The Soul Society is an afterlife (also called the spirit world). This is also where Soul Reapers live and where mostsouls dwell until they are reincarnated into theHuman World. It is far from sublime, aside from the slowed aging and lack of hunger, life there is much like that in the world of the living. Residing in the Soul Society are the thirteen Court Guard Squad also known as Gotei.

Each Squad has different skill sets and specializes in different fields. For example: theFourth Division is medical/supply division, theEleventh Division is the combat division (specialization in swordsmanship), and theTwelfth Division is the research/scientific division.

Rukia Kuchiki had called upon her brother Byakuya Kuchiki, Captain of the Sixth Division, to hold an emergency meeting to explain the situation happening in the Human World. All of the captains gathered in the Captain's Assembly Room. Once Everyone was in the room, the Head Captain Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto entered a little bit after.

Yamamoto is the oldest captain in the Gotei thirteen. He has the appearance of an old man with red eyes, a very long white beard, and long eyebrows. There are many scars on his torso and head, the two most prominent being a pair of long scars crossing above his right eye, one of which was left by his battle with his lieutenant. He wears the standard Soul Reaper uniform, but its size is greatly exaggerated. He drapes hishaori over his back instead of actually wearing it. Despite his old and frail appearance, he has a very muscular body which he only reveals when he goes to battle.

"This emergency meeting was called upon the Captain of the Sixth Division, Byakuya Kuchiki," Head Captain Yamamoto began, his voice rough and burley. "Captain Kuchiki, please explain the matter of this meeting."

Byakuya Kuchiki took a step forward. He has slate gray eyes and long black hair, which he keeps up in intricate white headpieces calledkenseikan, which symbolize his nobility as the head of the Kuchiki Clan, wearing three on top of his head and another two on the right side. In addition to the standard captain uniform, he wears a white scarf. The scarf is a family heirloom, having been handed down from generation to generation and given to each head of the Kuchiki Clan. The scarf alone is worth ten mansions in the Seireitei.He wears fingerless white tekko which only cover the back of his hands.

"Rukia Kuchiki has informed me of a matter that had occurred in the world of the living." He said, his voice monotone and clear. "Rukia, please enter the room."

Rukia entered the room and knelt before the captains. She bowed her head before speaking. She rose to her feet and looked at all the captains in the room. Making eye contact with the Head Captain made Rukia a tad bit nervous and intimidated but she began with confidence.

"There was an Arrancar that attacked a Human in the world of the Living. The Arrancar used that human as a shield while Ichigo Kurosaki was trying to free the human. As a result, the human was stabbed by Ichigo's blade."

The Captains in the room all gasped and murmured among one another in shock. Rukia continued.

"When the human girl was stabbed with Ichigo's blade, her spiritual pressure appeared to one of an Espada."

"What do you mean her spiritual pressure was that of an Espada?" Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya of the Tenth Division spoke up. Toshiro was a short male with turquoise eyes and short, spiked, white hair. He wore a standard sleeveless captain'shaori with a green sash around his shoulders, held together by a round, star-like clip. The sash holds his Zanpakuto's sheath in place on his back and is tied to it at either end. He sometimes walks around in histabi.

Rukia turned to look at Toshiro. "As I was running to the scene, I felt the spiritual pressure of an Espada. When I arrived to the scene, No Espada was present. It was only Ichigo and the girl." She replied.

"Were you sure she was human when you met her?" Captain of the Second Division Suí-Fēng asked as she took a step forward as well. She was a relatively petite woman with gray eyes and black hair which she wears short with two long braids bound in white cloth, each ending in a large golden ring. She wore a traditionalSoul Reaper captain's uniform with a sleeveless haoriand a yellow obi tied around her waist.

"Yes, I'm positive. This wasn't her first encounter with a Hollow. I met this human when she was first attacked by a Hollow." Again, Rukia remained confident and answered each question truthfully.

"What happened after she was stabbed?" Captain Shunsui Kyōraku of the Eighth Division asked. Shunsui Kyōraku was a tall, light-skinned male with high cheekbones, grey eyes and long wavy brown hair. His hair was tied in a long ponytail and he had long bangs that frame the left side of his face. He also has a noticeable amount of body hair on his chest, feet, and arms. He wears a Sugegasa straw hat and a pink, flowered lady's kimono, which he drapes across his shoulders and over his captain's uniform. He has thin facial hair around his mouth and on his cheeks.

"After she was stabbed," Rukia continued, "She became a Soul Reaper. She had a Zanpaktuo and wore the Soul Reaper uniform. Ichigo reported me that when they used their Zanpaktuo, all the air around him stopped. There wasn't a single breeze. Wind only surrounded the girl and she defeated the Arrancar."

The room grew silent from the murmurs and small chatter.

The Head Captain opened his eyes and looked directly at Rukia. "The Human defeated an Arrancar?"

"Yes, Head Captain." Rukia bowed her head, avoiding his gaze. "Sir, what should we do about the human? Ichigo has taken her to Kisuke Urahara. She most likely will remain there. If Aizen finds out, her life could be in danger."

The Head Captain closed his eyes and thought for a moment. This was a pretty important matter to attend to. The Goeti already had to prepare for war and had enough on their plate.

"Rukia Kuchiki, as you already know we are going to War with Aizen and his Arrancar Army. We can not guarantee the protection of this human. If her spiritual pressure is that of an Espada then she may be considered a potential enemy of the Soul Society."

Rukia began to protest but was immediately cut off when the Head Captain opened an eye and made eye contact with her.

"That aside, I will assign extra security for her safety. It is important that we don't let Aizen get his hands on her." He continued and looked over at Toshiro. "Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya, I will assign you as Leader in providing security for this Human. You may pick two other Lieutenants to join you. Proceed with caution."

"Yes, Head Captain." Toshiro bowed and took his place back in the line of Captains.

"This meeting is adjourned. Prepare for yourselves, Captains." He tapped his staff against the wood floors, ending the meeting.

Rukia let out a big sigh of relief as she walked out the meeting with Byakuya. She was relieved that more protect was going to be provided for Rose. It was really all she hoped for.

"Rukia," Byakuya began, "The spiritual pressure of that girl, do think its necessary that she needs more protection?"

"Yes, big brother. I-" Rukia paused for a moment. "I believe that she does. She doesn't have control over her spiritual pressure. She can't properly defend herself."

"I see. I'll be sending Renji along with you. If Kisuke Urahara hasn't already begun training her like Ichigo, she could be a threat to our lives." Byakuya walked ahead of Rukia, leaving on that note.

Rukia stopped in her tracks and watched her brother walk away. Byakuya was never wrong. He always followed his sixth sense and it sounded like to Rukia that this was all a bad idea or something was going to fail. Again, stress and worry began brew in Rukia's mind.

'I really hope you are wrong big brother,' Rukia thought as she walked to the Tenth Division barracks.
