Author's Notes From Prism: Written for my older brother, who I know has read fanfiction before.
I know he likes Sonamy. Not an absolute craze of mine, but I can write it decently.
Not gonna write a whole lot here, but some aspects of this story reference stuff we've done in real life.
Sonic rapped on Tails' door, hoping for a quick answer. Last week, he and Amy were in Mobius' metropolitan area when they encountered a group they did not expect: Knuckles and Vector on a double date with Perci and Staci, the bandicoot twins. They seemed to be enjoying themselves for the brief time that they talked. Sonic smiled as Tails opened the door.
"Yo! Amy and I have an idea. Double date with you and Zooey?" Sonic asked.
"Uh… S-Sure, I guess." Tails stuttered. He didn't appreciate it when Sonic asked about him and Zooey. It made him feel uncomfortable, but he couldn't turn down the opportunity.
"You got anything pressing going on? We intended to make it tonight, and I kinda banked on you saying yes. How does 6PM sound?"
"I'll have to ask Zooey first. Where should we go?"
"You ever heard of Jack's Tavern, just across the channel?" Sonic teased. Of course Tails knew where that is. He and Zooey had been on many dates there and he knew the businessman himself.
"I'm liking where this is going." Tails responded. "Come in." Sonic entered Tails' house, getting some welcome relief from the chilling wind.
"Well, the ferry crosses the Seaside Channel at 5:40 tonight, and we can be on that."
"And I've got a second idea to propose, Sonic. You remember that movie theater we passed in Sand Blast City? They've got a showing of Free the Legion at 7:10. How about we take the girls to dinner and a movie?"
"Alright, I'll ask Amy about the movie idea, and you ask Zooey about the whole deal. Let me know when you get a response. Besides, Sand Blast City is a desert! It should be a relief from the freeze."
"Alright, good to know. See ya soon."
"Catch ya later."
Tails smiled as he called Zooey, happy with the idea.
"Hi Tails!" Zooey greeted. It warmed his heart to hear that.
"Hey, Zooey. I'm not gonna waste your time; are you free tonight?"
"Ooh, I like the sound of that! I don't have anything planned. What's on your mind?"
"Sonic just came over and asked me about a double date. Him and Amy, me and you at Jack's Tavern. After that, Free the Legion is playing at Sand Blast Cinema. It's going to be a lot warmer there than here. You in?"
"Aw, come on, sweetie. You know I can't resist that!"
"YES! I was really hoping you'd- Uh, I meant that sounds good. The ferry takes off from the docks at 5:40. How about I drive over to your place around 5:20?"
"What time will we get home?"
"Well, I'd say it would be something around 9:30. Is that a problem?"
"It's supposed to start snowing at 8."
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll be here to warm you up. I'll bring you some hot cocoa once we arrive, what do you say?"
"I think we can make that work."
"Alright. Don't dress too warm, we're going to a desert town after all."
"I'll be just fine, foxy. I'll have you to keep me warm."
Tails blushed at hearing this. "Okay, see you then."
"Bye for now."
The next three hours passed normally for Tails. He spent two hours in his garage to create his newest invention, a remote controlled refrigerator on wheels, then took a blazing hot shower. After a flirtatious text exchange with Zooey, he got his jacket on, driving his yellow lowrider over to Zooey's house just as planned. She came out and got near the car, pleasantly surprised at the heated seats and blast of warm air. She noticed he had a cup of hot cocoa waiting for her.
"Warming ya up, Zooey?" Tails teased. "I know you get cold easily."
Zooey walked up to Tails' driver door, leaning in and hugging him at the first chance. She felt his muzzle and hands, noting how warm they were. "You're so warm, cutie!" She teased.
"Don't you start with me, sweetie." Tails warned playfully.
Zooey returned to the passenger seat. She leaned in, putting her face directly opposite Tails', making him blush in discomfort. She held onto his cheeks and kissed his forehead, running her hand through his bangs after. "Your adorable attitude is back." Zooey giggled. She knew as well as Tails did that he enjoyed her kisses.
"Awwwh~" Tails sighed. "Sounds like you missed me bunches." He grabbed her wrist and kissed the center of her hand, laughing cutely as she also blushed.
They both looked into the other's eyes, and stared for a short moment before simultaneously laughing and pushing each other away.
"I missed you, sweetheart." Zooey admitted, fastening her seatbelt. "Let's go."
Tails put his car into Drive as Zooey turned his radio on, revealing a Mina Mongoose CD in the disk player. She looked over at him as a drop of sweat ran down his forehead. She had always teased him about being a fanboy, but he always denied it. That just proved it.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Zooey asked.
"No, I'd rather not." Tails replied, his voice sounding defeated. He turned it up louder, knowing she was Zooey's favorite singer, too. The foxes sang in unison the whole way, neither one finding anything strange about it.
Sonic backed into Amy's driveway, seeing her run out to his car. She got in and had barely closed the door before she felt Sonic give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
Amy smiled sweetly at him. "I love you too, Sonic."
"Hello again, Ames. I didn't have enough time to miss you. Makes me almost forget how special tonight is."
"Yeah, I know. I've been talking more to Zooey lately, and she seems really nice. It's good to hang out with her again."
"I don't want to leave you in the dust, but it's interesting to see how my little buddy gets along with Zooey. I never really knew."
"Let's not forget each other." Amy added, kissing Sonic on the lips. Sonic kissed back for a brief second before pulling away, leaving Amy looking confused.
"We can have more of that later." Sonic said, winking at Amy winsomely.
"I just wanted to kiss you so bad." Amy explained. "You don't know what it's like dating the hottest hero alive."
"Dating you, I can understand perfectly." Sonic flirted back. "Let's get to the docks. We don't have much time."
