*Prompt~ a couple that is not yet together or realised their feelings for each other have to share a bed. Both people have some troubles sleeping but make it through the night and act as if nothing happened*
"You can't be serious!" Regina moaned rather loudly. Why her? She would share a cabin with anyone but the insufferable blonde. But no captain guyliner had to have his own cabin and give the other spare one to the charmings.
"I'm not exactly happy about this either Regina" the blonde stated.
If it wasn't for Henry the boy who had her heart she wouldn't have met his infuriating blonde leather wearing mother and she certainly wouldn't be on a boat sailing to Neverland to deal with Pan and his lost boys. Regina sighed quietly before walking to the other side of guyliners ship. She wanted her son and not knowing if he was okay was eating her up on the inside. The brunette continued to stare at the ocean while her thoughts were running wild.
The Charmings were the first to slip of to there cabin and Regina was glad. How can to people so touchy-feely with each other? Hook was next to make a leave insisting a man needs sleep no matter how lovely his company is and winked in Emma's direction. Ughhh the brunette had to roll her eyes at that. She could do so much better at wooing the blonde. Wait she didn't want to do that did she?
The two women made there way to their shared cabin unsure of how the night would go. Both dressed for bed and entered the double bed awkwardly. Regina talking the right side, Emma taking the left. The rocking of the ships and sounds of the waves lulling them to a slumber.
A whimper drew Regina from her sleep. She stayed still thinking her mind was playing tricks on her. Another whimper escaped her blonde companion along with a quiet plea. Regina turned over to see what was wrong with the blonde.
"Please stop, stop I'm sorry, it hurts stop" the blonde woman mumbled as she started to fight with the sheets. Thin beads of sweat lined her forehead. She looked so vulnerable in this moment Regina could swear she felt her heart break. One could only guess what was going through the blonde woman's mind but Regina had a pretty good guess.
Regina gently shook the blondes shoulder hoping to rouse the blonde out of her personal hell. At this point the blonde had tears streaming down her face as her green eyes popped open.
"Regina I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you" mumbled out the obviously shaken up blonde.
Regina quickly replied "It's quite all right dear, are you okay?"
"I'm fine" was the snappy reply the blonde gave before turning to face away from her sons other mother. Regina lay there in shock for a few moments. She knew what nightmares were like she had plenty of her own and all she ever wanted after one was comfort from another human which was something she couldn't have. She would gladly hold and comfort the blonde is she needed it but she just shut Regina out and for some strange reason that hurt Regina.
"I just need sleep" she mumbled to herself before rolling over and drifting of to sleep once more.
A jab to to Emma's side had her wide awake in seconds. What the hell? Who did that? A kick to her hip had her rolling over in frustration. A sad sigh escaped the blonde as she recognised the tell tell signs of a nightmare.
"Regina" Emma hissed slightly shaking the brunette.
"Regina wake up it's just a dream your okay" the blonde whispered in an attempt to coax the woman back to the land of the living.
Drenched in sweat the brunette bolted up right at the whisper from the blonde. She momentarily forgot why Emma was sitting beside her. But the earlier rejection from the blonde had her remembering and acting like the cold harsh queen she once was.
"Are you okay Gina?" The blonde woman hesitantly questioned.
"I'm fine Miss swan just go back to sleep" the queen snapped.
Both feeling their own rejection rolled away from each other and waited for sleep to take them. And when the sun rose the brunette was the first out of bed with the blonde following 15 minutes later. Both got ready for the day avoiding a conversation that probably should've happened but wouldn't.
Both women headed for breakfast with the others and when asked how they slept both replied "fine" in a monotone voice. This suggested to the others something happened but the two stubborn women had not intention of confronting the issue so it was dropped. Never again was the night they shared a bed mentioned until Regina emitted her feelings for Emma in Neveland and Emma said she felt the same. From then on the woman comforted each other when they had nightmares and sharing a bed was much more pleasant for them both.
