I look around but I can't find Haymitch. All I see are other tributes standing the same distance apart on their pedestals in the water. There are long strips of land separating the water into wedges with two tributes per wedge. As I look at the cornucopia I see a bow and a sheaf of arrows. I am not the best swimmer but I need to get to that bow.
As the timer counts down I get ready to dive into the water. When the cannon goes off I dive into the water and swim as fast as I can to the strip of land to my left. I pull myself up and run as fast as I can towards the cornucopia.
I am the first one to arrive and I quickly grab the bow and arrows and turn around just in time to shoot Brutus in the leg. It doesn't kill him but it slows him down as he falls into the water.
I turn to shoot the person coming up next to me but as soon as I load the bow Finnick Odair holds up his wrist and I see a gold bracelet on it.
"Good thing we're allies right?" he says.
"Where did you get that?" I say but he doesn't answer. All he says is duck before he throws his weapon at a pursuing tribute behind me, killing her.
"Hold them off. Don't trust 1 and 2," he says as he pulls his trident out of his victim. "I'll go find Haymitch."
Allies? I never chose Finnick as an ally. Who gave him that bracelet.
"Katniss he's over here! Mags found him," Finnick yells back at me.
I grab another bow and sheaf of arrows and run towards Finnick. I see Haymitch in a hand to hand combat fight with another male tribute. Before I know what I'm doing I load my bow and shoot the man fighting Haymitch.
"I could have done that by myself," Haymitch says as he grabs some knives.
"Let's go!" Finnick yells as he pulls Mags up on his back.
We run as fast as we can to the surrounding jungle to hide from the other tributes. We start to search for water. For hours we look and there is no water in sight. I climb a tree and look to see if I can spot any water. I can't. The only water source in the whole arena is salt water.
As we go deeper and deeper into the jungle Haymitch seems very alert. Finnick is up ahead cutting a path so that we can get through. All of a sudden Hymitch yells.
"Stop!"
"What's wrong Haymitch?" I ask.
"Stop. We are getting too far," he says and he picks up a small rock. He takes the rock and throws it as hard as he can in front of us and instead of it going several feet, it goes just a few feet in front of us and bounces back.
"The forcefield," Haymitch says. "The end of the arena. Let's go this way."
That's when I see it. A slight shimmer in the trees in front of me.
"Hang on," I say and I climb a tree. At the top I look up and see the same slight shimmer up above when I turn my head the right way. I load my bow and shot an arrow up and it bounced off the forcefield above us.
"It's a dome," I say as I reach the bottom of the tree. "The arena is a dome and we are trapped inside.
