Denki loaded the basket and blanket in the trunk, "So, we still have time to hang out."
I nodded, not wanting tonight to end, "We can go back to my house, you could take the Hogwarts test."
His eyes lit up and he nodded, "Yes! And that way, I can't break your dad's curfew because you'll already be home!"
I let out a small laugh. He's so cute and it feels good that he actually wants to hang out with me.
As we pulled away from the park, I looked out and saw plenty of couples, there for a date like we were. They were snuggled up, holding hands, and some of them were kissing, light soft kisses, and full-on making out.
I looked over at Denki as he drove. He's never tried to kiss me, we don't often hold hands, tonight was the first time he's gotten close in a way other than a hug. I know he's trying to go a slow pace for me but I want to know what it's like to kiss him.
I've appreciated his patience with and I meant every word I said to him before.
"What's wrong?" He asked, looking over at me.
I shook my head, looking down at my feet, embarrassed, "Nothing, it's nothing."
He gave me a suspicious glance, "I don't believe that."
I shrugged, "I swear, nothing."
His hand reached across, taking mine, "Come on, don't hide things, tell me, you can tell me anything."
I shrugged, "I just wanna know why you haven't tried to kiss me?"
He looked surprised, "Uhh, I-I thought that's something you wanted me to be slow with."
I picked at a string on my shirt, "I don't know… I wouldn't mind. But you don't have to if you don't want to."
He let out a laugh, "You think I don't want to kiss you?! Please."
I felt slightly embarrassed and I looked away, "It's stupid, never mind, we can change the subject."
He reached for my hand again but I pulled away out of embarrassment, he's just trying to be considerate and I accuse him of not wanting to. I'm stupid.
"Hey," His voice was soft, "Did I upset you?"
I shook my head but didn't say anything, I'm screwing up this whole girlfriend thing.
We pulled up to the house and I heard him take a deep breath, "Before we go in, please, tell me if I upset you."
I shrugged, "I'm not upset, just embarrassed."
"Why?"
I hid my face in my hands, "I'm doing this whole girlfriend thing wrong."
"No, you're not."
I nodded, "I am. I read books with couples in them, I watch romance movies and shows, and I see everyone around me in a relationship, they are all affectionate, PDA galore but we don't do anything."
"Maki…"
I sighed, "I know I'm making a bigger deal than I should be but it just got me thinking."
He reached out to me again, this time, I didn't move away, he interlaced his fingers with mine and squeezed, "Maki, I do want to kiss you, I do want to give you PDA galore but I want to make sure you're comfortable with everything. I want to move at your pace. It would be totally uncool of me to rush you because I want some action. I'm here for a long time not just a good time."
I was surprised.
"And about doing this whole girlfriend thing wrong," He continued, "You aren't. You're a pretty good girlfriend."
He squeezed my hand, "If you want to kick it up on the PDA I'm down for it but only if it's okay with you."
I heard him let out a shy laugh, "I… I would… you know… like, kiss you now, if you didn't mind."
I looked up at him, his cheeks pink, I felt the heat in my own cheeks, "That would be okay."
His face lit up with excitement, he leaned forward, his hand caressing my cheek, "Are you sure you want me to kiss you?"
I nodded, fixating on his lips, they look soft.
He leaned closer and I felt his lips brush against mine. He didn't actually kiss me and I'm sure he's smiling. I think he's teasing me.
I started to pull away but he kept me close to him, a light laugh escaping his lip before he finally pressed them against mine. I felt my heart racing, fireworks going off in my stomach. It was nice. His lips are soft, warm. I could taste the salt from his food.
He pulled away and looked into my eyes, "Oh yeah, that's something I want to keep doing."
"R-Really?"
He nodded, "Hell yeah."
I felt his thumb run across my cheek, "One more time?"
I nodded.
He pressed his lips to mine again, pressing a little more this time. The fireworks were worse this time.
Before I knew it, he pulled away, sitting back in his seat, "I had better stop now." He laughed.
I didn't know what to say, I could still feel the tingle from the kiss. I've never been kissed before.
Denki let out a laugh, "Are you okay?"
I nodded, "Yeah…"
He sighed, "We should probably get you inside before your dad thinks I'm taking advantage of you in a parked car."
I shrugged, "Or Mio starts spying."
As we got out he pointed to the front window, "A little late for that."
I looked over his shoulder, and sure enough, Mio was peeking through the blinds. I rolled my eyes, "I'll kill her."
Denki put his arm around my shoulder, "Come on, my Buzzy Beautiful Sunshine Nugget, no need for such violence."
I wanted to laugh, "Why do you call me that?"
He raised a brow, "What do you mean?"
"Buzzy Beautiful Sunshine Nugget, I've never heard that before. Why do you call me that?"
