Hiccups POV

"Hiccup..?" Merida said as she finally woke up.

I was putting on the last parts of my armor.

"I see you didn't listen to me" I teased

"No I didn't" she said teasing back and giving me a smile. She sat right up still holding on to the blanket. I finally finished putting my armor on and went to go sit by her.

"Yeu goin' out?" She asked curiously as she caressed my face with her left hand.

"Mer, there's some bad people here. We don't know who they are yet but I need you to listen to me" I said in a serious but soft tone.

"Yeu don't want me going out du yu.."

She said putting her hands together in her lap with a sad expression on her face.

"Yes. I know it's going to be hard but-"

"No." She said interrupting me.

"Mer you don't understand-"

I was able to say before She got up in anger and interrupted me again.

"Yes i du! Yeu want me to sit here like a princess so I won't get hurt, while yeu are out there in danger! Yeu worried bout me but I'm worried about yeu Hiccup, I know yeu've defeated all these...things and yeur a legend but i don't care, I know bout the war, it's horrible. And Yer friend Tuffnut told me what's happening"

"Great, the whole village must know by now and it's not even official. But Merida I'll be fine" I said.

"Hiccup.." she said softly, I could see the tears start to build up without her looking at me.

"Hey ! No, I'm going to be okay Mer." I pulled her into a hug before I saw a tear drop I could feel her giving me a strong hug back.

I began to whisper to her.

"You're not going to lose me. I'm going to do this and I'm coming back. To you, every time" I pulled away so we were only inches away. I kissed her softly and she kissed me back.

"I-I love yeu hiccup, I just found yeu I don't want to lose yeu" she whispered to me.

My heart and my stomach felt butterflies the words sounded beautiful coming from her.

"I love you too, Merida." I replied brushing the hair off her face. She gave me a big smile. Then the moment was interrupted by a knock.

I opened the door to find Astrid. "Hiccup you got to come, now" She said in a serious tone, I knew what that meant

A war was about to begin.

I headed to the building where we held our council meeting everyone was there my father the council members and the riders. Merida came with me to hear what was going to happen.

"Your majesty" the council members bowed their head as they saw her come in with me.

"Hello, please don't stop continue" she replied.

"We are not letting them make of fool out of us ! If they want war that's what they're going to get !" My dad shouted.

"Dad what happened?" I asked.

"The Völsung tribe, they broke our treaty, they stole half of our supplies that we were going to ship out and they also invaded two of our ships to the highlands"

"What?! How did this happen we double check every shipment" I said slamming my first on the table.

"I know, we must have a traitor in our island. They knew exactly when and where those packages were to be delivered, this was no coincidence. We must find them and get back what is OURS!!" My dad yelled stabbing a knife into the map of their location. I looked at it already knowing what that meant.

I can see Merida in the corner of my eye with the worried look on her face almost sure of what my father meant but not complete until I gave the order.

"Get the ships ready. I want gobler to have everyone well armed. You all need to be prepared and let the others know we need as many men to join. We leave this afternoon. That's an order!!" I said looking up at the members while the palm of my hands were resting on the table holding me up.

My father nodded agreeing with me. I could see the proud look in his eyes even though he was frowning .

Then everyone began to leave to get ready. I was finally alone with Merida.

I turned to look at her but she didn't look at me she kept staring at the map that was on the table.

"Mer.." i walked to her until I was right in font of her. Her eyes began to water then a tear fell down her cheek. I brushed it away with my thumb cupping her cheek with the palm of my hand and she closed her eyes at my sudden touch like if she wanted to savor the moment. She then hugged me tightly. It made me emotional but I had to stay strong for us. She began to cry into my shoulder.

"Yeu promise, yu come back to me" she whispered.

"This isn't the end, this is the beginning, I will be back. Just wait here for me." I whispered back. I felt her give a small nod.

"Promise me.." she repeated

"I promise" I replied. She finally let go and rubbed away the tears left in here eyes with her sleeve. I just kept looking at her until she finally looked at me. Then I felt her soft lips touch mine. I cupped her face into my hands drawing her closer to me and intensifying the kiss. I could feel her pull me closer to her also by pulling on my armor where leather loops were attached. She then pulled my hands down to wrap around her arms around my neck while running her fingers through my hair at the back of my head all without breaking the kiss. I wrapped my arms around her waist as she wanted, also pulling her close to me. It felt like I was saying goodbye but I knew this wasn't going to be the end of this. I wasn't going to let her go, not now, not ever.

It was the afternoon, everything was ready my father was waiting at the docks. I had my black armor suit on with my usual red dragon logo, which I wore whenever I went to a different land and now as a chief I needed it more, It was a symbol of who I was "The Dragon king" I would usually take the ride with Toothless but i had him and our other dragons fly near. We were first going to talk to the Chief of Völsung and let them know what they have done and if they were to pull anything we would have the element of surprise, our dragons. But it wouldn't be much a surprise because my reputation follows. I wore my fur cloak as well, to show my thrown, the crests I had that were once silver with a just a dragon were now gold marked with a my night fury wrapped around a sword designed to resemble DunBroch's symbol with my own to show my alliance with the Highlands.

Merida didn't want to say good bye, she said she she wasn't going to say it because she knew I would be back soon. I finally boarded the ship. And as I looked up to see my lovely home before I left I saw Merida standing where I use to stand the day my father took toothless from me. She was wearing her cloak I made her with a beautiful pink dress. She was far but I could see the amount of worry for me but also faith in me. And as we got further I didn't stop looking at her till she faded away. I then finally went to the front of the boat gazing into the distance, I could hear toothless close by. The air was freezing more than ever, it was colder than ice but that meant we were getting closer and we were determined to get there and nothing was going to stop us.

Side note: the tribe "Vöslung" was once real but it's not accurate in this story. I needed an actual Viking tribe name to use and that is the name I liked. Sorry if I didn't represent them the right way! I'm not trying to offend the tribe I just wanted to stick to real Viking names.
