*The next day*
It is early morning when I get a knock on our front door. Peeta gets up to answer because I am feeding Daisy. I see from the living room who the person is. Effie.
"Ah Katniss, she is beautiful," Effie says as she walks into the room.
"Thank you," I say back.
I see that she has brought Peeta and I's Entire prep team along. Cinna comes over and gives me a hug.
"It's nice to see you Katniss," he says.
"What are you all doing here?" I ask.
"President Snow wants an interview announcing the birth of your child," Effie answers.
Peeta and I both moan. Haymitch was right. Once we are victors we never get to have a private life. Now we have to broadcast our baby onto national television and we don't even get a say.
"Oh, can I hold her," Effie says impatiently. I hand her Daisy and Cinna puts his hand on my shoulder.
"Peeta can stay with Daisy. We need to get you ready. After you are done, Peeta can get ready for the interview," he says and takes me upstairs. I don;t want to leave Daisy but I know I have to.
Cinna and puts me in a beautiful blue and black dress and then my prep team takes over with my hair and makeup. For once they just do my hair naturally without a bunch of products and they use very little makeup on my face. I look beautiful but more like myself.
Finally, they release me to go back downstairs to Daisy. I am now alone with Effie.
"Haymith would have loved her," she said. All I can do is nod while tears fill my eyes. I know this is true. Even though Haymitch and I had our fights, he still loved me like a daughter.
Portia finally releases Peeta and he comes back down to me and takes Daisy. Effie goes to the other room to check on the camera crew.
"They are ready for you," she says as she comes back into the room.
Peeta and I go into the office where the cameras are set up and get ready for the interview. At 6 o'clock we hear the music and then Caesar's voice comes through a little speaker.
"Our star crossed lovers are here to tell us something special that happened last night!" we hear him say. "So tell us Katniss and Peeta, what do you have to announce." That's when the camera guy nodded his head indicating that we were being filmed.
Peeta and I both held Daisy as he said the announcement.
"We would like to announce the birth of our child, Daisy Mellark," Peeta said.
"Oh my gosh!" Caesar said. "Our star crossed lovers from District 12 are parents! I am so happy for you two. Tributes and Victors at 16, a mentor and tribute and Victor at 17, and also parents at 17. We love you!"
The lights went out and Caesar's voice disappeared. Now all of Panem knows about Daisy.
