I load my bow and carefully step back. The monkey attacks. I shoot it with an arrow and run. I run back to Haymitch and FInnick who both have their weapons out. We fight the oncoming monkeys but it seems that once we kill one, three more come in its place.

"Go to the jungle!" Haymitch yells. "We can hide!"

I don't think this is a good idea but Finnick and Haymitch take off so I go with them. I can't do this on my own.

I was right. The jungle was a horrible idea. Monkeys were everywhere and they quickly surrounded us. Fighting one after the other, I was cornered by a tree. I was out of arrows. I left my other sheaf on the beach. I stood there as a monkey approached knowing that this was it. I was going to die at the hands of a Capitol mutt.

Just as the monkey started to jump at me, someone jumped in front of me and was attacked by the mutt. Finnick ran to me and stabbed the attacking monkey and I grabbed the girl who jumped in front of it.

"Get back to the beach!" I yelled.

Finnick helped me with the girl and all three of us ran to the beach. There I carried the girl out into the water. I knew as soon as I saw the wounds that she was not going to live. They were deep in her stomach and she was bleeding out too quickly.

"Hey," I said softly. She was struggling to breath.

"Look up. See the beautiful sky?" I said and pointed to the amazing sunrise above.

She watched the sky until the cannon went off. I closed her eyes and floated her out into the water. I went back to the beach and watched the hovercraft pick her body up and take her away. Why would she have sacrificed herself for me? I didn't even know her name.

The monkeys were gone by the time I went back to Haymitch and Finnick. I collected my arrows from the dead ones and cleaned them in the salt water. I went back to get my other sheaf of arrows and then I joined Finnick and Haymitch on the beach.

"I'll watch, get some rest," Finnick says.

Haymitch was already asleep and I instantly fell asleep next to him. I slept until I was woken up by the sound of screams.

Sitting up I saw a huge wave come out of the jungle and into the water in one of the wedges across from us. After the wave had settled a hovercraft came and picked up a body out of the jungle.

"You are not wearing the ring from the Capitol," I hear Finnick say as he gestures at my new ring. Haymitch was still asleep.

"Peeta gave it to me when we got married," I say.

Just then I hear more voices not too far from us. I shake Haymitch awake and we behind a nearby bush. Finnick looks at the people coming out of the jungle and his face lights up.

"Johanna!" he yells and he runs towards her.

"Finnick!" she yells and Haymitch runs toward her too.
