"What?" he said. He started to cry too. Tears of joy.

"We are going to be parents," I say but then I realize something. My voice starts to shake.

"I have to go into the Games," I say frantically.

Peeta's face no longer shows happiness. It shows sadness and how scared he is.

"I'll go in to protect you," he says now crying sad tears.

"No Peeta! If I survive and you die our baby won't have a father!" I say. I am now crying.

"But he or she will have an amazing mother," he says.

"No! You can't go in! Haymitch can go!" I say trying to change his mind.

"Haymitch will help you get sponsors. You are not changing my mind on this. I am going in to protect you and my child."

I can't persuade him. He won't listen. Haymitch needs to go in so that we can both be parents to this child. I know it is selfish to think this but I have a family here. I can't lose Peeta.

*The next day*

As soon as Peeta left for the bakery I went over to Haymitch's house.

"You're back," he says as I walk through the door.

"You cannot back down on our deal, even if Peeta has made deals with you," I say in a stern voice to get my point across.

"Oh, and why is that?" he asks.

"I sit down and start crying.

"Haymitch, I'm pregnant," I say through tears.

"Why the hell did you think a baby was a good idea right now?" he yells as he stands up.

"It was an accident! I never wanted this to happen."

"I won't back down," he says.

"Thank you," I say and I stand up and hug him.

He pushes me away.

"But you need to do everything I say to ensure your survival," he says.

I left Haymitch's house knowing that Peeta will be safe. All I can do now is hope that I can survive and win for the sake of my unborn child.
