The year is 1907 34 year old me was riding with Sadie and Charles. Earlier, Sadie had informed me that Cleet, one of Micah's boys, holding up at Strawberry so we better get there fast! Abigail had stopped from going but I reasoned with her that if Micah walked out alone, then we'd all be dead and plus we still need the money to pay off my debts so me and my family can keep this land to ourselves. After reasoning with her, I ride off with the two to Strawberry and to find the rat and make him pay for what he had done!
Arthur saved me a lot of times and it's time for me to avenge the one I considered. Brother. We made it to Strawberry and dismount our horses.
"Okay, John, Charles, you take the other side of the river," Sadie ordered. "I'll stay on this one."
"Sure," I agreed as me and Charles walks up ahead. "Let's go."
"If he's here, we'll get him," Charles added.
Me and Charles went straight and saw Cleet after 8 long years. I called out to his name while walking towards him, "Hey, Cleet!" I called out, "Been a while," He turned around and saw me panicked.
"Oh shit…" Cleet muttered and quickly makes a break for it.
"Stop that, man!" I shouted, starting to chase him down. "He's wanted for murder!"
The chase took about 35 seconds or so but Sadie, out of the blue, caught him red handed.
"Hey there, Cleet," Sadie sneered at him. "Remember us?" I walk up to Sadie with Cleet already captured. "John you wanna take a turn?"
"Hey, hey, hey, we're old buddies, ain't we?" Cleet tried to reason with us.
"Sure, Sadie," I agreed. "My pleasure," I kicked Cleet in the face, knocking him down on his back. "Where's Micah?" I threatened him.
"Micah? I ain't seen him."
I knew he was lying so I punched him in the face. "Where is he?" I threatened him again.
"I don't know, I ain't seen him," Cleet explained. "We fell out."
"And you know what," Sadie begin. "I'm getting bored with this. Let's hang the bastard."
"Good Idea," I nodded. I dragged Cleet by his collar to the Gallows where the law here executed some poor bastards by hanging. And that's what we're doing unless he fesses up the rat's location. After forcing him to take the stairs, Sadie gets a hold of him and tied a rope around his neck; tighten it so he'll barely breathe.
I went to the lever that'll pull up the rope if I pull the lever but not before asking him again.
"Now where's Micah?" I asked him again.
"I already told you, I ain't seen him!" Cleet replied, he barely even breathe.
"You lie." Sadie sneered.
"It ain't my fault!" Cleet protested. "He tried to kill me!"
"Where's Micah?!" Sadie asked with a growl.
"Talk or I'll pull this lever!" I threatened, I slowly attempted to pull the lever down and that's when he finally fesses up.
"Stop!" Cleet pleaded. "Wait, wait, wait. H-he's up in the mountains. I think he's up at Mount Hagen. He got a whole gang, now. Bad men…doing bad things. I-I tried to stop him from murdering that little girl…. We fell out. Honest… please…. I'm one of the guys."
I believed every single word he said, so he's got enough for today.
"Hang him," Sadie ordered.
I was kind of surprised when Sadie told me to. Even if Cleet tried to stop him from killing that poor girl, he's still wanted for murder but he tried to stop him He tried, so there's no point of killing him now since I've saw how he tries to move on.
"I can't do it, Sadie," I said, letting go of the lever. "Not like this."
"Thank you," John," Cleet says.
But Sadie got angry and shot him in the head in front of other folks who were watching the whole time. Sadie puts her gun down and we went for our horses just up ahead.
"C'mon, little rat said Mount Hagen." Sadie said. "Micah, we're coming for ya'."
We mounted our horses and ride our way to Mount Hagen. Mount Hagen is pretty far away from where we are now, and took hours for us to get there and when night came, we had to stop and make ourselves a little campsite for the whole night. We woke in the morning as the sun rises, we packed all of our things and continue our journey to Mount Hagen, and we're getting close. The wind is getting cold the more we approached the mountain, so we put on our black winter coats on. We finally made it and we're heading to a pass that'll ascend us to top of them mountains.
"We all ready?" Charles asked as we rode up to the pass. "This pass will take us up on the mountains."
"Lead the way," Sadie said.
"There's an old Watchtower up there that they might be using it for a camp." Charles informed.
And before we knew it, Charles was shot by a sniper! The impact of the sniper bullet knocked him down from his horse.
"There must be a sniper," Sadie warned. "Get in cover, quick!"
I and Sadie quickly check up on Charles who's lying beside a big rock, keeping us covered from the sniper.