Both couples arrived at Seaside Port with three minutes to spare. After the four of them met inside, they realized they were matching, just the wrong way. Amy and Tails both sported red hoodies and khakis, with Tails in dressy shoes and Amy in her usual Peruvian striped boots. Sonic and Zooey both wore a blue and white vertically striped sweater and white pants, Zooey having high-end sneakers, and Sonic wearing his trademark sneakers.
"We did not plan for this." Tails said, noticing the strange similarities.
"I see someone appreciates my style." Sonic added.
All four boarded the ferry. Just as Sonic was staring into the channel, he felt a pair of hands against his back, as if to push him. He immediately turned back and tackled his attacker. Amy and Zooey both laughed as Sonic realized it was just Tails pranking him. "Aw, you're gonna pay for that, buddy!" He threatened.
Tails swiftly rolled loose and backed away. He backed up into Amy who held onto his shoulders. Sonic motioned to her to not let go. "H-Hey!" Tails yelled, once he noticed that Amy was still holding him.
Sonic approached Tails, smirking teasingly as Tails tried to break loose. He reached into Tails' hoodie and tickled under his left arm, knowing that was one of his ultra-ticklish spots. Tails broke into a fit of laughter. Zooey did the same, tickling his right underarm, adding to his playful punishment.
"I see we're gonna have lots of fun tonight." Amy said. She let go of Tails, leaving the other two to gang up on him and tickle his muzzle and chest. They didn't seem to mind what the captain thought, and it was only the four of them.
Sonic and Zooey stopped once tears came to Tails' eyes, he had laughed so hard. "I hope you've learned your lesson, pal." Sonic said, hugging Tails. Amy and Zooey looked over at each other, both acknowledging that this is what their boyfriends acted like.
They sat down at the table on the far side, and remained there talking until the ferry arrived on the main island, at the unfortunately named city, Gravestone. They all disembarked, and Sonic signaled a taxi to come over. They got in, and were soon driven to Jack's Tavern, located near the famous Gravestone beaches. Sonic paid the driver, and they arrived at their first destination.
"Well, here we are." Amy announced.
"Again." Zooey added, lightly nudging Tails.
"This was Sonic's idea, not mine." Tails explained. "The whole movie thing is my plan."
"Speaking of which, did you get the tickets?" Sonic asked.
"No. I tried to find them, but in this theater, you pay once you get there."
"Alright, let's get dinner. I'm starving."
Amy held onto Sonic's shoulder, putting into perspective how tall she is, yet not quite as tall as Sonic. "Manners, Sonic. Patience is a virtue, remember?"
Sonic blushed in nothing but shame as his girlfriend called out his behavior to the foxes. He understood that Amy was only trying to help with his fast temper, but it just didn't suit him to wait for anything.
They were seated almost immediately after entering. The group briefly made small talk until their server came. Tails and Zooey both got a club sandwich, Sonic got their three-course steak dinner, and Amy got a salad. Tails convinced them to all get iced tea, his personal favorite. Their conversation quickly became a lovefest as all talked about their partner.
"Each one convinced me to do something different." Tails recounted. "Knuckles convinced me to join the gym, Sonic convinced me to completely overhaul my demeanor, and Amy convinced me that romance was actually necessary. All of them failed. In the end, I guess that being myself worked."
"Your heroic self." Zooey clarified, pulling Tails in for a ravishing kiss on the cheek. Tails blushed as red as his hoodie. Sonic laughed.
"Mind your manners." Amy whispered while nudging him.
"Hey Amy, do you remember when you threatened to break out your hamer when Perci wouldn't stop flirting with me?" Sonic instigated.
Amy glared at Sonic. "You asked me to help fix your attitude, and this is how you repay me?" She grunted.
"First of all, you nagged me into letting you tell me when I'm being impatient. Second, you're the one with anger issues. Lastly, I would like to back out of that deal."
Tails got up and set a hand on each one's shoulders. "Be nice." He commanded. "You need to talk about feelings. If you need counseling, my ears are open."
"We don't need counseling." Amy railed.
"Sit down before I make you pay for your own meal." Sonic threatened.
Tails returned to his chair. "All I'm trying to say is that the whole time you've been here, you've done nothing but embarrass each other."
"I've noticed this too, and I think it's rather funny." Zooey said.
The hedgehogs found no words to disagree as the server brought back their meals. "Is everything alright?" She asked.
"Oh yes, we're having a great time. Things just got a little heated." Sonic explained.
"Glad to hear it! Enjoy your meal." The server said before leaving.
"I think we should keep it all civilized." Amy said.
"Yeah, keep all the competitive stuff turned down while we're out in public." Sonic agreed. "We should hang out more often."
"I agree." Tails added while checking his watch. "Not to alarm you, but it's 6:30 already and the Sand Blast Cinema is 15 minutes away. We should eat now and goof off later."
All four did as Tails suggested, and finished their meals within 10 minutes. Sonic insisted on paying for it all, and they left soon after.
The two guys drove their girlfriends to the cinema, and Tails paid for all four tickets, costing him a sizable thirty four pounds. Since the boys paid for dinner and the movie, the girls paid for the snacks. Amy split a large popcorn bucket with Sonic, and Zooey got some cotton candy balls for her and Tails to share. They entered their zone in the theater with four minutes to spare. Tails and Zooey sat in one of the front rows, with Sonic and Amy seated in the left center.
Tails set his arm around Zooey's shoulder, lightly pulling her to him. She smiled as she leaned into him, both getting comfortable with each other. They cuddled together, enjoying the moment and eating their favorite snack.
Amy nudged Sonic, motioning for him to look at the foxes. He glanced over at them, and understood that she wanted him to do the same.
"You're so cute, Ames. How could I not?" Sonic flirted as he set his arm around her, running his fingers through her hair. Amy started to move his hand away, but he told her not to.
He turned his head and grinned at her enticingly, as if daring her to kiss him. She blushed just at the thought of it. She gave Sonic a small kiss on the nose, deciding that they should save a long, romantic kiss for later.
