We were finally sailing towards DunBroch. The air was cold, even though summer hadn't ended yet there was still a cold breeze that surrounded us so we brought our fur cloaks to keep us warm, it was very normal since berk always had their temperature lower than the Greenland's. I sat there on the boat still in disbelief of what was happening, I looked down at my hand examining my ring finger, what would soon be wrapped in a metal ring to show my status of a husband and then chief...anger grr inside me at the in rational decision of the engagement. I didn't mind being Chief but the thought of being, and ruling, with someone I hardly knew, made me angrier than anything, mostly because I thought at least I would have had the choice to choose. I looked off to the side at my father, just gazing into the distance, he was at the front, as he's always is on every ship he comes aboard, taking charge to make sure we were on the right path. And now more than ever, since he knew the way to DunBroch like the back of his hand. See, my father and the bear king, Fergus, weren't always enemies, they were friends at one point, but it was their fathers, my grandfather and King Fergus's father, that were the ones who had a disagreement. My father always came as a kid to DunBroch. Every summer him and my grandfather would come to visit their beloved friends, my grandfather and the king at the time would catch up and discuss issues they had while helping each other solve them and while they did that my father would play with his boy Fergus, and boy would they get into some trouble. Kinda like me, but suddenly that time came to an end. A misunderstanding happened, the king thought my grandfather had betrayed him and to make matters worse his response to my grandfather was "once a Viking always a Viking" and those words crushed my grandfather, he couldn't believe was his best friend had said to him. They never were suppose to be friends according to history but they didn't care they put that aside and saw they were stronger together but after that they became what they were suppose to be, enemies. My father didn't understand why the sudden change, he was only 15 when this happened but he didn't question his father because of the love and respect he had for him, so he followed in his footsteps. Fergus's father also advised his son and told him that Vikings could not be trusted and described us as barbaric and selfless, and like my father he was confused but didn't questioned it, just trusted in his father. Then that was passed down to me...until now.

Then a sudden "Ahoy!" brought me out of my thought we had made it to DunBroch. My father turned to look at me with a serious expression.

"Alright then let's go meet your future wife son" he said was he turned to look a head to see a small glimpse of the kingdom of DunBroch.

I didn't even acknowledge what my father said I just scowled looking at the castle. My father raised me to hate and keep my guard up when I encountered these highlanders and now I'm stepping foot on their land, in their castle! Asking for the hand of their soon to be queen. My father would have called that treason, betrayal. But not today, today it's called winning, honor.

We finally cane to a stop and got off one by one there was at least 10 of us me and my father included. We walked all the way to the castle, it was wired not having our dragons we would be there in seconds but we knew we couldn't bring them, the scots already thought we were a threat, imagine showing up with a dragon. We finally got to the castle. And with no supiese the guards at the gate look at us with hate and fear, griping onto their weapons ready to use them if necessary if our guards made a move, but then I realized, their eyes weren't on our guards they were on, me. Once we passed the gate the common people whispered to each other. All I heard were gasps and "is that him?!" Shocked to finally see the son of the great Stoick the Vast the first Viking not kill a dragon but instead befriend one but most importantly the name i got was what they feared the most "The dragon king". Like being a Viking wasn't scary enough.

We get to the thrown hall finally which seemed forever. An older lady greeted us she looked about my mothers age she held her head up high and was serious but still greeted us like guests which made me feel strange.

"Stoick, glad you could make it, I hope your trip wasn't to bad" she finally said in a formal manner

"Nothing I can't handle myself, your highness" my father replied in the same manner.

She turned to look at me, scanning me from head to toe with her eyes, as I stood a slight behind behind my father. A small surprised look escaped her as she finished scanning me. I simply looked at her and then to my father with no expression.

"And this must be your son, my he's grown to be quite the lad and skillful I've heard"

She stated.

"I, Queen Elenor this is my son Hiccup horrendous haddock iii, or as your whole country knows him by "The Dragon king" my father said with a stern proud voice.

