were also in town." He paused remembering. "They took him, he was my friend even before Willow...They turned him but even though he was a vampire, a demon…..a monster." He put his hands in his pocket and looked at Alice and made sure she was paying attention. " He still wanted one thing, one very human thing, love, he had this huge crush on a beautiful girl and still wanted to just dance with her. So you see being human isn't what you think it is, it's emotional feelings and just everything. This urge to die to make up for things that you can't take back." He stopped this time and turned to face Alice. He studied her long black hair the color of his dead friend. "Is infact the most human thing." He put loose hair behind her ear. She went to speak but He stopped her. "If this is what you really want, I give you my word I won't stop you. He smiled at her. "Promise." She didn't know what to say.
"I'm sorry about Jesse he didn't deserve to die no one ever does."
"Yeah and to think he did it twice." She gave him a small smile.
"Was it the slayer?" Xander frowned slightly.
"No it was me by accident..he was bumped and puched into my stake." Alice looked at him steadily in the eyes.
"Would he have killed you." She waited.
"Yes, I believe he would have."
"Well then I'm glad you're here not him. Xander looked at her stunned. He always carried the guilt around with him why it wasn't him but to hear somebody say that they were he was here it eased it a bit not completely but a bit.
"Well I'm glad I'm here and that I've met you Miss Alice." They both laughed until they heard a voice.
"I can't say that I'm excited that you are here but perhaps you will be entertainment for me." A man stood upon some rocks. He had a deep British accent and was dressed in hunting attire.
"And whooo are you?" Xander spoke in a weird voice. The man leaped down and extended his hand that neither of them shook. He smiled slightly.
"Hunter Blake consort to the prince of the castle." They both stared at each other. "Don't tell me you never heard of me….." The silence was deafening. "Well no matter if you care about some tea?"
He nodded to a nicely made picnic. Xander's stomach chose that moment to growl. He got a raised eyebrow from the curious man.
"I don't think we have time." He looked towards Alice who nodded her head.
"We have come to speak with your prince." She spoke with clear power in her voice. But Hunter chose to laugh.
"Trust me you have time my lady for I won't let you pass until you do." They looked at eachother. "I promise it's not poisoned."
Xander leaned in to Alice. "How much of a choice do we have in this? She sighed.
….
As they sat with the consort awkwardly trying not to eat and drink but doing it so they don't upset him. "I know perhaps you think it's strange that I would want to have tea time." Hunter spoke.
"Yeah it's like your, the mad hatter." Xander said quietly but he was heard anyway.
"Uh yes that Alice in Wonderland book. Big hit I hear Lewis Carrol is in hell in case you are wondering." Alice looked at them both and seemed deep in thought.
"Really?" Xander chirped, not noticing her expression.
"Oh yes, all people who are pedophile's are in Hell automatically." Xander nodded at Hunter.
"Is that all the references you have been making are from this book?" Alice asked Xander, looking slightly embarrassed.
"Yeeeeah?"
"And you do this to all your friends is that correct like a type of razzing."s
"Yes if you don't like it Alice I'll stop." She sat still for a moment then grabbed what looked to be a tiny sandwich.
"No, I like it." She smiled wickedly. Xander laughed, happy he didn't offend her. He never really cared too much about offending people but you never know with people who have a case of the crazy Druiscilla, came to mind.
"Why sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Hunter exclaimed quoting the book. Xander replied.
"Curiouser and curiouser," They both laughed. He turned to Alice. "Perhaps I will have some time that I can introduce it to you." He said hopefully. She took a bite and nodded perhaps. Eventually Hunter escorted them through what looked like to be an overrun garden. It was clear that keeping in Hell was not important.