The four of them, two of the seven couples in the theater that night, watched the movie with great interest. Particularly Zooey, considering how her celebrity crush, John Clark Marten, was the protagonist. Tails was sure to playfully tease her over it, given how Zooey teased him about Mina.
A half hour into the movie, there came a scene in which the protagonist, Vasco, tells his wife that his SWAT unit located the base of the Golden Legion, a criminal syndicate with financial and political power. He said he may or not return alive, prompting the two to share a long, impassioned kiss. Sonic and Amy both looked over at each other, thinking the same idea.
"You already know." Amy cooed to him. That was all the encouragement he needed. Sonic leaned over to Amy, meeting in the middle for an extended lovely kiss that left both panting to catch their breath.
"That was beautiful." Sonic whispered. He looked down and to the side for Tails, who was looking right back at him, and smiled. "He must be happy for us." Sonic thought.
Ten minutes later, a scene occurred in which Vasco is told that his wife Carmen was killed by crossfire of the base raid. Tails held onto a crying Zooey as the sad violin music played in the background, adding to the dramatic effect. Sonic also comforted Amy, who was also distraught at her sudden death, unnecessary yet heroic.
"Believe me, Zooey. If Rachel Erikson were killed, I'd be crying too." Tails said, reaminding Zooey that the woman in the film was played by his favorite actress. A kiss on the forehead from her boyfriend sped up this process. Although she understood that no one had truly died, Zooey was still saddened by the character's murder.
The movie continued for another hour, both of the guys getting excited when Vasco geared up with armor and an RPK to raid the gang's base. He drove his car through the rear wall of the building under which they built their base, and took out 3 gang members on the way down the stairs. He warded off everyone who came at him until he reached an armored door.
Using explosives to pass the door, he found his wife in a cell, with a familiar man in position to cut her throat.
"So you're the one who told me she was dead!" Vasco yelled. "Unfortunately for you, your so-called brothers are dead. Can't bring them back."
"I watched you cry when ya heard that." The other man replied in a facetious accent. "Put the gun down. Resist, and you lose Carmen for real."
Not wasting time, Vasco shot him through the head at point blank range. Tails made sure to cover Zooey's eyes, not wanting her to see this.
"Let's get out of here." Vasco said, with his wife in pursuit. The movie ended with the screen fading to white with a scene of them sharing a second kiss. Without hesitation, the hedgehogs kissed each other again.
Tails motioned for Zooey to look at them. "They're so adorable together, don't you think?" Tails asked.
Zooey agreed. "It's best to let them be for just a minute." She warned.
Tails let them do so, and once they finished, he and Zooey made their way to regroup.
"Excellent pick, pal!" Sonic said, praising Tails on his movie choice. "Turns out you can throw a little romance into an action movie."
The group of four walked to the theater's lobby. "Thanks for having us, Sonic. It was really fun, seeing how you two act." Tails said, referring to Amy.
"Same to you, bro." Sonic replied, shaking Tails' hand.
"Amy, always good to see you again." Zooey said.
"Same to you." Amy responded.
Sonic nudged Amy. "Tell 'em." He said.
Tails and Zooey both looked at Amy with interest. "Well, Sonic asked me if I wanted to spend the night at his house, but I think it would be unfair to not include you two."
"Slumber party…" Zooey thought. She looked over at Tails, who approved. "We're in."
"Great!" Sonic said. "Make sure to bring your matching pyjamas."
"What?" Tails asked. Matching pyjamas didn't make any sense.
"Don't you remember? We once rescued an elderly lady from her house fire in our pyjamas? And she made the team extras? Sticks gave hers to Zooey? Doesn't ring a bell?"
"Oh, yeah." Tails remembered. "We'll be sure to do that. I'll try to get to your place by 10 if I can. See ya!"
"Bye!" Sonic and Amy replied. Each couple took a separate taxi to Gravestone Pier and boarded the ferry with only seconds left. Tails and Zooey were holding hands as well as the rail, watching the turns of the Seaside Channel, until he felt hands against his back. He would have turned, but he was prevented from doing so.
He was about to scream, but he heard Sonic behind him. "Did I scare ya, buddy?"
"Yes, a little bit." He admitted. Sonic gave his little bro a shoulder rub. Tails sighed and leaned back slightly. "I have been working a little too hard recently." He said. Amy and Zooey talked as Tails enjoyed the massage for the four minutes it took the ferry to reach Bygone Island.
"You gotta teach me how to do that." Tails whispered to Sonic. "Zooey would love that."
"Mhm." Sonic agreed. "I bet she would. I'll tell ya later."
"Talk about what?" Zooey asked, right beside Tails as they got off the ferry.
Tails thought once he learned, he could try on Zooey first. He excused it as nothing. He drove Zooey back to her house.
"I really hope we get to play truth or dare." Zooey told Tails on the ride back.
"That's a staple for sleepovers!" Tails replied. "But what's your interest in the game? You wouldn't even survive a second. You're too nice for all that."
"I'm nice when I wanna be. I'll put it that way. If you wish, I won't play nice."
"I'd love to see you try to play nasty. Sonic and I will, guaranteed. Even when it's just the two of us, we can go on that game for hours."
"Oh yeah? Name one thing you've done."
"Let Sonic wet my chest and tails and use me to mop his floors." Tails said nonchalantly.
"Point taken." Zooey laughed. "Sounds like a riot."
"It absolutely was." Tails concluded. He drove in silence for the rest of the way then drove himself home to quickly pack a bag as Zooey did the same.
Sonic also drove Amy back to her house, but stayed for long enough to let Amy pack her bag with pyjamas and everything necessary.
"No sleeping bag?" Sonic asked.
"I figured you'd let me sleep with you." Amy explained. She rubbed his chest and stroked his chin, knowing he liked both. She had to admit to herself Sonic looked cute when he resisted like he always did.
