A/N Hey guys hope you are safe and washing hands. My workout has started and as I have it in the morning and evening I'm afraid I won't be able to post regularly but I am going try to post as soon as possible. So hang in there and here's the next chapter for you please read and review hope you like it!

Chapter 4.

Tobias POV

I enter the building and head for the stairs. Thankfully Dauntless is just on second floor so I won't have to climb as much. Once I reach the floor I see a receptionist who is already eyeing me. I groan internally, this woman looks like trouble.

I approach the table and as politely as possible I say, "Hello, I am here for a job interview, could you please tell me where to go?"

"Yes sir, may I ask your name?" She says batting her lashes at me.

"Four" I say without elaborating. She is just about to ask something else when I hear another loud voice say or rather shout, "Four! Glad you came"

I instantly recognize it as Zeke and relieved turn away from the receptionist and start towards Zeke but not before I hear the receptionist say, "See you later, Four." As if that's gonna happen. I ignore her and follow Zeke who is heading back into the office. I'm really hoping that I don't meet Tris right now as she would probably explode at me. But I don't say anything like that to Zeke instead I say,

"Thank God you came right on time. I thought she would keep flirting till I snapped."

"It's nothing just ignore Nita. She flirts with everyone even guys with girlfriends." He says rolling his eyes. "Anyways you have your interview in 5 minutes. Today Will is gonna interview you and don't worry you'll get the job no problem."

Just then I see a guy with dark brown hair head towards us. He introduces himself as Will and asks me to follow him for the interview. I follow him to what I assume is his cabin as there are a few photos of himself and his family on the desk.

He asks me to take a seat and asks for my resume. I hand it over to him and he goes through it occasionally asking me a few questions and says, "Wait here for two minutes I need to conform it with Tori and then I'll get back to you" I simply nod and after a few minutes he comes back and says,

"You're accepted. Congratulations!" He then quickly goes over to explain what my work will be like, my salary and other stuff. He also mentions that though almost everyone has separate cabins they like to sit together at the desks outside and only use cabins to meet with clients.

I will be working with everyone for a while before I choose my speciality and that's fine by me. But just my luck I'll be working with Tris first. I am equal parts happy and anxious. Happy that I get to spend time with her and I'm determined to not screw up this time and anxious because I don't know how she'll react. I resist the urge to sigh loudly.

Will then shows me to my desk and as I come out I see Zeke run toward me, he pats me on the back and says, "I told you that you'd get it. And when are you starting work?"

"Tomorrow" I reply.

Zeke then says, "Sweet. Hey I have an idea let's go and celebrate your new job. There you can meet the rest of the team as we usually hang out together after work. So see you there at 5?"

"Yeah" I reply I am really in no mood for a party but for Zeke I agree to go so he won't bother me again. Plus Tris will be there so I can apologize properly to her as she hopefully will be in a good mood.

He says that he will meet up with me there a bit early so we can catch up without any interruptions. I agree and then Zeke takes me for a tour of the office.

I look around a bit awed. This place is huge. Zeke points out the conference room, the kitchen which he says is the most important part. Then he suddenly remembers something and his eyes go wide and he asks me a bit frantically, "Oh my God! You haven't tried the cake yet have you?"

"No, what's so special about this cake?" I ask him

He just smirks and says, "Wait and watch" It takes all my effort to not roll my eyes at him and he goes into the kitchen, opens the fridge and pulls out a cake. "This my boy is the best cake you are ever gonna eat. So prepare yourself."

I just laugh at his antics as he carefully cuts me a slice of the cake and puts it on a plate with a fork which he then gives to me.

As I start to eat I see him take out his phone but I ignore him and take a bite of the cake and as the chocolate melts in my mouth I without even thinking close my eyes and savour the taste. I hear Zeke laughing and see that he is recording my reaction. I am so happy I don't even yell at him. I just concentrate on eating the cake and once it's finished I ask Zeke what the recording was all about.

He chuckles and says," You should've seen your face. And that's a tradition when anyone tastes the cake for the first time. I have everyone's reactions on my phone."

I chuckle and tell him to show me later I spend some more time with him and Shauna and leave the office.

On my way down I just have the bad luck to meet the receptionist from earlier Nita. Great now I'm stuck here with nobody to save me.

"Hey Four" Nita coos

"Um hey Nita. Will you please excuse me I need to get going." I say

"Yeah I was just heading out as my shift ends soon. Let's go together." She says obviously not getting the hint.

Exasperatedly I say, "I am in a hurry so please excuse me" I practically push past her and leave her standing there staring dumbfounded at me. Once outside I breathe a sigh of relief and check my watch.

