Gotham City
"So this is Gotham City", said Barry, who watches over the windows. Barry seems unphased by this. He's heard rumours that Gotham is a dark place but considering he's experienced demons in other cities he wouldn't be that surprised to witness this place. Same goes for Felicity, Curtis, Nate, Ray and Cisco.
The plane reigns over every deceased soul that lies in Gotham. Gotham is heartless. No purity. Only death. Nothing can stop them from arising from the darkness.
"A word". Clark proposes Diana for a private talk, which the Amazonian accepts.
With the team busy skying over the city. The ruins. The smoke. The damage. Diana and Clark have a little talk for themselves.
"Firstly how'd you know that the invasion began?", Clark asks in learn. "Surely Bruce didn't contact you since he's one of them who's behind that plot". Clark points his finger over the damage in Gotham as soon as he mentioned 'plot'.
"An old friend from men's world", Diana defines. She seemed a lot sheepish with her answer but goes on. "Got in touch with me via signal".
"Steve Trevor?".
Diana didn't want to keep it from him but this is where they have to draw under. So the latter followed up with Superman's guess.
Clark was a bit off but knowing Diana as one her closest friends, he'd believe her every way. Even if the truth hurt. He was the reason after all. Why the team got separated.
"Do you ever believe that the world can be reborn? Diana?". Diana didn't know what to say. The air pollutes between them. Mostly from Clark and his pain. "I believe that I've failed this world. I should've left the planet with Lois when I had the chance. Maybe Earth didn't have to crumble".
"Don't say that". Diana gently places her hand on his shoulder. "If anyone is to blame. It's Lex Luthor". Diana was right. Luthor was the one who outed Superman's identity to the president. If it wasn't for him then they'd all live peacefully. Their jobs of being a hero would time stream on. To a new generation of heroes inspired from their previous heroes' selfless acts. Now it's blown like a balloon.
Clark smiles upon her comfort. Diana really was a good friend. He, Bruce and Diana all good friends.
Clark and Diana finished their privacy talk just when the rest finished learning enough of Gotham's destruction.
"The bat cave. Wonder what's in the bat cave?", Cisco excites though under considerable pain. Losing Ralph was the painful part.
"There are various weapons we could use from his vault", Clark answers.
"What kind of weapons?", Nate intrigued on seeing the Legendary Knight's toys.
"We're here to get guns. Every one of you needs to wield something. For defence. Obviously some of you already hold a power or ability or a weapon". Diana eyed point to Sara, Amaya, Nate, John, Rene, Dinah, and Curtis. They didn't need to show her. She knew all along.
"Wait I heard rumours that he doesn't use a gun", Iris remarks.
"No. He doesn't. But doesn't Batman, like all of you, cop with allies in his side", Clark refers to Alfred. The man who uses pistols, shotguns, machine guns and snipers. The very same man who's Bruce's butler. Diana and Clark didn't want to mention the Bat's civilian life. Since this is the most private part of his life. Bruce never trusted a soul on anyone even if they happen to be heroes from Central City or Star City.
The ship, that crossed through many dark clouds, lands in a graveyard.
"What are we doing here?".
Diana, whom ran the Jet, presses a button that made everyone's teeth glitter.
"A secret layer?"
"How many surprises does he have?"
"Is this GCPD's hideout?". Everyone glared over Felicity's question. "What? I still don't think he's real".
Everyone would laugh at her at high pitch over her stupid opinion.
The Jet shifts forward into what lies in that secret area.
After the plane stops its point, slowly through passage doors everyone jumped out.
The cave is as spookier as the surface. Bats crawling from the darkness. Hissing in notice of flesh. Looks like a mineshaft but the area is so big. Many would compare it to an actual cave.
"So this is what the bat cave looks like. So amazing", Barry remarks. Being a big fan of Batman. His moral side. He's got a lot of talents.
Cisco and Caitlin ran over to a display that features costumes of every robin hood.
"So cool", Cisco and Caitlin hoods their respect.
"What are those things over there?", Amaya arrows over a collection of features displayed like trophies.
"Mementos". Diana tours through Bruce's architect. Everyone joined up like a pile of children, following the big lady. Crossing through traits from Batman's rogue gallery. "To remind Batman that he will always save people. Even if they haste on the bad side. To never take a life. To not bring the fate of every other human into the same darkness these villains fell upon".
"Even I could never compare myself to a bad-ass like Batman", Barry confessed. Something Iris wouldn't approve. She'd compare the Knight to Green Arrow's crusade.
Same way they crossed through Batman's adversaries' display of features, they crossed paths with the Suit of Sorrows.
"What kind of tarnishing suit is that?"
"Suit of Sorrows. Private histories say that this suit enhances speed and strength. Though the fall down is that it corrupts the user's mind. Batman fell in deep aggression before someone revealed the suit's true nature. Batman displayed this suit as a reminder to always be vigilant. To build his moral codes. To against crime. And itself", Diana reasons over Bruce's idea of keeping it as a memento.
"Holds a lot of memory that'd draw a strict line. I like his style".
Diana exhibits her full attention to her new allies. "Took a toll on him in his crusade. Haunted him for over two decades". Diana comes out with. Something Clark felt sympathy for. Even Lois, whom knows the latter's civilian persona as Bruce. Since the two became good friends.
"So where's the weapons?", Rene rushes into the point. Not giving a damn about the Bat's crusade. It all meant garbage. Some weren't phased like John and Felicity in addition to Rene's side.
Diana points forward lockers that hid in them weapons for her allies to wield.
Everyone slowly paces over Diana's point of direction. Except Clark.
Clark wished he could a better friend for Bruce. Maybe help him.
"I know what Bruce did to you. And I'm sorry for what's happened to you", Diana trowels.
"I don't blame him Diana. I blame him. Darkseid".
With that said, Clark follows on to wield himself an armour but Diana... "Wait Clark". Clark stops where he is, facing back to her, whom gestured the man to follow her through a fake wall, which presents a secret room.
"What's this?", Clark probes in question.
"Batman's secret room. Though he may allow certain individuals to enter his cave, he still holds a lot of secrets". Diana exponents. "Batman once told me 3 years ago that if he ever was to go rogue. Or disappeared". Superman pays his ears to her. "And if Superman is dis-powered from a cause, then it'd be best for him to hold something far more deserving for his friend.
Clark wonders what Bruce gifted him for.
"He saw what you did decades ago. Clark. When you used his suit to fight crime after he left Gotham for a week. He believes that maybe you'll hold a bigger example of what the world should hold". A gate slices open in vertical axis form. Revealing a suit. The Dark Knight suit. But it's much more advanced. And its symbol, it blends Superman's symbol with Batman's. "Are you up to fulfil the World's Finest legacy? Clark Kent".
All Clark had was a big respect. He knew that he held contingency plans for his allies. But Clark knew deep down he had an extra plan should he ever go rogue. And should the Justice League ever fall.
"Where's Clark?"
"Right here"
Right before their very own eyes showcases Clark Kent dressed in his new suit. It's called the World's Finest suit. It wields multiple gadgets, weapons and strings to pull onto. So much Clark can use in his war. This suit was revealed to help Clark go on par with his cousin. Dark Supergirl.
Most of them almost fainted. And guessed that this is one of Batman's creations.
Everyone was ready. Everyone held various weapons in their arsenal. Even geniuses like Felicity and Iris. Diana has her amazonian powers. Clark is ready with his fancy new toys. Soon Kara and Oliver will have a taste of their own medicine.