"You're right. You really like being held, don't you?"
"Really, Sonic? You have siblings too, don't you? Do you have any idea what it's like to sleep with someone?" She buckled herself in, prompting Sonic to drive off.
"Well no, actually. We always had separate rooms. But one time, Tails and I were in Gogoba Village and we slept together. Or the time he came over during a storm and he wouldn't leave me alone. But not my siblings, and certainly not you."
"Do you want me to cuddle you?"
Sonic thought about that for a minute. He considered cuddling with Amy under a nice, warm blanket, feeling her softness against him. He daydreamed about running his fingers through her quills and kissing her goodnight.
"You're blushing, Sonic. Keep your eyes on the road." Amy warned him.
"Yes, I'd like to cuddle." Sonic admitted. He reached for the radio dial and began playing their favorite music. "You know, I've got a record at home for this exact song. Perhaps I could steal you for a dance?"
Amy looked over at him and gasped. "I'd love to!" She squealed. It was her turn to daydream, imagining her and Sonic holding each other, then the song would end, then Sonic would lean in to kiss her, and-
"I'll take that as a yes." Sonic laughed, playfully squeezing Amy's face.
"Yeah, you know." Amy sighed. She knew that she was also blushing. Within minutes, Sonic had arrived at his house. He opened the door for her to get out of the car, holding her hand as they walked in. Sonic led her to his basement, which he had intentionally cleaned earlier. He grabbed his laptop from upstairs and connected to his basement speaker system. He played "Until You Came Into My Life" by Ann Peebles. Amy's face lit up when she heard this.
"Care to join me?" Sonic asked. Of course he knew the answer. Amy took his hands. Sonic wrapped his right arm around her, as she did her left, and they held their other hands at eye level. The hedgehogs then engaged in one of their most memorable dances ever. They didn't often look away from each other, unless one was about to hit a wall or furniture. As the song ended, Amy noticed Sonic leaning closer. They made eye contact, leaned in, and locked lips. Sonic rubbed his hand up and down her back as they embraced, knowing she enjoyed it. Their kiss lasted about twenty seconds before Sonic decided to continue the music.
The next song that played was "Locked Away" by Adam Levine. This was Sonic's personal favorite, as Amy well knew. They slowed their dance, doubling their pace when the first verse dropped. That was a perfect time for them to reflect on their relationship.
For Sonic, his memories with Amy bordered on limitless. He thought of the first time they met. He thought of the time he freed her from Eggman. He remembered how she cried when Sonic told her she couldn't join in his exploits. From then on, not only had Amy proven herself capable, but far beyond that. He didn't want to think about what would have happened if he never met her. To Sonic, Amy was the strongest, bravest, and certainly the hottest woman he had ever met. He always cherished her laughter and her kisses.
For Amy, her time spent with Sonic, for better or worse, was the highlight of her life. Ever since he rescued her, she would join him, and later Tails, for mission after mission. Despite his lack of a serious attitude, Amy knew he was responsible. Being known solely for her crush on Sonic was unsatisfactory. Only when she saved him did he ever show any feelings, but better that than none at all. To Amy, Sonic was strong, reliable, and dreamy. His ability to make her smile in any situation topped it all off.
Soon, the hedgehogs found themselves dancing to the third song, "In My Eyes" by The Afters.
"How long will we continue?" Amy asked him.
"Until the foxes show up. If they don't, I can carry on all night." Sonic replied, grinning at Amy. He knew she felt the same.
Three minutes later, the song drew to a close, interrupted only by the knocking on the door signaling that Tails and Zooey had arrived. Sonic kissed her on the forehead quickly before opening the door and letting the foxes in.
Tails eagerly walked in, trailed by Zooey. He followed the music down to the basement. The fourth song was "Kiss Me In The Morning" by Stereo Skyline.
"Aw, no. Tails, skip that or turn it off." Sonic commanded. He secretly loved it.
"Why? I like this one. So does Zooey." Tails responded while reaching out to Zooey. "We'll show them."
Zooey took Tails' right hand in the middle as they set their left hand on the other's shoulder. They began their dance at a moderate pace. Sonic, trying not to get his dancing upstaged by Tails, quickly grabbed Amy's hand and took her to the center of the room. She quickly realized what he meant and continued their dance to match the foxes' pace.
This was not what the two couples had in mind to begin a sleepover; slow dancing to music played over the speakers. None of them had a problem with it, so they continued. They got so wrapped up in each other that they continued dancing for ten minutes until Sonic's playlist stopped. Amy leaned in for another kiss, to which Sonic complied, forgetting they weren't alone.
Tails and Zooey stopped and turned, but never fully let go of each other. They watched as Sonic and Amy shared their kiss. He pulled Amy into a tight hug, wrapping his arms around her shoulders as she did the same around his neck.
"Awww! They're kissing!" Zooey exclaimed, putting her hands together. She thought she was whispering to Tails, but the others easily heard it. "They're so cute together."
The hedgehogs turned to her with a questioning look on their faces. Their muzzles ran red in embarrassment.
"Well, we were." Amy said with disappointment in her voice.
"Let's wait until we interrupt you and Tails kissing, then see how you feel." Sonic added.
"We haven't… kissed before." Zooey stammered, being uncomfortable with saying that.
"It's actually a great experience." Sonic replied, squeezing Amy's hand. He saw that Zooey almost looked sad after saying that. He signaled to Tails to go behind Zooey and mouthed the words "Hold her."
Tails did as he was told, wrapping one arm around her waist and the other around her shoulders. Zooey tried to step back, but Tails wouldn't move. She only tried desperately to escape when she saw Sonic approaching her with a playful smirk.
Tails laid her down on the floor face up, wiggling his fingers on her neck and chin as Sonic tickled her sides. In seconds, Zooey burst into high pitched laughter. Tails loved to hear this and wasn't above tickling her to do so. "Gotcha now, sweetie!" He teased.
