Throughout the week, we picked out our songs and started rehearsals for the dance. We're starting to sound more and more professional. Jiro and I have even been able to harmonize our voices way better.

Denki and I started to study together again and I even talked Aizawa into letting him retake the last two-chapter tests. He did pretty well on them. An 80% on one and 78% on the other. Aizawa was pretty impressed.

Nothing has really changed between Denki and me since we came back to school.

He moved from his seat next to Ojiro to the back with me but other than that, he's the same goofy self with me… just with a flirtier twist.

I still haven't told dad about it. I'm afraid of his reaction.

I stared at him from the couch as we watched TV. Dad was in his chair, switching his attention from Tv to his files.

He glanced up at me and I quickly looked away.

I heard him chuckle then he got quiet. I waited a few seconds and looked at him again.

He glanced up over his file again and I turned back to the TV.

I heard him let out a light laugh, "Maki, is there something I can do for you?"

I took a deep breath, gathering all of my bravery to tell him I have a boyfriend.

Dad sat his files in his lap, "My dear child, is something troubling you?"

I shook my head, "Well, no."

Before I could say anything else, there was a knock on the door. I started to stand but Mio waved her had as she walked by me to get it.

I watched her open the door and slap her hand over her mouth as she stifled a laugh. She looked over her shoulder at me, "Maki, it's for you."

I raised my brow and stood, "Who is it?"

She didn't answer, she just stepped aside.

I pulled the door open and froze at the sight.

Denki stood on the porch in a pair of nice pants, a black button-up and a nice coat with a bouquet of sunflowers, "Hiya!"

I was so confused, "Denki, what are you doing here? Did you bring me flowers?"

"No." He said, straightening his shirt out, "These are for your dad."

I stepped aside, further confused, "Uhh, dad, the door is for you."

I heard him get up from his chair, "For me? I'm not expecting anyone. Oh, young Kaminari, what can I do for you?"

He held the flowers out, "These are for you, sir!"

Dad was surprised and a little skeptical, "You bought me flowers?"

He nodded, "Yes."

A smile formed on dad's face, "I've… I've never received flowers before! What do I owe this pleasure?"

I shook my head, "This is weird."

Dad gave me a Mio glare, "Don't ruin this for me."

Wow.

Denki bowed, "Sir, I come baring these flowers so that I could ask you a question."

Dad waved him in, "Of course, I'll get these in some water."

Denki smiled at me as we followed dad to the kitchen, "Sir, I've come to ask for your daughters' company on a date as well as to ask if I could court her… you know, like be my girlfriend."

Dad was surprised, "I know what court means. Do you want to date my daughter? Which one?"

"Sure, as hell ain't me!" Mio shouted from the living room, still laughing.

Denki let out a nervous laugh, "Umm, Maki is the one I like."

Dad raised his brow, "And what's wrong with my Mio?"

"Dad!" Mio and I shouted.

Denki waved his hands in a panic, "Nothing, sir, nothing at all! She's great! I mean, she doesn't like me that much so I that's one thing and Maki, she's special. She's amazing."

I smiled and felt the warmth in my heart.

My dad took a deep breath, "I see, she's really important to you?"

Denki nodded, "Yes sir!"

I shook my head, it sounds like he's talking to a drill sergeant.

Dad nodded, his hand on his chin like he's thinking this over hard, "I see, I see."

Denki's eyes started to dart between me and dad, he's panicking, "So, what do you say, sir?"

Dad looked at me, his detective eyes on, "Maki, do you like this boy?"

I nodded, no hesitation.

"And do you think he's going to treat with respect and dignity?"

I nodded again.

Dad looked back at Denki, "Do you remember what I told you the night of the charity event?"

He nodded, "Yes, sir!"

Dad took a deep breath, "Alright, you can date my daughter out."

Denki gained a large smile, "Thank you, sir, this is so cool!"

Dad checked his watch, "I want her home before 9."

Denki bowed, "Of course! I will take great care of her, sir."

He nodded, "Have fun you two."

Denki grabbed my hand and started to lead me out. I panicked slightly, "Wait, we're going now?! And where are we even going?"

He nodded, "Yeah! We're on a time crunch and a magician never reveals his secrets!"

I looked down at my clothes, "But I'm a little underdressed."

He raised a brow and his eyes looked over me in my band tee and leggings. He shook his head, "I think you look perfect."

The smile formed on its own from his compliment, "Thank you but you're dressed way nicer than I am."

He gave me a devious smirk, "My, Maki, are you hitting on me?"

I shook my head, hiding my blush.

He let out a light laugh, "Here. This should make you feel better."

"I don't need to be here for this."

I looked up and saw him starting to unbutton his shirt, I shook my head, "Uhh, what are you doing?!"

He pulled it over his head and straightened his white undershirt, "This better? Now you look way cooler than me!" He grinned.

I smiled again, my heart fluttering, "Fine, let's go."

He beat me to the car, opening the door for me, "My lady."

I felt my cheeks heat up as I slid into the seat.

Denki didn't say anything as we drove. I think he's trying not to tell me where he's taking me. After all, a magician never reveals a secret.

I was confused when we pulled up to a line of old buildings. I've never been here before… I don't think I've ever even driven by here, "Denki, where are we?"

"You'll see." He said as he got out, running to open my door, "Come my dear."

I followed him to the door slowly, I can't tell if these buildings are residential or businesses, they don't look like restaurants. Where are we?

Denki stood by the door, pulling it open with a huge smile on his face.

I walked in and my jaw dropped, the smell of old books tickled my nose, I felt like squealing, "Is this a bookstore?"

He nodded as he looked around the room, "I remember you saying something about loving things with history while we studied once and I know you love books so I figured a used bookstore is the best place to take you!"

