Chapter Two – Regrets
"Are you kidding me!?" Alicia scoffed, crossing her arms.
Well, I certainly hadn't expected her to be this mad.
"Alicia, I know I would be leaving, but my parents are still here, and you can visit me anytime!" Stephen reasoned.
"In another country?"
". . . well, yeah."
". . ."
". . ."
"Are you an idiot!?" She exclaimed.
"Hey, I don't want people to know that, *cough* anyways, I'm pretty sure I have enough money to pay for your trip. AND, we could see each other over the summer; think about it. A paid vacation to Japan during summer, what could be better?"
". . . Oh, alright." She sighed, "But remember, that's where hentai comes from, and you better not get into that stuff." She pointed a menacing finger at him.
"Jeez, okay!" My plan had worked, I would still be able to see her (over summer) and be in Japan; best day of my life!
The two kissed each other goodbye while the bell rang.
"I wonder what school in Japan will be like." His voice trailed off at the thought of attending school in another country. "This is awesome!"
He skipped his whole way to class, then to the principal's office for being late; then back to class.
Meanwhile, at the Otonokizaka school in Japan . . .
"I've had it! I'm done with the Debate Club!" Monika stormed out, fuming from the classroom, filled with awestruck students and teachers alike.
"How can they even want to get into that subject? I hate this." Suddenly, she stopped at a bulletin down the hallway.
It read, Baking Club, closed for irresponsible use. New club spot available, create one now!
"A new spot, huh?" She grabbed the paper, examining it closer.
"Monika, wait!" She heard someone say. Startled, she hid the flyer from their view, crumpling it into a ball and stuffing it into her blazer pocket.
"E – eh, yeah?" She turned around to see the Vice President of the Debate Club, a boy with rimmed glasses and brown, spiky hair. He looked like the type of nerd the old American movies would depict.
"Oh, what is it Togashi – kun?" She said, her tone relaxing.
"Well," he began, "I understand how you feel about politics and all, and I know you won't change your mind about leaving the club; but I hope you know I can't leave, I have so many people depending on me and -."
Monika swept in a hugged him. Monika, the third year hugging a first year, this must look ridiculous.
"I know, you always were passionate about the Debate Club. Understand, I'm not mad at you, just at the idea of the club itself, okay?" She released him, stepping back. "I'll see you later."
She waved him goodbye, and he waved back.
They split apart, going their separate ways for separate beliefs, but she knew, and he knew, it would not be the end of their friendship.
Author's note:
Well, that was dramatic, wasn't it?
I'm sorry if it was a little too dramatic, but I felt like I should explain why Monika decided to leave the Debate Club.
I think the next few chapters are going to be prequels to how Sayori, Natsuki and Yuri join the club, and of course, Stephen himself.
Until next time,
mate ne!
