I am woken up by my prep team. As I get up to leave Peeta opens his eyes. I lean for him and give him a big hug.
"I love you Peeta," I say.
"I love you too Katniss," he replies.
I pull away and then I lean in and give him a big kiss.
As I leave the room Peeta says, "Katniss." I turn around. "I'll be waiting for you."
I run back and hug him one more time.
"Stay alive," he says and then I am forced to leave. I am led to a room to put on this year's clothes. A blue jumpsuit, undergarments, and a black belt. Once I am ready Cinna takes me to the hovercraft and as I am frozen on the ladder my tracker is put in.
After a while the windows go dark and I know we are near the arena. I naw on my cheek and wait nervously to arrive.
I was led to an underground room where my tube was. As Cinna and I waited for the voice to tell us that I need to go into the tube Cinna takes out my mockingjay pin and secures it on my jumpsuit.
"Thank you," I say as I tear up. "For everything."
"Remember I am still betting on you Girl on Fire," he says and pulls me in for a hug.
We stand there for a short time when I hear the voice.
"Time for launch," it says.
I want to run. I want to hide, but I have to get in that tube. I pull myself together and give Cinna one last hug and then I step into the tube. As it rises I see Cinna watch me go. I might never see him again and as much as it hurts me it also hurts him.
Cinna disappears and I am submerged in darkness. When light appears I can tell it's very bright. My eyes don't focus fast enough for me to see what's around me. As I try to adjust to the light I see waves on the ground. When I can finally see, I see water spread out in all directions and I can only make one clear thought.
This is no place for a girl on fire.
