Prologue: Timeless Project

Unknown Research Facility (20 years ago)

Long ago in a top secret facility, a group of scientists are in the middle of conducting the greatest project of all time. Mankind's ultimate dream that'll benefit them forever. An experiment that'll be the key to unlimited sustainable energy.

Unfortunately, the mysterious project is not going as expected. The project is contained within a large device and is going haywire. Many scientists are studying the project from behind their computers, desperately trying to figure out what is happening to their special project.

One distressed scientist says to his peers, "An electromagnetic pulse has just been generated!"

Another worried scientist retorts, "Injecting decompression agent! …NO, the level's not dropping!"

"A spatial meltdown is inevitable!" A third scientist remarked worriedly.

One of the scientist makes a quick glance to Doctor Erik Selvig, a renowned Norwegian Quantum mechanics scientist, and distresses to him, "Doctor Selvig, it's too late! We've got to take shelter!"

Selvig angrily slams his fists on his computer, "Why is she misbehaving? Could the legends be true, that the flames are alive?" He quickly looks at the project when a noise is heard from it. Suddenly, the experiment explodes before most of the scientists could take shelter.

The explosion was so powerful that it rocked the laboratory and can be heard from throughout the facility. Moments later, a group of SHIELD agents ran off into the lab to investigate the accident. Director Nick Fury led the group, which included notable members such as Phil Coulson and the Parkers, Richard and Mary. SHIELD arrived at the site of the accident, now a smoldering lab in ruins with dead scientists lying on the ground while others are mortally wounded.

"Selvig!" Fury notices the lead scientist, runs up to him, and checks him for a pulse. He tries to wake up the unconscious scientist while Richard kneels down near a scientist's dead body and his wife looks at something.

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-The Accident 10 Years Ago

"What is that?!" Mary notices a mysterious light where the project was previously contained.

"Flames that require sunglasses." Richard quipped.

The light fades out into a dwarf and splits up, dropping blob bits into the water. The flames grow larger and then flies out of the lab while the black blob puddle oozes out of there.

"They're escaping!" Richard noticed.

"We'll have to split up. Parkers, lead a squad and pursue those flames. Leave that black shadow to me!" Fury ordered.

"You'll need these to seal the flames." Coulson said, holding a small blue cylindrical container and several bomb-looking gadgets. He hands the container to Richard while the bombs are left in Mary's care.

Before the agents could begin their chase, they are stopped by the wounded Selvig, "Wait…" Fury sees that the scientist is still alive, then runs up to him. Selvig tries getting up and takes out some sort of scepter and hands it to Fury, "Seal the shadows with this…!"

"I will, Doctor. Get some rest. Medical team is on their way." Fury assured him.

"Hurry!" Richard shouted to Fury before running off with his wife and SHIELD squad to pursue the flames. Meanwhile, Fury took the scepter from Selvig and follows Coulson and his squad out of the lab to pursue the black shadow.

BGM-The Avengers (2012) OST-Doors Open From Both Sides

In one section of the facility, the Parkers are leading their SHIELD squad in search of the mystical flames. "Keep your eyes peeled for anything bright and deadly. We can't allow those flames to escape this facility, or who knows the damage they'll cause!" Richard ordered his squad.

"LOOK OUT!" A SHIELD agent shouted with distress, just seconds before being tackled to their death by a fiery canine lizard.

Quickly, the agents were attacked by a horde of fiery monsters that were presumably spawned by the mysterious flames. The agents quickly take out their weapons and unleash everything they have against the lava monsters. Some were killed by the flame breaths of the lizard monsters. Some were scattered to their deaths by fire bombs from dragon-like phoenixes. One SHIELD agent was swallowed whole by a burrowing monstrous worm.

"What the hell are these things?!" A scared SHIELD agent shouted while managing to kill a fire monster with their assault rifle.

Richard kills several monsters with his pistol while making a quick joke, "Clearly fire monsters created by the flames. One of them looks like a bird, while another…" He glances in time to spot a fire lizard about to tackle him to death, "Is about to kill me."

But before the monster could kill Richard, it was hit by a golden bomb. The bomb explodes, creating a large sphere of mysterious blue energy that slows down anything inside the sphere, which are the remaining fire monsters. That bomb was thrown by Mary, who saved her husband and allows the remaining SHIELD agents to wipe out the monsters.

