Today we have the tribute interviews. I spent all morning with Finn preparing him and then I spent the afternoon with Prim. After we had done all we could, Peeta and I sent them down to their stylists to be dressed for their interviews.
As they wait in line for their turn I watch the interviews on the small TV where we wait. These tributes are huge. Lots of muscle and weight. They could survive days without food. Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 go by. All of them got high training scores yesterday. I have no doubt that 1, 2, and 4 will team up as the career pack.
When the girl from 10, Amelia was almost done with her interview, Prim came up behind me.
"Katniss," she says.
"Prim you need to be in line," I say.
"What am I supposed to do in this?" she asks.
My eyes tear up as I say this to her. "Make sure they remember you."
Prim is taken to the entrance to the stage as Layke finishes his interview. Finally, after he leaves Caesar announces Prim.
"From District 12, the sister of the Girl on Fire, Primrose Everdeen!" he says excitedly.
Prim walks out in her beautiful, long, sky blue dress and sits down in the chair next to Caesar.
"Ah so Primrose or Prim? Which do you like?" he asks.
"Everyone calls me Prim, including Katniss," she says. So far so good. Peeta is now next to me holding my hand.
"So Prim," Caesar says. "How do you feel about being reaped once again to go into the Games?"
"I think it's completely unfair," Prim answers. She is getting mad. "Out of thousands of names mine was picked not once but twice. I bet the reaping was rigged to make sure I got picked once again." Oh no. Now she's done it.
"I don't think that is possible," Caesar says. "I just think you have extremely bad luck." He laughs and so does the audience. "Are you prepared for the Games Prim?"
"I am as prepared as anyone can be," she says. "I want to come home for Katniss."
"I bet you do," he says. "I hope the odds are in your favor." With that the buzzer goes off and Prim leaves the stage. Finn walks on and his interview starts. Finn is a lot calmer and explains how his life at home affected his ability to use a weapon. He didn't mention the weapon though. That's a smart move. He and Caesar made the audience laugh several times until his buzzer went off.
Back at the apartment, I could hear the sounds of Prim's tears in my room as I lay with Peeta. He and Daisy are fast asleep but all I can think about is that the Games start tomorrow and that I might lose my sister.
