Mother's Day

Summary: Dana & Rich have a special surprize for her Mom on Mother's day.

Notes: Dana & Rich have been together for almost 7 years & married for almost 3 years. Dana is a lawyer & Rich is a paramedic. (I don't know why I just have this idea in my head).

Scene: Rich & Dana are on the way to her Mom's have agreed that Dana will tell her Mom their news since Rich has to go to work.

Dana: Sweetie, are you sure that you don't want to be there when I tell my Mom our news?

Rich: It's okay babe, it's mother's day, you should tell her.

They get to Carol & Frank's

Rich grabs the bag & card from the backseat & hands it to Dana.

Rich: Here babe. (hands her the bag) I will miss you.

Dana: I'll miss you to baby. I wish you didn't have to go to work.

Rich: I know.

They kiss.

Opening Credits

Doorbell Rings

Carol opens the door.

Carol: Hey, Dana.

Dana: Happy Mother's Day Mom

Carol: thanks. Where's Rich?

Dana: He had to work. I have something important to tell you but first I have to go to the bathroom.

She goes upstairs.

Scene: The Kitchen

Dana comes back downstairs. Carol is in the kitchen, by herself.

Dana: Mom, I am glad you are alone, I have something for you.

She hands her the bag.

Dana: Open the card first.

Carol opens the card. The opens the bag. Pulls out a onsie that says "what happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's" Also, has a sonogram taped to the front.

Carol: Dana, your pregnant?

Dana: yes, just past the 1st trimester

Carol: This is the best Mother's day gift.

They hug.

Dana: Mom, you can't tell anyone else. Rich wants to be here when we tell everyone else.

Carol: I don't know if I can keep this a secret very long.

Dana: Just until tomorrow night. We will come over for dinner.

Carol: I will do my best. It's really hard not to put this sonogram on the fridge.

Dana: I know. So what are you doing the rest of day. We should all go to brunch. I am starving.

Everyone comes downstairs just as Carol says: well you are eating for 2 now.

Dana: sssshhh. Hey guys. I have a fantastic idea, lets take Mom to brunch.

Meanwhile at the firestation where Rich works.

Rich & his partner Erin are restocking/cleaning out the ambulance. They are in the front.

Rich: hey I have something to tell you

Erin: what's that?

Rich pulls down the visor on the passenger side, where Erin is sitting, something falls down. Erin picks it up.

Erin: what's this? (Looks at it) Gasp. Is Dana pregnant?

Rich: yeah, about 4 months.

Erin: Congrats. Now since we are sharing stuff. Pull down the visor on your side.

Rich pulls down the visor & a picture falls down. He looks at it. Its a picture of a little boy about 2 years old.

Rich: who is this?

Erin: That is the little boy my wife & I are adopting.

Rich: He is adorable.

Erin: Yeah, and already spoiled.

Scene: Carol & Frank's

Everyone is trying to decide where to go to brunch.

Dana whispers to Carol: Mom can we please go somewhere? The baby is hungry.

Mark happens to over hear this.

Mark whispers to Dana: Baby?

Carol to Dana: Maybe you should tell them so we can go.

Al notices that Mark, Carol and Dana are whispering.

Al to Mark, Carol and Dana: What are you whispering about?

All three: Nothing

Dana to everyone: Can we please just go to Denny's or somewhere?

They all leave to head to Denny's.

The next day at dinner.

Dana & Rich just pulled up at Carol & Frank's

They get out of the car & head to the door.

Rich: Babe, are you sure your up for this.

Dana: I feel a little better. I will let you know when I am ready to

go home.

They walk in. Carol is the only one in the kitchen.

Dana: Hey, Mom.

Carol: Hey, Dana. How are you feeling today?

Dana: I was a little nausous this morning. I am ok right now. By the way whatever, your cooking smells delicious.

Carol: It's almost ready.

Dana to Rich: babe, I am going to go get my sisters. She gives him a kiss.

15 minutes later everyone is in the kitchen. Everyone, is sitting at the table.

Rich to Dana: Are you ready to tell everyone?

Al: Okay, what's with all the whispering?

Dana: Mom, I know your dying to tell everyone. Would you like to share your mother's day gift?

Carol goes and gets the gift, hands it to Frank. Frank opens it.

Frank: Dana, your pregnant?

Carol: That was the hardest secret to keep ever.

Dana: Mom, you have known less then a day.

Carol: Yes, and I have wanted to tell everyone I know.

Everyone congradulates them

Later that evening, at their house, Rich & Dana are snuggled on the couch watching a movie. Dana seems to be falling asleep. Rich notices this.

Rich: Honey, lets go to bed

Dana: I am not tired

Rich: your falling asleep

Dana: I am not going to bed unless you come with me.

Leans over and gives him a passinate kiss. They stand up and continue kissing head toward their bedroom. The door closes.