"You alive, Charles?" I asked and checked his wound. I was relief that his bullet wound was not that but Charles still needed help.
"Just about…" Charles spoke.
A sniper bullet almost hit me and we knew we have to take him out before he takes us out.
"John, be careful!" Sadie advised me as the two of us slowly ascend a bit while avoiding the bullets coming from the sniper. "We gotta get closed to him. Rock by rock, when we get the chance!"
So I followed Sadie's advised and took cover rock by rock until I get a good range to where I'll shoot from. "You shot me friend you son of a bitch! I'm gonna shoot you off that rock!" I shouted at the sniper shooter as I finally got closer to where my range is good enough and took him down with my rifle. Headshot!
When that feller is already dealt with, we returned to where Charles was hanging on. He was okay, for now.
"Hey, you're okay," Sadie comforted him. "You're okay,"
"I will be," Charles barely spoke. "But go on… go on now! Move fast… or they'll come down that hill and kill us all…."
"C'mon, John," She told me.
"Hey, I don't wanna leave him," I protested.
"Hey… they know we're coming, now… I will be fine…. I'll follow you up… I just can't move really fast…." Charles told us.
I can't leave him like this but he is also right. So right now, I and Sadie climb up the hills and hopefully Charles will catch up.
"Here they come," Sadie told me as we saw a few fellers up ahead with their rifles but we quickly gunned them down before we do.
"Up on that cliff!" Sadie shouted, I quickly shoot down some fellers by the cliff and continue making our way.
After taking down a few more of them, we come across with a campsite but it's not as good as what Charles described.
"It's not big enough," Sadie told me. "Micah rides with ten, twenty guys. Keep climbing till we find that watchtower Charles talked about."
So we continue going up and killing more on our way. We knew this would take like forever but here we are now and we can't let that rat get away with it. That rat took 8 years of us, and we're gonna make him pay!
"More men!" Sadie shouted, as she killed another few of fellers. "Micah Bell, were coming for ya'!"
As we continued running, another feller catches Sadie, stopping her.
"Sadie!" I exclaimed, I carefully aimed my gun at that feller but another one jumped from behind me and tackled me down. I was so busy beating the hell out of that guy till I'm fully aware that Sadie was stabbed on the stomach but later, Charles came and shot him down and I killed the guy who tackled me with my own gun.
"You alright?" I asked as she helped herself up.
"Just, fine," Sadie grunted, holding her wound. I helped her to sit down beside a pillar.
"You should sit down."
"I'm fine."
"You're dying."
"I'll be fine." Sadie told me. "I-I ain't dying just yet."
"Well, I hope not," I replied, I saw Charles quickly sit up beside her. "Charles you stay with her."
"Charles you worried about yourself," Sadie told him.
With both of my friends wounded, I knew I have to do this alone. So I continued walking, hopefully Sadie and Charles should be alright and then I come across with Joe and two of his guys.
"Ain't you got a bit of habit just showing up?" Joe asked.
"Where I got something to take care of, sure," I sneered at them.
"Just you left is it?"
"Yeah… just me," I replied. "And I was hoping I could kill you." And before they knew it, I killed three of them all at once. "That was Joe!" I called out to my wounded friends. "We gotta be close!"
So I continued my way to the watchtower and saw 2 fellers up ahead and killed them as I keep on running and never stopped.
"You're riding with a turncoat!" I shouted as more men showed up; I gunned down and continue on my way to the watchtower.
My rifle was running low on ammo, so instead I pull up my revolver and use it to kill some more of Micah's men.
"Micah Bell, I'm just here for Micah Bell!" I roared at the other 4 men up ahead and killing them. I also took out some snipers by the cliff and keep going and run and run and run.
"I'm here to finish things!" I shouted, killing three more men coming up.
I finally made it to the top of Mount Hagen and saw a big campsite there. So I have to kill everyone who holds up there first before coming for Micah and when I'm done, Micah is not in this campsite but I saw small tent just down ahead, I went down and killed 2 more fellers and took a sight of a wooden shed. This tells me Micah was there so I rushed over there as fast as I can.
I made it to the shed and look around for Micah. "Micah, if you're here, come on out!" I shouted.
I look around and turn to my left to where the door open and was none other than the rat himself.
"Hello, Scarface," Micah sneered. "Did you miss me?"
"Not much," I replied.
"It's been 8 years," Micah told me and then he chuckled. "How's that whore of yours."
I was pretty offended on how he called my soon-to-be-wife a whore but I kept my cool.
"She's good."
"Well maybe after all this is over, I'll go pay her a call. And the boy," Micah told me.