"Not anymore." Mary smiles while approaching her husband.

"Thanks honey." Richard replied.

"What would you do without me?" Mary quipped.

"I'd still be able to tie my own shoes." Richard joked. "But I AM going to need you to help me tie up those flames. IT created those things. We need to seal it up fast. Use Howard Stark's bombs to slow it down."

Mary nods with a serious look on her face, "Got it."

"I think I see it. It's over there!" A SHIELD agent points to the mystical flames floating in another room.

"Be careful!" Richard ordered as the team close in on the flames. As they draw closer to it, the flames react by summoning a large humanoid giant made entirely of lava to protect it from the humans. Richard sighs, "Where's Rồng when you need her?" He joked before dodge-rolling away from a large lava ball thrown by the golem.

"We don't need your ex to save us all the time." Mary quipped, before she and a few agents were knocked away by a shockwave caused by the golem smashing their fists into the ground.

"MARY!" Richard exclaimed in worry, before he was smacked away into the wall. The witty agent groans while shaking his head and recover. He then looks at the monster and notice it opening its skull, from what it looks to him, to reveal a glowing core. Richard takes note of this before dodging another lava ball. "Mary, are you okay?!" He asked while helping his wife onto her feet.

"I'm fine…" Mary replied softly.

"Got an idea. When it opens its skull, throw another time bomb. It's weakpoint will be left open and vulnerable for a moment, long enough for the rest of us to finish it off." Richard proposed.

"Good plan." Mary acknowledged.

"That's why you love me." Richard quipped before turning back to his squad, "Keep firing at it! Keep annoying it!"

The SHIELD agents unload all of their bullets at the mindless monster, who grows increasingly annoyed by their feeble attacks. As it reveals its core and prepares for another deadly attack, Mary throws a bomb at the golem to slow it down for a moment. "NOW! ATTACK THE CORE!" Richard shouted, leading the assault as everyone shoots the core. The monster growls in excruciating pain before an agent kills it with a RPG, blowing it up into several pieces.

"Mary! The flames!" Richard shouted.

Quickly, Mary throws another bomb at the living flame and slows it down in time as well, preventing it from escaping for the time being. Richard takes out the container meant to seal away the flames struggling to break free from the time sphere. "Eternal Sun! The Living Flame that was worshipped by the lost tribe! Fall into slumber into this vessel!" Richard said to the flames while raising the container into the air.

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-Never Cry, No Matter What

Suddenly, the technologically advanced container opens up and glows with a mysterious blue color. The flames begin to shrink to a comfortable size before being sucked into the container completely. Richard then closes the container, sealing the flames within forever and saving the facility from further damage.

Richard lets out a sigh of relief while holding the container, "It's over."

"Yeah. I think you're right." Mary approached her husband.

"That's the second demon we had to seal away in our lifetime." Richard jokes before taking out his phone to call Fury, "Director Fury? This is Agent Richard Parker. The Flames are properly sealed. It's done."

'Good job, Parker. We just got done sealing away the shadows. When you feel up to it, rendezvous with me at the lab. We'll discuss the perfect places to hide these things forever.' Fury responded.

"In other words, Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. ended up as a complete failure after all." Richard said.

'Afraid so, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. See you soon. Fury out.' Fury replied before hanging up the call.

Richard puts his phone in his pocket before facing his wife, "Come on. Let's put this thing away and head home. Spend some time with Peter before we're called away for another mission."

"It has been a while since we saw our little boy. Hate the thought of him growing up without us." Mary remarked sadly. "When Fury recruited us to work for SHIELD, I never expected us to get involved in a project that was so…ambitious." She frowned.

Richard comforts his wife with a gentle hug, "I know what you're feeling, honey. Fury has good intentions, but we were dealing with dangerous forces that should've stayed lost in time. Legends foretold that the Flames of Disaster were destined to one day awaken. We manage to prevent that disaster. But let us pray that it doesn't reawaken in a world that our son will grow up in." He said sincerely, walking away with his wife and the container that sealed away the living flames of disaster, which would destroy the world if it was fully awakened.

KFX Here: Been a while since I've done a dedicated Sonic/Spider-Man story. Family Business was the beginning of this new saga, the prologue to this "Time War Saga". New characters will be introduced in new adventures as the heroes uncover the secrets of "Project PEGASUS".