He shrugged, "Well, I know it's a mouth full but you remind me of a little bee, you're determined when you do something, and of course you're beautiful, and you're bright like sunshine, and I feel like nugget ties it all together. Besides, I wouldn't dare call you something as common as babe, you deserve a special name."
I smiled, he's so cute.
He took my hand, leading me to the door, "Come on, let's go find out what Hogwarts house I am."
When we came inside, Mio acted like she hadn't been spying on us.
I shook my head and we went to my room.
I started to close the door but Denki stopped me, "Wait, don't."
I raised my brow, "Why?"
He pulled the door open, "Your dad could put me in the slammer. I'm too cool for jail."
I let out a laugh, "You're so silly."
I sat at my desk and booted up my computer, "Okay, come take the test."
He took my seat and went through the questions. I couldn't help but laugh as he debated the questions with himself. He took this as seriously as one of Aizawa's tests.
When he was done, he smiled, "You were right! I'm Hufflepuff! Dedicated! And loyal! I can't believe you were right!"
I shrugged, "I've read the books a million times."
He rolled the chair closer, "My cute little bookworm."
I felt the heat in my cheeks, he's so close.
He leaned in, putting his hands on the bed next to my hips, "I can't wait to continue reading that book with you."
I smiled, "Me either."
He leaned closer, "Maki, I had a great time tonight."
I smiled, "Do you really think I'm a good girlfriend?"
He shrugged, "You're the best I've had."
I shook my head, "Denki, we've been together for less than a month how can you already know that?"
He shrugged, "Well, you're the coolest chick in our class and my last girlfriend did nothing but talk bad about me behind my back."
I was shocked, "Your last girlfriend?"
He nodded, "I dated the daughter of one of my parents' friends last year. We were together for like three months until I heard her telling her friends I'm dumber than a bag of rocks."
My jaw dropped, how could she?
He sighed, "I ended things with her and she told everyone she dumped me because I couldn't keep up with her intellectually. Plus, she was cheating on me the entire time."
Before I could think, I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
He was shocked, "Maki?"
I buried my face in his neck as he wrapped his arms around me, "I would never cheat on you."
He squeezed me, "I know." I heard him take a deep breath, "My buzzy beautiful sunshine nugget."
I pulled away from him, "I think I'm going to call you my Pika Pika."
He raised his brow and laughed, "Why?"
I shrugged, "You remind me of a Pikachu from Pokémon."
He smiled, "He was my favorite Pokémon as a kid."
I laughed, "I am not surprised."
Denki brushed his nose against mine, "I hate to say it, my Buzzy Beautiful Sunshine Nugget, but it's getting late. I should get going."
I felt the pout form on my lips, "No way."
He nodded, "I want your dad to continue to like me so I'm going to do everything I can to ensure it!"
I sighed and stood, "Fine, I guess you can go."
He bowed, "Thank you so much for the permission."
He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close, "I'm so happy you're a part of my life."
I held him tightly, "Don't go."
He sighed, "Until next time, my dear."
He leaned down, kissing my cheek before he started walking away.
"Don't forget to text me when you're home."
I sighed and laid out on my bed. Tonight, was so crazy.
"Well?" Mio asked as she walked in, "How'd it go?"
I rolled over, looking at her, "He took me to a bookstore and bought a book we could read together then took me to the park for a picnic."
Mio smiled, "That's so cute and kind of unexpected from sparky boy."
I shrugged, "He was absolutely sweet."
She nodded, "And I saw that kiss."
I rolled my eyes, "Of course you did. Were you sitting by the window the entire time I was gone."
She shook her head, "No, I was on the phone with Bakugo for the first half-hour, you were gone."
She crawled in bed, "What did you guys read?"
I smiled, "Harry Potter."
She was surprised, "You haven't read that book since we were kids."
I nodded, "I know. But he's never read it so he's new to it."
She laid and stared at the ceiling, "So, what house is he in?"
I smiled, "Hufflepuff."
She was impressed, "Not surprised, it fits."
We laid there for a while and I started to get tired until my phone buzzed:
Denki: I'm home my sweet honey bee ?
Me: Good ?
Denki: I miss you already ?
Me: You're cute ?
Denki: I'm gonna shower then get to bed, ttyl?
Mio sighed, "Are you nervous about the dance?"
I shook my head, "No, I think we'll do well."
She nodded, "Has Denki asked you?"
I shook my head again, "No, we're performing I don't think we'll have time to dance."
She shrugged, "Jiro said you weren't performing through the whole dance."
"When?" I asked.
"She said something about it a few days ago," She sighed, "You were reading."
Makes sense.
I've never been asked to a dance. I wonder if Denki's planning to ask me. I haven't thought about so I doubt he has.
I blushed at the thought of dancing with him.
I hope he does.
