Chapter Five – At the End of My Rope (I'm sorry)

"Ahhh! I'm gonna be late!" Sayori leaped out of bed and changed faster than a splitter being thrust into your foot.

She ran downstairs and got a Pop – Tart from the pantry on her way out, "Bye mom, dad!" She knew they were still asleep, but they would have to leave for dad's vacation, so it couldn't hurt.

She threw open the front door as a bright beam of light shone on her face.

"Gah, why is the sun so bright?" She rubbed her eyes.

"And why do my parents have alarms set? Don't they know it wakes me up?" She sighed, "I'll just have to wait to sleep in till they leave." Ah yes.

By the time she had reached the school, it was already thirty minutes till class. She sighed, wishing she had stayed in bed, nonetheless.

She walked through the gates and saw someone she had known. Well, not known, but they're that type of person everyone knows they exist, but no one really knows them.

It was Monika, of course.

For whatever reason, she was hauling supplies for, what looked like, a Debate Club poster.

But that couldn't be it. The Debate Club would set up something extravagant, not something make – shift. Monika neared her, and said, "You're Sayori right? Can you help me with this?"

Sayori was taken aback, "Why me?"

"Do you see anyone else in in the vicinity? Come one, here, carry this." She held out a pencil box, wanting her to take it.

Not wanting to be rude, Sayori took it, along with some other writing utensils, as the two headed to a spot to the right of the front gate she had previously entered.

"Wait, so, where are your Debate Club friends?"

"Oh, I quit that." Why would she quit?

"Oh really? Why?" The two set down their supplies, as Monika got out a smaller poster paper and began writing the words Join the Literature Club, next meeting: tomorrow, after school in room 244, sign up now!

She held it in front of Sayori for her to see.

"Oh, your joining the Chess Club?"

"Are you frickin' blind? No, the Literature Club, and not join, I'm making it!"

". . . why?"

"- why not?"

"No, you."

"Okay."

". . . okay."

. . .

"But, why would you make a club when you could practically be the president of any club you want?"

"Well, I don't want to be chosen because of how popular I am, I want to be chosen because of how good I would serve as the president."

"Oh, lame."

"What!?"

"Nothing, anyways, how many members do you have so far?"

"None, well, plus me, that's one."

"Oh, well -."

"Can you join?" Monika looked at Sayori with pleading eyes.

"U - um, w – well, I . . ." I don't want to be useless to her, if I don't, her club may not be accepted, "Umm, sure?"

"Oh, great! Thanks, Sayori, uh, I've got it from here, thank you, again!" Monika waved goodbye while she hurried off to set up the poster.

At least my life isn't going to waste, I can be useful . . . I can.

I can.

Author's Note:

Hello peoples,

So, I had received some confusion, and I just want to clear that up:

Yes, I know that Sayori was the first member to join (excluding Monika, who made it) but I wanted to add an authentic feeling. Thus, why I finished the characters' prequels out of order.

Also, things will change, you know, since it is fanfiction. I can't just keep it the same all the way through.

There may be added characters or things that hadn't happened in the original storyline, but that add a little spice to it (if you know what I mean). Warning: some major events also may take place, but if you want a good story, feel free to stick around!

Last thing, I promise; people have been saying the formatting gets messed up, and I can see that on my end as well. It just takes a while for the editing to go through, so give it some time, I beg of you.

Anyways, that's it,

until next time,

mate ne!