I was shocked. It's beautiful.

Denki put an arm around my shoulders, "So, I was thinking, you could pick one book and then we could go to the park and you could read it to me."

I felt my heart start to race. He's planned a perfect date for me.

We walked through the stacks, I was mesmerized, "How do I choose just one?"

Denki let out a nervous laugh, "Because, although I'd love to, I can't afford to get you more."

My jaw dropped, "You don't have to get me a book if you can't afford to."

He waved his head, shaking his head, "Nonsense, I can afford one book! It won't break the bank!"

The urge to squeal was back, "Denki, this is amazing. What kind of book are you in the mood for? Help me choose?"

His eyes shined brightly as he nodded, taking my hand and walking me through the stacks.

We looked through every row, there were so many good options, every book was in amazing condition. I could live here and be happy. I wouldn't need anything.

Denki grabbed a book from the top shelf and looked at it, reading the dust jacket, "What about this one?"

He handed me the book, Harry Potter, the first one. I raised my brow, "You've never read Harry Potter?"

He shook his head, "No."

"Have you watched the movie?"

He continued to shake his head.

I smiled, "Harry Potter it is then."

I tried to walk away but he stopped me, "Have you read it?"

I nodded, "Many times." It was one of the books mom used to read to Mio and me.

He shook his head, "Never mind, I don't want you to be bored."

I held the book closely, "Oh, trust me, I don't mind. This is the book. It's one of my favorites."

He gave me an unsure look before he smiled and we walked to the register.

I flipped through the pages as we drove to the park, this book is well-loved but still good. I love used bookstores, "I can't believe you knew about a used bookstore in town and I didn't."

His long fingers tapped the steering wheel, "Well, I did a lot of research to find it and I asked Mio if you'd ever been and she said no so I knew it was perfect."

I felt the flutter all throughout, the effort he's put into this, "Denki…"

He smiled, "I wanted our first date to be special."

I shyly chewed on my lip, "It's my first date, ever, so it's definitely special."

At the park, we walked to a nice shady tree, Denki laid out a blanket and I sat down, "Ready?"

He shook his head, "I will be right back."

I raised my brow as he ran back to the car.

I watched as he struggled to get a basket out of the trunk. It was hard not to laugh. He was struggling.

He made his way back and set the basket down gently, "I also brought food!"

I was shocked, "What did you bring?"

He sat down and opened the basket, "I brought you fries! And me, a cheeseburger."

My jaw dropped at the bowl he brought out, "Is that for us to share?"

He shrugged, "We can share but they're mainly yours."

I plucked one, they're still warm too.

Denki smiled as I ate the fries, "Is it good?"

I held my thumb up, eating a few more.

He pulled out a bottle of juice, "Beverage?"

I smiled, nodding.

He started to pour the glasses. He smiled at me like he was trying to impress me with the way he poured two glasses in one hand. It was cute and I could look away. Then, one of them ended up tilting and before I knew it, I was covered in juice.

I immediately moved the book and stood.

Denki jumped up, "Oh my god! Maki, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. I'm sorry."

I started wringing the juice from my shirt, "It's okay, Denki, it was an accident."

He groaned and his head fell, "It's not okay, I'm ruining this date."

I was confused, "Denki, what are you talking about? It's not ruined." I'm having a great time.

He crouched down, holding his head, "I'm messing this up. I wanted everything to be perfect. You deserve perfect. Especially since it's your first date ever."

I knelt beside him, a hand on his back, "Denki, it's not ruined, you didn't mean to spill the juice on me. I know that. It's okay. I'm still having a great time. How could I not? I'm with you."

He lifted his eyes to me, "Are you really?"

I nodded, "I am. The fries were yummy and I can't wait to start reading."

A faint smile formed on his lips, "Maki, my buzzy beautiful sunshine nugget, please, read to me."

I nodded and moved back to the tree, "Come here."

He sat beside me as I started the book. Just as good as I remember it. Every time I glanced at Denki, I knew I had his complete attention. He was just as enthralled in the story as I had been when I was little reading it with Mio.

After a few chapters, Denki moved from sitting next to me to laying his head in my lap. I felt the blush in my cheeks but I kept reading.

He was so still and quiet, I thought he'd fallen asleep until I felt his hand on my leg, he squeezed softly.

My heart was racing, my leg has never been touched there.

The sun got low and it was getting harder to see the pages, so, I closed the book, "Well?"

He smiled up at me, "I can't wait until you can read more to me."

He rolled on his side, nuzzling against my stomach, "What house do you think you'd be in?"

I sighed, "I'm a Ravenclaw."

He chuckled, "You don't sound happy about that."

I shrugged, "I wanted so badly when I was little to be in Gryffindor and when mom found the test she had Mio and I take it. I get Ravenclaw every time and Mio is Slytherin, she's content with that."

He laughed, "Of course she is, what test?"

I shrugged, "The official test made by the writer so people can know their houses."

He smiled, "And what about me? Where do you think I'd be? Maybe I should take the test."

I subconsciously ran my fingers through his hair as I thought about it, "Hmm, I'd probably have to say Hufflepuff."

"Why?" He hummed.

I shrugged, "Well, you're so nice it's almost a fault and you work hard, whether it be for the band, class, or even our date. And you're so patient with me."

He raised a brow, "I'm patient? That's never been used to describe me."

I shrugged, "Well, you are. You're my first boyfriend and the way you asked me was so gentle and you did it at my pace, you haven't tried to move too fast since being together, and you aren't pressuring me."

He wrapped his arms around my waist, "I only want to make you happy."

I smiled, my fingers still going through is soft yellow hair, playing with the black stripe, "You do."

Oh, man, you do.