"Please! No!" Zooey begged while laughing her head off. Her words were wasted on them. Sonic held her arms down as Amy removed her shoes. Tails allowed Zooey to roll over. Little did she know that made it harder to escape. Tails held Zooey's legs and Sonic held her arms behind her back as if she were handcuffed. Amy tickled Zooey's paws to no end.
"Are you still feeling sorry?" Amy asked. "If I hear a no, we'll keep up all night!"
"I'm so sorry!" Zooey cried as she couldn't stop giggling. "I didn't mean to interrupt you! Please let me go now!"
"We're gonna hear how sorry you are for the next three minutes!" Tails teased. He didn't feel it was right for his girlfriend to go through so much tickling, but he also hated how she interrupted his friends. He leaned over Zooey to kiss the back of her neck, making sure to brush the furry ends of his muzzle against her neck.
This intense level of ticklish sensations was starting to take a toll on Zooey. She was breathing so heavily, all three of them decided to let her go. "I think we should stop. She hasn't done anything too bad." Sonic explained
"Yeah, me too." Tails agreed. He looked into Zooey's eyes. "How about you, dear? Are you feeling alright?"
At this point, Zooey had stopped laughing and was regaining her breathing pattern. "I'm really sorry." She panted. As if to accept her apology, Sonic massaged her shoulders the same way he did for Tails. Zooey sighed and leaned back while Tails held her hand.
"You don't have to be sorry." Amy soothed her. "It was all in good fun."
"You call that fun?" Zooey shouted back.
"Actually, yes." Sonic chimed in. "Tails and I do that to each other a lot. Of course, we continue far longer than he did just now. You ever been to a sleepover before?"
"I haven't, now that you mention it. Do you guys do truth or dare?"
"Oh, absolutely." Tails cut in. "Wanna sit down and start us off?"
"Wait, so I give someone a dare? Or is everyone gonna have to do 3 in a row?"
"I actually like that idea." Amy said.
"We can get it all over with faster." Sonic agreed.
"So we'll all give Zooey our truth or dare questions. I'll start." Tails said. "Zooey, truth or dare?"
Zooey knew her boyfriend, and thinking he would be nice, chose dare.
Tails, on a recliner and covered by a blanket, made his decision quickly. "Go upstairs and get me a soda. Your dare is to serve me. If I want it, I get it." He was feeling lazy.
"You're outrageous." Zooey muttered under her breath, getting up to do as Tails instructed her. She came down a minute later with a can of soda. "Here ya go, fatso."
Sonic and Amy both gasped and winced as Zooey insulted Tails to his face.
Tails sat up in the large recliner. He lifted up the blanket next to him to make room for Zooey. He looked at her with a pleading face. Zooey looked displeased. She couldn't say no, but that wasn't the issue. It was Tails' smug look that irritated her.
She groaned before jumping onto the recliner with Tails. She leaned into him, feeling how soft he and his hoodie were. Zooey then snuggled into him. Tails hugged her tightly.
"Uh… Zooey, truth or dare?" Sonic asked.
"Dare." She picked again.
"I dare you to do anything that will surprise Tails. Don't matter what. Just something."
"Does it have to be now?"
"No, but I wanna see it."
"Alright, I'll let you know." Zooey said, looking to Amy. "I'll take another dare."
"I've got nothing good. Let's see your texts to Tails."
It was Zooey's turn to gasp. "You promise to now show anyone?" She asked.
"Only the interesting ones." Amy teased. Zooey handed Amy her unlocked phone and let her open the texts.
"Zooey, come back here." Tails commanded. "Don't block Amy off from this one."
She did as Tails told her. "But I don't want her to." She whined.
"It's nothing she won't get a good laugh at." Tails brushed off the subject. He snuggled with his girlfriend as Amy scrolled through their texts.
Two minutes later, she found one. Amy brought the phone up to the foxes. She had selected a mirror selfie Tails had sent to her. He was well groomed, yet appeared sweaty and tired. Lastly, he had no shirt on underneath his tool belt. "Shirtless mirror selfie?" Amy asked rhetorically. Sonic came over to look as Amy read the text below it. "Missing you"
"Tails is pretty hot, isn't he?" Zooey fired back without hesitation. A moment of awkward silence passed by as Amy thought about what to say. "Not my first choice of words, but I can see why you think that." She responded.
"Look at Tails being a stud!" Sonic exclaimed. "Looking good, buddy." Sonic ran a hand through Tails' bangs.
"I forgot I sent that." Tails said while blushing. "I'm not mad, though." He appreciated Sonic's niceness, and getting petted only made him feel better.
Amy handed Zooey's phone back to her and sat down. "I'm glad that's over." Zooey stated. "Who's next?"
"Sonic, truth or dare?" Tails asked.
"So he's just gonna ask me and everyone's gonna roll with it? Alright, hit me. Dare."
"You remember that one time you pulled my tails? I dare you to let Amy do it to you, then pull her tail."
"Ouch, buddy." Sonic told him, looking genuinely hurt. "This one's gonna cost you." Despite his objections, he got up and walked over to Amy. She also stood up as Sonic turned his back to her. She gripped his tail and held his shoulders.
"Ready, Sonic? Three, two, one…" Amy counted down before yanking Sonic's tail, pulling him to her. Sonic groaned a little as his body was jerked back.
"That was kinda nice." Sonic admitted. "I might have liked that."
"Well, I hope you did, because now it's me." Amy sighed, sounding both angry and afraid. She and Sonic both looked into the other's eyes, expressing trust. She turned her back to Sonic.
"I'll just go for it, okay?" Sonic asked. He gripped her tail with one hand and set his other hand on her shoulder. Without a response from her, he tugged her tail, eliciting a short whimper from Amy. She quickly spun around and hugged him.
