After witnessing the Shōjo-esque encounter, Kagome figured that would the last she would encounter the peculiar boys. Logically, they did not go to the same school and she had no reason to make the effort to close the distance to interact with them. She did not have a reason to, unlike Rinko.
Unfortunately the light-haired brunette had it in her head that since Kagome was somehow a part of the reason why Rinko was able to reconcile with Takeo, that the Priestess wanted to accompany the trio in their hang outs to become the four musketeers.
Kagome's expression pinched, drawing a giggle from Rinko. The two were seated from across one another during their lunch break, the rest of their group grabbing their own lunches from the cafeteria.
"Come on Kagome-chan! Takeo-kun said he wanted to meet you again to say thank you!" The shorter girl chirped, "And…Sunakawa-san will be there too."
At the shorter girl's not-so sly look, Kagome chuckled, "Well then, you can tell Takeo that a thank you is not needed. And enjoy your time with the two."
Rinko pouted, her cheeks puffing at her friend's response.
"You're going to explode if you keep puffing your cheeks," Kagome teased, poking one of the full rosy cheeks, "Don't worry about me. Have fun with your boyfriend."
That stressed the petite girl even more, face flushing fully, "B-Boyfriend!"
Kagome tilted her head, cheek resting against her palm, "Am I wrong?" She smirked.
"!"
It seemed Kagome did not put enough effort in trying to escape once the final ring of the school bell signaled the end of the day. With a sigh, she focused on following the insistent pull of Rinko's hand in hers. The small girl had immediately attached herself to the reluctant Priestess, and pretty much kidnapped the taller girl.
'But you could leave if you wanted to,' Kagome thought, it would not take much effort to shake off Rinko and run at top speed away. But that would only hurt the other girl's feelings, which she was not going to be the cause of.
Before the fumbling Rinko could pay for her ticket, Kagome reached over and tapped her own kitten-shaped wallet against the scanner. It beeped as it detected her train pass.
Seeing that as a sign of her willingness to join them, Rinko beamed up at Kagome before dragging them across the tolls and toward their destination platform.
"I knew you'd come around Kagome-chan!"
"Yeah, I think it's more like Stockholm syndrome."
"Kagome-chan!"
"Haha-"
"So where are we going again?" Kagome asked, hand firmly grasping the handles above them, her other arm stretched to support the smaller girl.
"Ah, we're going to this park that's in the middle," Rinko pulled up her phone to show her pictures of the park. Kagome leaned to look over her shoulder and smiled as Rinko swiped through the pictures while providing commentary on each picture– squealing whenever any of the pictures showed a part of Takeo. The Priestess couldn't help but feel happy for her enamored friend. She remembered the last time she felt that way, and it was truly like walking on cloud nine.
"Takeo-san sure is a lucky guy," Kagome hummed, smiling wider as Rinko blushed like a tomato.
She would have preferred to walk behind Rinko at a larger distance as they grew closer to the park, but Rinko's firm grip kept the time-traveling Priestess firmly by her side.
"If you're not careful, people will think we're together Rinko-chan," Kagome commented as they waited for the crosswalk to turn green. The bouncing girl beside her squeaked, though rather than letting go of the other girls' hand, both her smaller hands came to clamp around Kagome's hand.
"You're always teasing me Kagome-chan!" Rinko cried out.
"It's because I like you."
Rinko froze in shock, Kagome rarely admitted anything of that sort in the time that she's known her classmate. Her cheeks blushed lightly as she looked up at Kagome's smiling face. Rinko wondered if Kagome knew how pretty she was.
"Don't look so happy, it's the Stockholm speaking."
Rinko sputtered but before she could respond, she was pulled forward.
"Let's go, it's green. You want to see your boyfriend right?"
The smaller girl's brain promptly fried.
Thankfully the park was just on the other side of the street and seeing as they just got out of school, it was hardly occupied. It wouldn't take too long to spot the towering figure that was Takeo with the slim figure beside him.
Seeing as her friend was temporarily mentally disabled, Kagome dragged Rinko forward and raised an arm in greeting.
"Konnichiwa," Kagome called with a small smile.
"K-k-k-konnichiwa!" Rinko squeaked.
The broad smile that greeted them from the one and only Takeo had Kagome relaxing her shoulders. With a nod she glanced over at the quiet brunette beside Takeo and smiled a little more in amusement. The handsome boy nodded in turn before glancing away.
Kagome was startled, shoulders jumping as Takeo suddenly bounced in front of them and bowed so far, his forehead was shy of the ground.
"THANK YOU HIGURASHI-SAN!" Takeo started, voice booming, "RINKO-CHAN SAID HOW YOU HELPED HER. SO YOU HAVE MY GRATITUDE!"
Her loose hairs flew at how loudly the high-school boy shouted. However rather than being weirded out, Kagome couldn't help but think it was charming. So she bowed back, causing the tall boy to gasp.
"It was no problem," Kagome straightened back up, smiling warmly up at the boy, "Please take care of her happiness, Takeo-san. I'm counting on you."
That seemed to shock the three before her before the tallest and shortest of the trio burst into tears.
"Kagome-chan!"
"Higurashi-san!"
The Priestess wondered if her insurance would cover hearing aids, Kagome burst into laughter at the thought. Rinko's eyes sparkled as she took in the sight of Kagome laughing even harder as Takeo perked leaned quite close to the girl to ask what she was laughing about. With a smile of her own, Rinko glanced over to see Sunakawa staring intently at the two. His eyes focused more so on the female of the two.
Rinko held in her squeal.