I stepped forward closer to the queen and bowed my head to her. "Your majesty" I kept my serious face on and still showed no emotion.

"Hello to you too Hiccup" she said back to me then turned to look at my father and then me.

"My king will be here shortly with the princess then-" but before she could finished her sentence king Fergus was already walking into the thrown hall with his daughter. And I couldn't believe my eyes.

She. Was. Beautiful.

I never even thought of how she looked or the way she was going to be, I really didn't even think about her at all. But now looking at her walking down with her father took my breathe away. She had red firey hair that went down her back in ringlets with a single strand framing her face, she was wearing a beautiful maroon dress with a cloak almost like mine but instead of fur they were white feathers that made her look like an angel. They finally stoped a few feet away from the queen, she had a sad look on her face that made my stomach turn at the thought of how she must be feeling scared and hopeless. She looked at her father one last time while he held her by his arm like giving her away already at the alter, he gave her a serious smile as though he was telling her that this is it and that it was going to be okay, she then turned to look at me with a worried look on her face. My eyes met hers and I couldn't stop staring into them, they were blue just like the sky during the day when me and toothless are up in the clouds. She finally looked away and the queen reached her hand out for daughter to take. The princess just looked at it sadly, then took it. The queen then pulled her towards me and away from the king. Leaving only a few inches between us. I tensed at how close she was to me. There was a good amount of room to shake hands but it still threw me off. The princess eyes were glued to the floor and her gaze didn't budge, Queen Elenor then spoke.

"Hiccup horrendous haddock iii, meet Princess Merida of DunBroch"

I was a few feet taller than her once she was right in front of me. I had to tilt my head down a little to look at her.

"Princess..." I bowed my head to her and as I slowly lifted my head up I could see her face got serious, her eyes finally tailed up to the crest of a dragon i had on my cloak, I could tell she knew what her whole country knew. Her eyes then finally trailed up to lock eyes with me her serious face suddenly turned to a scowl, showing me she wasn't intimidated by me and letting me know she wasn't too happy about this either. I looked at her with no emotion on my face, her face finally relaxed and I broke the gaze and looking away avoiding her eyes that I could feel were still on me.

"Hiccup." she finally said.

The sudden sound of her saying my name gave me a warm feeling like It was all I've been waiting to hear my whole life, i always thought my name was ridiculous but once she said it sounded so beautiful. And it my heart race a bit.

But even though it three me off I didn't flinch but my eyes just suddenly dropped to meet hers again.

"Well then I know you both might not be to happy about the arrangement but it's for both your countries" Elenor finally said breaking the silence.

" I agree, now Merida that you have met your future husband please let us discuss the details of tomorrow's wedding, and hiccup she can escort you to your room you'll be staying in" king Fergus said putting an arm on his daughters shoulder.

She just turned to look at her father and then me, I looked at my father who gave me a nod or approval and then turn to see the princess guiding me to my chamber.

I followed behind her we didn't speak the way there until she broke the silence.

"So they call ye the dragon king eh?"

"So I've heard" I replied nonchalant.

"Well your not quite scary as they say ye are" she responded.

"I guess I don't live up to it"

She was caught off guard by my answer and it made her suddenly stop in her tracks, wanting to look back at me. I stoped as well, I was confused at her reaction and waited till she made a move but I felt as though she wanted to ask me a more personal questions then suddenly she snapped out of her thought and kept walking and I followed. Once we got to the chamber she finally said,

"Here it is, yer chamber. If ye need anythin' maudie our maid can help ya"

She tried not to look at me but I saw she couldn't help it then finally gave in and looked at me.

"Thanks Princess, I'll keep that in mind"

I said then suddenly her facial expression changed as through she forgot she was the princess. She nodded and then left. I looked at the room, it was very different from berks rooms. All this and I only had one thing on my mind. "I'm getting married tomorrow" I whispered to myself.