"That felt strange." She whined once they separated. "But I see why you liked it." Amy turned to Tails. "Why did you make us do that?"
"We've done it to each other before. Thought I might bring you into it."
Amy crossed her arms and pouted at Tails.
"It takes trust, doesn't it? I love you too, Ames." Sonic said, hugging her from behind.
"Truth or dare, chief?" She asked.
"Woah, she calls you chief!" Tails repeated loudly. "That is so adorable!"
Sonic grimaced at him and shook his head. "Let's make 'em all dares."
All players present agreed, and Amy laid down the next dare. "I dare you to wrestle Tails. Loser has to stand outside in the snow barefoot."
Sonic and Tails looked at each other and laughed. "Good luck, little buddy. I don't lose."
"And same to you, bro. No hard feelings, of course. I'm just not gonna be the one freezing out there." Tails responded. He grabbed onto Sonic's hands, and both leaned against each other.
"Ready, boys?" Amy prepared them, unable to suppress a mischievous smirk on her face. They both nodded. "Go!"
Amy took the role of announcer, stating everything that happened as if for a TV match. "And we're off. Sonic immediately has the upper hand. Look at the upper body strength! Tails is being pushed back, but what's this? He's using his twin tails to propel himself against Sonic! He's been toppled! He grabs Sonic's arms and twists them in front of him. Sonic determinedly kicks Tails off of him! An unsportsmanlike move if ever I've seen one."
"Shut up!" Sonic railed at Amy.
"More unsportsmanlike conduct from Sonic. Should the second judge agree, he'll be taking double the punishment if he loses!" Amy directed a fake microphone to Zooey.
"I'm fine with that. Nobody kicks my boyfriend." Zooey said facetiously into Amy's closed hand.
"And we got Sonic pinning Tails now! Never one to back down, Tails uses his propeller tails to give himself a boost. He's planted his feet on the ground and stands up as he forces Sonic to do the same. Sonic grabs Tails by the waist and performs an ostentatious 540 on the way down as he slams Tails on his back! He's gotta be hurting after that one. The young fox rolls backwards and rams Sonic's head into the couch. Two painful blows right after the other! Sonic struggles to get up as Tails crawls on top of him and holds his shoulders to the floor. Three - Two - One - That's the game! In favor of Miles Prower! Which means, Sonic's gonna stand barefoot in the snow for not one, but two minutes!"
"I did not agree to that." Sonic panted.
"Well, that's too bad. It was a dare, after all. I could have had you stand out in the snow by default, but no, I wanted to see you compete."
"And you risked having me take the punishment." Tails sighed. "But Sonic, you lost, and now you have to face it. Come with us." He commanded. Amy laid him down on the floor and each of the foxes took his socks and shoes off, setting them aside. He briefly tickled Sonic's bare paws just to hear some giggles from him. The foxes walked him outside and Tails led him barefoot into the snow.
"Yaaaaaah!" Sonic screamed as the snow, which is really frozen water, chilled his paws instantly. He was led to a certain spot and ordered to stand there.
"Zooey, get me my phone." Tails ordered. She dutifully went back inside and got it for him. She tossed it to him to avoid the snow herself. Tails recorded as Sonic stood there in the snow, arms crossed, legs bending, and shivering madly.
"Tails, this isn't funny." Sonic stuttered as he felt his paws slowly getting frozen.
"One minute's up." Amy shouted from the back. Tails walked back to Sonic and made him stand in a different spot for another minute. Tails put his phone away and watched as Sonic froze his butt off. Once Amy announced the second minute was up, Sonic dashed back into the basement, grabbed a blanket, and laid by the fire.
"You still got one more dare, Sonic." Zooey reminded him. "And I think we've found your weakness." She grabbed his hand and pulled him back outside and had him stand at the top of the basement stairs. "Now face me." She ordered. Sonic fearfully turned to face her. "Good boy." Zooey laughed. She grabbed the collar of his shirt, and in one motion, lifted it right off him. Before Sonic could react, she pushed him backwards into the snow. Sonic let out a high pitched shriek once he made contact with the snow. He ran back to the stairs, but Zooey grabbed him.
"And now turn around." Zooey commanded. Sonic groaned as he did so, allowing Zooey to push him face first into the snow. He screamed again, snagging his shirt out of Zooey's hand and clearing the stairs in one jump. He yanked the door open and returned to his position of reclining by the fire.
"You took it like a champ, chief." Amy told him. She laid his quills out on the floor individually and squeezed them to get any ice off, leaving small puddles on the carpet.
"Good boy, Sonic!" Zooey taunted him again, sitting down beside him. "I'm so proud of you." She patted his hand.
Sonic pushed her over. "That is so disrespectful, little girl." He scolded.
"You're still soaked, Sonic." Tails reminded him. "If you wanna change into your pyjamas now, you can. I think I will too."
Sonic grunted as he got up, but headed upstairs to change his clothes. Tails grabbed his bag and headed upstairs also. Amy and Zooey got their bags and headed into the closet and bathroom. In a few short minutes, they all returned to the basement wearing their identical pyjamas. They were long-sleeve, sweater-like cotton shirts with matching cotton pants. Amy's were dark red, Sonic's were dark blue, Tails' were white, and Zooey's were jungle green, given to her by Sticks.
"Now, I think it's time for Tails to go." Amy said. "It's dares only, so I dare you to pull her tail, then let her pull yours. Just like you did to me and Sonic."
Tails looked at Amy, genuinely hurt. "But that's what the bullies did to me when I was little." He whined.
"Don't worry, sweetie." Zooey comforted him. "I love you." She upped that statement with a kiss right on his nose. Tails had a sheepish smile on his face as he turned his back to Zooey. She grabbed both of his tails, and tugged. He let out a sharp cry, but didn't appear hurt.
"That didn't feel so good." He whimpered.