I knew what Micah meant but I ain't letting that happen. "Whatever you say," I said.
Micah pull out both of his revolvers and rapidly shooting at me but I quickly took cover behind some big crates.
"I got more men coming, John!" Micah told me, even though I have killed his entire gang. "You should run away!"
"I look forward to meetin' em!" I responded as Micah continued shooting at my direction.
After a minute, Sadie finally shows up, pointing her gun at Micah while still wounded.
"Come on out, Micah," Sadie snarled at him. "At least die like a woman!"
Micah chuckled. "Hellfire…. Just like old times," He then stopped shooting and puts his hands up, still holding his guns as Sadie pointed at his head and get him to move a bit forward to my direction.
Then suddenly, the door open, I turned to my right and couldn't believe what I'm seein. It's my old mentor, Dutch! He is wearing a black winter coat and has grown a beard and holds two revolvers on his hands.
"Hello, Son," Dutch said to me. It's been 8 long years since I last saw and hear from him. He walked out of the shed, pointing his left revolver at me with his left hand and other one at Micah's. "Mrs. Adler. Been quite awhile."
Then Micah quickly gets a hold of Sadie and held her at gunpoint. I tried to try but with Dutch aiming at me with his revolver on his left hand made me to stop.
"Now, John," Micah asked, as he finally held Sadie hostage and his gun pointing at me with his left hand. "What were you saying?"
We both knew we were all in a Mexican Standoff like 8 years ago when I sided Arthur while Micah and others sided with Dutch back at Beaver Hallow.
"What are you doing here, Dutch?" Ask my old mentor.
"Same as you, I supposed," Dutch replied.
"Dutch and I were teaming up once more," Micah explained. "We got the money. We got the dreams. Join us, John, join us."
Sadie was not hanging there too well and she's pretty dying soon.
"Let her go," Told him but I knew he won't comply.
"Now, I can't do that, John."
So I decided to reason with Dutch once more. "Dutch…" I reasoned with him. "Dutch, c'mon now!"
"You shot at me, son," Dutch told me.
"You started it," I responded.
"You betrayed me!" Dutch said. "I was trying to do my best… you… you just cared for yourself."
"But I think differently," I replied.
"Join us," Micah offered again. "Join us, John."
But I ain't joining that bastard and Sadie is dying soon! I had to do something!
"Let her go!" I ordered him. "She ain't well!"
"I don't wanna kill you, John."
"Arthur saved my life," I told them, reminding them about Arthur. "More than once!"
"Arthur's been dead a long time. This is a new century." Micah said.
I turned to Dutch. "Dutch…. Dutch… we all do our best for you… and it ain't our fault… that things turned out the way it did." I reasoned with him again. His gun still pointing at me, "Dutch, killing me won't solve nothing!"
"Put down your gun, Marston!" Micah told me.
"Say something, Dutch," I pleaded him. Hopefully, he'll come to his senses. "Say something!"
After a bit of silence, Dutch break the ice. "I ain't… got too much to say no more…"
So instead, he turned to Micah and shot him on the stomach, losing his grip on Sadie.
"You shot me," Micah said in shocked and then later chuckled even though he is closed to death. That rat seemed pretty insane than Dutch. "You shot me pretty good."
That was his last words. I shot him multiple times with my revolver and then Micah dropped dead on the ground. I turned to Dutch and thanked him but he just ignored me and walks away until we lose sight of him. That's the last time I ever saw Dutch.
Dutch had left the money in the shed and I think I knew why he left it here with me. But I decide not to acknowledge it, I loot the entire chess with the stolen money from blackwater into a big bag and helped Sadie and Charles to go back to our horses as we left the scene we've caused.
After a long day of riding from Mount Hagen, we returned to Beacher's hope, my home, and my ranch and to my family as Abigail, Uncle and Jack came out and saw us returning.
"It's over, Abigail," I announced as we came for a stop and dismount our horses. "It's over."
Abigail, overjoyed in tears run to me and hugged me dearly and we helped Sadie and Charles to get inside the house to get them patched up for their wounds. It's over. I avenged Arthur and now live a happy life with my family.
But I was dead wrong on that part. Because Ross and Archer had traced all the killings we made back at Mount Hagen back at our ranch and waited for a right time to strike. And 4 years is the right time they strike and they took my family away from me and I was blackmailed to hunt down my old gang members and Dutch. This is entirely my fault I have caused all of this to happen now. And now I'm paying the price. Arthur once said Revenge is a fool's game and I am a goddamn fool.
