Tobias POV

As soon as I enter the office I see Tris sitting at her chair working on something. As I make my way over to her I remember yesterday's conversation at the gym.

Flashback

When I saw her hitting the punching bag like there was no tomorrow I was in awe of her. Damn! That girl could do anything I had stared at her for a while observing her stance it was almost flawless. I wonder from whom she had learnt.

After that I don't know what came over me but I placed a hand on her stomach. I heard her breathing hitch a bit, I smirked to myself knowing that I had that effect on her and then in a quiet voice say, "Keep tension here and use your knees and elbows more."

She then turned to look at me and we locked eyes for a second when I suddenly remembered that I still had a hand on her stomach so I removed it and quickly walked away without a word. I don't even know what I was thinking when I did that. It was like my hands placed themselves of their own accord.

And when I touched her I felt like my hand was on fire sending warm currents up and down my arm. Even when I was walking away my hand was tingling.

Then when I was talking with Amar she came in and jumped in his arms. For a second I was jealous but then dismissed it he was way too old for her and they looked like they had a father-daughter bond.

After that she agreed to help me and I was almost over the moon. It meant that I got to spend more time with her even though I couldn't say or do anything.

In my daze I didn't even realize that I had reached my desk and that Tris was snapping her fingers in front of my face.

I snapped myself out of it and said, "Yes?"

It came out a bit harsher than I wanted it to so I quickly apologized she just waved the apology away and said, "I just wanted to tell you that you will be working with Zeke today. You will work with everyone in the office at least once as you will later on have to choose a field to specialize in. Well I would've explained better but I have a case I need to attend to so I will see you later and Zeke will explain the rest. Alright?"

"Yeah sure. Have a great day" I say encouraging her though I am a bit sad that I won't get to work with her.

"Yeah you too. And one more thing don't daydream so much and you'll do great. Kay?" She teases with a smirk painted on her face.

"Yeah yeah Bye." I say slightly rolling my eyes at her.

She laughs and then waves leaving me alone to find Zeke.

As I'm searching for him I hear a high-pitched unfamiliar voice call my name and I turn to see who called. To my complete annoyance it's Nita. Great, just the person I wanted to see (note the sarcasm).

"Yes?" I ask in a harsh tone not wanting to deal with her right now. But to my annoyance she just chirps and says, "Jeez Four I just wanted to say good morning."

"Well good morning. Now if you'll excuse me I have to work." I have to practically bite my tongue to refrain from saying and so do you.

I just move past her and thankfully spot Zeke he is as always talking to Shauna. I approach them with a quiet good morning on my lips and after some small talk I tell Zeke that today I'm going to work with him. To which he nods and says,

"Oh yeah Tris mentioned that to me yesterday. Well we better get to work then." And we bid a goodbye to Shauna as she starts working too.

He leads me to his desk and begins, "So I am a criminal defence lawyer. Don't get the wrong idea we thoroughly check the background of the person we are defending and their story is cross-checked multiple times to determine whether they need our help or not. So that being said here are some files your task for today is to go through them and read everything try to find out which person you think is wrongly convicted by cross-checking the facts and proofs. And also gut feeling plays an important part here. Now get to work."

He says the last part with a smirk and I have no doubt that he is thoroughly enjoying bossing me around.

I just sigh. Today is really turning out to be great. Once again notice the sarcasm. I just shake my head and get to work on it. As I work I try not to let my thoughts wonder. But of course they do to the same girl who has been haunting my dreams. I shake my head and get back to work before I let my thoughts wander too far.

At about lunchtime I am almost done so I quickly finish up the rest and hand over the markings and notes I made on everyone to Zeke. He looks impressed.

"Well done Four you got it done in half time as me. Now as you're done you can go home. I have to meet Tori right now. So I'll see you later." He says as I nod and get up as I leave the office I'm thinking about what to do for the rest of the day.

I definitely can't go home if I can even call that place home. I need to move out soon so I decide to spend the rest of the day searching for new apartments. On the way I decide to take a walk through the park and I see Tris sitting on a bench alone. She looks lost I her thoughts so I decided might as well talk and get to know her more and started walking towards her.

"Hey" I say once I sat down beside her. She jumps slightly but then sees me and relaxes.

"Hey" She replies in a even voice.

"So what are you doing here?" I ask her

"Nothing. I was done for the day and wanted to spend some time alone." She says and her gaze becomes unfocused for a moment and I wonder what she is thinking about but decide not to ask.

"Well me too. So do you want to grab a bite in Divergent? I'm hungry." I say hopefully hoping that she'll say yes.

"Sure" She says with a shrug. And we begin walking to the café. We don't talk but the silence is comfortable. That is one of the things I like about Tris she doesn't feel the need to fill every silence with words.

In a few minutes we reach the café. And I being the gentleman hold the door open for her. Once I fall into step beside her she says teasingly, "Quite the gentleman, aren't you?"

I reply back jokingly and with an English accent, "Of course m'lady please take a seat" I say pulling back her chair for her before sitting down myself.

"Why thank you kind sir." She says with the same accent and then we both burst into a short fit of laughter. Once we have settled down we both order a plate of burger and fries. And the waitress tries to slip me her number at that Tris looks a bit…mad? Can she be jealous? Does that mean she likes me the way I like her?

I shake my head. Who could love a broken man like me? Still scared of his father. I shake my head and throw the paper away and look up to see that Tris has a grin on her face. I wonder why… I think I know but that won't be the case…right?

I just mentally slap myself and focus on her again which isn't that hard to do.

I begin with, "So I was thinking we don't know much about each other. How about we play 20 questions? You can ask anything and I will answer but you can choose not to answer too."

"Sure. I don't mind. I'll start. Hmm… What's your favourite color? Mine is black." She asks with a thoughtful expression on her face.

I grin and reply, "Me too"

We continue like this until I muster up some courage and ask about her family.

"So what about your family?" I ask her and she instantly tenses, hands clasped tightly in her lap and puts on a blank façade but I can still see underneath the cold, emotionless mask that there is a lot of pain in her eyes so I drop it and say,

"It's ok you don't have to tell me. Don't worry."

She just nods and after a moment says, "Thanks but I don't think I can talk about them. It's too much. But maybe someday I'll tell it all to you." Then she smiles a bit.

But then she asks about my family and I tense up too so she instantly drops it and starts apologizing but I cut her off saying, "It's alright. Maybe someday I'll tell you." I smirk at her

Then at the same time both of our phones buzz and I look to see a message from Zeke: We're going to the club at 6. See u there & don't be late.

I think Tris got the same message because she lets out a small groan. I say, "So I assume you got Zeke's invitation too. Don't worry I'll keep you entertained."

She just laughs and says, "Thank you for that but I'm really tired and clubs aren't my type of things. Although I will have to go I just have the option of going voluntarily or being dragged by my hair by Chris, Zeke or Uri. I think I prefer the luxury."

I just give her a smirk, "Don't worry if you get too tired just give me the word and I'll make up a excuse to get us out of there. To be honest clubs aren't my scene too." And its true I just prefer the quiet solitude of a café or even an apartment over club.

Then Tris says, "You know what? I might just take you up on that offer. So if it's decided that I am going I had better get ready because if Chris sees me enter the club in these clothes she will without a doubt murder me. Well I'll see you soon. Bye Four."

I just wave back and before I can protest she goes up at the register and pays for our meal. I am about to shout after her that she didn't have to do that but she just throws a smirk at me and walks out.

So I decide I'll get revenge later. And I know just how to do that. So I quickly whip out my phone and start texting her.