"Well, now try for me." Zooey grunted, turning her back to Tails. He grabbed her tail and yanked her towards him. A short moan escaped her. The two hugged it out.
"Well, that was something." Amy giggled.
"Yeah, it was." Sonic agreed. "Anyway Tails, your dare is simple. I think you've got a card that doesn't belong to you. Give it back."
Tails' muzzle got even whiter. He knew exactly what Sonic was talking about. He found an easy excuse. "It's still at my house."
"Did you steal something from him?" Zooey asked, alarmed at the thought.
"It's either you or me, buddy." Sonic warned. "Someone's gonna tell her."
"I'd rather you do it." Tails huffed defeatedly.
"Alright, this actually starts two years back, when Mina Mongoose came into town. Tails had what you'd call a" Sonic made air quotes. "Celebrity crush on her. But to his dismay, Mina took notice of me. We had a few dates, but one day she told me she was leaving, and I could either stay in Mobius or accompany her. It hurt me to stay here, but I did. Two weeks go by, and in the mail I get this card from her. It reads "To My Biggest Fan" and had a red imprint on it where she had kissed the card. Once my feelings subsided, I let Tails have it." Sonic turned to face the fox. "And I believe he still has it."
Tails brought his knees to his chest and buried his face there. "Why do you gotta embarrass him?" Zooey raged at Sonic. "Why couldn't you keep your mouth shut?"
"It's something we've done to each other for years!" Sonic yelled back. "Even Amy knows how we mess with each other, and she's okay with it. Take it easy."
"It's really alright, sweetheart." Tails calmed her. "It really is. You just didn't understand. It's only something best friends do." He hugged Zooey and rubbed her back.
"I promise you, Zooey, this is how they act." Amy explained. "I may not like it, you definitely don't, but they're okay. Sonic may have gone too far."
"I did." Sonic admitted. "And I'm sorry, buddy. Let's just move on."
"Yeah, I get that." Tails said, refocusing himself. "Zooey, I got one last dare. Bring it!"
"I got a dare that combines both mine for you and for Amy, if that's allowed." She got nods of approval. "It involves all three of you. I got this mental image earlier, and I can't let go of it. Sweetie, if you could take your shoes off, that would make it easier. Go over to that long wall." She ordered, picking up her cell phone. The hedgehogs lined up in front of an undecorated wall. Tails kicked off his dress shoes and joined them.
Zooey started smiling, her fun-loving personality returning. "Tails, come in front. Sonic, on my left and Amy on the right. Beautiful! Tails, sit down with your legs pointed to me. Sonic, hold his right hand with your left. Yes, I know it's the outside. Amy, you do the reverse."
Tails now sat below them with the hedgehogs holding both his hands. By now, all three of them realized Zooey was making this look like a family picture.
"The hedgehogs need to hold each other's free hands together. Perfect. Now Tails, look up at them and smile. For the last part, I need Amy to kiss Sonic." She hesitated, but did so. "Excellent!" Zooey cheered. She took a whopping 23 pictures. "Alright, you're done."
Tails, Amy, and Sonic gathered around her to see what the picture looked like. The roles were clear. Sonic was the dad, Amy was the mom, and Tails was the son. All three looked cute together, and not even Tails thought otherwise.
"We should send Zooey a Christmas card with this." Tails whispered to Sonic.
"Not a bad idea, bud." Sonic whispered back.
"We look so adorable together!" Amy chimed in, charmed at how cute they looked. "You'd make such a good son." Amy told Tails, now pulling him in for a kiss on the cheek. She then turned to Sonic. "Can we adopt him?"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here." Sonic replied nervously. "He's four years younger than me, and two years younger than you. Not to mention, marriage is still a distance away. Let's wait on that one."
"She was joking, Sonic." Tails groaned, annoyed by Sonic's constant inability to detect sarcasm. "No offense, but you can't compare to my dad."
"You two would make good in-laws." Zooey said unironically. Sonic and Amy looked at each other, then to Zooey, and burst into laughter. Tails followed, and Zooey also did once she realized what she just said. The hedgehogs hugged Zooey and made room for Tails to share a group hug once they all recovered themselves.
"That would be a concept." Amy laughed. "Imagine the mother and son dance at the wedding." She nudged Tails.
He blushed. "I didn't think about that."
"Anyway, Amy. My dare for you was to kiss Sonic. That's all done." Zooey mentioned.
"And I'm not gonna waste time." Tails told her. "I'm still mad about having Zooey pull on my tails. Amy, lie down here." He commanded, pointing to a certain spot on the floor, in front of the larger couch. She looked confused, but did as she was ordered to. "Now Sonic, lean the couch back." He said as he pushed the couch on its back half with Sonic holding it in place.
"Amy, put your hands under there." He demanded. She did so warily. "Let go of the couch, Sonic." He did so, and Tails gently lowered the front bar of the couch onto Amy's hands. It didn't hurt, but she could no longer move her arms. He sat down at her feet.
"Well, Amy. Today you've driven me pretty crazy. From holding me in place when Sonic and my girlfriend were about to tickle the living life out of me to making Sonic look a fool in public and refusing help, to making Zooey yank my tails. You've frustrated me today, Amy Rose." He looked into her eyes and saw she was trying not to cry. That only made him more eager. "But I won't make you cry. Instead, I'll hear your adorable laughter!" He threatened, grabbing Amy's bare paws and tickling them with his thumbs. Amy instantly tried to retract her legs, but Tails was firmly holding her.
She rang out with the cute giggles both Tails and Sonic loved to hear. She tried to wrestle her hands out from under the couch, but the weight of the couch was too much for her to lift up, considering the awkward angle.
"You see that, Amy?" Tails teased. "There's no escape. We'll let you out when we decide enough is enough. You're at the mercy of us."
"I will warn you Tails." Sonic interrupted. "Amy is something of a crybaby when it comes to being tickled. Last time we had a tickle fight, she cried on my shoulder afterward. Make her cry, and you answer to me, understand?"