It's just 3:00 yet so I decide to go to the gym and check it out as soon as I enter I see Amar I go over and greet him.

"Hey Amar"

"Hey Four, so I'm guessing you got the job?"

"Yeah" I reply

"Shame I had a vacancy here but it's cool I have another person but no one's as good as you Four"

"Well what can I say I was trained by the very best" At that Amar looks at me with a proud glint in his eye and says, "Sure and you're welcome here anytime you like."

We chat for a few more minutes and then I bid goodbye to him and go back home. Marcus's car isn't here so that's good I get out and quickly change into a casual shirt and black jeans. I then head to the place I had agreed to meet Zeke. I go inside and find Zeke already seated there I drop into the seat beside him as he immediately starts talking, "So Four got any eyes on anyone yet?" He asks wiggling his eyebrows.

I groan and answer him no. But he must see something as he says, "Nope that's not true I know you are thinking of somebody just tell me who it is." He practically whines.

"Sheesh Zeke why are you suddenly behaving like a teenage girl?" I question him hoping to change the subject. "Nice try Four but I am not going to drop it." Goddammit why is he so stubborn.

"Fine Zeke I just met this girl at the coffee shop today and she was cute" I say hoping this will be enough but of course it isn't and he just starts interrogating me to which I give vague answers.

In the end I am so annoyed I just give him my death glare and he immediately shuts up I take the opportunity to say, "Now Zeke shut up and talk about something else."

Then he tells me about some of the cases he is handling. We continue to chat about work and Tris' name comes up occasionally I try to ignore the jolt that comes with it. How the hell did she manage to get in my thoughts so much. For god's sake I talked to her for a full two minutes. Zeke and Shauna have always teased me that I'm going to die alone.

To be honest no one ever really caught me eye most of them just wanted to get in my pants which I hate. Sure I've hooked up a few times but I've never had a serious relationship. Except for one.

But Tris she caught my eye. She is different than everyone else. I shake my head at my thoughts hoping no one noticed the dreamy look on my face. I listen to Zeke babbling half-heartedly by this time everyone has started coming and Zeke introduces them one by one.

I already know Uriah. He then points to his girlfriend Marlene who looks nice and then points to Lynn who definitely looks a bit scary with her buzz cut, tattoos and piercings. Then he points to Will who interviewed me today and then a tall girl with coffee coloured skin Christina she is very loud and annoying and asks me,

"Is your name Four as in the number?" I simply nod not wanting to elaborate but clearly she doesn't get the hint and says, "What?Were 1 to 3 taken?"

I shoot her my death glare and she immediately takes the hint and turns away and starts chatting to her friends. After about 5 minutes Zeke asks what I've been wondering since a long time Christina, "Hey Chris where's your bestie, Tris?"

She replies, "Oh she had a headache so she went home." I don't know why I feel so disappointed but then try to mask my expression. Damn that girl is destroying all my barriers.

"Poor thing I already told her not to work for so long she is always the last to leave." Zeke says

"Yeah I told her the same but she's working really hard on the case against Erudite and after all that happened I think she still feels a bit guilty." Chris says "I don't blame her but she will be sick soon if she keeps working like this. I have already told this to her a billion times but she won't listen."

I now am curious as to what happened and ask, "What happened? What are you all talking about?"

I am met with silence and everybody looks down and then Zeke clears his throat and says, "Sorry mate but it isn't our story to tell." That shuts me up and I know if Zeke is solemn about this then it must be pretty damn serious.

I just nod and try to diffuse the tension by saying, "So what do you guys usually do after work?" Everyone instantly chimes in and the mood is considerably lifted. They start sharing stories about the pranks in the office. I laugh along with them and for the first time I feel like I belong in a group.

I head home with happy memories, it's almost 11:00 and dread starts filling me in as soon as Marcus's house comes into my sight I silently park my car and get in the house.

I smell him before I see him he is standing at the top of the stairs and is reeking of alcohol. He comes near me then asks, "Where were you all day and why have you come back this late?"

"I was interviewing for a job and then I was with my friends, sir"

"Hmm I know just the punishment for this you know the drill." He says

I sink down to my knees and remove my shirt I want to defy but it feels too much he has too much power over me with just one word he can make me feel like that seven year old boy in the closet again.

After some time the hits and curses stop and I cautiously raise my eyes and see that Marcus is passed out. I leave him on the floor and then go upstairs my back feels as if it is on fire. I take out the first aid kit and clean myself and then go to sleep on my stomach.

As I sleep though I am eager to go to the office on my first day as it means more opportunities of staying away from him. In my dreams yes for the first time since coming here I dream of a blonde girl with the beautiful eyes.