"Yes, sir." Tails responded. The warning didn't deter him. He kept at it for another 30 seconds before slightly lifting her sweater and tickling her sides. This left Amy kicking and screaming for mercy.
"I'm sorry, Tails! I truly am! Please, make it stop!" She begged.
Tails didn't listen. "Sonic, do you have anything with feathers on it?" He asked.
Sonic knew what his little brother was getting at. "I think I do." He replied, going upstairs to look for something. 20 seconds later, he returned with a white feather. "I got this from my desk. It's only for decoration, so do what you like."
"Get that away from him!" Amy yelled. "Zooey, you gotta help me!"
"You didn't help me, Amy. You let the boys continue their antics. No deal." She fired back. Zooey had lain down on the smaller couch, covered with a blanket. She was clearly too comfortable to get up.
"You hear that? You've been a brat today, Amy. Perhaps once I'm done you'll respect me a little bit more." Tails lectured her. He stopped tickling Amy's sides and brushed her muzzle with the feather, giving her the tickling of a lifetime.
Amy squealed and split her sides in laughter. This was becoming a bit much for her, yet she endured. Over a full minute later, he moved the feather to her chin and neck. Once it became clear that she could dodge this, he dropped the feather and wiggled his fingers under her arms. Amy screamed as her whole body jerked forward. She had taken so much tickling, she was at the point of fainting from exhaustion. Tails continued for only ten more seconds before deciding to quit. Amy calmed down tremendously within seconds.
Amy sighed as she walked over to Sonic for a hug from him. She calmed down in under a minute, her breathing returning to normal. "Wow, you really got me there, Tails." She sighed. "I'll stop being so mean to you in the future."
"The whole being a brat thing was fabricated. I was thinking I could convince you that you deserved it. I only felt like getting back at you. I've been worse to you."
"You've still got my dare, Amy. I've split it into three parts. First, tell Tails you forgive him." Sonic said.
Amy walked up to Tails. "I forgive you, darling. It was all in good fun, after all."
Sonic continued his commands. "Second, help me with the couch." Amy pushed the back down and folded the armrests so now it resembled a bed. "Lastly, I remember a few months ago, you massaged my back after a really wicked fall. I'd like that again."
"Now?" Amy asked.
"Well, I was considering calling it a night. It's almost midnight, you know. Why don't we tuck the foxes into bed?"
"Awww." Tails whimpered. "We were having so much fun!" Still, he complied and took out his sleeping bag, zipping the side up. He looked like a burrito.
"It's really late, sweetie." Zooey told him. "We should go to sleep soon." She yawned.
"We?" Tails asked. "When was this a 'we' thing?"
"Ever since Sonic gave me a dare to surprise you." She recalled. Zooey took out her sleeping bag, unzipped Tails', and attached them. Now they shared one large sleeping bag. She got in with her back turned to Tails. They liked to cuddle in a way called spooning. Tails loved how warm Zooey was and her appealing scent. Zooey loved being held securely in Tails' arms, his own warmth, and his kisses.
Tails wrapped his arms around her, resting his head behind her neck and planting a kiss there. Seeing their affection melted Sonic's heart. He shut the lights off and shook Amy, who was reclined on the mattress. "I may need your help again." He whispered. Amy grunted and got up.
"Let's convert this other couch." He told her. They unlatched the back, laying that down flat. They pulled the bottom section out from under the couch, making a three section mattress. Sonic quietly unzipped the sleeping bag and got Tails' attention.
"Come with me." He whispered. Tails let go of Zooey as Sonic picked him up in his arms and set him down on the mattress. He gave his little bro a pat on the head to say good night.
"Where are you taking my boyfriend?" Zooey demanded, sitting up suddenly. Sonic came back to her, picked her up, carried her over to the bed, and set her down beside Tails.
"Sweetheart." Tails whispered happily, holding his arms out. Sonic loved how happy he sounded. Tails set her crossways on his lap, holding her bride style.
Zooey kissed him on both cheeks, then his nose. "I love you too, sweetie." She cooed.
"You two are so adorable." Sonic told them. "Glad we could have you tonight." Zooey stood up and pulled Sonic in to hug them.
"Good night, Dad." Tails whispered as a joke. Zooey chuckled.
"Sleep well, buddy. You too, Zooey."
"Good night, Sonic." Zooey said. She climbed back into bed, up close to Tails. They both looked into the others' eyes and blushed. They moved in and shared their first kiss. Both smiled as they separated, deciding they should sleep while they still can.
Sonic looked back at them and smiled, then felt Amy grab his shoulders. "Ready for your massage, chief? I've been waiting for you." She asked.
"Yeah. I'm gonna love this." Sonic replied. Amy grabbed his sweater-like shirt and pulled it off.
"I bet you will. Now, I'm gonna need you to lie down on your stomach." Amy commanded. Sonic eagerly did as she required. "Just breathe slowly and relax. I'll take care of the rest." Amy said soothingly as she worked her hands on Sonic's lower back. For the next few minutes, she continued her pattern, his moans and sighs telling her when she found a good spot. "Sounds like I need to continue applying pressure here, hmmm?" She teased.
"Mmph! Please do!"
Amy did just that, loving the sounds her boyfriend made. She worked her way up to his shoulders over the next ten minutes. She then gave him a loving shoulder rub before finishing with a long kiss to his neck, just as Zooey liked from Tails. She then lay down on Sonic's back, threw a blanket over both of them. She wrapped her arms around Sonic's chest. They were now also spooning, just as their friends liked.
"I'm starting to think maybe Tails and Zooey have it right. They like to kiss and cuddle, and I'm liking this too." She whispered.
"No objections here." Sonic whispered back. "Sweet dreams, sugar."
"Sleep well, chief. I think we had a pretty good day."
